Chapter 2: The Offer
"What do you expect from me?"
"You'll learn as you go, but simply put," Charlie explained as they neared the tailor. "You'll protect me."
One Week Later…
"… have one year, and if there is no progress…" Lilith told the Head Butler of their family.
Said butler bowed.
"I understand Your Majesty." He replied professionally and respectfully. "I shall begin his training now."
Meanwhile…
"No, no, no, Naruto. For that, you use this fork." Charlie explained in a not so patient way.
The two of them were eating lunch in the dining room.
She had been trying to teach Naruto proper manners and etiquette… and it wasn't going as smoothly as she had anticipated.
Charlie grew up with this, so it came naturally to her.
Naruto did not.
"It's a fork… why does there have to be different forks for different things?" Naruto asked.
Over the week, Naruto's body had slowly gained a healthier appearance, but still lacked the muscle definition he should have.
He was wearing a dress shirt and nice pants.
'How do I explain this?' Charlie thought as she heard the dining room door open. 'Dad had a hands-off approach. Mom was hands on. And the only other person who helped raise me…'
Naruto went to grab the 'correct' fork, only for his arms to be fastened to his torso by very thin wires and then was pulled out of his chair and to the floor.
"Walter?" Charlie exclaimed, standing up from the sudden action as she turned to look at the Head Butler.
"Good afternoon, Princess." Walter greeted.
"HEY, ASSHOLE, LET ME GO!"
Walter's eyes slowly slanted downward to stare at the fox child, disgust in his eyes.
"My, my, I guess manners isn't the only thing I am going to teach him." Walter said as he moved his hands, his wires attached to his fingers. "This dog needs discipline."
The wires tightened, making Naruto yelp.
"Walter, stop…" Charlie was confused as Walter handed her a note.
"The King and Queen have given me one year to train this boy, due to your…" Walter halted his statement, trying to pick the correct words.
Charlie slightly deflated.
"I understand." She said, knowing why.
She wasn't showing any progress with Naruto in one week, so Walter was the better choice.
"Please, take care of him…" Charlie asked as Walter picked Naruto up under his arm.
Walter put a comforting hand on her head, a warm smile adorning his face.
"I will do what a butler does, Princess." He said comfortingly, putting any of Charlie's doubts at ease.
Walter then lowered his hand, walked four steps, and teleported away.
Charlie sat back down, and began to read the note Walter had given her.
"… THE FUCK!"
Edge of the Pride Ring, Walter's Vacation Home…
Naruto hit the ground, hard, as Walter dropped him.
"Bastard…" Naruto growled as he glared at his captor.
Walter was built thin and tall. he had a monocle before his left eye. His wolf cut hair is tied up with a gray band and slicked to the back, although little but many strands are left out and goes over his face. His outfit was a dark magenta shirt under a dark purple vest, black trousers, a pair of black shoes with purple highlights and a gray monocle. In his waist, he occasionally wore chains. His outfit is finished up with a black tie and a pair of black fingerless gloves.
His skin, however, was extremely pale. His had two fangs, which Naruto glimpsed, as he was talking earlier.
'Vampire…' Naruto thought, having heard stories about the bloodsuckers.
"It seems I have my work cut out for me…" Walter said as he released Naruto.
Naruto lunged from his spot, intending on hitting Walter… only for himself to be wrapped in wires, again, nearly strangled as he was spun around before being slammed into a tree.
"I am Walter C. Dornez, Head Butler to the House of Morningstar." Walter spoke as he slowly, maliciously walked toward the fox, releasing him. "I answer the door, I clean up the hotel, and I take out the trash. And I also enforce the rules of the house on snot nosed brats like yourself."
Naruto angrily glared at Walter, rubbing his neck from where some of the wires had nearly cut into it.
"I have been tasked by our King and Queen to turn you from this…" Walter gestured to Naruto as he is. "Into a butler worthy of standing by our Princess."
"I DON'T NEED YOUR HELP, CHARLIE WAS DOING…"
Naruto was silenced as his snout was forcibly closed by wires wrapping around it, tightly.
"You should be happy. Our King has allowed you to have this chance." Walter continued. "Our Queen, and myself, do not believe you have the right to be near Princess Charlie, let along her butler."
Walter dragged Naruto forward until the fox was on his hands and knees.
"If it was up to Lady Lilith, I'd have killed you. Lord Lucifer has extended this offer of a better life to a mongrel like you. You should appreciate that." Walter explained to Naruto.
Walter was a man of honor, virtue, and loyalty.
He had been with the Morningstar family LONG before Charlie had been born.
He helped raise Charlie.
So, the fact that his Princess had tossed away money for a demon who was a glorified gladiator, and begged her parents to keep him, didn't sit well with the Butler.
"I have one year, if you have not shown any signs of improvement, I am allowed to kill you, regardless of what Princess Charlie desires. Don't waste my time, her money, or the King's Mercy." Walter said as he once again, released Naruto.
Naruto felt humiliated.
"Follow me, Naruto." Walter said as he turned his back to the very irritated demon. "I shall show you where you shall be staying. I shall start your training tomorrow… actually…"
Walter entered the house, Naruto following begrudgingly behind him.
"How good is your magic capabilities?" Walter asked as he grabbed a small clear orb off of one of his shelves.
Naruto quirked an eyebrow.
"Magic…"
"Hm…" Walter hummed, handing Naruto the orb. "Hold that in your hand…" He smirked, chuckling at his little joke. "And it will take a sample of your magic."
Naruto took the orb.
Immediately, it was illuminated by a burnt orange color. So great was this light that it made the room brighter.
"What does this mean?" Naruto asked as Walter took it away, the light returning to normal.
"It means that you contain a tremendous amount of magic hidden within this scrawny body." He said, his finger jabbing Naruto's shoulder, arm, and then chest. "I shall bring it out. But first…"
Walter pulled out a large stack of papers.
"We shall go over what your training shall be."
Meanwhile…
"YOU'D WILLINGLY KILL A CHILD JUST BECAUSE HE COULDN'T LIVE UP TO YOUR STANDARDS!" Charlie yelled.
"Charlie…"
Charlie was fuming.
Her parents and herself were in the dining room, where they were eating.
"Young Lady," Lilith interrupted her daughter and her husband. "You will not yell at the table."
Charlie, somewhat deflated/embarrassed, sat down.
"Why?"
"Because that creature was a waste of money, and will be a waste of your time, if he does not change." Lilith explained. "Be grateful I allowed your father's idea of one years' worth of time being dedicated to training, and thank Walter when he gets back for taking the task of doing said training."
Lilith was NOT happy.
Her child had wasted money, brought home a stray, and expected them to accept it.
"If he does not prove himself useful," Lilith said coldly. "Walter will put him down. End of Story. Do you understand?"
"… Yes, mom." Charlie weakly replied, slowly eating.
"Charlie." Lucifer said, his tone soft and gentle. "We are just worried. Razzle and Dazzle are helpful, and I do think Naruto can do it, but from what you told us, he is just a random kid you purchased in Wrath. We are just worried."
Charlie nodded, not looking at her father.
Lucifer felt his heart break as Lilith's expression softened.
She knew she was being harsh and strict, but she felt it was the correct course of action.
She loved her daughter.
She wouldn't risk any harm to Charlie.
Evening…
"I am going out." Walter said as he added an over coat to his attire. "Do not leave the premise, do not touch anything, preferably, stay in your room, read the book I gave you, and go to sleep."
"Yes, sir." Naruto stated, his anger not hidden at all.
The vampire smirked as he left the fox.
He walked several steps before he teleported to Wrath.
Specifically, the No-Hold's Bard Coliseum.
He entered the establishment, approaching the front desk.
"Excuse me."
"Whach'a want?" the male imp behind the desk gruffly asked.
"I want to meet the owner."
"Well, Sorry ta say…" The imp said as he stood up, looking Walter in the eyes. "But da Boss is a busy woman, and she doesn't have time to…"
Walter interrupted the man by placing a business card in front of them.
"Welcome to No-Hold's Bard Coliseum, sorry for keeping you waiting." The man said, his once lazy posture straightening out, his attitude replaced with respect.
Walter chuckled as he followed the imp to his boss's office.
*KNOCK, KNOCK*
"Enter." A female voice called from behind the door.
Walter entered to see the owner of the Coliseum.
She was a tall woman.
She had white fur, long gray hair, three eyes (Her standard eyes being pale, and the third eye on her forehead was blood red), on her head were two rabbit ears and two horns that looked very similar to rabbit ears.
She wore a black and grab business suit.
Around her desk were several weapons, lots of paperwork, and what Walter could assume was blood stains on the floor.
"Who is this?"
"Pardon the late introduction," Walter said as he placed a business card on her desk, sliding it toward her, which she took, reading it. "I am Walter C. Dornez, Head Butler of Lucifer."
"I am Kaguya, a pleasure." The now named Kaguya said, tossing the card back on her desk, leaning into her hand. "What does the King want with me or my business?"
"Well, our Princess recently made a purchase here…"
"Ah, yes, she did." Kaguya said, her face scrunching into a scowl. "And interrupted my tournament."
"Indeed." Walter said in agreement. "She purchased one of your fighters, a young fox named Naruto."
"Yes."
"I would like to know about him. How he got involved with this place, and how his training has gone, as I am his newest mentor."
Kaguya quirked an eyebrow.
She stared at Walter for a minute, as if she was analyzing him, which was pushed further when veins bulged around her eyes, her focus seemingly enhanced.
The veins vanished as Kaguya spun in her chair, opening a filing cabinet.
Her fingers went through the files and grabbed two.
"My time is precious, and my information expensive," Kaguya said as she spun around, a cocky smirk on her face. "If you want all the information you seek, I'll need some… incentive to give it to you."
Walter returned the cockiness as he reached into his jacket, a LARGE stack of money being placed on the desk.
Kaguya quirked an eyebrow.
"I was thinking that…" She took the money, putting it in her desk. "And maybe…"
She stood up, her hand reaching up and unhooking the first four buttons on her suit.
"Oh, I see." Walter replied.
It was a LONG night, and the Bunny hopped.
Morning…
"You smell like rabbit." Naruto bluntly pointed out toward the vampire as he drank some tea.
"Do I?" Walter asked in mock surprise, lifting up his arm to sniff his arm pit. "Hm, I don't think so."
Naruto rolled his eyes… then blushed as his stomach grumbled.
"Well, it seems my duties as your mentor start now." Walter said, putting his cup down. "We shall start with cooking."
Chapter 2, DONE!
Yes, Naruto's newest mentor is Walter C. Dornez, who is a vampire.
His previous owner was Kaguya, who is a rabbit demon, not a sinner.
I had fun with this chapter.
Now, I am at a crossroad: Should I show Walter training Naruto (Remember, it isn't JUST combat training) or just skip and have Naruto return to Charlie, all butler-fied? I have a Poll for this set up, so please vote. Naruto's life is in your hands.
