Chara's words, "I'm here to give you a choice," hung heavy in the air, the unspoken meaning clear to everyone present. The Straw Hats exchanged glances, a mixture of hope and trepidation reflected in their eyes.
Chara nodded.
A heavy silence descended upon the Sunny. The memories of Frisk's unwavering selflessness, their willingness to put their life on the line for their friends, flooded back to them. The weight of their own ignorance, their unwitting reliance on Frisk's powers, pressed down upon their hearts.
Usopp, his voice barely a whisper, broke the silence. "We... we didn't know," he choked out, tears welling up in his eyes. "We didn't realize what we were asking of her."
Chopper, his furry face contorted with grief, nodded. "We've been so selfish," he sobbed. "We never stopped to think about what Frisk was going through."
Robin, her eyes filled with a newfound understanding, spoke softly. "We took advantage of their kindness, their willingness to help us.
Nami's voice, normally confident, wavered with emotion. "Frisk... they always put themselves in harm's way for us. she trusted us, believed in us, even when we didn't deserve it."
Franky's metal fists clenched, his usually boisterous demeanor replaced by a somber resolve. "We've been idiots, relying on the kid's kindness without realizing the cost. It's SUPER not okay!"
Sanji, his voice a low murmur, lit a cigarette, the flame reflecting in his eyes. "she deserve happiness, damn it. A chance to live a life free from pain and sacrifice." He took a deep drag, exhaling a plume of smoke that swirled in the empty air. "But do we have the right to ask that of them again?"
A wave of guilt and regret washed over the Straw Hats. They had failed Frisk, not once, but countless times. And now, faced with the possibility of bringing them back, a new question arose: did they have the right?
Zoro, his voice filled with a quiet resolve, broke the silence. "We may have failed them before," he said, his gaze unwavering. "But that doesn't change the fact that Frisk is a part of our crew."
A hush fell over the crew as Luffy spoke up. "Frisk once told me" he began, his gaze fixed on the endless void. "They said a friend sent them here to find happiness. But they also wanted to find a way to save that friend, even if it meant leaving this world."
Luffy paused, "If Frisk wants to rest," he continued, "Then I'll respect her decision. It's her choice."
The other Straw Hats opened their mouths to protest, but Zoro raised a hand, silencing them. Luffy continued, his voice growing stronger with each word.
"I was weak," he admitted, "I failed all of you. I failed Frisk, I failed Sabo, I even failed Ace." He took a deep breath, his resolve hardening. "But I have to hear it from Frisk themselves. I have to know if she found her happiness and wants to stop now."
He paused, drawing a deep breath. "But if Frisk hasn't given up," he continued, his voice ringing with a fiery conviction, "Then neither will we. We won't stop fighting until we bring her back. And we won't let her sacrifice herself ever again."
A soft smile spread across Chara's face, a flicker of warmth replacing the earlier sadness. "I figured that was going to be the decision," she said, she voice filled with a quiet understanding.
Suddenly, the heart-shaped fragment that Frisk had given to Luffy emerged from his chest once more, pulsating with a radiant light. The Straw Hats stared in wonder as the heart floated above them, casting an ethereal glow over the deck of the Sunny.
With a blinding flash, the heart expanded, its light engulfing the entire ship. When the brilliance subsided, a shimmering portal had opened in the center of the deck, swirling with a kaleidoscope of colors.
"The portal won't last long," Chara explained, her voice echoing through the sudden silence. "And only Luffy can pass through."
Usopp, his brow furrowed in confusion, stepped forward. "Why only Luffy?" he asked, his voice tinged with worry.
"Frisk gave a part of their soul to Luffy," Chara replied, their gaze fixed on the glowing portal. "Only he has the connection to reach them."
The weight of the revelation hung heavy in the air. Luffy, the bearer of Frisk's soul fragment, was their only hope.
Before Luffy could say another word, a low rumble shook the Thousand Sunny. The Straw Hats exchanged uneasy glances, their hands instinctively reaching for their weapons.
From the swirling darkness emerged a swarm of creatures unlike anything they had ever seen. They were twisted, shadowy beings with glowing yellow eyes, their forms constantly shifting and morphing. Some resembled grotesque animals, others inanimate objects contorted into monstrous shapes, but all shared an unsettling aura of malice and hunger.
The Straw Hats reacted with varying degrees of shock and disgust.
"What the hell are those things?!" Usopp shrieked, his voice echoing through the void.
"They look like... nightmares come to life," Robin murmured, her eyes narrowed in concentration.
Chopper, clinging to Usopp in fear, whimpered, "Are they gonna eat us?"
Chara's voice cut through the rising panic, her tone grim and resolute. "These are the manifestations of the darkness within Frisk's heart," they explained. "The pain, the trauma, the countless sacrifices they've made... it's all taken form."
Zoro stepped forward, his swords drawn. "We just need to cut them down," he declared Nami nodded, her resolve hardening.
A hush fell over the crew as Chara's words sunk in. The monstrous figures outside the Sunny snarled and clawed, their presence a reminder of the darkness Frisk had carried. Luffy, his resolve hardened, turned to his crewmates.
"I'm going," he declared, his voice firm.
Zoro stepped forward, his hand resting on Luffy's shoulder. "Go, Luffy," he said, his gaze unwavering. "We'll hold them off."
Without hesitation, Luffy leaped into the swirling portal, disappearing into its depths.
As the portal closed behind him, the Straw Hats prepared for battle. Zoro, Sanji, Franky, and Brook jumped from the ship, their weapons drawn, ready to face the onslaught of shadowy creatures. Nami, Usopp, Chopper, and Robin took up defensive positions on deck, their resolve hardening with each passing moment.
Ace, his fists clenched, made to join the fight, but Chara stopped him with a gentle touch.
"You have a different role to play, Ace,"
Ace looked at Chara
"If Luffy succeeds," Chara continued, "will you give half of your soul to Frisk?"
Ace's eyes widened in surprise, then hardened with resolve. "It was my fault," he said, his voice thick with emotion. "I was a dead man if not for Frisk. I'll gladly do it."
Chara nodded, a flicker of approval in their eyes. "Your lives will be intertwined," she warned. "If one of you dies, the other will follow."
Ace's resolve didn't waver. "I understand," he said, his voice unwavering. "Frisk saved my life. This is the least I can do to repay that debt."
With a solemn nod, Chara placed a hand on Ace's chest. A warm glow enveloped them both, and Ace felt a strange sensation, as if a part of him was being drawn away. But it wasn't painful, not in the way he expected. A red heart shape, identical to the fragment Luffy carried, emerged from his chest. It pulsed faintly in the air for a moment before flying towards Chara, who reached out and grasped it gently.
Chara, clutching Ace's soul fragment in their translucent hand, observed the heart with a thoughtful expression. "His soul... it has a remarkable compatibility with Frisk's," she mused, a flicker of hope in her eyes.
Ace, attempting to rise, suddenly felt a wave of dizziness wash over him. His legs buckled, and he collapsed back onto the deck, his body refusing to obey his commands.
"Ace!" Nami cried, rushing to his side.
"What's happening?" Usopp asked, his voice laced with panic.
Chopper, his medical instincts kicking in, quickly checked Ace's pulse. "He's alive," he reported, his voice trembling, "but his energy is incredibly low."
Chara, watching the scene unfold, explained, "I've just extracted half of his will take time for him to recover."
Chara turned to the remaining Straw Hats, their voice firm and commanding. "Your priority is to protect Ace until Luffy returns. He's vulnerable now, and any harm that befalls him could have dire consequences for Frisk."
"Okay!"
"Roger!"
"You got it!"
With those words, Chara drew her signature knife, a chilling glint in their eyes. As the others left preparing to defend. Chara made a bittersweet smile. She muttered to herself "This is my last time ever to be with you guys. Might as well enjoy it." Chara leaped off the ship.
Luffy stumbled out of the portal, blinking as he adjusted to the dim light. The air was still, a soft breeze carrying the faint scent of salt and sea. He found himself standing on a familiar wooden dock, the gentle lapping of waves against its pilings a comforting sound.
The harbor was empty with just the ocean and some sand with a random boat that's perfectly still a few hundred meters away.
A figure emerged from the shadows, stepping onto the dock. It was a humanoid goat, their fluffy white fur almost glowing in the dim light. Long ears twitched, a friendly smile revealing a set of surprisingly sharp fangs. He wore a simple green shirt with yellow stripes, black pants, and a golden locket that glinted against his chest.
The goat-like figure approached Luffy, his hooves clicking softly against the weathered wood. "Howdy," he greeted, their voice warm and inviting. "You must be Luffy, right?"
Luffy, still disoriented from his journey through the void, nodded slowly.
"My name is Asriel," the goat-like figure continued, his smile widening. "Come, walk with me."
Luffy followed.
Asriel and Luffy walked side-by-side down the weathered dock, their footsteps echoing in the eerie silence.
"You're here to save Frisk, aren't you?" Asriel asked, a hopeful note in their voice.
Luffy nodded, his expression determined. "I promised," he said simply.
Asriel let out a sigh of relief. "I'm glad," they said, their voice filled with a warmth that belied the desolate surroundings. "It's good to know Frisk has friends like you in that other world."
They walked in silence for a moment, the sound of the waves lapping against the dock the only accompaniment.
"Frisk is... special," Asriel began, a hint of pride in their voice. "she's kind, compassionate, always willing to put others before themselves."
Asriel continued, their voice taking on a more somber tone. "But she also endured so much pain, so much loss. she always carried the weight of the world on their shoulders."
"You must be the friend Frisk wanted to save," Luffy said
Asriel stopped abruptly, their eyes widening in surprise.
Asriel's ears drooped, and a shadow of sadness passed over his face. "Frisk told you that too, huh?" he asked, his voice barely a whisper.
He knelt down on the sandy shore of the void, his hooves tracing patterns in the sand. With a few deft movements, he created a simple drawing of Frisk.
"The truth is," Asriel began, his voice thick with emotion, "I'm super glad that you guys haven't given up. It shows how much you guys care about her, how much she loves her new life."
He paused, his gaze fixed on the drawing in the sand. "But at the same time, it makes me so sad, it's not Frisk's fault but I couldn't see it. But Frisk doesn't think that, she can't see it that way. She always blames herself, always carrying the weight of the world on her shoulders."
Luffy nodded.
Asriel chuckled softly, a bittersweet sound in the empty void. "That's Frisk for you," he said, a hint of pride mingling with the sadness in his voice. "Always the hero, even when she don't have to be."
Luffy's eyes, usually sparkling with mischief, now held a depth of emotion that surprised Asriel. "I don't need Frisk to be a hero," he declared, his voice firm yet gentle. "Heroes are lame. They always have to sacrifice themselves and stuff. I just want Frisk to be Frisk. My friend."
Asriel blinked, taken aback by Luffy's simple yet profound declaration. "You're... you're the first person besides Chara to say that," they admitted, their voice filled with a mix of surprise and admiration. "Everyone else always focuses on Frisk's kindness, their selflessness. But you... you see them for who they truly are."
Luffy tilted his head, a puzzled look on his face. "That's stupid," he retorted, his voice blunt but honest. "Everyone in the Sunny sees Frisk for who they are. She's our friend. We don't care about any of that hero stuff. We just want her to be happy. Sounds like that place Frisk came from was full of idiots."
Asriel burst into laughter. Asriel's laughter subsided, replaced by a somber expression. "Yeah," they agreed, their voice heavy with regret. "We were idiots for sure."
A silence fell between them, broken only by the gentle lapping of waves against the spectral Sunny. Asriel reached into his pocket, pulling out a golden locket. He opened it, revealing a bright red heart-shaped object that pulsed with a soft light.
"This is Frisk's true soul," Asriel explained, his voice filled with a mix of sadness and hope. "Once you have this, you can go back and save them."
Luffy's eyes widened with anticipation. He reached out to grab the soul, but Asriel pulled it back, a look of apology on his face.
"I'm so sorry, Luffy," he said, his voice thick with emotion. "I truly wish I could give this to you, but I'm here as a test... a test given by Gaster." The name Gaster seemed to leave a bitter taste in Asriel's mouth.
"I can't give you the soul, no matter how much I want to," Asriel continued, his voice filled with frustration. "It's beyond my control."
As Asriel spoke, he began to walk across the surface of the void, his hooves leaving ripples on the nothingness as if it were water. Luffy instinctively tried to follow, but a gust of wind pushed him back, a silent barrier preventing him from reaching his Asriel.
"Luffy!" Asriel's voice boomed across the void, echoing through the silence. "You must defeat me if you want to save Frisk!"
Luffy's eyes widened in surprise. "Defeat you?" he echoed, his voice filled with determination. "But you're Frisk's friend!"
"Yes," Asriel replied, his tone somber. "But this is the test Gaster has set for you. Prove to me that you can protect Frisk, that you're worthy of their love and trust."
Luffy grinned, his fists clenching. "You got it!" he shouted, his voice ringing with confidence. "I'll save Frisk, no matter what!"
Asriel smiled, a glimmer of hope shining in his eyes. "I believe you will, Luffy," he said. "Now, show me your strength!"
With a blinding flash of light, Asriel's form transformed. The gentle goat-like creature was gone, replaced by a towering figure wreathed in darkness. His eyes blazed with an otherworldly light, and a giant, pulsating heart, similar to the one Frisk had given Luffy, floated before his chest.
The God of Hyperdeath had arrived.
Luffy, undeterred by the imposing figure before him, activated Gear Third. His arm swelled to monstrous proportions, his body crackling with raw power.
"Gomu Gomu no... GIGANT PISTOL!" he roared, launching himself towards Asriel, his fist a blur of motion.
