Spider-Man made his choice, webbing a hold of the bomb before it could enter the apartment. There was no way he'd ever let someone die, even if he didn't like Eddie that much, no way he'd go that far. Even if a small part of him was nagging at him to tear the Green Goblin apart instead.
The bomb still went off, damaging a part of the building. Spider-Man went inside to check on the situation, finding The Sandman.
"Ah Sandman, I should've expected this. Shouldn't I have?" He shrugged.
"Yeah, you should've a little creep! Probably should have kept that dumb mouth shut huh!" Sandman replied cocky.
Spider-Man webbed his mouth shut. "How about I shut yours up instead sandy?" He then smacked his sandy face and webbed onto a table throwing it at him. "Best thing about you is I can finally cut loose!" Upon saying that, he proved it by crashing his foe through a floor into the next apartment beating down on the sand.
While that happened, Eddie rushed over to his family. "Let's go! He took that sand guy out of here!"
His wife immediately listened, rushing out with their child with Brock right behind, just in the nick of time too as Green Goblin, fed up with Sandman's performance, fired a rocket from his glider into the apartment blowing it up starting a fire.
"Oh I love fireworks!" Goblin laughed flying around. "How many more explosions can we cause here, I wonder hmm?" He was interrupted by Osborn taking control again.
"What's wrong with you! Stop this right now!" Osborn exclaimed, trying to fight Green Goblin's control, until he started laughing again.
"Can it! This is me time!" He was about to fire again, until Spider-Man busted through a wall looking pissed off webbing into the glider making Goblin crash into the building for a moment until getting back on course.
Spider-Man tried rushing towards his dangerous foe. "You're really, really getting on my nerves Goblin! I'm going to be sending you to the funny farm!"
"Perhaps one day, but not today Spider-Man! After all, you still have to contend with the Sandman!" He laughed as what he said came to pass, as Sandman came rushing over blasting him with sand and punching him through a wall.
"This isn't going well." Spider-Man remarked and felt his spider-sense continuing to go off seeing another pumpkin heading his way, which he avoided, but the blast made the costume start to freak out for a moment. "What was that about? The explosion? You really didn't like that." He wondered.
Spider-Man moved himself out of the way trying to catch his barings. "I need to focus on minimizing damage. No, I need to tear Goblin apart! What? Why would I think of doing that? How would it help?"
The Green Goblin started to fly around in cycles. "Come out, come out!" He exclaimed, then noticed a large swat team was pulling up, with a lot of police and fire department to boat. "Oh dear, perhaps a little too much for this Goblin to contend with, now anyways!" He flew off laughing.
Great, being a coward let him get away! Peter thought to himself, then noticed Sandman trying to escape. Oh no you don't. He rushed over busting open a water hose on one of the firetrucks blasting down Sandman into mud. Running over using his extremely sticky webbing to keep him trapped. "Not getting away this time are you?"
The officers pointed their weapons at Spidey.
He looked over at them aggravated. "Come on! Are you serious! Forget the bounty, let me help! Look I even caught a bad guy, why are we going backwards?"
They gave a warning shot, which made Spider-Man even more unhappy, holding back his rage to lash out any further with them swinging off now leaving them Sandman, which they thankfully understood and took him away immediately.
Now, Spider-Man rushed off to see Doctor Conners, determined to get to the bottom of what exactly his suit was. Assuming the doctor would even want to see him now. He creeped inside trying to stay undetected.
"Doc Conners? Are you here?" Spider-Man asked, finding him sitting around looking concerned about something, probably him.
"That suit, you're not wearing it. That's wearing you. It's trying to bond with you, symbiosis, take control of you and replace you even potentially. Or I could be wrong, it is trying to stick to you permanently for a beneficial relationship. Regardless, the point stands. It's trying to stay with you."
Peter was surprised and horrified. "Trying to bond? Okay, should I get rid of this then?" He asked for Conner's option. "No, I should keep it. The powers it's granting me, why should I give up the power?" He then stated.
Doctor Conners looked at him confused. "You changed your mind pretty quickly, didn't you?" He pointed out rightfully.
"I didn't realize I said that." Peter replied, trying to think.
"What if that replied for you? The symbiote?" He suggested.
He scoffed at that. "Yeah right, it can't control my thoughts or influence me, right?"
Conners nodded with a sigh. "It can actually. You have got to ditch it!"
Spider-Man turned his back. "I'll think about it." He simply said and left, leaving Doctor Conners behind looking concerned.
Maybe I can finally go home, I can sleep on this. He thought to himself, feeling like he really didn't want to lose the power of the black suit.
Elsewhere in the city Green Goblin returned to his lair, the hideout of Hammerhead finding the villain looking furious.
"Are you outta your mind Goblin freak! Blowing up a building and attacking the police, everyone is going to know what went down now!" Hammerhead exclaimed.
Goblin laughed. "And what's your point? I am in charge, you would be wise to watch how you speak to me, little man!" Grabbing his hand. "Do you feel strong now hmm? Like a tough guy in control? You listen to me, Hammerhead!"
He accepted it. "Alight, alright! You win Goblin! You win!" Hammerhead exclaimed and was thrown across the room.
"Pitiful. Now, don't ask stupid questions! My leadership is perfect!" He then grabbed his head. "Now, keep your work up. I want business to continue along, money, money! I've got to walk a dog in the meantime and deliver this rock to a benefactor." He then flew back out heading away once more, feeling Osborn fighting to take control.
Hammerhead grit his teeth heading outside to speak to his goons who weren't scared of The Green Goblin. "He's gotta go. We need to all work together, to take out that freak. You're all with me right?"
His thugs nodded.
"Good! Smart lot aren't you? Come on, let's form a plan. We're killing ourselves a Goblin boys! I think I know the right guy for the job too!" Hammerhead smirked, forming a plan to take on Green Goblin.
Of course, unknown to him. One of his guys wasn't telling the truth, spying for Goblin keeping an eye on Hammerhead planning on spilling what happened.
Peter went right to sleep, lasting for a few hours now into the day time. That was until he was awoken by Aunt May.
"Are you okay? You are an exhausted young man! It's dinner time!" She immediately said as he stretched, waking up.
"Oh wow? Really almost dinner?" Peter didn't intend on sleeping that long.
She nodded. "Mary Jane and Harry visited to check on you, both separately but they seemed worried about you. Haven't seen you really the past couple of days, got all worried and now with you sleeping so long, I am too!"
Peter brushed it off, ignoring it. "That's fine. I'll see them when I feel like it."
"Well, actually Mary Jane came again to check on you. That's partially why I came to wake you up! Maybe you should go out to dinner with her! She always makes you feel better doesn't she?" Aunt May smiled.
"Yeah, sure." Peter replied dismissively, not even realizing he was acting that way heading down stairs.
"Peter? Are you okay?" MJ asked immediately.
He nodded and waved. "Yeah, I'm just fine."
She looked in disbelief about his response. "Let's talk outside, now."
Peter sighed and accepted heading outside with her. "What exactly is the problem MJ? I've just been busy."
"You're not acting like yourself, I spoke to Ava and we agree, your acting way too brutal, completely not like yourself! It's something with that suit or clearly something happened and you haven't told me!" Mary Jane said confronting him.
"Oh please, you're overreacting! I don't like knowing you're talking behind my back with White Tiger. I'm your friend, not her." Peter dismissed.
MJ stared at him. "This isn't you."
"And how exactly would you know that hmm?" Peter remarked and then came to his senses shaking his head. "Woah, what's going on? You look mad, did I say something bad? I think I just blacked out. Or sleep walking." He looked very concerned.
Mary Jane believed him. "Peter, what's happening?"
"You're right, it's this suit. I'm not acting like myself. I spoke to Doctor Conners, as Spider-Man and he suspected my suit is an alien trying to bond to me." Peter finally confessed to her.
"An alien? Oh my god, you need to get rid of that!" MJ replied, shocked.
"You're right, I really need to." He replied genuinely, then started thinking in his head. No, I can't lose the power. Not until I take on Green Goblin, this is my best chance at taking him down! He reasoned, deciding to keep it, against better judgements.
He then smiled, becoming a better liar, thanks to the suit. "Alright, I'm going to get rid of this. Permanently. How about after I make it up to you and Harry and Gwen too. A friend's night out!"
"Sure, just promise me. That suit will be gone, I want to see you in red and blue on the news again. Then we can figure out what to do about this whole bounty nonsense." MJ said, looking at him closely.
"Of course." Peter replied lying, getting a suggestion in his mind that the suit can pretend to be the classic suit. He didn't know where it came from or why it felt okay lying to MJ, but he accepted it. Just feeling tired and not wanting to fight its influence.
Elsewhere, Eddie Brock wasn't having a very good time. Matters were only about to get even worse.
"Excuse me? Witness protection?" He asked, looking confused.
"Yes." The mysterious man in black who had taken his family into custody with the police replied. "You are obviously deep into the criminal world, Mr Brock and now they're targeting your family. Witness protection for them is a must." The man explained.
Brock looked concerned. "You said them? Not us?"
The man nodded. "You're in too deep, could get us useful information with your placement, why would we get you off the street?"
"Are you kidding me? I got a baby! I'm not leaving my family!" Brock responded furiously standing up.
"Sit down." The man said standing up as well, looking more intimidating. "You don't get a choice here Brock. Either help us, or jail time." The man threatened.
"Excuse me?"
The man leaned in closer. "I know a lot about you. Would it really be a stretch saying you withheld information about The Sin Eater case? That if not for Spider-Man, he'd likely still be out there killing people?"
"How did that little creep help! He's got a bounty on his head right now, does that seem like a trustworthy place for information?" Brock snapped back.
"Spider-Man or not, I'm going to push that little tidbit of information. Thanks to him, you might be looking at jail time buddy." The guy replied, looking smug.
"Where do you get off threatening people? Are you serious?"
The man looked serious and didn't respond to that.
He sighed. "What do you want from me?"
"Keep digging into the underground, I want to know more about what's going on. This Green Goblin character in particular." The man said, then looked at the door, seeing Captain Watanabe come in.
"We're talking outside." She immediately said and the guy listened following.
Eddie wasn't sure of what they were discussing, sitting in his chair looking concerned about what was happening. Shortly they returned, with the captain leaving looking quite unhappy with their conversation.
"Looks like your mine Brock." The man smirked. .
Peter went out to fight crime during the day, slowly turning into night, pretending he was once more wearing his red and blues acting more of a friendly neighborhood Spider-Man as he should.
It felt nice being back to normal, it did give time to have some of his thoughts to become clearer not having influence over him. Now saving people, instead of kicking bad guys around the city.
Ultimately, it did the trick as news helicopters were keeping a close eye on him, until one issue popped up.
One person Spidey went to help, wasn't exactly seeking help pulling a gun on him trying to shoot. "I'm getting that money freak!"
Spider-Man, naturally unhappy, webbed them to the wall and ripped the gun in two. "Try that again and next time it'll be your head!" He exclaimed, getting in the guy's face, then backed up. "I need to calm down. Forget I said that!" He then swung away, with thankfully nobody hearing that remark.
I'm going to be seeing my friends again today! I can't be acting this way around them! Is Green Goblin really worth this risk? Or course he is. Goblin needs to go down, he's out of his mind! And I'll be ready for our next fight. He won't escape me, not again. Peter thought to himself, now heading back home to change back for the night out.
Norman Osborn meanwhile had returned to Oscorp, with the valuable rock in hand heading to see Stromm to study it. The Goblin's voice was in his head however.
Forget the rock! We have more important work to do! The Green Goblin exclaimed, sounding furious.
"Quit it. Promethium X is all that matters now, if we can use its powersource, imagine what we could accomplish! I could." He remarked, stopping for a moment speaking out loud and shook his head. "My company is where our resources come from, don't you want me to be successful? That's why you exist isn't it?" Osborn questioned.
Yes, yes, of course! We can accomplish our goals in much easier ways, ones of force! Taking control and not letting anyone stand in our way! What is that business suit getting you hmm? Nothing!
"You're wrong! Now shut it!" Osborn replied back and stepped in front of Stromm, handing him the rock.
"Incredible, you managed to find it? I'll study it immediately!" Stromm replied excited as could be grabbing it carefully bringing it off to a microscope.
Osborn sat down. "The Goblin's influence is getting stronger. I need to find a way to prevent this. Now, do you understand? If he takes over, who knows how much damage he could begin to cause! He's already been extremely busy."
While he spoke, Stromm looked concerned, putting the rock inside of a machine. "We'll think of something sir. There must be a solution to the issue with that Goblin. In the meantime sir, I think we might have another issue."
"What exactly is that Stromm?" Osborn questioned coming over.
"Well, I'm not detecting anything remarkable about the Promethium X. Surely I'd be able to scan something important right? There are trace amounts, but not nearly enough for anything remarkable! We had been told this could have a power source!" Stromm exclaimed, confused deeply.
Osborn shook his head and came to check for himself. "No, no. This can't be true! There is no sign of a power source, there was before! We had it confirmed!"
"Let me do more tests, I've got a theory. Perhaps leaving its planetary place caused it to revert to a regular old rock? If we could've gotten our hands on it sooner, perhaps we could've done something?" Stromm suggested.
Osborn looked furious. "Hammerhead then, if he hadden stolen it, we could've used this power to change the world! His stupidity ruined everything!" He then started laughing. "I'm going to have to pay him a visit." Green Goblin smiled.
Elsewhere, Peter was heading out to meet up with his friends. I can do this. MJ will never know I haven't ditched the suit. This is going to be easy, just a nice time out with my best friends in the world.
Peter met up with them. "Hey everyone."
"You came! Wow!" Harry exclaimed, surprised. "It's been awhile since I saw you pal!"
"It hasn't really been that long." Peter replied dismissively.
MJ looked at him. "Let's just have fun tonight."
"Agreed." Gwen added in.
"I'd love to have a nice night, it's been forever. Been so busy." Peter responded, shrugging heading inside as a group.
They all sat down and started ordering dinner.
"This is on you right Harry?" Peter asked sarcastically, while also having a rude tone of voice to his friend.
"Yeah of course I am. Don't worry about it! We're just going to have a great dinner today!" Harry replied back.
Gwen looked over at Peter. "Why exactly have you been so busy lately?" She then questioned looking unsure.
"Oh you know, Bugle stuff." Peter responded.
"Very specific." Gwen remarked, rolling her eyes.
Peter looked annoyed and took a deep breath. "So, how's your dad doing? I hope he's been looking healthier." He asked, changing subjects.
"He has been doing better Peter. Thankfully so, now please do me a favor and stop avoiding the subject. We're all worried about you." Gwen continued saying not wanting to let it get interrupted.
MJ sighed, hating to keep it from both of them about everything that was happening with Peter in his life and the biggest thing of course.
"I'm aware of that, thank you for being worried. Could we just forget about that for tonight at least huh?" Peter asked, looking unhappy with Gwen.
"I'd happen to agree!" Harry jumped in.
Gwen crossed her arms. "I feel as if you're lying." She said confrontinel.
Having enough Peter wasn't taking her attitude anymore, from his perspective. "Alright, have you talked more about going to London with Harry hmm? That seems like a far more pressing matter don't you think Gwen?" He remarked with a stuck up mocking tone in his voice.
"That's none of your business. We weren't ready to talk about it yet, that's a big discussion and doesn't involve you." Gwen replied.
"Oh well if that's the case, Harry probably shouldn't have told me about planning on breaking up with you, only not going through with it cause your dad was in the hospital. After all, it's none of my business right?" Peter remarked mockingly.
MJ glared at him, suspecting highly that the suit wasn't gone.
"You wanted to break up?" Gwen immediately asked, looking at Harry.
"Pete, what's the matter with you? Why would you say that!" Harry replied looking right at him looking unhappy to say the least.
Gwen looked pissed at Harry. "So it's true then! You were keeping that from me? How dare you treat me that way! Haven't you learned anything?"
"You really want to do this right now?"
"Yes, I do. We should talk about this. I don't care who hears it, I want this to be dealt with right now." Gwen replied.
Peter rolled his eyes and stood up. "Have fun." He now went to leave, with MJ heading right after him.
"Peter! You didn't get rid of the suit! Did you?" MJ questioned furiously.
"I need it! This is the only way of beating The Green Goblin! You've gotta understand, this is the only choice I've got MJ! I hear this voice telling me it is." Peter then confessed to her. "That sounded bad. In fact, what'd I even say to Gwen? I kinda am having a bit of trouble remembering right about now."
MJ stared at him. "You have to get rid of that suit, right now! Can't you see the damage it's doing to you! Please for heaven's sake get rid of it now!"
"This is the only way!" Peter shouted back.
She sighed looking at him. "You have to remember who you are and what you're fighting for, in your heart. Who you really are."
He scoffed. "That's just silly. I have to go on patrol, this whole dinner was a mistake." Peter revealed his suit was only faking real clothing, changing back to his black suit immediately before her and swinging off.
Elsewhere, Hammerhead was being quite cocky, celebrating with his gang who now hired an expensive assassin. Unfortunately, this wasn't going to go as planned.
Green Goblin arrived busting in, blowing a hole into his hideout which he believed was well hidden, but was wrong. Goblin was laughing all the way coming inside. "Celebrating are we? Shame it ends now!"
"How'd you find us!" Hammerhead exclaimed, reaching for a gun. "Someone call our hitman!" He then shouted.
"Oh? Taskmaster? Yes, yes. I heard you hired him. So I gave him a better deal to back right off! Double what you paid! I had to use all of your savings! And even my own!" He continued to laugh.
Hammerhead's face turned red. "How the devil did you get a hold of my money you freak? You're lying!"
"No, no. I most certainly am not! Not that it matters, after all your miserable little life is about to end Hammiehead!" He laughed and threw a pumpkin bomb at him, causing him to begin to run away heading outside.
"Start the car! We're outta here!" He shouted and leaped into a car, with the driver starting to try speeding away.
Naturally, Green Goblin was right on his tail. Flying right close by, now grinning, firing a rocket at the car making it explode and crash. Goblin flew over, confirming that his assasination went smoothly. Hammerhead was now dead.
Laughing he went back over to his thugs. "Your boss is gone! For good! You all work for me now! Unless you don't want to live any longer!" He chuckled landing on the ground, looking at a blood vial for a moment putting it back in his glider. "Now the first order of business, we have a spider to lure out! I want Spider-Man dead within the next 24 hours! I'm going to kill him myself!" He declared with a sinister grin.
Thanks for reading as always, I can't believe it's 2024 now. Was actually afraid of having this going on for this long, my fears were justified lol. Don't have much to say, just holding out hope this will finally be done by the end of 2024. My head changed so much over these 6 years? Sorry for any and all inconsistencies. My head just hurts thinking how long I've been at this (:
(That was written at the start of the year, above)
I don't have anything else to say. Just wanted to point it out…lol?
To CG
Thank you for your continued patience. Hope the year has been treating you well. I don't actually have much to say unfortunately other than I'm in the process of getting Batwoman episode 3 along. Though I am having some trouble with getting started, hopefully I will push myself to get moving on that soon. I'm very sorry for how slow season 3 has been progressing so far. Really hope to turn it around soon. I expect to be less busy now, so hopefully that will help.
