I know chapters have been short and I have been making you all wait long periods of time. Sorry about that. I'm get to my stories. I'm just slow.
Chapter 7
Luffy lays on the ground panting from training with his grandpa. "Crazy old man." He breaths out breathlessly.
Grap towers over him with a massive grin on his face. "Now, now. You know I do this out of love. For I want you to grow up big and strong." He tells the littlest of the monkey's.
Zoro from the sidelines let's out a sigh. "If you want him to be strong you also want him to be cunning and smart. You must also train his brain along with his body. Otherwise he will be a mindless buffoon once he is old enough to set sail to become a Marine or a Pirate whatever path in life he chooses." She tells the eldest of the Monkey's.
Now this has Garp looking over at the greenette with a questioning air around him. "What do you mean?" He questions her.
She let's out a sigh. "My momma told me. For one to be incredibly strong they must be strong both in mind and body. If one does not train their mind and only trains their body they are lacking. If one only trains their mind and doesn't train their body they are lacking. If they train both they are in harmony with body and mind." She tells him looking at him as if he had grown a second head.
'She really does remind me of my old friend from the west sea.' He thought to himself. "Very well. I'll ask Makino if she will be able to aid in teaching Luffy and yourself." Garp told her as he looked at Luffy as well.
Luffy just looked at him all wide eyed.
Zoro just looked at Luffy and smiled. "You'll now be able to ready all those story books in the house. If we allow Makino to teach you how to read." She told him with smile.
"YAY!" Cheered Luffy as he bounced around the clearing.
Time Skip
If had been two weeks with Luffy fighting with the fighting monkey's in the morning and in the afternoons sitting in the bar with Garp and Makino learning how to read and write. As Zoro worked on math and other things as she was furth ahead of Luffy when it came to studies.
The Red Force Docked at the end of the dock with Shanks and Benn jumping down and heading back into town noticing an old war dog's ship. "Well it looks like and old dog is in town." Comments Shanks as he chucks looking at Benn.
"It appears so." Benn comments back as they both make their way back to Makino's bar where they find the old dog teach Luffy 1+1=2.
Luffy the adorable little monkey he is. He is soaking up all that is he begin tough by the two adults in his life.
"Well this is something I never thought I would see in my life." Said Shanks as he enters the bar.
"Well you red hair brat. My grandson needs to be well rounded I as well need to talk to you about allowing him to eat a devil fruit." Garp said with a little bit of a bite to his tone.
Shanks holds up his hands. "That was an accident. I didn't mean to happen." He tells the old dog with fear lacing his voice as he knows that man will kick his ass back to the grand line with ease.
"That is what Luffy told me. He picked the lock and ate the fruit." Garp told him with a smirk.
Shanks jaw dropped open. For this entire time he had thought they never locked the little chest it was in.
"Enough of that. How much long will you brats be on my island?" Garp questions. Stopping from teaching Luffy basic math.
"I think we will be here for another 2 months and then head back home. We have only been here for 4 months. We don't want to make the others think we turn tail and ran away." Shanks said with a smirk.
"Alright. While you are here I expect you to keep Luffy on track with his studies as well as Zoro. The other two brats are on their own as they refuse to learn with these two. As well, I want you to teach Luffy and Zoro any fighting styles you know and any weapons you seem to think that will fit them. I know Zoro uses swords, but maybe someone who knows how to fight with daggers would be go to teacher as it will be an ace up her sleeve. Luffy the same as well as a gun or whatever." Garp tells them. "I want them well rounded. AS this is a dangerous world we live and I don't know what path these two will take in life. As life….my little Luffy as a bullheaded one and will pick a path most deadly and I want him to live and see his dream through." He adds with a far away smile. As if he knew something the others didn't.
"Yeah sure. We can do that." Shanks tells the man. "We can do a lot in two months and if necessary. We can stay an extra month." He adds as if it is nothing.
"Good." Garp said clasping the younger man on his shoulder. "As I need to return to work. I leave them in your care." He tells them as he grabs his Dog mask and walks out of the bar. Returning to his ship as if nothing had happened. AS if was just another day of the week and the Red Force had never docked on Dawn Island.
It was time for Garp to take a small trip to the West sea before returning to work.
