Peter Parker was hoping for a day filled with relaxation, two days after his encounter with Venom and all the chaos that brought. However, Spider-Man was contacted by Foswell about an important meeting supposedly taking place later in the day. He wanted to meet in person, not wanting to speak on the phone naturally.

"I just wanted a relaxful time, I mean I've been falling behind in my classes lately. Ah knew I would have to get back into the old saddle soon right?" Spider-Man said over the phone to Mary Jane. "Can't forget about Doctor Conners and Gwen too, really need to meet up with them. Heard something about an advancement. There is just so much to keep track of!"

"Well, you're a smart guy, you'll catch up. At least on what happens. Hopefully whatever Mr. Foswell wants won't be too time consuming. Know you believe in the curse of jinxing so will leave it at that." She remarked and sounded like she was walking outside stopping for a second.

Peter got a little concerned. "Are you okay?"

"Perfectly fine, it's okay Peter. Know you must be more on edge still right?"

With a nod and sigh, it was impossible to disagree. "Life has been nuts lately you know? An alien, that Green Goblin. At least Venom is definitely in San Francisco. I saw a report about a creature terrifying criminals. Still, I keep waiting now for The Green Goblin to pop back out. Or Hobgoblin for that matter. Or even Doctor Octopus!"

"It'll be fine, you always find a way to fight back. Well, see you later. Going to go see Sally now she wants to go out. Just a girl's night so don't be jealous."

"I could never have a jealous bone in my body. Only aching ones." He replied sarcastically. "See you later."

Spider-Man landed on a rooftop finding Foswell. "Hello, your favorite sarcastic hero has arrived!" He exclaimed stretching, also feeling a little pain from the previous fight.

"Nice to see you, Spider-Man. Glad you're still kicking considering everything, happy to see you survived the bounty on your head."

"Yeah." He scratched his head. "Me too, any news on John?"

Foswell thought about it for a moment. "Jonah's not really talked about it, but yeah his son is thankfully healing. It's a wonderful blessing that things are looking up now. Along with you keeping Mary Jane safe, can't quite understand why that monster would bring your fight to her street."

Hearing this was a tad bit concerning, he wasn't a stupid man and Peter didn't even consider the consequences of having Venom around his home. The only thing going through his head during that time was keeping damage to a minimum. "That alien, it saw that I was there and protected her before. See that monster was feeling in a petty mood and wanted to hurt one of the people I saved. Was heading to other places too, but I managed to stop it." Peter lied, finding it easier now. A somewhat depressing realization, telling lies to people who care was becoming not so hard. What did that really say about himself he wondered.

"Ah makes sense, I hope he'll never return then. Suppose it's a relief you had your new friend there. The White Tiger? Think she'd be up for an interview?

Peter chuckled softly. "Sorry Foswell, doubtful. Us heroes wearing masks, I guess you could say we're more prone to be anti-social."

With a laugh too he couldn't help agreeing. "Onto business. In a couple of hours, there will be a meeting at Oscorp. Two men. Donald Menkin and more importantly, Richard Fisk will be meeting to discuss something. If Norman Osborn will be present is anyone's guess. I just know what a contact in Fisk's cycle told me."

"Anything else? Like if this is a trap? I think both of us know that Richard Fisk is certainly the Rose! Son following in daddy's dearest's footsteps, only this time he's being more careful wearing that mask."

"I agree with you Spider-Man, hopefully this meeting can get us answers. I have a feeling it could be a play for the underworld considering Hammerhead is dead either him or those Goblins will try something."

Spider-Man put a hand on his chin. "Right, could even attack this meeting. Oscorp is a huge building, any clue where it could be inside?"

"Indeed I do. My contact has access to Fisk's tracker. He likes keeping his locations traced at all times. Though as you can imagine, it mysteriously goes dead often. Hopefully today isn't one of these times." Tossed Spider-Man the tracker.

"Oh great, something else to worry about." Spider-Man remarked and looked at the edge of the building. "Suppose better get a move on. Best to get ready watching that slippery guy. Better to be careful too, don't want to blow your buddy's cover."

Foswell nodded and gave a thumbs up. "Definitely appreciated Spider-Man."

With that said and done, he leaped off swinging away. I hope Richard Fisk and his goons aren't too observant.

Within two hours of waiting and now following along, Spider-Man was chasing him down and keeping a good distance. This meeting better be worth the wait. He thought to himself watching as Fisk walked inside of Oscorp. Just the thought of chasing down a Fisk again and having to fight once more, that wasn't exactly a happy thought. It was frankly really worrying. His father was hard enough to bring down. It seemed likely the son had learned from the mistakes of the father.

With waiting a few more minutes, the meeting seemed to start as the two men began to sit down in a blacked out office. Fortunately Peter had found an air duct to sneak into getting inside of the building.

I should be able to get close enough, I bet they weren't expecting me to find a way inside to listen in or that I'd find out about their meeting. At least I hope this isn't all an elaborate trap. After Venom, I'm not sure if I can fully trust my spider-sense anymore. I hope it wasn't all knocked out of whack.

Getting into position he started to listen and brought out a device.

"Mr. Fisk. I'm glad we can finally meet in person."

The son of the Kingpin took a sip of an expensive looking drink. "Yes, well. This was important. You promised this wouldn't be made clear to Osborn correct?"

"Of course, I'm aware of the past dealing with you father. Know he'd never agree to this sit down. Nor the offer."

"Top of the line weapons. Wonderful. My only question is how do you plan on getting this over on him?" Fisk wondered.

With a little smirk he took a drink of his own. "I've been funneling things under Osborn's nose for years. This year has proven it to become even easier. He's been distracted, no doubt by the Hobgoblin character in part."

"Yes, we both have a lot to be thankful for from The Hobgoblin. What of the other Goblin, that Green one. I'm concerned about him. Seems clear to me the city is in considerable danger from that most dangerous man. I have legitimate business I want to keep safe. Thus, the weapons. All for defense."

Mankin didn't seem convinced by that, but what did he care? It wasn't going to affect his dealings under the table.

"I was hoping our partner could be here for this too, we had questions of where Hobgoblin got his weapons. Considering it seems to be Oscorp designed, but modified isn't it strange?" Fisk pointed out.

He scoffed. "Kingsley stole some blueprints before and the original Hobgoblin's gear after his untimely death. Why do you wonder so much?"

"We're a curious bunch. How we stay alive. My partner wanted to know. As The Crime Master wasn't available I'm afraid in person I'm afraid." Fisk remarked.

"The what!?" Spider-Man accidently let slip.

Mankin didn't hear this, but Richard Fisk looked around the room. "Is the building secure from a little spider invading?"

Crap. Time to scram. He thought started to crawl away as Fisk got on the phone, but Spider-Man wasn't going to wait away to hear that. He had successfully gotten what he was after.

In no time, he was outside. "Okay, now what? Should make sure that recording worked correctly. If it didn't I sw-"

He was interrupted by gunshots coming his direction. "Now what?"

A strange masked man with a B on his face came charging at Spider-Man.

"Who are you supposed to be? The B man?" He remarked with sarcasm and webbed onto the gun jamming it.

"Call us, Bounty."

Spider-Man nodded. "Right, so what are your pronouns?"

His spider sense went off again as he moved out of the way. Two more dressed exactly the same where there now. "Okay, my mistake. You brought friends."

"Our team of killers are here to finally deal with you. Spider-Man. On behalf of our benefactor who you should've not been listening to." The first one said as a few more looking the same appeared.

"Great grief. Can we talk about this? I've been having a rough go of things. Could we just call it quits, please?"

They all looked at each other, then processed to pull out weapons of all types and sizes surrounding the hero.

"Ah fine. Let's get on with this." Spider-Man said and jumped downward, throwing himself attacking one from behind and started to avoid gunfire. "Watch the guns! Friendly fire hello!"

From the countuined fire, it appeared as these Bounty characters didn't really particularly care about that.

Spider-Man started smacking away the guns and webbed onto their hands bunching them all together. It briefly worked, but they started to break away and get each other loose quickly keeping their teamwork clear.

Why am I even fighting these nutcases? I have what I need. Dying here wouldn't exactly help matter would it? He realized and jumped away starting to swing away but was shot at still by the group.

Turned out they had grappling hooks.

Ah well that explains how they got up here. Why can't anything ever be easy? Well web swinging is faster then super spies over there.

Spider-Man kept swinging away and was relentlessly pursued by a couple of the Bounty hunters who seemed angry. Well, I might as well deal with a couple of them first. Would feel bad going home empty handed. He turned back and kicked the two over grabbing a hold of them with two webs pulling them along. "Hold on tight gang!"

From there it was easy to bring them away heading toward the nearest police station to deliver them. A few more of the cranky Bounty bunch were coming still but they weren't nearly fast enough to catch up to Spider-Man. Even with only one hand to swing.

In no time at all, he arrived at the station. Captain Watanabe was around who didn't look happy seeing the hero arrive.

"Hello officers. Those two chuckle heads just tried to murder me. And they're accomplices might be nearby. You all aren't going to shoot me are you?" Spider-Man asked a little on edge, dropping down the criminals.

They stared at the hero for a moment before lowering their weapons.

"It's fine Spider-Man. We'll take it from here." The captain said and got a couple of the officers to take them away.

He looked relieved. "Okay, great. So, I have a recording that I want to share with all of you then. Probably for the best to get as many ears as possible to incriminate Richard Fisk and a higher up at Oscorp!" Spider-Man revealed his recording device and started to play it. Only to get static. "What?!" He tried it again and again, realizing something had gone wrong.

"I'm guessing that wasn't what you expected?"

Spider-Man was frustrated and went back swinging quickly away. I can't believe it! Lost my recording of the whole conversation! When did I lose it? Those killers? Or was the room having some sort of a jamming device? Right now I'm thinking of getting a confession from Fisk the old fashion way.

He went right back to the Oscorp building and found the vehicle of Fisk landing on top of it knocking on the window. "Alright! I know exactly who you are and I won't let you get away with anything else!"

Richard looked mildly annoyed rolling down the window. "I'm a respected citizen. Not a criminal, what are you doing? Hit your head? Got a shock to the brain?"

Unamused Spider-Man reached through the window grabbing onto him. "Your father was a criminal and I won't let you continue his legacy! I won't let you kill anyone!"

"His legacy? I could care less about his legacy. I deeply despise him and everything he brought to my family! My mother. Believe me Spider-Man. We hate my father the exact same. If not more from my part."

"Really? You two are very alike! Both trying to grab control of the underworld!"

Richard scoffed, looking away from the hero. "You clearly haven't been paying that close attention. My goals aren't the same."

All this was going out of Spider-Man's ears as he was really feeling tempted to give the man a good smack around. This was until he came to his senses. What am I doing? He let go of this enemy and started to swing away before stopping and pulling off his mask in frustration after finding a private place.

I really have messed up today. Thought it would be an easy slam dunk to get them all on tape and put away some bad guys. Richard Fisk is right. Maybe I don't know what's going on. I should've been paying more attention! Ned Leeds might be back in the picture and could be the Hobgoblin. Really any of them could be. Wish would catch a break in figuring out my double Goblin problem. At least can tell Mr. Foswell about what I heard. He thought to himself, swinging off to tell him. On the way Peter continued on with thinking heavily. Ned has been off the radar for months, could his next plan be in motion now? Sure there has to be a darn good reason why he's silent. Working with Richard Fisk and that other creep would explain things. His original plan of controlling crime didn't work. Then again, why would he work with a Fisk? He hates The Kingpin was so close to killing him. Could it all be part of an elaborate revenge plan? A double team to kill Kingpin? Though no honor among crocks. They'd easily turn on each other in a heartbeat! They'd never be able to agree to working together. Something just isn't quite adding up. I hope to find out an answer soon. One less fear of the unknown around me.

Shortly Peter arrived to meet up with Foswell in the same meeting place but found the man pacing around on the rooftop all worked up. Now what could possibly be the matter? This day is not going too well.

He landed and tapped on Foswell's shoulder. "What's up?"

"Did you get the recording? Is this nightmare over with Fisk?"

Peter sighed under the mask and sat down. "Not quite. My tape got jammed completely and there were marcs waiting for me. Worst of all. I heard that your ex coworker Ned Leeds, he's back in the picture somehow."

"Oh god, that's not good. Not at all. Was fearful of the young man's return, how the police haven't found him is beyond me. Though I suppose with what I've learned, maybe it's not as surprising." He started to trail off.

Spider-Man looked puzzled. "What do you mean by that?"

"Don't get upset, but you need to hear this. It's about Captain Stacy, I know you have some sort of a friendship with the man."

"What's wrong? Did something happen? Is someone targeting him again?"

Foswell paused and hit his finger. "He's actually going to be brought in for questioning, you see. Stan Carter. Even being dead, he made accusations. Ones that seem to be not incorrect I'm afraid to say."

"What!?"

"Stacy's being accused of murder Spider-Man." Foswell outright said.

(Below was written, again, sometime ago)

Thank you for continuing to read along with the story. This is the beginning of the next bunch of stories, the ending is closer in sight. I actually changed my mind on what this chapter after Venom was originally going to be, this was meant to be 77 but I decided on cutting out the fat. Ultimately, it was just going to be a big tease and seemed clever in theory until actually trying to write it. Was a complete disaster. I feel insecure about the progression of this series, my head has been over changing these last 5 years. What seemed like a good idea before even just a year ago doesn't seem like such a good idea anymore. It's too bad that in all these years nobody has reviewed the story and would honestly like to know if anybody's happy being along for this ride lol. Oh well it doesn't matter. To anyone who enjoys it, I'm glad. Hope you do keep enjoying the story until the end. Next chapter will be a reckoning for the perception of Stacy…
