Plea

A hundred years passed since cosmic "justice" claimed Leola's life. Aaravos had spent the last century grieving. His hatred against his kin burned. To what could he do against beings as strong as himself? He needed an edge – something that could help bring down the heavens. What a fool he was in wasting precious years searching for a solution within Xadia itself as if the answer to this problem could be found within.

There was the tale of a Nova Blade but that was a mere trinket. Startouch elves would be reborn when the time was right. His pursuits had led him to the mentions of an ancient being. The creator of them all was a dragon – as if it were to be believed. A dragon made of stars.

The very notion was preposterous, but what choice did he have? Talking to the creator was easy, far easier than he expected.

Within his observatory, he recited a spell that made contact. "Please great one, I beseech thee to help me right this ancient wrong. My kin took the life of my child. My heart desires vengeance even after all this time."

"This playground again? Interesting," the dragon said.

"Great Aurelion I beg of thee to use your powers for my cause."

"An aspect comes to beg me for aid? Comical."

"Aspect?"

"Beings such as yourself. I tried living as one of you once. How dreadful was such an existence that I forged the Nova Blade."

"I don't understand."

"How else would one vanish?"

"You could ascend to the heavens."

"Then they would know that I was in the heavens. I tire of this, insect."

Aaravos realized he had begun arguing with this majestic dragon that could solve his problems. "I apologize for my insolence. My fellow aspects condemned my child to death. They wouldn't show mercy."

What greater weapon was there other than truth? The truth was all he needed to convince the dragon. The dragon gave him a coin. "Toss it, head or tails."

"Heads." Aaravos couldn't bear to look at the coin itself.

"I am amused. You know your place. Should I help you?"

"I would do anything."

"Not even I would believe that. Fragile. Weak." Aurelion channeled visions into Aarovos's mind.

Aaravos's mind in an instant witnessed the most depraved fantasies and what anything could mean. "If that's what it takes."

"Fortunately for you, I care little about that."

Aaravos felt a great burden disappear. "What do you desire of me?"

"The very idea of an aspect wielding the power of the stars offends me. That includes you. I created the stars. They are my domain."

"If you desire my life, so be it."

"Nothing as drastic. If you so wish it, all shall change after the next eclipse."

"I do."

"And so shall it be."

Was vengeance going to be that easy? Aurelion severed contact with him. All Aaravos had to do was wait for the world to change. The startouch elves would be no more.
