(Back with Bill…)
Boredom…
It had a way of kicking you while you were down, and boy was Bill Cipher down.
His Pine Tree had been gone no longer than five minutes, and he was already losing his mind with worry. Was he getting enough to eat?
Was Light getting them into trouble?
Were the underlings obeying their master and keeping them all safe?
Bill knew this was exactly why most demons refused to bond with another demon. Sure there was infinite power involved, but there was also feelings, and emotions that most demons were glad to be rid of! The dream demon shook his head these feelings were starting to bubble up to the surface, and he didn't like it!
No he didn't like it one bit!
And he need to do something that made him feel like his old self again before it drove him mad. Of course the solution to his problem revealed itself as Shooting Star entered the throne room to get the rest of her yarn.
"Shooting Star there you are!" Bill said with a wicked smile.
Mabel knew she was in trouble the moment she heard her name. "You needed something Bill?" she asked.
"No but you need to do something." Bill said.
"Really like what?" Mabel asked, still unsure of where this was going. "You need to prove your loyalty, just as Pine Tree did." Bill said.
Mabel shivered. "How?"
"Let's see…" Bill said thoughtfully. "I know why don't you host the first Gladiator games?"
Mable's blood turned cold, but she forced herself not to blow her cover, and place the yarn back down on the floor. "Just tell me what I need to do."
Bill chuckled he could see the slight distaste behind her cold stare, but the idea that she hated it only made it all the more entertaining.
Mabel gulped this was bad, this was really, really bad!
(Wendy's Point of View)
She knew they would come for her eventually…
But she refused to shake in fear as the large spiders came for her, this was it; the moment to do or die. The moment to survive or parish.
Wendy got to her steady feet as the door to her cell opened leading out towards the arena. The spiders hissed at her, but other wised did nothing. Wendy could only guess that they were there to force her to get out of her cell, but they wouldn't need to.
Wendy stepped out of her cell with her head held high. Several of the "Marked Ones" booed, and threw food at her from the stadiums. She simply ignored them, even as rotten tomatoes stained her clothes.
"Ladies and gentleman boys and girls…"
Wendy looked up to see something she hadn't expected.
Mabel was standing by Cipher's throne with a microphone hosting the event!
"Welcome one and all to the first of the weekly Gladiator games!" Mabel's voice echoed around her. It's just as cheerful as it always had been, which makes Wendy feel sick.
'What have you done to them?!' Wendy's eyes narrowed at Bill who sat on his throne; looking like four year old watching his first fireworks show. 'First Dipper and now Mabel! You did something to them I just know it!' Tears threatened to spill from her eyes, but she held them in. 'You will pay Cipher.' She vowed. 'One of these days you will pay.'
"Now for today's special event, we have a special treat!" Mabel continued saying the words that Bill was projecting into her mind. She hated this, but she supposed she should have seen this coming. Bill forced Dipper to prove himself in front of everyone, and now he was don't the same to her. "Today, the undesirable and unmarked Wendy Corduroy will take on the dreaded, and deadly Hog Beast!"
Wendy watched in disbelief as a large hog like humanoid stepped into the arena. Did they really expect her to fight this beast?
She looked to Mabel hopefully…
Mabel avoided her gaze fearing she would crumble under the pressure. "We all know the rules." she said, "The first one to kill their opponent wins. And after the unmarked wins seven games they will earn their freedom, of course there is a catch…"
Wendy watched as one ax was thrown into the arena. One weapon! That's all they get?!
Wendy tensed, she knew she had to get the ax first, or she was done for! "On my mark!" Mabel exclaimed. "Get set….And…FIGHT!"
Wendy charged for the ax at the center of the arena like a herd of angry elephants. She was going to make it, she was going to survive; because she was going to see her family again.
The beast also charged for the weapon, even though he was big enough to kill her by simply crushing her with his big butt. The two met in the center and the Hog Beast threw up his forearms like an offensive lineman blocking defensive back from the goal, but Wendy dived into the dirt, and slide like a runner going for home base. She grabs the ax as she skids to a halt, and rolls as the beast tried to stomp her like a bug. In seconds she was on her feet ready to chop down the monster like an over grown tree.
The Hog Beast roared loudly, and charged.
Wendy stepped right and swung, slashing a large gash into her opponent; it does little to slow it down. The beast simply shakes the blow off, and comes back like an angry bull seeing nothing; but red! The crowd around her screams for her death, but Wendy continues to fight, dodging to the left this time and cutting the ax into the Hog's face.
The hog squeals, blinded by blood, and pain, but it still manages to lash out, hitting her in the stomach; causing her to fly across the arena.
Wendy drops the ax, and hits the hard stone wall. She grunts, and absorbed the trauma, swallowing the pain, forcing herself back to her feet. After all her pain was just an illusory sensation that her mind could shut down if it needed to, 'Put it aside.' she told himself as she sprints in a somewhat limping manner towards the ax. The crowd is at an uproar now, screaming for her blood, but the beast is still moving around blindly.
Wendy reaches the ax, snatching it up with the force of a thousand men, she than stalks the monster from behind slowly. It stumbles backwards, and she uses her leg to trip it! The beast falls, and with one more swing of the ax to the monster's head she finishes the job!
"And ladies and gentleman there you have it the unmarked wins by a land slide!" Mabel exclaims obviously relieved.
Wendy stood tall as the crowd booed her, she would continue to survive; and they would continue to boo! And she was fine with that. She smiled cruel and bowed in a mocking manner towards Bill's throne.
Bill clapped happily at the gesture, sure he'd rather have her dead; but he had to admit the girl had talent. "Not bad Red." He admitted out loud. "You've earned yourself a warm meal and another day of breathing."
Wendy's stomach growled hungrily at the sound of that, heck she couldn't even remember the last time she ate. She watched for moment as the crowd began to dissipate around her, before she walked back to her cell; dropping her ax on the ground. She didn't need it after all, no she'd just get another weapon for the next game, and she'd win that one too!
And she'd keep winning the games until she won all seven, and then she would leave this hell hole for the only thing she had left to live for;
Her family!
Mabel watched Wendy retreat to her cell, as a scent of betrayal hung in the air. She was happy she was alive, but at the same time she feared for the lives of everyone else in those cells. Grenda could hold her own in a fight, but candy couldn't, and the only kind of fighting Pacifica ever saw were those that took place in the mall. And Ollie, Ben, and Timmy were so young, and-
"Not bad Shooting Star, I think you just found your permanent role in the games." Bill laughed. Mabel knew he was waiting for her to blow her cover, it was clear he only wanted her around because Dipper did. No Bill would rather have her out of the way completely, but she wasn't about to make it easy for him. "Actually I thought it was really fun, exciting really. I'd love to host the next one."
She was lying threw her teeth, and Bill knew it, but the pain in her eyes was good enough for him. Bill chuckled it wasn't the human blood shed he wanted, but it Shooting Star was right it was exciting. In fact it was so exciting he couldn't wait for next week's match.
Mabel on the other hand had seen quiet enough, and as she and Bill headed back towards the castle she whispered a slight pray.
"Dipper I don't know what you're doing, and I don't care." She admitted. "Just please hurry…"
