Kagome
"You will stay in the dorm room you stayed in last night," Gon pointed at Legoshi, "she will be your responsibility. Do I make myself clear?"
I just stared at the floor because I wasn't really in the mood to deal with Principal Gon or anyone else. I was mad at the sacred tree and at whoever wanted me here. I was tired of them continuing to screw with my life and the lives of those I cared about.
"Kagome!" I looked up at Principal Gon.
He was glaring at me and I didn't feel anything except anger towards him.
"Did you hear anything I just said," I grit my teeth, "I heard everything. I understand perfectly. May I go now?"
I saw his nostrils flare, "no you may not. I don't care who you are. You will be respectful to me!"
He was standing now and he was clearly upset.
"I will respect you once you earn it. You clearly are incompetent if you find me threatening just because of who my uncle is," I glanced down, "so maybe I need to have him teach you a lesson about me. I respect people once they've earned it. You will never earn my respect past that of being my Principal. I've met men like you. I don't like you. I will follow your rules, but I will not be here forever. Now please hand me my schedule."
I held my head high. I would not let this creature scare me. I had dealt with far worse things than him. I watched as his nostrils flared. He picked up a folder and handed it to me.
"Everything you will need Ms. Higurashi is in there. Tread carefully." I nodded and turned away.
I walked out the door. I heard Legoshi behind me but I just kept walking. I didn't want to deal with this world anymore than I had to. I wanted to focus on getting home, but I had no idea how to go about that.
"Kagome, uh, wait up." I stopped.
I turned to Legoshi. I took a deep breath and smiled.
"What is it?" He looked uncomfortable.
"You really shouldn't run off alone. It's not safe," he glanced around, "what do you mean it's not safe?"
He looked past me. I saw a picture surrounded by flowers and then looked back at Legoshi.
"What happened," he looked at the picture, "a carnivore ate him."
I turned to the picture and I walked up to it. I knelt down in front of his picture and looked up at the damaged door. I stood and stepped over the flowers. I pressed my hand to the door and used my powers. I saw the student being chased. I felt his terror. I saw a brown bear chasing after him. I almost had a face when suddenly I was yanked away.
"What do you think you're doing?" Legoshi was worried.
"I have abilities. One of those abilities is sensing what happened. It's like how scents are different and let you know what happened. I can see it happening because fear and bloodlust is a negative emotion so to speak. I don't know who it is, but I've narrowed down the suspects," I felt a presence.
I felt two. One from above and one watching from a distance. I turned to Legoshi and I hugged him.
"I'm so sorry you lost your friend, Legoshi. I'm so sorry." I looked down the hallway.
There were tons of students. So many brown ones with fur, but I was looking specifically for bears. I found one who just happened to be walking by. His head turned and our eyes met. The look in them made me look away. I pulled away from Legoshi. That brown bear gave me the creeps. I would need to keep an eye on him. I wouldn't ignore my instincts in this new world. I heard a hissing sound and looked up towards the ceiling.
"I hear you up there. I suspect you are investigating the death of the student," malice radiated from the ceiling, "you don't have to say anything. Just listen carefully. I was able to narrow down the list of students who might have done this. I just need more time with that door. I don't doubt your abilities to track, but I have been tracking since I was a child. The faster we catch the one who did this the faster the school and its students are no longer in danger."
I no longer felt malice and sighed in relief.
"Who are you talking to?" I turned to Legoshi.
"You don't sense her," Legoshi shook his head, "hmm. Just me then. Do you really think that no one is looking into your friend's death?"
Legoshi looked confused, "I assume someone is. I just don't know who."
I turned back to the shrine made for the male alpaca. I knelt down in front of it and folded my hands together. I closed my eyes and focused on my powers.
May you rest and move on from this place. Your life was short, and you were taken too soon. I swear I will find your killer. Rest now.
I could swear I felt a breeze rustle around me.
Thank you.
I gasped and opened my eyes. I could see the faint outline of the student who died. He smiled at me.
You being here has allowed me to move on. So thank you for that.
Then he faded in a flash of pink. I stood up and looked at the door. I will come back later tonight after nightfall. I turned to Legoshi.
"We should probably head to class." He nodded and we walked away from the doors.
