Note - while most pokemon don't have surnames, species names are used for specificity and formality. For example, a sneasel named Kris might be called Kris Sneasel in an official document.

Madame Mayor,
I hope this document finds you well, at whatever hour you might be reading it. The ranger teams have submitted all reports approved by the ranger commander, and I have summarized the the most important information here. Attached to this page are the complete reports, as reference if needed.
The capture of crime leader Coromack Palossand was a major victory, but we should be prepared for a potential power vacuum. Minor criminals inside the city may be emboldened by this, and larger-scale outlaws from Spikemuth may see an opportunity to encroach into Hammerlocke territory. Eastern team is aware and preparing. In the meantime, I recommend a PSA to the citizens, reminding them to keep vigilant and stay safe.
The kingdom of Wyndon has officially annexed everything north of Route 10 into a single territory, with only some resistance from outskirt settlements, and they are now beginning their expansion southward towards us and our sister cities. Fortunately, the kingdom has made no significant progress here in Hammerlocke territory, and they still follow the code of fair engagement in combat - I believe it is best that we do as well. Communications with Circhester and Stow-on-Side remain positive and ongoing.
The dungeon of Victoire Polteageist, named Haunt Manor, is under surveillance. Shadow diversity has increased to more species, but still mostly ghost-types and those adjacent. The rangers are optimistic about the chances of recovering Victoire herself, and a reconnaissance expedition deeper into the dungeon is under consideration between the teams. However, some locals have claimed an increase in activity that has yet to be confirmed. Further reports will hopefully clarify.
Lastly, a reminder that the ranger team competition is approaching. The public will almost certainly want to spectate, and we should prepare a designated area for the rangers to 'cut loose' if (or when, more likely) they get 'overly enthusiastic.' I'm sure I don't need to remind you of the collateral from the last competition.
I know you're busy, but please remember to take care of yourself, and let me know if you need anything sent to you. I'd rather have you eat in your office than forget to eat at all.
With love, Hammerlocke Mayoral Assistant Tillery Lurantis
PS - Apologies for the late addition, I've just been informed that the northern team has apparently found an amnesiac sneasel? Further details incoming, but I'm sure it's nothing important.
A/N:
(Update July 28th: Thanks to everyone who submitted characters! Most of the main cast is now set, but feel free to PM me about an idea if you still want to submit someone, since I might get to use more submissions later.)
New story! Don't worry, Mortarboard is still alive, it just keeps getting larger the more I outline it, so I wanted to take on something else to practice writing while I take my time on MB. So if something seems super cliche or ripped from Mortarboard, that's probably because it super is! Still, let me know if you think anything in specific could be better.
The majority of the story will be Kris having adventures in this mystery dungeon alternate Galar region, and I imagine most major characters will be comrades and teammates, with probably a few submitted enemies too. The rules and form are on my profile, but the most important rule to note is that I'm only accepting pokemon originally from Gen.8, so only Galarian, Hisuian, and G-max capable mons. Hit me up if you want more info or have any questions! Deadline is currently June 12th, but might change if I need it to, and I'll probably confirm some submissions before that so that I can use them for chapters right out the gate.
The rest of the story obviously won't be in letter form, this is just to give an idea of the setting and exposition from some minor side characters. Don't let the scary talk about kingdoms and crime fool you, it's still a pretty cartoonish world, just a little more complicated than the video games, with stuff like crime bosses and conflict between cities.
Hit me up if you have any questions, and thanks for reading!
