Hi there, time to get another chapter of his underrated series. Thanks everyone for the love and support from the previous chapters, yes I had a ton that I wanted to talk about it and we will go around to go over some explanations on how this world is going to work. At least I made it sure that is not over 20 pages long. I am proud of that. Now let's get this thing going!
Yusuke was very confused on what he just heard, he was a devil with a human soul. How was that possible.
"Can you repeat that! Devil with human soul! That seems impossible.'' Said him.
"Oh it's not. For you see I sensed that you had a great potential for this job when I saw you rescuing that kid, I knew you could be the perfect candidate.'' Said Koenma.
"Wait, so you were going to resurrected me?'' Asked Yusuke.
"Yes, but we didn't expected Rias Gremory to do the ritual to turn you into her pawn. In a sense I am glad for that it means less paperwork.'' Said Koenma.
"You know the president?'' Asked Yusuke confused.
"Yes, but I haven't seen her since she was a little girl. I am more connected with her big brother.'' Said Koenma.
"She has a brother!'' Said Yusuke in shock.
"Of course, Kuoh is very well known to have to great devil families leaving in their areas. The amount of Yokais that tend to run away from that city is crazy.'' Said Koenma with a smile.
"Wait a minute, you said two great devil families. The president is one who is the other big devil.
"Sona Sitri, the future heir of the Sitri Household.'' Said Koenma.
Yusuke then had a good image of Sona, needless to say he didn't like her that much.
"That stuck up from the student council, she is a devil too! It makes sense, someone that boring and strict to rules was right to have no soul.'' Said Yusuke.
"Careful, both these girls come from powerful families plus their siblings are some of the higher ranked people in the entire supernatural world. The Gremory Clan has Lucifer and the Sitri Clan has Leviathan.''' Said Koenma making Yusuke in shock.
"Wait a minute! The president is related to Lucifer himself, you know from Hell itself. Plus, Sona is related to the giant Leviathan?'' Asked Yusuke.
"Oh no, they are not. You see the original devils have perished eons ago, so now there is the a title to be earned. Rias Gremory older brother Sizerch is the current Lucifer of the Underworld, while Sona Sitri big sister Serafall is the current Leviathan. Both are incredibly powerful on their own right.'' Said Koema,
"So Lucifer and the original big devils are dead?'' Asked Yusuke.
"Yes, it happened even before you and Rias were even born. I was just starting out when I saw Lucifer-san pass away, I never imagined seeing someone that powerful be gone, but in the end everyone and everything must have an end, its only right.'' Said Koenma.
"How come she hasn't told me this. I mean I only have been a devil a few days and she hasn't told me anything about her family. I just thought she was rich and shit.'' Said Yusuke.
"Rias doesn't like to use her name to get into places, plus her brother is know to pamper her. While Sona tends to be embarrassed because Serafall-chan likes to dress up as Magic Girl and do concerts. You know those in conventiosn.'' Said Koenma with a smile.
The teen just looked at that with a sweat drop, almost like he couldn't believe he had heard that.
"Why would a super powerful devil waste her time doing these cosplay stuff?!'' Asked Yusuke.
"Seras-chan is a powerful devil but she has a tendency to love the charm of a Magic Girl. She has over 20 dresses and even has fan clubs all over the Underworld.'' Said Koenma all serious.
"You seems to know a lot about this Seras chick.'' Said Yusuke.
"She and mister Koenma used to…'' Said Botan but Koenma cuts her.
"Anyway! Let's go back to the main topic you having your human soul despite being turned into a devil.'' Said Koenma
Yusuke decided to pay close attention to that information, he felt it would be important later.
"Every human is born with an amount of spirit energy, be small or big its stilt in everyone in the human world. While you weren't the nicest person you did had great potential, showing off great material and the nice quality for a powerful spirit user.'' Said Koenma.
"So I was born special?'' Asked Yusuke.
"Not exactly, despite your nice qualities you are kind of a shitty person. One that I wouldn't even want to be hanging around that much.'' Said Koenma.
"Hey!'' Said Yusuke.
"Calm down Yusuke, mister Koenma do you have an answer for his condition?'' Asked Botan.
"If I had to guest is because of his bloodline. At some point in his family history someone mated with a supernatural being, one that is very tied with the Supernatural world and can works with souls. It's a scary thing because it's not rare to see someone get the powers from their ancestors but its pretty rare to see them preserving their souls even when they are turned into devils.'' Said Koenma.
That left Yusuke a bit shocked, so he is not partially human, well he was born from two humans but at some point someone in his family got in a relationship with a supernatural beign and somehow they managed to get all the way to him. Talk about strong genes.
"So, because of my bloodline and my actions I was able to maintain my soul?'' Asked Yusuke.
"Yes, we still haven't figured out what Supernatural being your family tree spawned from but that's not the topic for now. We came here to speak about what matters the most.'' Said Koenma,
"And that is…'' Asked Yusuke.
Koenma kept a very serious look even with that toddler face.
"The job is spirit detective is to seek justice, a righter of wrongs, and the stalwart defender of the Human World. As a spirit detective your job will be working on cases to help maintain peace and balance between not only the human and the Spirit World but also the Supernatural one.'' Said Koenma making Yusuke head feel all hot
"Woah and I have to do this on my own. Can you two do it? Or does the Spirit world doesn't have a task force or some kind of military?'' Asked Yusuke.
"We have, but there are spiritual matters in the human world that it would make sending our special forces be a bit overkill. Also, the strongest members of our division force only answer to my father and this is mostly my idea.'' Said Koenma.
"Alright, that's a little better to understand.'' Said Yusuke.
"Botan is just one of my Shinigami's that work around. We have thousands but she is one of the few that works under me.'' Said Koenma explaining Botan.
"Yes, I am not much of a fighter anyway.'' Said her.
"Wait a minute, why are you even coming to get me? Aren't you guys tied to heaven and the angels? I know we are in a moment of peace between factions from what the president said, but aren't you guys…not fan of devils?'' Asked Yusuke.
"The Spirit world is from the Buddhist Mythology, not Judaism, Christianity, or Islam. We work more with the Shinto Gods than the Angels and Devils from the bible. When their war happened, we remained neutral in their fight and focused on keeping the human world saved. So, while they were wasting time killing each other we took care of people faith.'' Said Koenma.
"So the spirit world isn't against devils?'' Asked Yusuke, feeling he would be the only devil around these parts.
"The universe is not black and white as you might think Yusukke. I know not all devils aren't the monsters that the media portrays them to be, at least not anymore. In fact, it was all the Christian propaganda that just let a fire of those images in peoples head. Devils like your King have been living peacefully among the humans for a long time and wish no harm. Occasionally you get some bad apples here and there but they are dealt with. Now a days the Devils of the Underworld are good in keeping each other in a good position of power and policing themselves and the territory that they control. Because of their good job it was one of the reasons why the Spirit World hasn't need of a Spirit Detective in a long time.'' Said Koema.
"Well Rias kind let a bad guy enter her territory and I still haven't seen him brought to justice.'' Said Yusuke remembering the Fallen Angel.
"Yes but fear not, that Fallen Angel is not trying to spark a war. He is just a rogue agent.'' Said Koenma.
"You knew about him?'' Asked Yusuke.
"Yes, as a high figure in the Spirit World I have vast knowledge in what happen in territory in almost every realm in existence.'' Said Koenma all calm.
Yusuke just looked at that a bit nervous, yes he was getting nervous, that seemed like a lot of responsibility for a punk like him. He didn't know if he was going to handle this job well, he ever wonders if there were others.
"I have another question.'' Said Yusuke.
"Yes, speak away.'' Said Koenma.
"Was there other Spirit Detectives?'' Asked Yusuke.
"Yes, they were all humans but the last two didn't worked out so great. The first one had enough of this job and decided to retire, I let him go and wished him a good life. The second one rebelled against us and we haven't found him ever since.'' Said Koenma.
Yusuke didn't know about the second guy, maybe he was just a nut, meaning he had a good chance now.
"I guess it's time to let a devil do this kind of thing. I bet I can do 10 times their jobs!'' Said him.
"You are so full of yourself.'' Said Botan.
"What!'' Said Yusuke pissed.
"Nothing!'' Said Botan scared.
"Just because you still have your soul it doesn't mean you will have more strength than you already have, but you will soon gain powers that derivate from your spirit energy.'' Said Koenma.
"Really! Do I have accessed of them already?'' Asked Yusuke.
"No, is still too early plus your devil transformation is taking time for your soul find the right spot again.'' Said Koenma.
"What! My soul is moving?'' Asked Yusuke.
"Yes, but don't worry that wont hurt and you will feel it once stopped it.'' Said Koenma.
"Ok.'' Said Yusuke in confusion.
"Anyway Yusuke, if you accept your job as a spirit detective we can start right away.'' Said Koenma.
"What! Wont I be betraying Rias and the whole devil thing? I kind own her.'' Said Yusuke.
"You are not betraying Rias Gremory, you are getting a chance that a lot of devils would die to have. If you accept this position, you will get the blessing of the Spirit World which is something that no angel or devil has ever got. With these blessing things such as light spears won't hurt as much as they did the first time you were attack, but also it will give you immunity when entering places like Churches and Temples without feeling a chill or a headache. You will still get a headache if you say God which is something I cant force into you, but overall it's a fair deal. What do you say?'' Asked Koenma.
The deal was too good for Yusuke, immunity from those light spears and he could get in places that devils couldn't! How could you say no to that?
"Now that sounds good. I guess we have a deal.'' Said Yusuke.
"Good, now hold still.'' Said Koenma
The toddler soon started doing a weird movement with his hands and then a little orb of yellow white came out, soon implanted in Yusuke chest.
BIM
"What was that?'' Asked Yusuke.
"I place the Spirit Detective Badge in your body, now it's official.'' Said Koenma.
"Ok, so do I have any cases?'' Asked Yusuke.
"Yes, I do!'' Said Koenma all excited.
The toddler went to his paper to find two specific, he had a hard time during the pile of paper work that was accumulating, but he soon found it.
"There are two individuals in Kuoh with a good amount of Spirit Energy. It said that they would have horrible futures in a few days, and I need you to stop that.'' Said Koenma showing the pictures.
Yusuke soon saw who were the two individuals, to his shock it was Keiko and Kuwabara.
"What!'' Said Yusuke in shock.
"Uh! What is wrong?'' Asked Koenma.
"I know these two. One is a naggy girl and the other is a idiot.'' Said Yusuke.
"Oh good, so it will be easier to protect them.'' Said Koenma.
"Look, Kuwabara is a big boy he can take care of himself and he apparently he has a Sacred Gear thing, he will be fine.'' Said Yusuke.
"We still don't know if what will happen to him will be life related or future related. You will need to get a good look on that.'' Said Koenma making Yusuke annoyed.
"Ok, but what about Keiko, does she has anything?'' Asked Yusuke.
"Keiko Yukimura doesn't have a lot of spiritual energy, but if she had a good amount of training she could become a really strong fighter.'' Said Koenma.
"Oh yeah, like a girl like that will be good in fighting or something. She doesn't survive two days without someone protecting her, I did that for her all day during middle school.'' Said Yusuke.
"Oh so you care for her?'' Asked Botan with a smirk,
"I don't care, but I can't let someone I know for this long suffer.'' Said Yusuke being honest.
"This is why I felt you would be a great choice. Despite this trashy behavior you are truly a person who is willing to save others. However, you need to take a good luck, because the future of Keiko might not be for long.'' Said Koenma making Yusuke have a big look of horror.
"What! You're telling me that Keiko might die!?'' Asked him.
"Yes, we don't know of what but her files apparently are saying it that her life numbers might not last too long.'' Said Koenma.
Yusuke soon grabbed Koenma by the collar almost like he was going to choke him.
"Yusuke wait!''
"Can't you just tell death to reschedule that!'' Scream Yusuke.
"We don't make the rules and also death is not like in the movies! Even when don't know when people die! But if you stop that then her future might be changed!'' Said Koenma shouting.
Yusuke was a bit nervous but then he stopped holding Koenma.
"Fine, I will do this job.'' Said Yusuke.
"Good, now try to be descriptive also don't drag your mistress and your other Peerage members with you. Only you have a blessing from the Spirit World, and I would hate anything happen to the little sister of a dear friend of mine.'' Said Koenma.
"Alright, I will keep it a secret until we cant hide it.'' Said Yusuke.
"Oh boy.'' Said Koenma.
The toddler just gave him the files and Yusuke was now on his case.
"Ok, I guess this is it.'' Said Yusuke.
"Good, now before you leave…Take this!'' Said Koenma taking out something out of his clothes. It was a egg.
"What is this?'' Asked Yusuke confused.
"is the egg of a spiritual beast, in other words your future familiar.'' Said Koenma.
"A familiar?'' Asked Yusuke
"A familiar is something that devils have. Usually, a creature that can aid their master in various terms.'' Said Koenma.
"Great, so I will be a having a kick ass spiritual monster as a familiar! Man, this is getting better.'' Said Yusuke with a smirk.
"Don't rush things! We don't know what kind of creature might pop out of there, it might be a small thing or something that could eat us all. In other words, it will all depend on your spiritual energy and your feelings.'' Said Koenma.
The teen just looked a bti confused at that and wondered what kind of creature would appear if it was up to his feelings and his energy.
"So how long does it takes for this thing appear?'' Asked Yusuke.
"About 2 years.'' Said Koenma.
"What!'' Asked Yusuke in shock.
"But you will grow stronger thanks to your devil form, it might accelerate the process.'' Said Koenma.
Yusuke just saw the egg and while he wanted to squash it he felt it was better to keep it safe.
"Fine, I will put in a place that my mom can't eat it.'' Said Yusuke.
"Good, now go Yusuke Urameshi your mistress might be worried, and the Spirit World and Human World are grateful for your protection.'' Said Koenma.
The two soon bowed down to the toddler and soon went off back to the human world.
At the sky of Kuoh
Yusuke was flying while looking at the egg that Koenma gave him.
"I can't believe it I am going to be a chicken to hatch this thing.'' Said Yusuke.
"Yes, but don't worry the journey will be good.'' Said Botan with a smile.
"I am not talking to you!'' Said Yusuke pissed.
"Oh wait, what about Rias? She will be worried how your first job went.'' Said Botan with a point.
The teen stopped for a moment and after a few seconds he had an idea.
"Just give me the job request.'' Said Yusuke.
"Uh?'' Asked Botan confused.
"Tell that the job was done perfectly! Better than you could ever imagine!'' Said Yusuke.
"Ok.'' Said Botan.
The Shinigami gave her the approval on the job request, soon it started to glow.
"Done.'' Said Yusuke with a smile.
"Are you sure you can go there and give this to her?'' Asked Botan.
"I got away for worst things, just because she saved my life it doesn't mean I am 100% honest about everything I do. Besides, I went to do a job, and I did it.'' Said him with a smile holding the request.
"Alright. Well, I will contact you if something happens.'' Said Botan.
"Ok, see you around.'' Said Yusuke.
The two soon went their opposite directions, Yusuke hiding the egg in his jacket and trying to make a good excuse why he returned so late, not giving any spiritual vibes to Rias.
At the ORC
Yusuke arrived at the club and saw that it was only Rias there.
"I am back.'' Said him.
"Yusuke! You're returned!'' Said Rias surprised.
"Yep, job done and liked by the client.'' Said Yusuke giving Rias the paper.
The president saw that the job had the approval of the person who requested, but she was still confused why it took Yusuke so long for a simple job.
"That took you three hours? Just to help a girl?'' Asked Rias with a serious tone.
Yusuke wasn't intimidated by that; his mom had a more serious tone than Rias.
"She was being harassed by a gang, not a good one so I had to kick their asses and deal with their leader. It took me a while to put the fear of Yusuke Urameshi in their hearts and to make sure the girl was fine.'' Said Yusuke giving his story.
"Oh really?'' Asked Rias.
"Yeah, but hey I did a good job, kicked some ass and got some cake on the way. Yeah, I kind goof off after that but I came back, sorry for that won't happen again.'' Said Yusuke being simple.
Rias wanted to punish him but she heard tales from new comers devils goof off in their first job, it wasn't unheard and Yusuke wasn't going to be dedicated to her ideal like her other members.
"Understood, but next time once the job is done come back to the club. No excuse!'' Said Rias.
"Ok president, you're the boss.'' Said Yusuke.
Rias just took a deep breath, Yusuke was a simple guy but he wasn't easy to give order, you need it to make sure he was going to get something in return. There are time that Rias hoped that Yusuke was a pervert so she could use her body to make him do whatever, but he wasn't that much of pervert.
So yes, Yusuke got the Spirit Detective Job, and he is on the case to protect Keiko and Kuwabara. Mostly taking inspiration from those episodes in the anime. The anime did the first stories much different from the Manga, there Yusuke did a bunch of problem solving as a spirit but in the anime he helped Keiko and Kuwabara and I feel its fine.
Rias was a bit suspicious of Yusuke, but she doesn't go around to chase after him or demanding answers. Also, Yusuke is not a pervert, so showing her tits and body is not going to make him spell out everything you need. Yeah, sorry I can't help it to take a shot at Issei as much as I can.
