A couple of hours later, the bell rang signaling for some outdoor time. Picking up their drawings, Leah and her friends headed outside. As they entered the courtyard, they saw Jane, Alice, Luise, and Miguel already outside. They were gathered around on some of the benches, chatting with each other.

Leah and her friends walked over. They overheard Alice excitedly talking about the nature exhibit at the museum, while they guys talked about a space exhibit.

"Hey guys!" Ariel greeted them with a smile as they approached. Everyone looked up from their conversation, waving a friendly hello. "How was your day?"

"Great, we're just talking about the trip to the museum," Megile said with a grin.

"We can't wait to see the space exhibit," Lewis responded.

"Well, I for one am looking forward to seeing the nature exhibit," Alice said, swinging her legs.

"How about you Jane, you're being offly quiet," Wendy questioned her little sister. "Would a picture of our home cheer you up?" She held up the detailed drawing of Neverland.

Jane sighed as she looked down at her lap. She had received some news earlier that day. Guess now was as good a time as any to announce it. "Actually, I have some news." She then went quiet.

"Well don't keep us in suspense. What is it, Jane?" Jim questioned with anticipation.

Jane let out another sigh as she looked around at her world believer friend group. "I'm being discharged."

"You're what?!" the whole group questioned in shock.

"Is that why you were pulled from class?" Alice questioned with shock.

Jane slowly nodded. "Mistress Mal said I'll be going on Wednesday. Saying that Dr. Gothel said, "I've made enough progress and I can be integrated back into society."

"But- you can't leave!" Wendy shouted, a bit heartbroken. "What about Neverland? Peter?Me?"

Jane looked at her sister, a bit hurt by her words. "Wendy, I'm not giving up on anything," she said, standing from the bench. "This is about me getting free of this place." she then looked around giving the no-offense look. "I had a great time with you all and wish it could last, but-"

"Then tell them you still believe. Stay here with us, will find some other way out." Wendy interrupted, stepping forward, and reached for her sister's hand.

Jane pulled it away, however. She looked into her sister's eyes. "I can't keep playing along Wendy. I can't keep saying that Neverland is real" she gulped before finishing the sentence "when it never was."

Wendy felt something inside her snap. Her face turned a shade of red as she lashed out at her sister. "Never real?! What about when Peter first took us there? The natives? the mermaids? even the pirates? How do you explain all that?!"

"It was a dream, Wendy, just like they tell us." She placed a hand on her sister's shoulder. "I'm hoping that if I do this, you and Peter will learn to let go, and then you can come home with me. We can all be a family once more." Hope grew in her eyes.

But Wendy shrugged her off, letting out a sharp hmph. "If you want to give up that's fine. But I'm not abandoning my brother. As long as he believes, then I believe too!" she then angrily turned. "Enjoy reality, but don't come crying to me when we're able to fly back to Neverland." She then stormed off to the opposite side of the courtyard.

Jane watched with a frown as her sister stormed away. Sadness and anger built up inside of her, she didn't know how to feel. The rest of the group exchanged awkward, uncomfortable glances as two of their friends now seemed to resent each other.

"It will be alright Jane," Alice said, putting an arm around her. "I'm sure she'll calm down eventually."

"Did I do the right thing?" she asked, fiddling with her fingers.

"If you think that going home is best for you" Leah began to say with uncertainty "then yes."

"You're getting what most of us wish for, freedom," Jim added as he looked up at the blue sky above.

"We're all happy for you," Miguel said with a smile

"It was just- unexpected," Luise added.

"I sure wasn't expecting it," Jane said, pulling away from Alice and sitting back on the bench. "I knew it was bound to happen, but I didn't think Wendy would be so upset."

"She just needs some time to cool down," Ariel said, taking the seat next to her. "But I hope once you're out of here, you write to us every week."

Jane let out a smile as she looked around once again. "Trust me guys, if there's one thing I won't forget, other than the treatments, is make the best friends I could ever ask for."
