My Mom The Warrior of Light
I'm guessing I'm continuing this? So many people have followed and liked the story.
And yes there definitely needs to be more ff14 crossovers.
SheildofBrotherhood says: i don't know about immediately saying "i'm from another world" but its an interesting premise and with the wol being a lalafell i could help keep things balanced on the physical strength side, if the wol is mostly a mage class
Canonically, to her story, she is the WoL however she hates that title. She allows people to identify her as such because she understands the weight that title brings.
Also canonically, about Vergo, she's an Arcanist proficient at both Summoner and Scholar class, she's also proficient at Machinist, Warrior, Paladin, Sage, and Monk; physical and magical prowess can mean little to the adventurer simply because they can be whatever the situation needs them to be.
Also if your comment about her being magical leaning because she's a Lalafell, I'd gleefully point you into the direction of Pippin, Raubahn's adopted son and arguably the most dangerous Gladiator on Etheirys.
Alia and Vergo (or any wol) admitting to being from another world varies from personal preference but in general, the WoL isn't subtle. They aren't like their fellow scions. They can and will go loud, consequences be damned. Without the Scions there to really guide the conversation or direct the plot, the Azem in them would definitely kick in. Just gremlin energy. Why do you think Hades was so done with everything and perpetually tired when it came to us specifically? Also, do I need to remind you that unsundered Azem saved a bunch of people because they produced Grapes and they love Grapes?
TheRealShenron asks "So are all the warriors summoned with the crystal going to be shards of azem like the player?"
Without getting into the mechanics, it's both yes and no? In this story, yes, because it's just easier to explain it that way. In game? It's extremely difficult to explain.
The Timeline in this story is vastly different from canon on the My Hero Academia side and due to the interference by Vergo, the heroes and villains will be stronger because of it.
Izuku at the start, is four years old, and it was just days after Garaki told him and Inko that he was quirkless.
And to better understand how old/mature Vergo is, for the sake of actually giving her a voice actress, she's voiced by Mary Elizabeth McGlynn (think Cornelia Li Britannia from Code Geass). It's the closest voice I can think of to match her actual in-game voice.
Chapter 1: Promises To Keep
Vergo let out a tired sigh as she sat comfortably on a plush leather couch in All Might's office/apartment. The room was a mixture of cozy living space and functional workspace, with bookshelves filled with hero-related literature and memorabilia from Toshinori's career as All Might. It had been days since she arrived here on this reflection, and it was a lot to take in.
'I'm unsure this is a reflection of the source or yet just another star,' Vergo thought, her brow furrowed in contemplation. 'Looking at the histories of this star, there were no other races other than Hyur, or Humans as they are called, and even then due to the advent of Quirks, the people wouldn't even have noticeable amounts of Aether.' She mused, reflecting on everything she had learned. 'The first child to develop the first Quirk existed nearly two hundred years ago on this star. Though, given the time discrepancy, I could theorize that it too was a byproduct of the Flood caused by Loghrif's death. A Child that glowed with the purest of Light and was the first discovered person with a Quirk that ushered in more like it.'
"You look like you have a lot on your mind, Miss Vergo," All Might, rather Toshinori Yagi, said as he entered the room, his presence as imposing as ever despite his previous injury.
"Simply going over the history provided to me," Vergo replied with a smile that didn't quite reach her eyes. "I wouldn't be a Scion if I didn't have a hunger for knowledge."
Toshinori nodded, his eyes reflecting understanding and a touch of curiosity. He recalled the information the diminutive woman had shared about herself. Finding out that the mysterious tiny woman was a hero in her own right, having saved countless countries and even worlds and the universe itself, was jarring to All Might. She didn't look taller than ninety-seven centimeters, and her youthful looks would have many mistaking her for a young adult.
"How is Izuku?" Vergo asked, her tone softening with genuine concern.
"He is doing as well as expected," Toshinori replied, a deep sadness in his voice. "His mother was his world after all." The boy had been nearly inconsolable, only really calming down when he entered the room.
"And his father? Did you look into him?" Vergo pressed, her curiosity piqued.
"Apparently his father cut contact with them. He didn't want anything to do with the boy due to his Quirkless nature(1)," Toshinori explained, a hint of bitterness in his tone.
"I see," Vergo said simply, but Toshinori felt a shiver go down his spine. Those two words carried a weight that suggested Izuku's father would be a dead man if he ever showed his face.
"I-In any case," Toshinori continued, trying to shake off the chill, "I was allowed custody of Young Midoriya since you technically don't exist in this world."
"It's an acceptable outcome. I'm unsure of a lot of things at the moment and I rather not do things on a whim. It's more than my life I need to worry about," Vergo admitted, hopping off the couch with a grace that belied her size. "I don't know anything about being a mother either. I've been told I'm motherly, but what does that mean in the grand scheme of raising a child?"
"It means that you'll do what's right for the child," Toshi replied with his signature winning smile, which always seemed to radiate confidence and reassurance. It reminded her a lot of Hildebrand, though less cheesy. "You'll do great. And I'll step in to be the boy's father figure. It was my fight that cost his mother her life."
"I was curious about that fight," Vergo said, her eyes narrowing slightly. "It's clear that you won, but it seemed like he inflicted you with something foul, tainted. If left unchecked it would've eaten away at your insides."
"More than likely a Quirk to weaken me," Toshinori admitted, his face darkening with the memory. "Which means he might have survived our encounter…damn it all!" He cursed, looking frustrated at his own revelation.
"Sounds like someone I knew, only with less-than-ideal agendas," Vergo said, her tone thoughtful. At least with Zenos, it boiled down to a man who saw the power and freedom she held and admired her, even in his own twisted way. This man Toshinori spoke of gave her Fandaniel vibes, an Asian whose ideas were warped to the point of insanity. "However, you can still get stronger and be ready for him."
"That would be the best plan," Toshinori agreed, nodding. "However, I should still train a replacement in the interim."
"A replacement? You're younger than me! You're far from reaching the retirement age(2)!" Vergo exclaimed, her tone a mix of disbelief and amusement. Considering the fact that she was the eldest Active Scion, that was saying a lot.
Toshi chuckled, the sound lightening the mood. "That may be so... but it's better to have a plan just in case I don't make it. There are far more vile criminals out there after all."
Vergo nodded in agreement, though she wondered if she'd ever need a replacement. She mentally shook her head. At this point, she knew too many ways to prolong her life, and she was the final Seat of Azem. She could turn herself into an Ascian if need be.
Suddenly, Aria manifested herself next to Vergo, startling Toshinori. "Heya! I got the item you wanted, Vergo," she announced cheerfully.
From what Toshinori understood, Aria was also Vergo except a reflection of her. She was an Au Ra, a race of dragon-like people judging by her horns and scales. Aria was dressed rather casually, in a hoodie and jeans. In fact, if it wasn't for the knowledge he held of her, he would have assumed she was from Japan itself.
Vergo accepted the item with a smile. "Thank you kindly, Aria. I assume there was no trouble?"
"My G'Raha Tia questioned why I needed such a powerful artifact, but I assured him that it was for a good cause(3)," Aria said with a huff. "Also, did your G'Raha think he was being mysterious by hiding underneath that hood?"
"If My G'Raha didn't, I'd be concerned. Good luck, Aria!" Vergo said with a chuckle. Aria nodded with a smile before leaving.
Vergo glanced at Toshinori, who looked utterly confused. "You're wondering what we meant, right? Well, we were once one being, eons ago. And during the sundering of Etheryis, instead of our soul splitting into one being in the Source and Thirteen different reflections, we splintered into billions because our soul was too powerful. So, we know of each other, know that we have different origins, races, genders, personalities, and the like. We were all once Azem, so that's why we can call on each other for help(4)."
Toshinori was at a loss for words. A billion different heroes, let alone people, all born from one being. "That's… mind-boggling," he finally managed to say. "So… what was the device she gave you?" Changing the subject was good. "I didn't see what she gave you."
"The reason why is because we hid it within our Aether, less likely to be seen or stolen. Do you have a large open space in this building?" Might Towers felt just as daunting of a place as Eulmore, and just as lavish. Vergo noted that the place wasn't interior designed by Toshi himself as she had seen the man don a bright yellow suit and tie for a press conference and she wasn't impressed.
"I do have an unused storage area. Will that be enough?"
"Should be." Vergo replied with a thoughtful look on her face. "We should go see Izuku in the meantime. He should be awake by now and well… " The Lalafell woman didn't know what else to say. The poor boy would need someone there to help him cope, less he fell to darkness.
Izuku sat despondently in his hospital bed, his eyes brimming with unshed tears. At just four years old, he felt a profound sense of loss and despair. That week had shattered his world—first, he discovered he was Quirkless, a harsh reality that meant he could never become a hero like his idol, All Might. Then, in a cruel twist of fate, his mother was killed in a villain attack. He lost both his dream and his world within moments. He didn't know what to do or how to move forward.
"Izuku-kun." The gentle voice of the nurse attending to him broke through his thoughts. She had always been kind to him, never looking at him with disdain like the kids at his school. "The heroes who saved you are here to see you."
Izuku perked up slightly, curiosity piqued. Who were the heroes that had saved him? Before he could ponder further, the door burst open.
"I AM HERE WITH MY ALLY!" boomed a powerful voice. All Might, the pinnacle of heroism in Izuku's eyes, stepped into the room, carrying a tiny girl under his arm.
"A-A-ALL MIGHT?!" Izuku stammered in awe, unable to believe his hero was standing before him.
"This is mortifying. Why did I agree to this?" muttered the tiny girl, her face flushed red with embarrassment. As she spoke, Izuku realized she was not a child but a small woman.
"You did ask if I could get us here faster," All Might replied cheekily.
"I hate you," the woman muttered as All Might gently placed her on the bed beside Izuku. She looked at Izuku and introduced herself. "Hello, Izuku. My name is Vergo Stratsa. I was the one who found you and your mother while All Might dealt with the villain who attacked the city." She and Toshi had decided to keep her origins a secret for now, including from Izuku.
"A-Are you a hero too?" he asked, as he had never seen her around All Might before.
"I'm an old friend of his," Vergo lied smoothly. "He called me in because of my Quirk."
"What is your Quirk?" Izuku asked excitedly. Vergo and All Might smiled at his enthusiasm.
"I'll explain it later, Izuku-kun. There is something we need to discuss first, is that okay?" Izuku became pensive before nodding. Vergo gave him a sad smile before continuing. "Izuku-kun, I was the one who found you and your mother. She... asked me to look after you."
"My mom asked you to look after me?" Izuku questioned softly.
"She did, and I will if you'd let me." Vergo's mind briefly flashed to the times she had looked after others, particularly Alphinaud and Alisaie. Though the twins had their parents, they often saw her as family.
"And I'll be here for you as well, Young Midoriya," All Might added, his voice full of reassurance.
Izuku's eyes welled with tears as he hesitated, then finally asked, "What about my dad? Where is he?"
All Might's confident demeanor faltered. He struggled to find the right words. "Izuku, your father... he... he left because... because you were Quirkless. He…cut off communications when we informed him of your.." All Might trailed off, not wanting to continue.
Izuku's face crumpled, his voice breaking. "He abandoned us because of me? Because I was Quirkless?"
All Might reached out, but Vergo moved closer, wrapping her arms around the trembling boy. "No, Izuku. It wasn't because of you. Your father's decision to leave was his own failing, not yours. You did nothing wrong."
Izuku sobbed into her shoulder, overwhelmed by the news. "It's not fair," he choked out. "Why wasn't I born with a Quirk?"
Vergo held him tighter as All Might knelt beside the bed, his eyes filled with regret and sorrow. "I'm sorry, Young Midoriya. I wish I could change the past, but I promise you, we'll be here for you as well as Vergo."
Izuku's sobs gradually subsided as he clung to Vergo, feeling the warmth and sincerity in her embrace. "Thank you," he whispered, his voice muffled.
Vergo gently pulled back, lifting his chin so he could see her face. "We're a team now, Izuku. We'll get through this together. You're not alone."
Deep beneath Might Towers, Vergo and All Might stood in front of a large Blue Crystal that floated a few feet above the ground. It had gold accents seemingly holding it from flying higher.
"So this is an Aetheryte Crystal. When you spoke of these before, I imagined something smaller!" Toshinori exclaimed.
"They're staples of travel allowing people to travel from place to place instantaneously. It's generally agreed upon that if you can attune to them, you can travel from location to location without too much trouble. I still needed to take a boat ride to Kugane and go through customs and still needed to check in at Yedlihmad before entering Radz-At-Hanz." Vergo paused before sheepishly chuckling. "Those are countries that.. I've saved as well."
"You'll definitely need to recount your tales to Young Izuku when you return." Toshinori chuckled back. "So you're going to attune to this and then head back to your world?"
"If only to test the temporal difference. I'm unsure if this world is one of the many reflections of the Source." She admitted worried. "And I do want to keep my promise to raise Izuku but I cannot abandon my duty as well."
"That is understandable. What will I tell Young Midoriya?"
"Just that I needed to check in back at my agency before settling down." Which.. was kind of the truth; The Scions of the Seventh Dawn were kind of a hero agency…that regularly saved the world and countries. She mentally sighed. She had a lot to explain to the other Scions. And he knew Y'Shtola would have a field day with her.
If you've read my other fics you'll know that I do mildly short chapters, mainly because my health doesn't allow for full on focus on stories, plus i'm doing content creation and just adopted a sweet lil chocolate Pit Named Mocha. So busy busy busy!
Edit: I forgot the Notes!
(1): I'm pretty sure while Izuku is Quirkless, his overstated ability at Hero Analysis, rather his brilliant mind might've been a byproduct of his Parent's Quirk types rather than the Quirks themselves. Like his mind was enhanced by the Telekinetic and Pyro abilities. Also we're at the end of MHA's manga and no dad reveal.
(2): As stated, Vergo is in her late 30s but I'm also convinced that the WoL is nigh immortal. Very supplemental, but during the FFXIV collab with the Nier Mobile Game, we got insight on how Emet-Selch felt during 5.0 and in one scene we see him using his enhanced sight to see into the WoL soul. He could see the damage caused by the Light Aether but also the soul compared to the other people, was looking at a bonfire. He commented that it was like looking at an old friend.
(3): Different player/characters different experiences with the NPCs. Honestly it was the only way i could comfortably write that scene without causing issues. Multiverse Theory saved my bacon.
(4): One of three explanations to how post 5.3 we can summon other players to fight trials. then again 7.01 Normal Raids just lampooned this.
