In this past, the Loud family and Sam sat down for dinner.
Even though all seemed to be going well, I didn't feel comfortable. I couldn't even enjoy my food out of fear that my usually chaotic family would ruin the night. I figured it was just a matter of time, but I was wrong. I doubt that Samuel noticed, but I knew what was happening. There wasn't a single night when most of my brothers failed to pull some stupid shit.
"Leif, would you do me the favor of giving me the potatoes?"
"Sure, Lexx!"
"Thanks, Leif, you're such a nice brother."
Even Jr. and Lars were in the act.
"Lynn, would you be so kind as to give me the last cheese roll?"
Lynn grit his teeth before Loki shot him a glare.
"The last one?…Yeah, why not? Even though they are my favorite, you can have the last one."
"Thanks, bro, you're the best."
Samuel seemed to be happy and oblivious of the tension. Luke could already sense that something was horribly wrong with tonight, but he couldn't figure out what it was. Was it a mistake to trust his siblings? Or-
"I like your family, Luke; I'm surprised at how chill they are."
"Yeah..they sure are."
Samuel had his flaws, but Luke had no reason to believe that he would ever hurt a fly. So why wouldn't his gut leave him alone? Something had to be done right now.
That was a time bomb. I needed help, and there was only one person I could really trust.
"I-I have to go to the bathroom!"
The 15 year old chestnut haired boy ran out of the dining room to reach the stairs, knocking over his chair in the process. His blond lover looked confused before shrugging.
"Um...alright. Take care."
Luke eventually entered his room. He quickly sent a certain snow haired girl a text before waiting anxiously.
"Come on, Linka! You have to see this."
The 11 year old was drinking water when she received her brother's text:
"Hey, sis, it's an emergency! Please come to my room."
Linka was there in no time; she was not going to leave any brother in need.
"Luke? What's going on? What's the emergency?"
The chestnut haired boy just sighed.
"Uh…Luke?"
"Come in, sis, and please close the door." Luke responded."
"What's wrong?"
"Link, I want to know…If you ever had to abandon something you loved even though things seemed to work."
"Huh? What do you mean?"
"What I want to say is that…I don't know if things between Samuel and I can last any longer."
The snow haired girl gasped as this was definitely not what she expected to hear right now. Why would Luke introduce Samuel to the entire family if they weren't on good terms?
"Wait, WhAAAAAT?
Luke was silent. The chestnut-haired boy wished he had the words to describe exactly what he felt, but he thought it couldn't be done to the fullest extent without making things worse.
"Luke, I don't know what is happening to you. Is there something you're not telling me? You seemed very happy during dinner."
"I was pretending to be happy…" Luke grumbled.
The chestnut-haired boy continued.
"Linka, I think I can understand you now…and I would like to apologize for any times we ruined your plans. I appreciate how everybody tried their best to make a good impression, but…we both know that our family will always be chaos."
Linka wanted to say something, but she knew that her brother was right. The rest of the Louds have tried to be considerate of her, but getting wrapped up into trouble has proven to be an inevitable part of living in the household.
"The last thing I want is to deceive Samuel…I don't know how Lane's boyfriend can stand us."
Linka rubbed her head.
"Well, I'm not the best at talking about romance…but love isn't just about tolerance; it's about what their hearts tell them. If Magnus wants to stay with Lane, it's because he wants to. Our family alone shouldn't have to affect his decision."
Luke had to admit that this made sense, but it didn't make him feel much better. Things might have been easier if the 15 year old fell in love with a girl instead, but it shouldn't have been that way. Luke couldn't bear the thought of losing Samuel, so there was no way that he could let anything or anyone come between them.
"Are you sure sis? Do you remember the letters? All the girls who received them rejected our brothers after inviting them to our house, even your man. I called you since I don't want the same thing to happen to Samuel."
"But what can I do? I already messed things up with Christian, Ronaldo, Pat, and Stan…Maybe taking to Lane or Loki would help you-"
The chestnut haired boy interrupted
"Linka, please…I don't want the advice of any of our brothers. This isn't about romance; it's about our family…"
Luke stuck his head out the window to get fresh air. The boy wished there was a way to get rid of his fears and insecurities; he wished he was strong enough to face whatever life might throw at him. Luke glanced over at his sister, and he knew that she understood. Linka was not going to let him go through whatever the future had in store for him alone.
"…And nobody understands this family better than you."
