War… Never Changes…

...

...

That's what my father told me.

In the last World War, in the 1940s, the Nazis' technological advances had sprung into monstrous proportions. Armored Tanks that walked, men whose flesh was replaced with steel, with weapons that could kill tens of men instead of one. When 1945 came, my great-great-great grandfather, serving in the army, wondered when he would go home to his wife, and the children he would never see.

He got his wish.

When the United States dropped the first Atomic Bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The Nazi forces either retreated, surrendered, or just disappeared, leaving only remnants of the technology that almost turned the tide. Technology that would be questionable for either side to possess. The world awaited Armageddon. Instead… something miraculous happened.

We began to use nuclear energy, not as a weapon, but as an endless renewable source of power.

People enjoyed luxuries thought possible in the realms of science fiction:

Domestic Robots

Fusion-Powered Cars

Portable Computers

It truly was the Atomic Age.

But then… in the 21st Century.. people awoke from the American Dream.

Years of consumption led to shortages of every major resource. The entire world unraveled. Peace… became a distant memory.

It is now the year 2077. We now stand on the brink of Total War, with no Nazi forces. And I am in fear for myself… for my son. Because if my time in the army has taught me one thing, it's this…

War….

War Never Changes
