Chapter 6: War Games

Percy's POV

As I walked back to the barracks after my spar with Reyna I didn't think about the fight just what came after, the wonderful kiss from her I could still feel where our lips had met I had loved it.

Once I made it back to the barracks I changed clothes and went to sleep thinking about Reyna, but Demigod dreams never let you get those peaceful dreams for long.

Dream Sequence

I watched as a ship was being built.

There were two people, one little Latino guy whose clothes and skin were covered with grease stains, and the other was a blond dude with an orange shirt and jeans.

At first, I struggled to read the words on the blond kid's shirt because of my dyslexia but then I realized it said Camp half blood.

I had no idea what that meant, and I also realized I couldn't hear what the two were saying.

They seemed to be demigods if they were building a ship like that. "Yes," a voice said as if reading my thoughts making me jump which is hard to do in a dream. I turned to see Juno standing there.

I looked at her saying "Oh Lady Juno to what do I owe this pleasure" I said in mock respect she just chuckled and replied "it is not yet time for you to know some of these things but it is time for you to wake", and with that I shot up like a gun still groggy from my sleep.

End Of Dream Sequence

I looked around and realized I was the first one up.

As I got up and got dressed Frank sat up on the bunk above mine and gave me a nod before getting ready himself.

Soon the whole 5th cohort was moving around and getting ready for the day. Once they were ready I went up to Hazel and asked "What do I have to do today?"

She laughed and responded saying "You get to be led around by Reyna, normally she doesn't do that for new recruits but then again normal recruits don't get brought in by Juno."

I nodded looking at the ground as I felt the blood rush to my face remembering the previous night's ordeals with Reyna.

Then everybody started moving towards the mess hall.

I was chatting with Hazel and Frank about what was to come and they introduced me to war games and what we would be doing.

I loved it, I couldn't wait for it to start. As the group was discussing their cohort and war games Reyna came over to the table and looked at me and said "I presume Hazel told you I would be showing you all around camp today."

I looked at her and noticed her face showed no emotion, but when I looked into her eyes I saw the happiness in them that they got to spend more time together and I was just as happy about that.

As the pair was walking from the mess hall we walked into the city of New Rome where we went to a little cafe where Reyna ordered two drinks she handed one to me and I looked at it skeptically which made Reyna laugh and say "It's only hot chocolate" as my confusion increased it just made her laugh some more and she continued by saying " it's like a comfort drink for me."

I nodded finally understanding. We sat down at one of the tables at the cafe sipping our hot chocolate in comfortable silence before Reyna started talking and said " I think maybe we should talk about last night."

I was instantly alert looking into her eyes, and her face was a bit red thinking about the events of the previous night and I had no doubt in my mind that my face was just as red.

Reyna's POV

I didn't know where I was going with this, I just needed to talk about it especially after my vision and chat with Venus the previous night.

I was about to continue as Percy looked at me and I became entranced by his eyes. They were sea blue and beautiful.

I shook myself out of these thoughts and continued and the single word that came out of my mouth surprised me and seemed to confuse him a lot as well, "why".

He sat thoughtfully and stared at her for a moment before answering "You kissed me first after our duel. I just reciprocated the feeling, though I can't say I didn't enjoy it." He said with his troublemaker grin.

Then he continued saying " So why did you do it? You asked me the question first so now you need to be able to answer it." He said, smirking even more mischievously.

I took a deep breath thinking about how I was gonna respond, and finally deciding on my answer. "Fine I enjoyed it too, but I feel like it was wrong somehow you know? I mean you just lost your memory, and a battle I added smirking." Percy laughed at this but nodded his head in understanding.

After me and Percy's little chat, the day had been peaceful.

I showed him around all of Camp Jupiter and New Rome, and I told him about training and teamwork.

I was surprised at how quick of a learner he was as well as his listening skills. On his first day he had seemed kinda dumb and naive but now he seemed very alert I noted to myself.

Time skip: War games

Percy's POV

I followed Frank and Hazel to the field of Mars once Frank finished his own armor he came over to check mine.

I had put my armor on all by instinct without really knowing what I was doing, and once Frank had come to check it both were surprised to see I had done it correctly.

Gwen, one of my new centurions, came over and told them "Do whatever and show Percy the ropes. Keep him alive." "Big ego boosts right there" I muttered once she had walked away which made Frank and Hazel laugh.

I was shocked to learn that Hazel could go underground as we walked through the passage Hazel held up her hand signaling them to stop but in the dimness of the underground only illuminated by my sword Frank didn't notice and stumbled into Hazel which made me laugh and Hazel just glared at me for that but I didn't care.

When we climbed out of the cavern we were right at the walls as Hazel had predicted.

Frank looked at me and said " I need you to take out those water cannons."

I just nodded and closed my eyes to concentrate when I felt a tug in my gut just as I did at the little Tiber.

Once the cannons had blown up and a few of the legionnaires manning them had gone flying into the air Frank shot an arrow up the wall I motioned for him to go first and Frank happily obliged

Once we got up the wall I felt unstoppable getting under the defender's guard ducking and rolling knocking them aside not getting a scratch on me that's when I saw Ocatavion I remembered how annoying he had been and how he had treated Reyna.

This made me seethe with rage. I jumped over the defensive line and used the butt of my sword to hit Octavion on the head and he immediately crumpled to the ground.

As we made our way further into the fortress we grabbed the flags just as Hannibal the elephant came charging in and knocking down the door. The rest of the fifth cohort saw us with the flags and cheered, raising us on top of Hannibal and doing a victory lap.

Reyna's POV

I watched as Percy, Hazel, and Frank snuck underground.

I understood how good of a plan it was and decided to see how it turned out.

As I saw them exit the ground I watched as Percy knocked out the water cannons which surprised me cause I didn't ever think of him being able to do that, but she watched as Frank got over the wall first and Percy and Hazel quickly followed.

I watched Percy who almost single-handedly took down the first and second cohorts the pride of camp Jupiter I was stunned.

After a few minutes of them disappearing into the fortress, the fifth had gotten to the outer walls and were trying to get in with the help of Hannibal while the third and fourth after getting over their surprise rushed to the gates to try to gain victory for themselves.

Once Hannibal broke down the walls Percy, Frank, and Hazel were on his back with the flags in tow and the fifth surrounding them in cheers.

Time skip they have gotten the prophecy Frank Hazel and Percy are contemplating it and their upcoming quest.

Same POV

I found Percy with his trio of friends I walked up to them and asked "Can I borrow Percy for a moment"

Percy's face showed no emotion but his eyes did they showed curiosity.

Percy motioned for his friends to go on without him and he went with me he just followed me for a bit until we got to the arena where I grabbed the same gladius I used the following night.

Percy drew his own sword and I looked at him and said "Want to try for redemption?" Percy smiled back, answering "Well see how this one goes."

We circled each other for a moment before Percy attacked first trying to disarm me quickly and this caught me by surprise and in an instant I was weaponless with Riptide at my neck.

I looked at Percy dumbfounded. He looked at her straight face saying "Do you yield."

I was angry at how quickly that had gone and had no choice but to respond "yes."

He smiled at this saying "Ready for the tiebreaker?" I retrieved my sword and answered, "Let's do this Water boy."

We circled each other with me making the first move this time trying to use a similar technique as Percy had used to disarm me, but he was prepared and parried and tried for a counter-attack which I blocked we parried for a moment before Percy kicked my legs out from beneath me and took my sword as I was on the ground.

Percy put a knee on my chest and asked one simple question "Do you yield." I sighed mentally scolding myself for two losses in one day, but I still answered "Yes".

Percy took his knee off me and stood up and held out his hand to help me up instead I kicked his legs out from under him and he landed on his back and my knee was on his chest just as he had done to me a minute ago and I asked "do you yield" in a mocking tone as well as trying to impersonate him he just laughed and laid back responding "sure".

I bent down and kissed as I had done the previous night before laying down beside him which surprised me but looking over she saw it surprised him as well.

Percy broke the silence by saying "That was nice" I just laughed and looked at him saying "Is that all you have to say" to which he replied " I think that pretty well sums it"

I just sighed and laid my head on his chest. I asked him "What are you thinking about, this quest?"

He sighed, responding "I trust Frank and Hazel. I think they know what needs to be done, but I am gonna miss this place even though I've only been here a few days there is a thing or two that makes it nice."

I smiled realizing what or more of who he was talking about.

Satisfied by his answer I stood up and helped him up as well.

I was feeling even giddier than I had the previous night, but for good measure, I looked at Percy's sea green eyes once again entranced by them I leaned forward and gave him a good long kiss, and after a second of surprise, he kissed back all while neither of them broke eye contact.

Once they parted Percy just smiled like an idiot and his cheeks were red but from the heat on my face I knew mine were as well. I looked at Percy and smiled and said "Goodnight and thank you" he just nodded still in shock and we went our separate ways to our respective dwellings.
