It was here that Makigami revealed her intentions as she turns around. "Well, I thought I'd use this opportunity to take your Byakushiki."
"What?"
"Just give it to me already!" Makigami yelled before she raises a leg.
*POW*
"Uwagh!"
Ichika is kicked roughly and his back hits the lockers, air leaving his lungs briefly before he recovers.
"Wh-Who are you?" He asked.
"Me? A mysterious beauty… in the guise of a saleswoman!"
Makigami's back suddenly warps and changes before six spider-like appendages pop out.
"Happy now?" She asked.
In response, Ichika activates his IS. "Byakushiki!"
"I've been waiting for you to do that!" Autumn cried out.
Trapped underground, coming face to face with this threat, Ichika will have to battle alone. Hopefully though, someone will take notice of the commotion and send aid. Until then, he is on his own.

(Raiden is shown next as he turns around with his Sakabatō before sheathing it before he is replaced with the title of Infinite Stratos 2.)
Autumn charges forth with one of her pincers. "Take this!"
Bringing up one of her arms, she fires a railgun blast at Ichika.
*BOOM*
But the Byakushiki pilot jumps up and over the lockers, dodging the blast. Unfortunately, he hits his back on the ceiling of the locker room.
An amused Autumn responds, "Oh? You're pretty good!"
As Ichika recovers, he asks, "Makigami-san from Mitsurugi, was it? Why are you doing this?"
Autumn scoffs, "That was just a name I made up to get in. Now check this out, brat!"
Autumn soon jumps in the air and, after a twist and turn that shreds her clothes, a flash of white light envelopes her body before it dies down to reveal an Infinite Stratos, in the form of a spider. It had a spider-like form with eight armored and armed mechanical legs that increase its capabilities in close-quarters combat. Furthermore, the pilot's own arms are left to perform attacks even when the IS's legs are grappling on something
Ichika was stunned. "What? An IS?!"
"That's right," Autumn confirmed. "This is Arachne. Her poison is really something! Take this!"
With all six of her legs, Autumn fires at Ichika. At a disadvantage and in an enclosed space, Ichika takes off to get to cover but Autumn just continues firing in order to snuff him out, walking and laughing as she does.
"Who the hell are you?" Ichika demanded.
"What? You still don't get it?" asked Autumn as she pushes a locker out of the way, prompting Ichika to get out of cover.
"Haah!" He charges in hoping to grasp her with his Particle Cannon but she simply jumps back and like a spider, hangs onto the wall with all eight of her appendages.
"I'm from what you might call an 'evil organization.'" Autumn snarks with a chuckle.
"Don't screw with me!" Ichika cried.
"Heh. You think I'm joking, you little brat?" Autumn lands. "Would you recognize me if I told you I'm Autumn from the secret organization Phantom Task?"
Ichika prepares himself yet asks, "Phantom Task?"
"Never heard of it? Then I'll tell you about it before I send you to Hell!"
Autumn resumes her firepower as Ichika jumps up and comes down with Yukihira.
"I got you!" He cried.
"Nice try!" Autumn retorted.
*DING*
A simple block using her appendages forces Ichika back, staggered before he recovers and goes back in. The two soon engage in CQC.
*DING*
*BANG*
*CLANG*
'She's got too many arms! In that case…'
Powering up his wings, Ichika goes in, prompting Autumn to thrust with one of her bladed legs. But Ichika moves under the attack, dodging it. And with Yukihira…
*SLICE*
He manages to slice that leg off.
"What?" Autumn was stunned.
"All right, just gotta keep this up!" Ichika said as he moves in. He tries to swing again, but the jumping spider evades quickly and then, using the momentum of her body…
*POW*
Kicks Ichika right across the face.
"Gaah!"
*BAM*
And he is sent crashing into one of the lockers. His head is then grabbed by an arrogant Autumn.
"Trying to be cute with me, huh?" Autumn asked before she raises her left hand. She then conjures up a Norinco Carbine Machine gun and fires at point blank range, draining Ichika's shield energy.
'I can't let this go on!'
Using the boosters on his wings again, Ichika pops out the dust and smoke to use as a screen to distract Autumn and escape from her grasp. Then he engages her again in CQC with Yukihira.
"Not bad, brat!" Autumn complimented.
"Shut up!" Ichika retorted as he flips back.
"Ooh, pretty intimidating!" Autumn mocks before she fires her machine gun.
Instead of dodging though, Ichika covers himself, standing his ground from the blasts. His shield energy draining fast by the second.
MEANWHILE…
"An unidentified IS has been detected in the locker room!" Yamada-sensei informed Chifuyu, looking over the security camera footage from the command center.
Despite her remote expression, Chifuyu responds, "I knew they'd show up at the day of the school festival. Anyway, I doubt they sent only one person. Yamada-sensei, keep an eye out for enemy reinforcements. Tell the on-equipped students to evacuate."
"Understood," Yamada-sensei complies as she types away evacuation orders.
Chifuyu then holds a hand to her chin as if thinking the next move, concerning one student.
'Now then, where will you be in all this, Raiden?'
AT THE CASTLE SET…
The girls rally together at the play set, apparently standing down as they could not find any sign of the boys.
"Jeez!" Rin pouts. "Where the heck did the boys go?"
"They sure run fast," Houki concurred holding her chest to cover herself.
Laura however scoffs, "This is all you guys' fault for trying to get in between me and Raiden."
"Charlotte-san, this wouldn't have happened if you hadn't tried to cover for Ichika-san," Cecilia told the French woman.
"Let's not play the blame game here," Charlotte tries to defuse.
Alarms soon sounded off, catching the girls' attention. Emergency protocols were soon activated as they then hear the announcement of what was going on.
"There's an unknown IS in the locker room," Yamada-sensei announced over the comm. "It's currently battling the Byaushiki. All students with a personal IS are to deploy and stand by!"
"Understood!" All the girls said.
Together, the girls activate there is. With the Academy under attack, they were the only line off defense between the threat and the students taking shelter.
"Alcott and Huang, you two go on patrol!" Chifuyu ordered.
"Yes, ma'am!" Rin takes off with Cecilia.
"Shinonono, Dunois, and Bodewig are to support Orimura!" Chifuyu ordered next. "Get to the locker room!"
"What about Raiden?" asked Houki.
"We're trying to establish contact, but we can't reach him. He'll most likely meet you there."
"Understood!" Laura nodded.
"All right, let's go," Charlotte suggested as all three take off.
Chifuyu then frowns her eyebrows a bit, wondering about the blind boy.
'Raiden, where are you?'
BACK AT THE LOCKER ROOM…
Autumn continues to fire at Ichika as he takes cover behind the lockers, moving as fast as he can just to avoid her shots. He couldn't stay in one place since the lockers were so easily destroyed by her rapid fire.
'Her pattern of movement…'
He soon recalls the training he had under Tatenashi regarding the Shooter Flow to spin around in a Circle Rondo formation. He soon recalls her instructions regarding the move.
'Your speed is declining! Shift to a straight-line maneuver from the circular orbit of your Shooter Flow.'
Returning to his senses, he finally recognizes it. "Now I know the timing!"
Feeling confident, Ichika accelerates his speed and keeps an eye on his opponent as Autumn continues her fire.
"You annoying brat!" An irritated Autumn gets impatient. Her shots soon become reckless and soon, one of those shots turns off the power, making it completely pitch black before the backup blue power lights kick in.
Autumn soon runs out of ammo, to her confusion.
"Now! Ignition Boost!" Ichika calls out.
He soon charges in, ready to make the final strike.
But Autumn smirks, anticipating his reckless head-on charge. Soon, from her right hand, she fires some form of webbing. An energy net that entangles Ichika like a fly caught in a spider's web.
Laughing, Autumn brings up more of her webs. "Coming at me head-on like that…"
"Damn it…" Ichika struggles to break free, but it was no use. The energy net was too strong and soon he is hoisted up with his arms and legs bound.
"What a piece of cake!" Autumn declared. "That's what you get for underestimating a spider's web! Now it's time for some entertainment."
Autumn soon brings up some sort of device that sprawls out six appendages.
"All right. I'll be taking your Byakushiki," Autumn said as she places the device on Ichika's chest. Once the legs spread and attach themselves to the Orimura, electricity sprouts forth.
"Gaaaahhh!" Ichika screams as he is subsequently tortured.
Autumn laughs. "Oh yeah, I'll let you in on something. The people who kidnapped you during the Second Mondo Grosso were us, Phantom Task! Quite an emotional reunion, isn't it?"
As Autumn laughs, Ichika recalls that terrible day of the 2nd Mondo Grosso when a group of people ambushed and kidnapped him. Chifuyu found him hours later in her IS, but in so doing, forfeited the title of Brunhilde by default. That day had been a thorn in his side for Ichika, knowing that the sister he admired was forced to relinquish her title.
He glares at Autumn upon the revelation of the fact.
"Why, you…" He growled.
"Oh, and one other thing. Your other male friend, Raiden Hataru, worked for us years ago as Hitokiri Kingslayer! All this time, you had the world's most deadliest assassin by your side, never suspecting who he was! How ironic!"
That was another shock to Ichika. At first, when told of the story of Hitokiri Kingslayer, he didn't believe it to be Raiden. Despite the matching description, he didn't believe his friend was that assassin. But now, here was Autumn telling the truth; that Hitokiri Kingslayer i.e. Raiden Hataru had worked with Phantom Task. Whether he still was or he left the organization was unknown, but Ichika didn't believe in the former.
The device continues to torture Ichika more and more as it continues trying to steal his IS.
"I'm done with you, so I'll be killing you!" Autumn declared.
But before she could even make a move…
"Hiten Mitsurugi-Ryū – Ryū Kan Sen Tsumuji!"
From Autumn's left and without warning, a familiar IS with a familiar sword comes rushing in with the Sakabatō drawn.
*BAM*
And strikes Autumn at the midsection in a drilling motion like a torpedo.
"Gwaagh!" Autumn loses air as she is flung away and crashes into the wall.
*BAM*
Raiden arrives and soon cuts down the device using the other side of the Sakabatō.
*SLING*
Ichika is freed of the torture and his IS remains with him.
"R-Raiden?" asked a weakened Ichika.
"Hang on!" Raiden said as he works to free Ichika. "I'll get you out of here."
But Ichika soon sees a charging spider from his left. "Watch out!"
"Haah!" Autumn charges in.
*BOOM*
Autumn soon gets the jump on Raiden as they stumble across the room, but Raiden breaks out and rolls backwards before skidding across the floor. A deranged and annoyed Autumn then saw Raiden as her rage boils over.
"You!" Autumn growled.
"The deception ends here, Autumn," Raiden proclaimed as he points his Sakabatō.
"Does it?" She asked mockingly before she charges in with her bladed legs. "I'd like to see you try, traitor!"
*CLANG*
Both Sakabatō and the remaining bladed spider legs clash as their sparks fly. But despite multiple legs at her disposal, Raiden had the one thing Autumn lacked: cunning.
*BAM*
"Gaah!"
And with one nasty kick from his right leg, Autumn is thrusted back into the wall. But spiders do not go down so easily as she recovers quickly.
"My IS possesses all your strength, speed, and firepower," Autumn cried as she fires away her blasters from her legs.
Raiden dodges the incoming shots and tackles Autumn, only for him to be flipped over in a backwards roll before he recovers.
"Add some more modifications and my combat training from the American Special Forces, and I've clearly achieved the perfect meld of pilot and IS."
*CLANG*
*BANG*
*DING*
The two go back to fighting in close combat with their weapons. Even though Raiden was tempted to flip his sword over to use the sharp side, he knew better than to take that path. Even if it meant to take off one of Autumn's bladed legs, she was still too good of a fighter. If not more than a match for him.
*DING*
Soon, Raiden deflects all the legs and leaves Autumn exposed and out in the open. Without her machine gun, she could not fire at point blank range and she didn't have time to adjust her legs to fire her blasters.
He then charges in with a battōjutsu attack, using the same one he used to defeat Udō Hina last semester when rescuing Houki.
"Hiten Mitsurugi-Ryū – So Ryū—"
*STAB*
"Agh!" Raiden feels a puncture in his left side. Despite having blocked and deflected Autumn's legs and going in for the kill, she snuck up a katar, a kind of Indian dagger native to India, in her right arm and uses it to stab Raiden, catching him off-guard. While his shield and armor protected him, Raiden could still feel the pain of the stab.
"But the key difference between you and me?" Autumn asked delightfully. "You can't kill me because of your stupid vow!"
*SHIINK*
"Gaah!" Raiden groans loudly in pain as the katar goes deeper and he collapses to the left side on the floor.
"Raiden!" Ichika cried, seeing his fallen friend.
A triumphant Autumn laughs. "This is just the beginning. Once I kill you, Squall will no longer have to think of you constantly. And she will finally be mine."
"Ara. That'd be a problem," A new voice popped up. "After all, Ichika-kun and Dear Raiden are my favorites."
Autumn turns around and beholds the Student Council President, Tatenashi Sarashiki, who just stood there nonchalantly with a smile and fan in hand as if nothing bad is happening.
"How the hell did you get in here?" Autumn demanded. "All the systems were locked!"
"T-Tatenashi-san…" Ichika groaned.
Raiden slowly stands up after doing a simple patch job on his wound.
"I'm the student council president of this school, so I'm acting like one," Tatenashi said.
"Hah? What the hell is that supposed to mean?" asked a scoffing Autumn. "Take this!"
With one of her legs, she thrusts it over to Tatenashi who just stood there.
*STAB*
And thrusts it through her body, much to Ichika's horror and Raiden's shock.
Back up top, Rin and Cecilia were on patrol as ordered checking out the surrounding area. With the Academy under attack, they would have to anticipate reinforcements.
"Right side, clear!" Rin announced as she flies by.
"It's all clear over here, too!" Cecilia concurred.
Yamada-sensei however spoke over their comm.
"We've spotted IS moving at high speed!" Yamada-sensei said. "We're counting… oh God, a whole fleet's worth. About six of them!"
"Six IS?!" Rin was shocked. "How can there be that many?"
"Don't let your guard down, you two," Chifuyu advised. "We'll send the others to join you immediately."
"Yes ma'am!" Cecilia nodded.
The two soon get ready to prepare a whole fleet's worth of IS coming in fast.
"We'll stop them right here!" Rin declared.
Once in range, there did indeed seem to be six IS heading their way, with one of them at the forefront and looking like it was modeled after a butterfly. But for the other five IS that looked more like jets than IS, they looked like to be some sort of advanced jet of alien design.
But then suddenly, they shift from their jet mode into what seemed to be their robotic form. These IS appear with a slick thin body with a purple color scheme. They have wings on the side of both of their shoulders from their alternative modes of jets. They have chrome colored heads with a red optic visor.
(Author's Note: For reference, they are the jet flying Vehicons from Transformers Prime. And yes they do transform into their jet modes.)
"IS confirmed!" Rin replied on comm upon scanning in. "We'll engage them immediately!"
The two girls soon move in, but upon seeing the leader of the fleet, Cecilia was stunned, gasping in the process.
"That's impossible!" She said. "BT Mark II, Silent Zephyrus?!"
"What's the matter, Cecilia?" asked Rin as she starts firing her Impact Cannons. "Start shooting!"
Cecilia is snapped out and takes aim. "O-Okay!"
The Silent Zephyrus pilot blocks Cecilia's shots even from a far distance.
"How's that possible?" asked Rin.
"Then how about this?" Cecilia asked as she fires her two salvo missiles.
*ZIING*
*BOOM*
But the missiles are destroyed while homing in on their target, the girls shocked and stunned as they didn't even reach halfway to the Silent Zephyrus.
"That move just now…" Cecilia said. "She pulled off a Flexible with her BT Weapon?! Impossible! I'm supposed to have the highest BT compatibility among current IS pilots! So how come she can…"
The Silent Zephyrus pilot then gives out her commands to the other five IS behind her, transformed into their robot mode.
"Deal with these wretches," The Silent Zephyrus pilot ordered. "And crush them!"
The drones comply with their orders as they transform into their jet modes and take off towards Cecilia and Rin.
"Cecilia, watch out!" Rin cried. "Get out of there!"
The girls take off and were already being tailed and fired upon by the IS drones, who were using their blasters to fire at their targets. With those IS pilots distracted, the Silent Zephyrus pilot takes off and heads towards the Academy.
Back at the locker room, a horrified captive Ichika and a wounded and shocked Raiden look to see Tatenashi stabbed by Autumn.
"Tatenashi-san/dono!" Both boys called out.
"How dare you do that to Tatenashi-san?" Ichika angrily cried.
But despite what appeared to be a fatal wound though, Tatenashi was not bleeding. Even Autumn realized this.
"You…" She was stunned to realize. "That didn't feel right!"
Tatenashi giggles but one minute she was there the next her form disintegrates and turns into water in a might splash. Everyone in the room was stunned to witness that Tatenashi just turned into water.
"Is this…" Autumn gasps. "Water?"
"That's correct," Tatenashi said as the water turns into mist. "It's a decoy made out of water."
Autumn turns around to see Tatenashi right behind her, deployed in her IS.
*SLING*
And with one swipe of her spear, she leaves a rather nasty mark on Autumn's abdomen. But in actuality, what looked like a wound was just the tip of it as Autumn jumped back far.
"Oh, you dodged it," Tatenashi saw. "That IS has pretty nice mobility."
"What's your deal?!" asked an irritated Autumn.
"I'm Sarashiki Tatenashi with my IS, Mysterious Lady. Remember that."
Water soon forms around Tatenashi but Autumn was losing patience of the show.
"I'll kill you where you stand!" Autumn declared as she fires her blasters. But Tatenashi, using the water, forms a shield around her spear and easily blocks all the shots to protect the boys.
"You're all bark and no bite," A smiling Tatenashi giggles.
Autumn stops firing, getting more and more annoyed. "Damn it, you stupid brat!" Autumn soon brings out her two katars in hand. "Don't get so cocky!"
*CLING*
*BANG*
*DING*
Both pilots engage in combat, but Autumn was easily pushed back. She fires her blasters at point blank range, but Tatenashi conjures up her water shield with her spear easily. One of the shots was deflected and hits the webbing on Ichika's right hand, freeing his arm.
"You'll never break through this water with that kind of attack," Tatenashi said.
Autumn realized she was right. "It's not just regular water! What the hell is this?"
"Oh, sharp observation. This water is bring controlled by nanomachines that transmit IS energy. Isn't it something?"
Autumn jumps back, fearing the worst of this water.
"By the way, did you know this?" Tatenashi asked. "At this school, only the most powerful are given the title of student council president!"
"Who cares?!" Autumn shouted. She then tosses her left katar at Tatenashi before jumping in the same direction.
*DING*
Tatenashi deflects it easily but in the process leaves herself exposed to Autumn as she uses her legs to rasp her and push her to the wall.
"The most powerful, huh?" Autumn mockingly laughs as she brings out her right railgun. "That's a load of shit!"
Soon Autumn starts firing point blank range at Tatenashi.
"Tatenashi-san!" cried Ichika.
*BOOM*
One explosion later and Autumn was currently the only one left standing, triumphant in her victory.
Tatenashi however stands up, still bearing a smile even though her IS was now gone.
"Tatenashi-dono!" Raiden calls as he stands up despite his wound. "Hang on. I'll back you up." Raiden however stumbles and falls to the ground.
"No," She denied. "Dear Raiden, let me handle this."
Autumn scoffs, "Don't be so full of yourself!"
She then charges at Tatenashi, grabs her by the throat, and throws her away before deploying her webbing, wrapping her up.
*BAM*
And slamming her to the ground.
"I can't move!" She said before she is grabbed again.
"I've got you this time!" Autumn said as she prepares a railgun blast at point blank range again just to kill her.
But Tatenashi, smiling as if she was two steps ahead, asks, "Hey, don't you think it's hot in here?"
"What?"
"I'm not referring to the temperature but the heat index."
"What are you trying to say?"
"Humidity factors into the discomfort index. Don't you think it's awfully humid? Mist can penetrate armor through its cracks."
Both Raiden and Autumn soon realized that it was a bit hot in the room, as evidenced by the mist around the area.
"Yes, that's the face I was waiting for!" Tatenashi said. "The face of realization that you just made a big mistake."
*SNAP*
With one snap of her fingers….
*BANG BANG BANG BANG*
Autumn is soon barraged by mini explosions on her IS, forcing her to let go of Tatenashi and back away. With such a cleverly sneak attack, she was now defenseless.
"Mysterious Lady…" Tatenashi revealed as she deploys her IS. "This IS, whose name also means 'mist-bearing lady,' can control water freely using nanomachines that transmit energy."
Autumn was defiant and stubborn though. "I'm not done yet!"
"Wrong. It's over now," Tatenashi turns to her left. "Right, Ichika-kun? Dear Raiden?"
Ichika was then freed from the restraints and Raiden was fully healed of his wound thanks to Tatenashi's water nanomachines. Both deploy the Yukihira Niigata and the Sakabatō at the ready.
"Yukihira Niigata, maximum output!" Ichika commands as his blade extends.
Raiden charges in first with the Sakabatō.
"Hiten Mitsurugi-Ryū –Ryū So Sen!"
With a barrage of fast attacks on Autumn, she was hit everywhere by the Sakabatō. Raiden then moves out of the way for Ichika's turn.
"Take this!" Ichika comes in next.
*CLING*
With his attack bearing down on her, Ichika pushes her straight to the wall.
*BAM*
He backs away to rejoin with Tatenashi and Raiden just as Auutmn makes a break for a retreat outside to the castle set.
"Ichika-kun! Dear Raiden! Go after her!" Tatenashi ordered.
"Right!" They acknowledged, chasing after Autumn.
Outside, the spider IS pilot, tries to recover but her IS has sustained heavy damage from both assaults. Against such odds, she stood no match for them. She needed to retreat despite her refusal to surrender.
"Damn it!" Autumn curses, unaware the boys were right behind her and closing in fast.
*BOOM*
A purple beam shoots down between Autumn and the boys, making the latter stop as they look above to see who it was.
"I came to get you, Autumn," The Silent Zephyrus pilot called out with a smirk, seeing Autumn's humiliation and the boys together in one room.
Autumn however, frustrated as she is, retorts, "I demand you to treat me with respect!"
Raiden however, when sensing the Silent Zephyrus and who its pilot was, briefly became paled. He knew the voice of that pilot and who it was.
"It can't be…" He whispered to himself.
Ichika, seeing that there was a second attacker exclaims, "Another one?"
He attempts to fly upwards to meet this pilot but is halted by Raiden who goes up front while keeping his sights and sensors onto Silent Zephyrus.
"Raiden?" asked Ichika who stopped in front of the blind boy. "What are you doing?"
"Stay back, Ichika," Raiden held back while keeping an eye on Silent Zephyrus. "I'll deal with this one."
"What?" He asked. "But, Raiden—"
"Autumn cannot get away, that she can't. Get back down there and assist Tatenashi-dono."
Tatenashi, hearing this over the comm, concurs with Raiden. "Ichika, he's right. That pilot is a hitokiri and only Raiden can deal with it."
Ichika didn't like it one bit, but he was not one to disobey orders. "Understood."
As Ichika flies back down to Tatenashi, Raiden sheathes his Sakabatō and flies up to meet the Silent Zephyrus pilot on top of the dome. Houki, from above, sees Raiden and the other pilot together, facing each other.
"Raiden!" Houki cried. "Hang on, we'll come help you!"
But Raiden denied that command. "No. Focus on the Seekers. I'll deal with the Silent Zephyrus pilot, that I will."
"B-But Raiden…"
"She's a hitokiri, that she is," Raiden revealed. "And only a hitokiri can best another hitokiri. Go, Houki-dono. Take your positions and follow Orimura-sensei's lead, while I make my stand."
Laura also concurred as she rallies to Houki's position. "He's right, Houki. If what the Kingslayer said is true, then we're not dealing with a normal IS pilot."
Houki was not so sure. But as she looks at Raiden, she notices that her lover was staring right at the Silent Zephyrus pilot. If it is true that the current pilot wielding the stolen successor to Blue Tears was a hitokiri, then no one save for Raiden stood a chance. And from prior experience, she knows how dangerous those individuals can be.
And rather reluctantly, she must let her lover do the work. Alone.
"Come back to me alive, Raiden," Houki said before she takes off. She just prays she won't revert back to his hitokiri form and activate his One-Off Ability.
At the command center, Yamada-sensei looks at the footage and is stunned. "Orimura-sensei, that IS is…"
"They're already using it, huh?" Chifuyu asked.
The camera then views the Silent Zephyrus IS meeting Raiden on top of the dome, face to face. Chifuyu narrows her eyes, seeing that Raiden was about to engage with this pilot.
'Be careful, Raiden.'
With Houki returning with Laura to join Charlotte to fend the remaining drones, both Lion Heart and Silent Zephyrus stand right in front of one another, almost as if the two pilots within were reunited. Or as if they knew who each of the other one was. The IS pilot in Silent Zephyrus had noticed Houki and Laura fleeing away, but that makes her smirk a bit as she comes face to face with her opponent.
"Raiden!" The pilot called out. "Been well? I see you are now a student of the IS Academy. I was certain though that it would be a pile of scrap by now."
Raiden however was no mood for jokes. "I know why you're here, Madoka."
"Hardly a surprise, Raiden. After all, you and I have been at this a long time. And your time has come to an end."
To make her point clear, Madoka sends in more of the Seekers from behind her, not only keeping the other IS pilots occupied but also beginning to target and bombard the IS Academy. Thankfully the students were led safely inside the bunkers underground but the Academy was already suffering some heavy damage from the bombardment.
"Bombers!" Laura cried on the comm. "Take them out before they destroy the school!"
"Cecilia, send your BITS!" Charlotte suggested.
"Got it!" Cecilia cried as she sends out her BITS and fires her rockets at a couple of Seekers.
Back below, both Raiden and Madoka still face each other, getting a size of one another. But that's when Madoka sees that despite the presence of another IS pilot, nobody else came to challenge her. All except Raiden.
"Your fellow IS pilots are wise, Raiden," Madoka said, taking note of how busy his friends were with the Seekers. "They know when to retreat when facing a hitokiri."
"I hold no illusion about engaging you or your army, Madoka, that I do not," Raiden said. "But I might derail whatever objective you're here for… by removing your head."
Raiden then takes out the Sakabatō from its sheathe but Madoka could only laugh in response. "Highly unlikely, Raiden, for I know of your vow to never end another life again!"
"Then let us end this rivalry for good… partner."
As the battle rages around them, with explosions going off here and there, the two hitokiri face off against one another. The atmosphere changes to one of mystery and foreboding to one of intense rage that finally floods in, like an old rivalry ignited after so long of being apart.
Like a proper samurai, Madoka soon pulls out her sword, a katana. The Mugenjin, translated as the Infinite Blade.
Made for the goal of creating a new kind of blade that staves off the inevitable coming of wear and tear, the Mugenjin has several unique properties to allow it to kill without losing its edge or otherwise stagnating. Its self-sharpening razor-like edge is berthed to it by having a sizable portion of the blade chipped away in a regular, serrated pattern, like the edges of a shark's teeth, which allows it to lose none of its feel regardless of the number of men it slays. In addition, while most swords would rust and dull from continued exposure to human blood and oils, the Mugenjin appears to suffer none of these consequences, and instead the fat it has absorbed during the many years it was used allowed it to ignite itself and catch fire when friction was applied. Like the Sakabatō, it is extremely durable despite its thinness, being able to withstand direct hits from powerful melee attacks.
*FWOOSH*
The sword soon ignites into flames, but the metal does not reach its melting point. If there was ever an opposite blade of the Sakabatō where it represented the light to protect, then the Mugenjin represented the darkness to kill.
Roaring as she charges in, Madoka clash her sword with a charging Raiden's, their blades colliding against one another.
Raiden goes for a horizontal slash, but Madoka backs away from it easily. He goes for vertical but she too dodges and counters with a punch to the face.
*BAM*
Raiden dodges two of Madoka's incoming strikes from her Mugenjin before he blocks her third incoming vertical strike.
Backing away, Madoka blocks two of Raiden's strikes with the Mugenjin and attempts to counter but fails to notice an incoming left hook from her opponent.
*POW*
With one punch from his left hand, Madoka is sent skidding back before she stops herself with her Mugenjin.
Raiden jumps upwards into the air to execute his infamous attack.
"Hiten Mitsurugi-Ryū – Ryū Tsui Sen!"
*CLANG*
But even with a Ryū Tsui Sen, Madoka blocks the strike and holds her ground against the blade. It did not come without effort though as noticed by the grit of her teeth.
The two break off and continue their fierce duel; IS against IS, pilot against pilot, hitokiri against hitokiri. It was still unclear as to who had the edge in the fight, even as Cecilia and Rin continue fighting the Seekers above them.
MEANWHILE…
Autumn, seeing Ichika distracted and Tatenashi nowhere to be found, scurries like an insect to make her escape. But then an AIC field is deployed around her, courtesy of Laura.
"I won't let you get away!" Laura said.
Houki too rallies down to Laura, pointing her sword at her from the right. Charlotte too joins in with her assault rifle at Autumn on her left.
"You don't know when to quit, do you?" asked Charlotte.
"This is it," Houki concurred.
Ichika too had his sword pointed at Autumn from behind. "It's over."
Autumn was now surrounded by four IS pilots, one of them trapping her in the AIC field. If only Madoka were to finish up and get to her assistance, not that she would ask for it. And not that Madoka had other fights to contend with.
BACK WITH RAIDEN AND MADOKA…
*BAM*
Raiden gets hooked by Madoka's left fist on the right side of his face, stunning him briefly and making him step back a bit as a nosebleed occurs.
*SCHDING*
But while trying to recover from the punch, Madoka slices his armor with the flaming Mugenjin, leaving a rather nasty burning mark on his IS. He holds himself with his left hand, feeling the impact of the Mugenjin's serrated edge and flame go across his body.
*DING*
And then, with one upper strike, Madoka knocks the Sakabatō out of Raiden's hands, depriving him of his weapon as it lands behind him and sticks into the ground. With Raiden injured and defenseless, Madoka only needed one more strike.
*SCHBAAM*
And with one more uppercut of her Mugenjin, Madoka sends Raiden up into the air, concluding their fight in her victory. But she was not done yet. In an effort to inflict more pain on the one she called her former partner, she grabs the ankle on the left leg of his IS.
*BAM*
And slams him behind her before throwing him aside like a ragdoll, making him bounce a couple times before skidding on his front side across the floor. Despite his wounds, Raiden did not make any noise of pain, except with the occasional small grunts. His IS was critical, in need of emergency repairs as evidenced by the sparks from its broken systems and parts. Luckily the Absolute Defense System installed prevented him from having any serious injuries like broken bones or cracked ribs.
Broken, battered, defeated, bloodied, and wounded, Raiden thrives in pain just as Madoka approaches him with the Mugenjin ignited, raising it above her head as she prepares to cut down her former partner.
*PIING*
Before Madoka could make her strike on him though, a small green hologram with the words "Sound Only" appeared on the left side of her face.
"Squall?" She asked herself. After a moment of silence, she clicks her tongue. "Understood."
When the call ends, Madoka looks down to Raiden, who struggles to stand after taking a massive beating, his IS still sparking from the damage Silent Zephyrus inflicted. Loosening her grip and perhaps retaining a sense of pride and victory over the blind male IS pilot, perhaps this mission was not a total loss.
"Pity that I must leave you now, Raiden," Madoka sighs to her fallen opponent. "You would've made a fine hitokiri had you stayed with us."
Madoka then raises Mugenjin over Raiden and swings down to finish him off for good.
*CLANG*
But to Madoka's surprise, Raiden blocks her blade with his right hand, deploying one of his arm blades at the last moment and stopping her strike effortlessly.
"I chose my side, that I did," Raiden reminded his former friend and fellow hitokiri, neither angry nor proud.
Breaking away from Madoka's katana, Raiden's sword hand soon switched into his ion blaster, charged up and pointed at Madoka.
*PEW*
With one shot into her torso, Madoka is sent flying back into the air, giving away a huge distance between her and her former partner. Raiden continues firing before Madoka decides that enough was enough and she had to follow Squall's orders to pick up Autumn and retreat. Leaving her former partner, she heads down into the hole of the dome to the castle set.
Ichika however sees her coming in from above.
"Raiden!" He cries as he takes off, fearing the worst for his friend.
Tatenashi could not stop him. "Ichika-kun, don't go!"
Madoka sees Ichika come towards him, but she deploys her BITS after him. Ichika maneuvers and dodges as best he can, but is soon ambushed from behind by Madoka.
*BAM*
He is kicked roughly by Madoka and sent flying but not before he adjusts himself and takes flight again to dodge al six BITS bearing down on him.
'She's unbelievably strong! So this is why Raiden didn't want me to fight her!'
As Ichika continues to dodge, he was already starting to wear out and his shield energy was rapidly decreasing. Soon he was getting hit after hit from the BITS.
"Oh no, I'm running out of energy!" He saw his stats.
Unfortunately, as he is distracted, Madoka soon comes in with the Mugenjin ignited and executes a vicious move.
"Ichi no Hiken: Homura Dama!"
By creating sparks from the frictions between the blade and sheath, to ignite the human fats; this serves to distract the opponent from his swings. The result is being simultaneously burned and slashed; even if the opponent dodges the actual blade, the flame extends the range and effect of the swing.
*SHDING*
Ichika takes a direct cut from the Mugenjin, his IS also receiving a burning scar from the flames.
"Gaah!"
He is then sent flying back into the arena.
*BAM*
Crashing through the roof.
*BOOM*
And hitting one of the towers of the castle. Air leaves his lungs upon impact.
"Ichika!" Houki and Charlotte saw.
Madoka soon sweeps down to Autumn's position and rains fire with her six BIT units, making Charlotte and Houki back away from their prisoner but Laura is left defenseless, maintaining her AIC field.
Madoka soon lands, facing Laura. Laura grits her teeth, preparing for Madoka as she draws out and ignites the Mugenjin.
*SHIING*
And cuts down the AIC field holding Autumn in place, freeing her. Laura was shocked to see that her AIC field was canceled out by sheer force.
"Is this all you've got, Germany's Advanced?" asked a mocking Madoka as she turns her head.
Laura was stunned even further. "How do you know about that?!"
"I don't have to tell you," Madoka responded coldly before she speaks to her fellow comrade behind her. "We're too outnumbered now. Let's fall back, Autumn. And detonate the Seekers."
Madoka takes off and unleashes her drones onto the girls, distracting them just as Autumn leaves her IS Arachne. But not before taking its IS core with her and letting the Arachne converge onto the girls along with the remaining Seekers from above.
Both of which were starting to beep on a timer.
To Raiden and Ichika's horror, both of them were bombs. Heading towards the other three. And they realized it too.
"Get out of there, you guys!" Ichika cried as he races to them.
"Houki-dono!" Raiden also converges onto his lover's position, wounded as he was.
With what he could use of his IS, Raiden zooms down onto Houki, making it to her just in time before the Seekers and the Arachne IS reached her and the others' position.
*BOOM*
And then both the Arachne and Seekers detonated in a fiery explosion like an unmanned Predator drone had fired and reached its target.
As Ichika opens his eyes, he thought at first his eyes were watery. But that is when he saw what appeared to be a dome made of water, surrounding him and the area he laid upon. And he only knew one other person who could manipulate water.
"Are you okay, Ichika-kun?" asked the voice of Tatenashi.
"Yeah," Ichika answered. "I think so. Where'd our enemy go? And Raiden?"
"She got away," Tatenashi said. "It looks like she made only her equipment and armor explode." Tatenashi then spots Raiden on top of a unconscious Houki. "And Raiden is okay. He protected Houki from the Seekers that detonated."
"I-I see," A relieved Ichika said. "Uh… So anyway…"
Tatenashi cutely look over, wondering what Ichika is about to say.
"I-I think it's about time for you to… get off me."
Ichika was not wrong. Indeed, Tatenashi did lay on top of him, her breasts pressed up against his face. Any other girl would've freaked out and partially deploy their IS and knock him out. But not for the blue haired cat.
Tatenashi smirks. "My, you're such a pervert, Ichika-kun."
"I-It's not what you think it is!" Ichika panicked. "It was just an emergency situation!"
"Aww! Be a man and don't make excuses! Like what Dear Raiden does! So what do you think of my boobs?"
Ichika looks away bashfully. "What? Well, uh… Th-They're really soft."
Tatenashi stands herself up a little. "Ichika-kun."
"Y-Yes?"
She teases, "You pervert!"
HOURS LATER…
Down at the underground bunker, Chifuyu and Yamada-sensei were analyzing Arachne and Silent Zephyrus on screen. They also captured and analyzed whatever remains of the IS drones, destroyed as they are.
On the table before them were the remains of a few drones, being dissected and analyzed by robotic arms. Clearly, these were indeed IS, but unmanned like the Golem attack during last semester. And there were multiple ones. They seemed to be a mass-produced type of unknown design. They were however given a name: Seeker drones, or simply Seekers. A fitting name for the notorious group like Phantom Task's unmanned drones.
"They extracted the core from IS Arachne and then detonated it," Yamada-sensei revealed. "The other one was Blue Tears II, Silent Zephyrus, that was stolen in England."
"It was that group called Phantom Task, huh?" Chifuyu asked. "According to Raiden, that was who Udō Hina worked for. And with an army size of these Seeker drones, they seemed desperate to complete their mission."
"Yes. Their next target must've been Byakushiki," Yamada-sensei said as she looks at the security footage from the locker room. "Byakushiki still holds many mysteries, after all."
Chifuyu nods. "Yeah. That's why I had Sarashiki train and keep a watch over Orimura."
"Wouldn't Hataru-kun be a better fit? I mean, they're both guys and they seem on friendly terms."
"Raiden has his own problems to contend with, considering how he and the Silent Zephyrus pilot both fought ferociously. Like they knew one another and have fought before. And I don't want Orimura to be caught up between them. But it seems that problem is going to be likely from now on."
"I bet you were worried the whole time. Maybe you wished you could take Sarashiki-san's place."
"Don't be ridiculous," An annoyed Chifuyu said. "That's Sarashiki's job, not mine."
A console beeps as Yamada-sensei checks out what the anomaly was. "Orimura-sensei, we have an incoming call from… Yamagata Haruto?"
Chifuyu grumbles. "Great. Put him through."
Accepting the call, Yamada-sensei brings up Yamagata Haruto's on screen video call. And his expression looked very serious, if not annoyed and concerned.
"Brunhilde," Yamagata greeted.
"General," Chifuyu greeted back.
"I had received reports of a terrorist attack on the IS Academy, happening during a school festival. And on top of that, the Representative Candidates of China, England, Germany, and France got involved and their home countries want to know their status. Every single politician at the Diet is already hounding at me for answers and solutions, not theories."
Clearly, Yamagata was either angry that an attack had occurred on the Academy, or he needed someone to vent out on due to his superiors bearing down on him. As a lieutenant-general of the JSDF, his job sure is an awful one.
"So, care to get anything off of your chest, Brunhilde?" Yamagata asked.
"We have the situation under control, general," Chifuyu addressed professionally.
But Yamagata knew what Chifuyu was referring to. "They're back, aren't they?"
"If you are referring to Phantom Task, then yes. And they seem to have an army behind their backs. The remains of those Seekers should arrive at the JSDF for study."
"The Diet is already hot on my heels regarding this, Brunhilde. They want the JSDF to go on the offensive and eliminate what they deem to be a terrorist group."
"General, you know as well as I that the Alaska Treaty forbids the use of IS and their pilots for warfare purposes."
"Officially, yes. But the politicians are already considering the treaty to be obsolete. They're divided on a polarized scale that has pretty much split the world politically; between those who want to go on the offensive and the conservatives who are trying to keep the treaty intact. Don't tell me you are siding with the latter?"
"I'm not," Chifuyu shook her head. "But any military involvement by the JSDF or the Americans with the Academy will only result in catastrophe. Perhaps you and the politicians can condone widespread casualties, General, pilot and IS. I, however, cannot, and neither can the others."
"Then do us both a favor and handle this, Brunhilde… under the radar. I can only hold you back for so long because of our mutual acquaintance."
Yamagata cuts the call but Chifuyu sighs. Today was a long and stressful day. A school festival suddenly canceled due to a terrorist attack, and she has to get the short end of the stick from everyone who knew her as the first woman to pilot an IS.
"So that's the lieutenant-general who visited the Academy…" Yamada-sensei noted. "He seems uptight."
"Lieutenant-General Yamagata is concerned for his nation, Maya," Chifuyu said as she gets herself some coffee. "As he should be."
Yamada-sensei then asked in concern, "And… what of Hataru-kun?"
"What about him?"
"He explained that one of the pilots was a hitokiri. That's the second one we've encountered. And… he was nearly killed this time."
"Raiden knows how to deal with hitokiri," Chifuyu seemed unconcerned as she grabs and pours the sugar. "Though I worry for his mental state, I can at least be reassured that he can face one head on. Only a hitokiri can defeat another hitokiri. Anyone else is just a target in their way."
But that is when Yamada-sensei spotted the salt being poured into the coffee cup. "Umm, Orimura-sensei? That's the salt again."
A cross-pop vein appears on Chifuyu's head, seeing as how she made a simple mistake. Annoyed of such a thing, she then comically chokes Yamada-sensei from behind.
"Kyaah!?"
"Don't misinterpret what I'm doing," Chifuyu said. "I'm telling you I'm not distraught. Got it?"
"Wu-Wukay…" Yamada-sensei could barely speak. Chifuyu's grip was pretty damn strong, retired as she is.
Meanwhile, in a room of a high-rise condominium filled with luxurious furniture, Autumn closes in on Madoka as she grabs her by the collar. Despite the defeat and humiliation, Autumn still had enough strength to even stand on her own two feet.
But Madoka merely said nothing and stayed silent, keeping that prideful smirk of hers, indicating that she is enjoying Autumn's disgrace.
"I didn't need your help! Stay out of my way!" Autumn shouted.
Autumn pushes Madoka into the wall. But even after that, Madoka was unfazed and simply smirked back at Autumn's humiliation and anger.
Autumn however was impatient as they come. "Say something, you brat!"
But Madoka was still silent, merely smirking back at how pitiful Autumn was.
"Damn you!" Autumn then pulled out a knife from behind.
"Stop it, Autumn," A voice halted Autumn from behind, one that made her turn around. "You're too loud."
A woman with a beautiful face walked out from the bathroom with a robe, and the light blond hair radiated under the light.
"Squall!" Autumn's expression changed to one of delight.
"You need to calm yourself," Squall reassured. "It ruins your beautiful face."
The woman called Squall was dressed in a bathrobe as she sat down on the sofa, crossing her legs in the process and relaxing back.
"I take it you found him?" asked Squall.
Autumn glared at Squall with regret. "You… knew that this would happen?"
"Of course. This is my pet that we are dealing with here. I needed to know if Hitokiri Kingslayer really was there. Stealing Byakushiki's core was just orders from the Archon. Officially anyway."
Autumn's anger up until now got wiped off by the smile on Squall's face, and she blushed as she looked down. She looked like a girl who just met her first love. Seeing her cute look, Squall again smiled happily.
Madoka looked uninterested as she walks away, viewing this all as ridiculous. As someone who refused to work with others or interact emotionally with them, she left the room with an icy cold gaze.
"M, please send Silent Zephyrus to the maintenance bay," Squall ordered. "It still needs some tweaking. Also, the Archon wants to speak to you."
"I got it."
After Madoka, who conveniently went by the name M as Squall called her, answered, she closes the door.
*Beep, Beep, Beep, Beep*
A console nearby soon beeps red, indicating an incoming call. As Madoka activates the QEC and receives the call, she kneels down in front of the hologram before her, with her back turned to her.
The Archon. The singular leader of Phantom Task. While the organization did indeed have a board of directors, it was wiped out when it was decided that the group should be led by one leader to avoid conflicting agendas and wipe away any notion of rebellion and treachery.
The Archon wore a purple skin-tight dress with a plunging neckline and feathers around the collar and a headpiece adorned with jewels. Her hands are claw-like, bearing sharp nails that could cut even metal itself. To top it all, she was wearing a red beak-like mask to conceal her identity.
"Orimura Chifuyu still lives," The Archon said before her hologram turns around to face her kneeling protégé. "As do you, Madoka. And that is a victory however small, as the Kingslayer so tragically discovered the day he left."
Madoka however retains her icy cold gaze as she rises. "Speak to me not of my former partner, Master, for I am here on Earth to obey your will and yours alone."
But the Archon felt there was more to it. "But?"
"But I could've taken him," Madoka said, her anger and frustration rising. "I could have ended him! I had him defeated, at the tip of my blade!"
"Absolutely," The Archon calmly agrees. "But capturing the Byakushiki was your priority, not settling old scores with the Kingslayer."
"Because of the Kingslayer, we failed to acquire the Byakushiki!" Madoka replied frustratingly.
"And as I have said, today's skirmish is a victory however small. You did triumph over the Kingslayer, showing how much he has rusted under Chifuyu's teachings while you have grown strong under my tutelage. And I always tell you this: if you fail at something, then start all over again instead of agonizing it. I will always provide you the help you need."
"And yet here I am in this apartment instead of with you on your warship!" Madoka growled lowly. "Why would you send your second in command and her pet spider to supervise me whilst having to deal with them daily?"
"Whether they get on your nerves or not is irrelevant. But use that hatred to fuel you, and you will succeed in tasks given to you. Everything… is for your sake, Madoka."
Madoka takes heed of her master's words. The Archon was not wrong, but Madoka did not wish to be reminded of how valuable she is to Phantom Task. For she was all too eager to prove herself and earn her master's respect and approval. Not that she did not need it for she already had it in the Archon's eyes. Or so some would say.
"I will pursue and fulfill my destiny, Master," Madoka said. "And I assure you, the Kingslayer and Nee-san will die by my hand."
"Very well, Madoka," The Archon encouraged, likely knowing what Madoka plans to do. "See to it that it is done."
The Archon's hologram dissipates, leaving Madoka alone in her room as she contemplates for the future. The future she wants to create.
Alone in her room, she pulls out what seems to be a golden pendant necklace holding a portrait within.
"Very soon... very soon…" She muttered.
She had been waiting for this, waiting for this moment to arrive.
"I will have my revenge...Yes… I will finally reunite with her…"
As she opens the portrait of her necklace to reveal the smiling image of Chifuyu Orimura, the girl's lips curled evilly.
