Current team:
- Monke.
.
I don't bother going back to Route 201 in order to catch anything, and instead I search for my first encounter on Route 202. It happens to be a female Starly, whom I catch and lovingly nickname Bord.
Trainer encounters also begin, and someone's Starly nearly assassinates Monke. Is this meant to foreshadow something? The Nuzlocke already begins hard.
I finally reach Jubilife city after much ass kicking. Lucas encourages me to catch more Pokémon. Poor candid soul is not aware that this is a Nuzlocke. He also tells me to go visit the dojo/school, where Abortion has already gone.
Abortion is still in there, so I give him his mother's parcel. There are two maps inside, so he gives me one of them and leaves.
There are two kids who want to practice battling. Each of them has an Abra. I decide this is good grinding so I beat the first one, and the second one murders Bord in cold blood. I had overestimated my poor mon. Monke avenges her, and I learn my lesson: I must always be more cautious, and also children are little hellspawns.
After exiting the Pokémon center and mourning Bord, I am intercepted by the president of the Pokétch company, who tells me to look for three clowns and answer their questions, and if I am correct every clown will give me a coupon and if I present the three coupons he will give me a Pokétch. Honestly their questions are super simple, even for a beginner, so I have no trouble answering them, and can soon move on.
I enter Route 203, and the first thing I see is Abortion assaulting me to get me to fight him. He has his Piplup and a Starly, whereas I only have Monke, because RIP Bord. Still, Monke beats them both like the Alpha Male he is.
I catch another Starly, and name him Birb, hoping he will carry Bord's legacy. I train him to match Monke's level, and then proceed to enter Oreburgh Gate: the cave that leads towards Oreburgh City. In it I catch a Zubat, and name her Echo.
As soon as I emerge into the city, some random NPC physically drags me to the gym, saying that people won't take me seriously if I don't have any gym badges. To make things worse Abortion is right outside, bragging about how he already got one, and rubbing in my face that I am so late, gym leader Roark has left to the mine.
I have no choice but tracking him like a wild feline starving for prey, but not all is bad: in the mine I catch a Geodude and name her Betsie.
The mine workers are so bored they spare some time to fight me, so thanks for the free exp. As I sweep them one by one, I stumble upon Roark, who begins to brag about how he is able to break rocks, breaks one in my face and leaves. His punishment for such disrespect will be a humiliating defeat.
Beforehand, though, I visit the Pokémon Center so my mons are at their 100%, and just then I discover that Betsie has been carrying an everstone all along! I immediately snatch it from her and sell it.
Monke is a Gigachad Alpha Male, but the rest of my team are still quite green, so I decide to go grind some more before sweeping the floor with a certain rock boy. One particularly funny fight I shall highlight is beating a Geodude with Echo: we keep confusing it, leeching its life as it keeps injuring itself, and then its confusion fades when it has only 1HP, which we drain as well. Our master plan rings before its eyes as it faints.
Monke evolves into Monferno, and I take a peek on Route 207, where I catch a Machop. I name her Ladrillo (brick in Spanish) because my irl best friend Poste practically begs me to.
After lots of grinding, it's finally time for retribution.
Roark takes out his Geodude, which Ladrillo easily handles, regardless of the leader wasting a potion on it.
Cranidos is next, so I take out Echo to confuse it, but my poor bat is oneshot.
Full of spite Monke hits the Cranidos. Roark uses a potion, but it only takes another attack from Monke to have the damn dinosaur faint.
Last but not least, Ladrillo takes down the Onix with three hits.
The battle is finally over. I gain the badge, punish Roark as I swore to do, but the price to pay has been a heavy one.
.
RIP Bord.
RIP Echo.
