Current team:
- Betsie.
- Howard.
- Honk.
- Barbara.
.
Overwhelmed by the events that took place within the gym, I quickly unpoison Barbara and Betsie, and then run out.
Cynthia is by the door, and as soon as I exit, she thanks me for what I did back in Celestic Town, and then roasts Team Galactic like there's no tomorrow. Once she has gotten that out of her system, she also tells me to go check the library in Canalave City.
But there's something more important that I must do first.
Monke, my loyal starter...
And Wayward, the contest winner whom I expected to see as a Mismagius one day...
May they rest in peace.
.
I retrieve Millie from the Daycare Center, who has not only reached level 36, but has also learned Grass Knot and Shock Wave, and then let Elegance take Millie's place in the Daycare Center, by Baby's side. I also add Tokyo the Magikarp onto the team.
My adventure can resume.
Millie forgets Shock Wave in order to learn Drain Punch.
Also nobody on my team can currently learn cut, so I will have to deal with that at some point too.
I pay a visit to the Pokétch factory back in Jubilife City, and the president gives me a couple more apps.
On Route 218, I begin to surf on teeny tiny itty bitty Barbara, which is hilarious. Imagine me standing on top of a wee little Azurill, probably on one leg, and the poor blue mouse thingy swimming and keeping afloat while carrying my weight. XD
Sadly, a Gyarados kills Millie. Honk avenges her by killing that and another Gyarados.
I then attempt to catch a Tentacool, but a still very salty Honk oneshots it. I think he's mad because he thought Millie was his egg.
I look up how to get the Exp Share, immediately do so, and then give it to Tokyo so that she can evolve into something not useless. Hopefully Honk won't kill her too.
I make it to Canalave City, and turns out, the same dude who gave me the Exp Share (Lucas's father) is waiting for me by the entrance. Did he teleport or something? Anyways, he updates my Pokédex, adding in a function that allows me to see the gender differences of the Pokémon I catch. He also asks me to keep an eye on Team Galactic, like everyone seems to be doing nowadays. Joke's on you, I only have 2 eyes.
As soon as I get into the city and try to cross the bridge, Abortion yet again challenges me. This kid doesn't learn. Honk oneshots his staravia, Betsie oneshots his Ponyta and Howard two-shots his roselia. His heracross wounds Howard, so I bring Honk back into the fight, who sweeps the floor with that beetle, and then two-shorts his Prinplup despites being injured.
.
I enter Byron's gym, ready to tell the leader about how disrespectful his son Roark was and how I punished him, but then back in the underground he had gotten over it... But what if Roark's behavior has been heavily influenced by his own dad? What if Byron sucks at educating kids? Do I have to sweep the floor with his ugly face too? Do I have to make a TED talk about bad parenting?
Anyways, this is a steel Gym, so I let Barbara do the sweeping. She easily defeats the 5 trainers in the way, and Tokyo finally evolves!
I make a quick escapade to the Pokémon Center to recharge Barbara's surfs, and then immediately return to the gym, where Barbara defeats the 6th trainer.
For some reason the 7th trainer lets out an Axumarill, so I switch to Honk, who two-shots that blue easter bunny.
Now it's finally time to teach Byron a lesson about bad parenting. The loss of Monke and Wayward still leaves me on edge, but I must persevere. This fight is for them.
Bronzor leaves Barbara in the red, so I switch to Honk, who defeats it with the help of a couple of potions.
Byron then lets out his Bastiodon, so I let out mine. Howard is one level below, but he keeps patiently injuring the foe (who keeps using Iron Defense) by spamming dig, but Byron keeps making his mon fall asleep and recover.
This is getting ridiculous, so I begin to heal Barbara just in case, and then let out Betsie, who defeats Bastiodon with 2 earthquakes.
Lastly comes Steelix. I make Barbara spam surf as much as possible, and they leave each other with only a few hp. One last attack from Barbara would end this battle, but what if Byron chooses to heal Steelix before that?
I play it safe, using some medicine on Barbara, and as I predicted, Steelix's health is also fully restored.
I return to spamming surf, praying for Barbara to crit so that things will go faster. It doesn't, but luckily 3 surfs work to completely defeat the iron snakeworm thingy.
Well, Byron, I hope you realize we both have gotten something out of this battle: I got the 6th gym badge, and you got a lesson for having raised your son Roark to be a derp.
.
RIP Millie.
