Chapter 3

Some days pass without a sign of a mission, so that means free time for me. In those days I met up with Jones for a good half of a day, talking and laughing about the memories we made. Several hours have been spend at the shooting range to work on my skills. One whole day had been spend with other snipers, practicing and helping each other out. We need to stick together, that's our motto. The other waking hours I hung out with the A-team, read, wrote and listened. Such days could really lighten up my mood.

After those simple days, I lay in bed, reading a new book. "Mary, you here?" I hear Hannibal ask. "Coming!" I answer as I jump up. I mark my page, grab my Walkman and go outside my tent to see Hannibal. "Come on kid, we have a mission to prepare." He makes a sign for me to follow him so I do. After the walk towards their tents, the team and I sit down to discuss the mission.

Apparently the group of terrorists were fighting against is going to attack the isle of Krk. What we know is that they are going to land via chopper and ferryboat. The ferry transports vehicles. That means that some of us are on the ground and others in the air. The enemy is targeting on the small villages, so we need to wipe out the enemy before they get to them. The isle is known for its rough landscape with ups and downs.

"B.A. and Mary, you two are already on the ground team: Mary snipes on the hills, B.A. in the Ferry to wipe out the men there. Murdock takes the sky, eliminating the enemies choppers. Face and I are on road duty, blocking it so if the vehicles from the ferry come through, we can stop them." Hannibal explains. He goes in detail about who does what at what time, showing that this is not a game. "Mary, you are going to move a lot, so be prepared. You need to move between 3 hills to take shots and being our eyes." I nod and let the information sink in. At the end of the prep Hannibal lets B.A. check out the vehicle he needs to command. As he leaves the tent, Face immediately crosses his arms. "I'm not knocking him out." I arch an eyebrow in confusion. "Knocking out? For what?" Murdock grins as he turns to me. "That mud-sucker is afraid of flying, so we need to knock him out before we get him on a chopper." He explains.
