In Cleveland, Virginia, at the Sanban house, Kuki, aka Number 3, is playing a tea party with her little sister, Mushi, in the latter's room. Mushi's room consisted of a purple canopy with a dream catcher hanging over her bed, which was by the window, and had 2 pillows, a normal one and a star-shaped one, and a pink blanket with reddish-pink knitting at the bottom. A dresser was next to the bed, and she had a dollhouse on the wall by the door. On the wooden floor was a light blue and white circle-shaped carpet.
While playing, their mother, Genki, knocked on the door. "May I come in?" she asked. "Yes," said the sisters. Genki came in and sat between her daughters and their mini tea table. "Girls, I have to talk to you about something," said Genki. "What is it, Mom?" asked Kuki. "Well, girls, your relatives are going to be celebrating their family reunion in Tokyo, and we're invited! Wakuwaku shimasen ka? Isn't that exciting?" said Genki. "Hai! Yes!" exclaimed the sisters.
"You should be! Our flight leaves tonight at 7, so make sure you pack your bags!" exclaimed Genki, as she left the room and went to tell her husband and the sisters' father, Kani.
Kuki rode her bike to the treehouse to tell her friends about the news. At first, everyone was devastated, but the Japanese girl told them she would keep in touch with everyone.
Before 7, the family packed their bags and was ready to go. Just before they passed the treehouse where Kuki's friends were waiting for her, she asked, "Dad, can we stop for a minute? My friends are outside, and they have stuff for me." Kani pulled the car over and told his daughter, "Okay. Make it quick. We don't wanna miss the flight." "Arigatou. Thank you," said Kuki.
Kuki went to see her friends. After they talked and said goodbye to each other, the Sanban family was off to the airport to travel to Tokyo for the family reunion.
