Chapter Eight: A Heartbreaking Goodbye
Even though Kion had used the Roar to drive Makuu and the crocodiles away, the force of the Roar accidentally blew Bongo and Bobo onto a nearby cliff.
Bakari: "Bongo!" He shouted in panic.
Amara: "Bobo!" Amara cried out.
Fuli saw that her best friend and his brother were in danger and knew she had to act fast. She sprinted towards the cliff.
Fuli: "Huwezi!" She yelled as she raced to save them.
Bobo: "Fuli, hurry, we can't hold on any longer!" He called out desperately.
Bongo started to lose his grip just as Fuli reached them.
Fuli: *muffled* "I've got you guys." She assured them as she gently picked them up by their scruffs to safety.
Fuli: "Are you both okay?" She asked, setting them down gently.
Bobo: "Yeah, we're okay." He replied, still shaken.
Bongo: *stutters* "T-T-Thank you, Fu-Fu-Fuli." He stammered, hugging her tightly.
Amara: "Bongo, Bobo, are you two okay?" She rushed over to her sons.
Bobo: "We're okay, Mom." He reassured her.
Bongo: *stutters* "Fu-Fu-Fuli saved u-u-us." He added, looking up at her gratefully.
Fuli gave both of them comforting licks and nuzzles, relieved that they were unharmed. But Bakari had reached his breaking point.
Bakari: "Bongo, Bobo, get away from that cheetah! Right this instant!" He ordered.
The two baboons, obeying their father, reluctantly moved away from Fuli.
Bakari: "That's it! I've had it with you, Lion Guard! Because of you, I've almost lost both my sons!" He snapped.
Kion: "Bakari, I'm really sorry, but I had to use 'The Roar' to keep the crocodiles from doing any more harm." He explained.
Bunga: "But we saved Bongo and Bobo." He added.
Ono: "In fact, Fuli saved them." He pointed out.
Beshte: "Isn't that what matters?" He asked hopefully.
Bakari: "No! And because of that, you are all banned from seeing Bongo and Bobo forever!" He declared.
Kion, Bunga, Fuli, Ono, Beshte, Bongo, and Bobo: *gasps* They gasped in shock.
Bobo: "No, please, Dad. I don't want to stop seeing the Lion Guard." He pleaded.
Bongo: *stutters* "M-M-Me too." He added, tears welling up in his eyes.
Amara: "Bakari, aren't you taking this a little too far?" She asked, trying to reason with him.
Bakari: "No, because I was right. The Lion Guard aren't the Pride Lands' protectors! They're just a bunch of troublemakers!" He retorted.
Fuli: "Alright, Bakari, I don't know what your problem is, but…" She spoke up, finally fed up.
Bakari: "Are you talking back to me, cheetah?! Who do you think you are?!" He interrupted angrily.
Fuli: *snarls angrily* She snarled, her patience wearing thin.
Bakari: *hoot hoot* "How dare you growl at me?!" He screeched, hooting angrily as he squared up to Fuli.
Amara: "Bakari, let's all calm down, please." She urged, trying to de-escalate the situation.
Bunga: "Ooh, I think there's going to be a fight." He whispered, eyes wide.
Ono: "A cheetah and a baboon fighting… this can't go well." He said, concerned.
Beshte: "Oh, I can't look." He murmured, turning away.
Fuli's growling intensified, while Bakari continued to screech and hoot angrily.
Kion: "Alright, everyone, just calm down!" He commanded, stepping between them.
Amara: "Yes, please, no fighting," Amara added, her voice filled with worry.
Kion: *sighs* "Fuli, I think we should listen to Bakari. It was my fault for using 'The Roar'." He turned to Fuli, his voice gentle but firm.
Fuli: "But Kion…" She began, still upset.
Kion: "We don't want to cause any more trouble, Fuli." He shook his head, understanding her frustration..
Bakari: "If you don't want to cause any more trouble, I suggest you leave my family alone!" He pointed sharply at the Lion Guard, seeing his demands being met.. "And you, I don't ever want to see you anywhere near Bongo ever again." He added, pointing at Fuli.
Fuli: "I understand," She whispered, her ears dropped in sadness.
Bongo, with tears streaming down his face, clung to Fuli's tail, devastated at the thought of saying goodbye to his best friend forever. Fuli gently shook him off, her heart breaking.
Fuli: "I'm sorry, Bongo. I guess we won't be seeing each other for a while." She said, her voice trembling.
Bongo gave Fuli one last hug, and she responded with a final nuzzle and lick.
Bakari: "Okay, Bongo, it's time to say bye to the cheetah." He ordered.
Bobo, seeing his brother's distress, took his hand and gently pulled him away from Fuli. The twins looked back with sorrowful eyes, before they followed their parents back home, leaving Fuli standing alone, filled with sadness as she watched them disappear into the distance.
Fuli knew she might never see her best friend again, and the thought weighed heavily on her heart.
