"You okay there princess?" Sig's voice called me from my internal solitude. My eyes opened with effort on my part. My knuckles were white as can be from the act of holding on. My wings collapsed as if the bones and cartridge had been sucked out leaving only the skin.
"I have been worse by far but such extreme activities have not been preformed by me in many suns..." I drawled feeling so old.
"Going to take that and the speech as a no." He said looking over me. "Were in South town, tried getting you to slow down but you couldn't hear me. Had to keep on the brake the whole time so that I could actually control the vehicle without running over anything!" He said shaking his head but patted my back.
"Time?" I asked hissing at his contact.
"Got here sooner then thought! It's an hour an half till dawn!" Sig said.
"Mmhhh..." I said then collapse fully onto the vehicle like jelly. "Where are these races being held?"
"Kras city, place is filled with crooks. Not somewhere you raise a family. It's going to be an hour drive to get there but we're not going anywhere but somewhere to rest." He said firmly taking me by my arms. He dragged me to the edge and took ahold of my leg. He carried me to the passengers seat and buckled me up.
"Hour's rest is enough." I lightly protested.
"For you but I've been up for quite some time now!" Sig said making me smile. He was a good guy and a secret softy. He had only made that excuse so that I wouldn't fight him on it. "Okay, the Furry Corner..." I sighed.
"Already planned on it. You know Damas has started throwing the city's weight around to get better trades?" He informed getting into the car. "Says now that we have a second army that knows the city better then the people and are already on the inside, we have an advantage."
"I know, but I would never...ever use my people like that. They just got happiness in this city and liberation. I would cut off my nose and ears before I jeopardize that." I mumbled.
"Really?" He asked gaining a nod in response form me. "Your a good leader, make a fine queen."
"I'll yell at you about that latter..." I groaned snuggling into the side of the door. I heard his laughter boom across my ear drums making me frown. Once it died down I relaxed enjoying the feel of the vehicle moving and the sounds of the city and wind.
I didn't register that we had stopped or anything untill I heard the coe of Brutter as large furred hands lifted me up to a equally furred chest and soft fabric. "My girls all tuckered out!" Brutter said.
"Hi daddy! Sorry I haven't visited in awhile." I mumbled eyes closed.
"Shhh! Was planning on comings to you anyhow! You sleep!" He dismissed carrying me into the building.
"I knew it had to be her with the eco readings!" I heard Vin say triumphantly.
"Very well your hypothesis was correct, I shall conduct the research with the Lurkers tonight." Jean grumbled. I huffed in amusement but kept silent. The sounds of Lurkers filled the air but they seemed to keep it down seeing my state. 'Must look like shit.' I mused. Brutter carried me up stairs then laid me in bed and like that I was out.
"She should wake up at any moment now. Her vitals are all through the roof!"
"Indeed, it's almost too good." Jean agreed.
"Well if I wasn't asleep before I sure as hell ain't now..." I said popping from the waist up out of bed. "Hello, anything note worthy that you two have been doing since my last visit?" I asked them.
"Well, had sent out fail safe and signal strengthening devices throughout the city, Kras city and we are almost to the point of reaching Spargus." Vin informed popping up a map of the citys showing me what the devices looked like.
"We will be sending a receiving screen and holowires with you on your journey back. Also, we have been tinkering with ways to improve the lurker army and way of living. One project that we have successfully made and started to widely produce is duo vehicles. They are like zoomers but instead of being in the air they have two wheels. The Lurkers seem to prefer this to the standard land vehicles." Jean said showing a picture of something that very much resembled a motercycle.
"Really? What all can they do?" I asked grinning like an idiot. My Lurker's would look bad ass in black leather riding around on those.
"Speeds that surpass their zoomer cousins. Front facing machine guns, thick plating around the engine. Storage bins built under the seat and on the sides. Tires that are filled with a sealant gel that will provide the rider to continue going with out fear for a total of sixty hours." Vin said proudly.
"Good...I assume they can ride on sand?"
"Absolutely!"
"How about water?" I asked.
"What? Water? This isn't a boat Jackie!" Jean scoffed.
"But it is an interesting concept. An aquatic vehicle that can tread water and terrain...it would be worth looking into." Vin said his face disappearing.
"Fine, well look into it after we work on updating our storage components." He grumbled disappearing too.
"Come on down stairs, everyone's waiting for you. That Sig fella informed them about your reasons of coming." Vin informed. It was weird hearing a voice with no face. I sighed looking out the window seeing the sun high in the sky. 'Over slept...' I cursed throwing the covers off of me. I rushed down stairs and was immediately attacked by a huge purple Lurker.
"Good to see you Pluto!" I giggled patting him on the shoulder.
"Clan Chief busy, is missed by peoples. Pluto included." He gruffed out letting me down. Many other Lurkers stopped bidding me greetings and endearments as Pluto showed me down the tunnels. We turned into this huge room that had tools, parts and the Lurker motercycles in them. There was about ten in total. A few of them even had attachments of side cars or small trailers behind them.
"Hey Princess! Would you look at this? Don't much like trusting people who aren't even human anymore. Have to admit though, this is some neat stuff they got the Lurkers making." Sig said looking around.
"Pppfffff, of coarse it is! I want my Lurkers to be on par with everyone and equal, but not the same." I said smiling.
"That was an enigma! You mean you wish for their status to be the same but for them to be unique." Vin corrected popping up to the side of me. This time he was in full body pic.
"Nice pic Vin!" I complimented.
"Awe yes, makes people less nervous and more relatable when they see me as a human or something close." He said as Jean popped up a few feet away in front a group of Lurkers.
"It's great Vin, you did good with my people!" I beamed.
"Yeah well, it's the least I could do. Beside, they are interesting to study and a blank slate having only knowledge of basic technology. They think differently then humans so they inspire Jean and myself to create and do more." Vin said a little bashful at the compliment.
"Simplicity is sometimes the wiser coarse." Jean agreed from far away.
"Yeah, says the simplest of the two of you." I whispered.
"I heard that!" He yelled.
"You could probably hear me fart with how you got this place wired with those holowires and mics!" I countered.
"Your right, in fact you broke wind in your sleep eight times, three more then Sig did." Vin said smiling as he gave me this info.
"Fuck you guys counted?" I said slapping myself in disbelief.
"Wow, what did you eat?" Sig said looking down at me.
"My stomach doesn't like dairy but I love it...even though it causes gas for me." I said crossing my arms. "This is besides the point! We should get going."
"Yes, you needs to go. Help warrior save him and friends! We leave in ten minutes!" Brutter said coming down with two other Lurkers. One was Russell the other I had recognized as one of the guards posted outside.
"We? Who said anything about you coming with us?" I said furrowing my brows. Russell and the other Lurker ignored me as they grabbed their rides and lead it out of the room.
"I dids! Kras is bad citys! Bad guys are more common then small fishy near banks of river! We go and protect yous! Not that you needs it! Just be an shows of strengths so they no hassle you so muchs! Besides...BRUTTER MISSES PRINCESS!" Brutter broke down weeping as he captured me into a bear hug or should I say, Lurker hug.
"The more the merrier." Sig said completely cool with the idea.
"Fine! You guys can come as my body guards." I huffed looking over his shoulder seeing Pluto pick up two of the motercycles. 'Well...the company will be good!' I reasoned patting a still weeping Brutter on the back.
After a few minutes I was in drivers side of me and Sig's vehicle with Pluto and Caine, whose name I had finally learned a second ago, in the front of us. Brutter and Russell were behind. Caine look behind himself at me and gave a thumbs up. I turned and nodded to Brutter who smiled putting down his goggles over his eyes.
"Well Sig, I have to admit that I feel at ease knowing that a few of my guys are going with us." I said following the two riders in front of me.
"Didn't need them but it's nice none the less. We might have to rough up a few people to get directions as to where Jak is. People don't cooperate unless you do there." He said.
"Yay, now I don't have to get MY hands dirty...cause I don't trust myself not to accidentally use lethal force when I'm pissed." I confessed squeezing the wheel making the metal give way. It would no doubt leave the impression of my fingers on it.
"You have control in the arena though."
"That's different, I don't have any reason to get angry." I said frowning.
"True enough." He said looking at the wheel. "This is the car YOUR using now since you bent up the wheel. I've got a ride stored up there anyways." Sig said.
"Ha! Your a little weasel! You never planned on letting me drive your so called stored ride! Knowing you, you've already competed in these races!" I snorted throwing him a grin.
"Can't fool you can I?" He said.
"Nope, and if you try too I'll eventually find out. I'm not psyche...I'm seek-che. I seek information and I use that information to plot out the possible futures." I shrugged.
"Basically you guess a lot?"
"Basically! Yeah!" I said making us chuckle for a bit. Silence fell over us as we continued to drive onward. We soon reached checkpoint that was the end of the city yet more buildings were seen outside which I guessed to be Kras city. 'Interesting, I must find out more about this place as I'm here. How was it that I didn't hear about this place before? How was it formed?' I thought eyes flicking around drinking in this new territory. Roughly ten minutes passed before the two Lurkers stopped in front of this large building.
"This it?" I asked stopping behind them.
"Yes Ma'am. Come on, we've got some door men to rough up." Sig said getting out. I followed his lead which had the Lurkers getting off their rides. They stayed behind me as I walked side by side with Sig. There was two armed men at the door both heavily scared. "Let us pass." Sig demanded when they moved in front of me.
"We'll let you go Sig, but the little girl doesn't belong in there. Got to many females sleazing around as it is." One said sneering at me.
"Excuse me? Have a little more respect for women then that you pig. Those women in there are my friends and fine ass fighters. Could kick your ass in a second flat!" I said stepping up having to look up at the man.
"As if, but if you wanna try putting your money where your mouth is be my guess." He smirked. I didn't even give him an answer as my antenna's came out taking his gun from his hands. "What the!" He yelled in surprise causing his friend to point his pistol at me. Brutter and Pluto rushed forward disarming and tackling the man to the ground. I tossed the weapon into the street and whipped the man across the face leaving a thin trail of blood ozzing down his face.
"I don't have time for you but at a later time if your still game I'll be happy to fight. You, me. No weapons, none of my special features just pure fists." I smirked passing him. As I did I made sure to bump his shoulder sending him crashing to the wall. That had to have demasculinized him a bit. Sig fell into step besides me.
"Fucking Bitch!" He hissed but said nothing else. Brutter and Pluto had let up the other guy and followed after me and Sig along with Russell and Caine. I walked with purpose completely focused on my goal. The second I found another human being I stopped them.
"Hey, where's Jak?" I barked.
"Fuck off." He dismissed me walking off. I looked to Sig and indicated him with a tilt of my head. Sig had the man pinned to the wall with a painful arm wrenched behind his back in two blinks.
"I suggest you do as the lady says." Sig said applying pressure to the mans arm.
"Fuck! Third floor, he should be in the viewing room. Large doorway, forth down." He gritted. Sig let him go and followed me and the Lurker's to the stairs. "You'll pay for that!" The man yelled at us before running off.
"Brutter not like people in town." Brutter grumbled behind me.
"Really? I think I'm enjoying them. They'll make good punching bags! Best part is that I don't feel bad doing it cause they all deserve it." I said coldly.
"Which is why your down for fighting that guy despite what you told me earlier?" Sig questioned.
"Yep, this place needs law and order. To much corruption. It reeks of misery." I said wrinkling my nose as we neared the door that the guy had mentioned.
"They say that this championship is gonna come down to you guys and Mizo's dream team. Ha ha ha... Still, the odds makers say your team falls short." The unfamiliar said before Sig barged in with me falling behind him.
"That's because most fools haven't figured me into the mix!" Sig said walking in with out so much as checking out who it was that was talking.
"Sig!" Both Jak and Daxter yelled out.
"And Jackie!" I said stepping from behind Sig with a giant grin plastered on my face. The Lurkers walked into the room hearing Jak and Daxter's voices.
"Is my camera out of focus? The great Sig has entered the competition. This is going to be better than I thought. But, if you'll excuse me, I've got some real interviews to do."
"Yeah, you do that. Sorry I'm late for the party, guys. I head about Krew's little potion. That's why I never drink on the job. I say never trust a dead man. Don't worry, I'll help you get that antidote." Sig said pointing to me.
"Easy for you to say, your life's not on the line." Ashelin snapped.
"For my friends, it is." He countered.
"Good to have you back Sig." Jak said grinning.
"Great to be back! Now let's see about this so-called competition." Sig said shaking Jaks hand.
"Warrior! It's good to see yous again!" Brutter said rushing forward to scoop Daxter into his arms.
"Good to see you too Brutter. Why are you here?" Jak said looking to me. "I had told you to stay home." He frowned.
"She not one to sit back and not helps when friends are endanger or stresses! She came fast as coulds! She had to stop and rests at Lurker HQ! We come to be tough act! Wards off most trouble on streets hopefullys!" Brutter defended me dropping Daxter.
"Great, do you both have something to drive?" Ashelyn asked.
"Of coarse we do, think we would come unprepared?" Sig said. "Come on guys, let's get the rides in the garage." Sig said to the Lurkers. Brutter didn't look like he wanted to leave but after a look from me he obliged following Sig and his fellow Lurkers out the door.
"I can't believe you came." Jak said shaking his head with a smirk.
"If you had to deal with your father making sexually suggestive comments about you and me you wouldn't want to be hanging around the palace either." I said pouting.
"Geez, he's going on about that again?" Jak groaned.
"Yup, said he will be 'talking to you' soon." I said stressing it as much as I could.
"Excuse me for the interruption but, who are you?" A woman smartly dressed with purple hair done up in a bun said getting up off the couch.
"Names Jackie like I said. Who are you?"
"Rayn but that doesn't tell me who you are."
"Oh...well I'm kind of a hero along with Jak here. Haven't you heard about us?" I asked.
"I only vaguely know of Jak and his past feats do to his involvement with Daddy and the circumstances. Hero's aren't recognized in Kras I'm afraid." She said.
"Figures..." I shrugged.
"But the real question is, can you drive?" She went on.
"She can steer a wheel good and all. Though it's more of the tricks she can pull that make her a potentially dangerous driver then her wheel work." Jak told her looking down at me with a lop sided grin.
"Yeah! She can do a lot of neat magic tricks and shit!" Daxter added in.
"Well then, she's welcomed on this team then." Rayn said. "I look forward to seeing you out on the track Jackie." She said nodding at me.
"Aye, will do my best then some." I smiled at her.
"Come on, the next race is going to be starting soon." Ashelyn said getting off the couch.
"Your not letting Brutter or the others join the race are you? They aren't exactly known for their abilities behind the wheel much less then anything technolgic." Jak said in concern as we followed Ashelyn.
"All their really know for is there food! Boy I'm glad you brought them, no offense but no one can really cook around here." Dax gripped.
"No, of coarse not. Though, they've gotten better! In fact they have their own type of wheels now!" I told him.
"Really? So they didn't ride here on a bike or balloon?" Jak joked.
"Hell no! We did it in style Jak!" I assured descending the stairs.
"Jak! Look at these things!" Keria said the second we entered the garage. She was kneeling by a motercycle looking it over. Caine and Russell kept an eye on her making sure she didn't do anything wrong to their rides.
"Woah, they look kind of like zoomers." Jak exclaimed moving to another to examine.
"I know! It was likely inspired by the zoomers in the city!" She said turning her attention towards Jak but caught sight of me. Her face fell a bit as she did. "Jackie, guess I should of know when I saw the Lurkers." She said.
"Yeah, can't just sit around while my babe's fighting for his and our friends lives." I said making a silent verification of my relationship to Jak. I couldn't help it, it was a girl thing and I still kind of saw her as a threat and would continue to do so until she gets a man. 'Which reminds me, I need to get her a guy. Wish there was a eHarmony here or something...' I thought looking Keria over.
"Well kiddos, the race is about to begin! Get your butts behind a wheel if your driving." Sig said pulling in with a big jeep looking vehicle that was heavily armored. That bitch was a fucking tank!
"Alright! Let's fire it!" I said jumping into the vehicle me and Sig rode in on.
"Jackie! The rides your going up against have been built for nothing but speed and attack! You seriously think that can compete?" Keria exclaimed.
"Normally, no. With me driving it?" I said letting my antenna's come out and go into the engine. I turned in my seat and kicked the back of the chair twice make it loosen up where I could pry it off. "Here Daddy, hold this." I said holding out the chairs back for him. He got it and turned it around examining it. I turned back around and let out my wings allowing the tips to be outside the vehicles frame. "I don't need to compete anyways, I just need to fuck shit up for everyone who isn't on our side."
"Your going to use your Sage powers for this? That's cheating!" Keria gawked.
"This is combat racing, as long as I don't have a nuke I'm pretty sure everything goes." I countered.
"Jak, you can't be serious about letting her do this?" Keria turn to him only to find that he had already gotten into his ride. "JAK!"
"What? I don't order her around. If she wants to race she can. I'm not worried about her." He shrugged buckling up.
"Good boy!" I called from across the garage starting up the car. Jak rolled his eyes while Daxter got on the tail of the vehicle. I frowned at him in disapproval making a side note to tell Tess about this.
STORY UPDATE! SO AS YOU CAN ALL SEE IVE DECIDED TO DO THE JAK X GAME IN THIS STORY BUT ONLY LIGHTLY. THE GAME DIDNT HAVE A WHOLE LOT OF CUTSCENES OR EVENTS THAT TRUELY NEEDS TO BE TALKED ABOUT. THE STORY IS ALSO GOING TO GO FORWARD TO THE LOST FRONTEIR. DEPENDING HOW LONG THE STORY IS BY THEN DECIDES IF I CONTINUE ONWARD MAKING A NEW ADVENTURE FOR THEM OR JUST MAKE ANOTHER BOOK.
