PLANET OF KATS
Introduction - Crossover of SWAT Kats and Star Trek - the Animated Series. Captain James T. Kirk and the crew of the Starship Enterprise discover the planet Aristal, home of Megakat City. Razor falls for an alien she kat, but then Dark Kat allies with some Klingons to take over the world. Can Kirk and the SWAT Kats stop them?
It was another alien spacecraft, to the astonishment of the scientists at MASA headquarters. It had been just a year since the planet Aristal was invaded by water stealing space pirates, so Dr. Leiter Greenbox immediately made an emergency call to the Enforcers. When he was told that Commander Feral was meeting with Mayor Manx, he made a second call to city hall. After the incident with the robot Zed, Greenbox was sent to Alkatraz prison for the rest of his nine lives. But he was released on parole after it had been determined that the doctor had not been in his right mind when he joined with his creation. To make up for his terrible mistake of creating Zed, Greenbox joined MASA. With assistance from the SWAT Kat Razor, he built an orbital satellite to keep a lookout for more alien invaders. The device certainly worked, it detected the alien ship as soon as it entered the solar system. The craft was now orbiting the planet at a very high altitude... as it did, the satellite was sending a live image of the ship directly to MASA, where the scientists could view it on a large screen. Keeping his eyes on it, Greenbox waited for the Commander to reply to his call. Moments later, he heard Feral growl, "What do you want, doctor?! You just took me away from a very important meeting! So if this is about your parole, I'm not revoking it!"
"No, Commander..", he sighed. " I fully intend to serve out my entire parole, just to prove to you that I'm a changed Kat. Why do you still think that I'm a danger to society, despite what the experts have told you? "
"Because you and that crazy robot nearly vaporized Megakat City!", Feral growled. " If it were up to me, you'd still be behind bars! Just tell me why you are calling! "
"Our world is in danger again Commander..", said Greenbox, after which he told Feral about the alien ship that was orbiting Aristal. His eyes going wide in disbelief, the Commander gasped, " Are you pulling my tail, doctor? "
"I wish I was, but we're all looking at it on the viewscreen right now. So please come to MASA at once, and bring the SWAT Kats with you.."
"Great, just what we need, more aliens..", Feral sighed. " Alright doctor, we'll be there as soon as possible.. "
Slamming down the phone in anger, the Commander left the receptionists desk, and took the elevator back upstairs to the mayor's office. Manx actually wanted to deputies the SWAT Kats, which of course Feral was totally against. But he was outnumbered by Manx and Deputy Mayor Calico Briggs, who smirked at the Commander when he came back into the room. Along with them was his niece Lieutenant Felina Feral, and the SWAT Kats themselves.
"Back so soon, Feral?", Callie asked. " What was that phone call about?"
"That was Dr. Greenbox at MASA, Miss Briggs..", he said. " He just informed me of something which is much more important right now than the mayor's ridiculous idea, so I'm afraid that we'll have to cancel our meeting.."
"It is not ridiculous, Commander!", Manx snapped. " I'm going to deputies the SWAT Kats, whether you like it or not! What could be more important than the safety of Megakat Citaaay?! "
"Yeah Feral, upset that you can't tell us to back off anymore?", grinned T-bone, who was loving every minute of this.
" I'll pretend that I didn't hear that, hot shot..", the Commander growled. "Greenbox just told me than an alien spacecraft is orbiting Aristal! I think that's more important, wouldn't you agree mayor?"
"What?!", Manx gasped in fright. " Oh no, not again! Those space pirates nearly destroyed the planet last year! Do something about this, Feral!"
"Mayor, the ship hasn't attacked yet, it's just orbiting the planet right now. Just in case it does attack, I'm putting my Enforcers on high alert. But for now, Dr. Greenbox wants me and the SWAT Kats to come to MASA and see the ship for ourselves.."
"Of course, I helped him build the satellite, I'm sure glad it worked..", nodded Razor.
" But didn't you guys tell me that the pirate leader was killed, and his mercenaries were taken into custody by those friendly alien kats?", asked Callie, looking with concern at the SWAT Kats.
"That's right Miss Briggs, the Aquians..", T-bone said. " But maybe those alien creeps escaped, and decided to come back to Aristal for revenge!"
"That's exactly what I was just thinking..", Felina nodded. " So what's the plan, we go back into space?"
"T-bone and I will, Lieutenant..", said Razor, which made the she kat frown at him. " Look, there's no reason for three of us being in danger. Besides, I've made some improvements to the speed of heat engines, but they haven't been tested yet.."
"Oh really, what sort of improvements?", asked Felina, who still had a frown on her face.
" Something that I've worked on for a year, ever since those pirates attacked Aristal. I want to launch the Turbokat even faster into orbit, so any would be invaders can't get close to our world. But there's still a possibility that the jet could explode on take off.."
"Please don't say that, I'm nervous as it is...", Callie sighed.
" We're always careful, you know that, Miss Briggs.. ", Razor said. " But let's get to MASA first, I want to see what we're dealing with.."
"I'm going too..", nodded the Deputy Mayor, as she closed up her briefcase. " Sorry mayor, but Feral is right, the meeting will have to wait.."
As everyone was leaving his office, Manx sighed, "Why do these things always happen to my citaaay, as well as Aristal?"
Meanwhile, the Captain of the alien ship was just about to make a taped recording, just as he did on all visits to other worlds. His name was James T. Kirk, and his ship was called the Enterprise..
"Captain's log - Star Date: 5739.6... While traveling through a previously unexplored sector of the galaxy, we've discovered a planetary system containing a class M world called Aristal. Surprisingly, it is inhabited by a race of intelligent felines, just like the planet Cait, home of my communications officer, Lieutenant M'ress. But unlike her people, these Kats, as they call themselves, have yet to develop warp space travel. Their technology is very similar to what Earth's was like in the latter part of the 20th century. Normally we wouldn't make contact with a pre warp species, but unfortunately the Kats already know that we're here. They've been tracking the Enterprise with an orbital satellite ever since we entered their system, so I've put the ship on yellow alert. We are now in standard orbit above Aristal, so I've decided that a small group of us will be beaming down to the planet to assure the Kats of our peaceful intentions.."
"Are you sure this is a good idea, Jim?", asked Dr. McCoy, as Kirk switched off the recorder. " What if the Kats have never met aliens before?"
"Then we'll be the first, Bones..", he nodded. " Which is why Lieutenant M'ress will be coming along with me, you and Mr. Spock to Aristal.. "
"I was hoping you'd say that Captain..", grinned the feline officer, as she turned around in her chair. " Let me guess, you think that once the Kats discover that I'm part of this crew, they'll trust us more?"
"Precisely, lieutenant..", Kirk nodded. " They may even be related to your people, for all we know.."
"I don't think so, sir..", M'ress replied, shaking her head. " No Caition ship has ever been to this part of the galaxy before. But I'm still very curious about the Kats, so I would be honored to join you on the mission.."
"Alright, then we'll depart at once..", Kirk said, standing up from his chair. " Mr. Sulu, you have the con, I'll call the ship once we've made contact with the Kats.. "
Taking the lift down to the transporter room, Kirk, Spock, McCoy and M'ress stepped onto the platform as Mr. Scott operated the controls.
"Captain, I've found the building where they're tracking the Enterprise from..", the chief engineer said." It's located right outside the planet's main city, so I'll beam all of ya right inside it.."
"I believe it is called Megakat City, Mr. Scott..", Spock said.
" Whatever, I just hope this building isn't some sort of interrogation facility! ", grumbled McCoy.
" Always the optimist, aren't we Bones?", smiled Kirk. "Very good Scotty, then energize.."
"Holy Kats, will ya look at the size of that thing!", T-bone gasped, as he pointed at the viewscreen. Everyone had gathered inside MASA, and were staring in awe at the giant alien spacecraft that was orbiting Aristal. So far at least, there was still no indication that it was going to attack the planet.
" Yes, it's nearly twice the size of the pirate vessel that invaded us last year, that's why I asked you to come here so quickly, SWAT Kats.. ", Greenbox said.
" Actually doc, it didn't belong to them..", Razor said. "Mutilor and his pirate goons stole the ship from the Aquians and made them prisoners. But it looks like we're dealing with completely different aliens this time, that doesn't look anything like Captain Greymalkin's vessel.."
"Captain Greymalkin?", Callie asked.
" That's right Miss Briggs, you never met him..", T-bone nodded. "He's the leader of the Aquians, he and his officers helped us to defeat the pirates, and then returned the water back to Aristal.."
"They sort of helped us buddy..", Razor sighed. " As you recall, the Aquians were not very good at fighting.. "
"You got that right.. but as far as this ship goes, I don't think any of your missiles could put even a dent in it!"
"Fighting the aliens is a very last resort, T-bone.. once we're in orbit, I'm hoping that we can talk to them first and see why they're here.."
"Good luck with that..", Felina shrugged. " Are you sure you don't want me to come with you?"
"Sorry lieutenant, but me and Razor have to do this by ourselves! ", T-bone exclaimed. " Let's hit it, sure shot!"
"Hold on guys!", Callie gasped, raising her paw, " What's that strange whining noise?"
"Hmmm, I hear it too..", winced Feral, " Doctor, is one your machines running, please turn it off.."
"No, I don't know where that's coming from, I... OH MY KATS ALIVE!"
At that moment, four alien figures began to materialize directly in front of Dr. Greenbox and the other stunned Kats. They had seen many strange things before, such as dinosaurs, giant mummies, and four armed space pirates, but this was even more incredible to behold. Raising his glovatrix, T-bone exclaimed, "Holy Kats, it looks like the aliens decided to come here first! Quickly Miss Briggs, get behind me, just to be safe!"
"No, I want to get a good look at whatever these things are!" she replied, holding firmly onto his arm.
"Just incredible, matter transportation!" , Greenbox exclaimed in utter astonishment, as the figures solidified in a matter of seconds. "I've theorized about such a thing before, but I never thought that it was actually possible!"
"But of course it is..", said one of the aliens, who had triangular shaped ears, but that was the only thing similar to him and a Kat, " You've just witnessed it with your own eyes, so why do you doubt your own senses? Logic dictates that.."
"Will you shut up Spock, do you want to get shot?!", gasped the second alien, who raised his arms as Commander Feral and his niece pointed their guns at the visitors." Dammit Jim, I knew it was a mistake to come to this planet!"
"Bones, will you please relax, I'll handle this..", said the third alien, who then looked directly at Feral. " Sorry, we didn't mean to startle you Kats like that, it wasn't our intention. Allow me to introduce myself, my name is James T. Kirk, I'm Captain of the Starship Enterprise.. "
Pointing at each of his companions, he said, "This is my first officer Mr. Spock, my chief medical officer Dr. Leonard McCoy, and my communications officer, Lieutenant M'ress. Please don't be afraid, we've come to Aristal in peace.."
"Lieutenant?!", Razor gasped, because the fourth alien was a she kat! She had orange fur, reddish brown hair, and a long tail that ended in a red tuft. She was wearing a uniform that ended right below her waist, meaning that her long slender legs were in full view of the stunned SWAT Kat.
" That's right, it's a pleasure to meet you..", she smiled. "Please believe the Captain, we mean you no harm.."
Pointing at T-bone, M'ress said, "So you can put down that pea shooter, big fellow.."
"For your information lady, it's called a glovatrix!", he growled.
" Now buddy, just take it easy..", Razor sighed, putting a paw on his friend's arm. "I think these really are friendly aliens for once, I'm not getting any bad vibes from them at all.."
"Huh..", T-bone muttered, glancing the visitors over, " Now that you mention it, neither am I, even though they look weird.. "
"Well thanks a lot..", said Dr. McCoy. " But I have been called worse things before.. "
"Vibes?", Spock inquired, raising an eyebrow.
" I think they mean that the Kats have a sixth sense..", Kirk said. "They can tell if someone is trustworthy or not simply by a feeling that they get, I've seen such abilities in other alien races before. So my suggestion is to not get them mad, whatever you do.."
"You don't have to tell me twice, Jim..", gulped Dr. McCoy, as he stared at T-bone's long fangs and sharp claws.
" Don't worry buddy, you're safe!" the SWAT Kat smiled. "And we only get mad when aliens attack Aristal, which is exactly what happened last year.."
"Your world was invaded?!", Kirk exclaimed in surprise. " By who?"
"Space pirates..", Felina said, as she put her gun back into it's holster, which made Dr. McCoy breathe a sigh of relief. " So forgive us for the unfriendly welcome Captain, we thought they had come back, they nearly destroyed Aristal.. "
"How exactly did they try to destroy your planet?", he asked.
" By stealing all of our water, but we were fortunate enough to stop them.. ", Razor said. " But it's a long story Captain, maybe we can tell it to you later.."
"Yes, much later..", Feral growled. " Just tell us what you're doing here Captain, I've had my Enforcers on high alert ever since your ship arrived.."
"Why certainly, we're explorers..", Kirk nodded. " Our mission is to discover new worlds and make contact with alien civilizations. So when we discovered your system, we decided to investigate. That's when you started to track the Enterprise with your satellite, so once we were in standard orbit, I decided that a group of us should beam down here and meet you Kats in person.."
Pointing at the viewscreen, he said, "But if you don't want us on your planet, then we'll return to the ship and leave your system immediately.."
"Captain, do we have to leave so soon?", sighed M'ress, sounding very disappointed. " I'm curious about their culture, it's not every day that I get to meet another feline race that's similar to my own.."
" You heard them lieutenant, Aristal was attacked! ", Kirk exclaimed. " So if they want us to leave, we should leave at once!"
"That's alright Captain, you don't have to go..", said Razor, as he smiled at M'ress, making her blush under her fur. " As far as I'm concerned, you can stay on our world for as long as you want.."
"Now just hold on, hot shot!", Feral snarled. " You don't speak for the rest of us!"
"Oh be quiet, Commander!", Callie snapped, crossing her arms in annoyance at him. " From what I've seen and heard so far, it's obvious to me that we can trust the Captain and his officers! "
Looking at Kirk, she said, "I'm Calico Briggs, Deputy Mayor of Megakat City, I welcome you to Aristal. Captain, would you like to visit city hall and meet Mayor Manx? I want to assure him that you're friendly aliens, and that the planet isn't being invaded this time.."
"But of course Deputy Mayor, we would be honored..", Kirk replied, smiling at the very attractive blonde haired she kat. " But I'm just curious about something.. "
Looking at the two colorful Kats in front of him, he said, "If you don't mind me asking, why are you wearing masks?"
"I was just wondering the same thing sir..", grinned M'ress, who thought the auburn kat was very handsome, even more so than any male Caition.
" We're the SWAT Kats.. ", he said. " My code name is Razor, and my partner's is T-bone. We protect Megakat City and Aristal from anything that would threaten them. We wear masks to keep our real identities hidden from the criminals.. "
"Are you part of the planet's military?", questioned Spock, which made Feral growl under his breath.
" Nah, that's the Enforcers.. ", said T-bone, pointing at the Commander and his niece. " Up until now we've been vigilantes, but Mayor Manx has just decided to deputies us, which means we'll be official.. "
"Vigilantes?", Kirk asked. " But isn't that illegal, I mean to take the law into your own hands, or should I say paws in your case?"
"Yes Captain, it most certainly is!", grinned Feral. " I'm Commander Ulysses Feral, Chief Enforcer. It's nice to meet someone who thinks like I do, even if you're a furless alien. By the way, this is my niece, Lieutenant Felina Feral.. "
"I can speak for myself, uncle..", she sighed.
" Actually Commander, I'm a human.. ", Kirk said. " As is Dr. McCoy, we're from a world called Earth. Mr. Spock is from Vulcan, and Lieutenant M'ress is from a planet called Cait. But whatever problems or disagreements that you Kats may have with each other, they're really none of our concern. Once we observe your society for a time, we're beaming back to the Enterprise to continue exploring the rest of the galaxy.. "
"Of course Captain, you and your officers can stay on Aristal for as long as you want..", nodded Feral, which made Callie roll her eyes at him.
" The SWAT Kats have saved Megakat City and Aristal numerous times, that's why the Mayor has decided to deputies them.. ", she said. " That reminds me Commander, we can finish our meeting now. All that remains is for Razor and T-bone to receive their official badges, so I don't want to hear anymore complaints from you. Captain, there's going to be an official ceremony tonight in front of city hall. You can observe it if you want, and I also want to introduce you to the citizens of Megakat City.."
"Oh very well..", sighed Kirk, who really didn't want to get involved in the planet's affairs. " But first I'd like to contact the Enterprise, and inform them of our status.."
"By all means Captain, go right ahead!", exclaimed Greenbox, who could no longer control his emotions. Offering his paw to Kirk, who shook it, he said, " I'm Dr. Leiter Greenbox, head scientist here at MASA, your ship is absolutely magnificent! I would just love to see the inside of it!"
"Why thank you doctor, we do have our own rules as to who can board the ship, but maybe I can give you a tour someday..", Kirk smiled, as he opened up his communicator. " Enterprise, this is the Captain, come in please.."
"Scott here!", came the reply, as the Kats listened. " Are ya alright, sir?"
"Couldn't be better Scotty, we've made contact with the Kats, and are speaking with them now. But I hear some concern in your voice, is there something wrong?"
"Aye Captain..", the chief engineer sighed. " Ship's scanners have just detected the ion trail of a cloaked Klingon battle cruiser. It must have arrived in this system right before we did, I was just about to call and warn you, sir.."
"Damn it!", growled Kirk, as the Kats looked at him in confusion. " So much for our friendly visit to Aristal... alright Scotty, that means there's probably Klingons on the planet as well, so we've got some searching to do. Just keep on the lookout for that battle cruiser!"
"Will do Captain, I'll find those beasties, or my name isn't Montgomery Scott!"
"Very good Scotty, keep me informed, Kirk out.."
"Klingons?!", " Razor exclaimed, as the Captain closed his communicator. "What the crud are Klingons?"
"They're the scourge of the galaxy..", M'ress snarled, baring her fangs. " The Federation and Klingon Empire have been at odds with each other for many years, just our luck that they would show up now!"
"Federation?", Felina asked.
" The United Federation of Planets, all of our worlds are part of it..", Spock said.
"You mean you're at war with them?!", Callie gasped.
" Not officially, Deputy Mayor.. ", Kirk said. " You see, the Klingons have their own area of space, as do we. In between is a region called the neutral zone. If one of their ships were to cross it into our space, or vice versa, a conflict could start. Nobody really wants a full scale galactic war, so we try to stay away from each other. But the Klingons have a tendency to try to influence other worlds against the Federation.. "
"In other words, they hate you..", Feral said. " But I don't understand Captain, I only see your ship.."
As the Commander pointed at the screen, Kirk said, "The Klingons have the ability to cloak their battle cruiser, or make it invisible to your satellite. Only a starship like the Enterprise can locate the enemy vessel by following the ion trail of it's warp engines, which is what my chief engineer is doing right now. So let's go see this mayor of yours, I want to warn him of the threat that the Klingons pose to Aristal.."
"You and your officers had better come with me in my car, Captain..", Callie said. " If you beam directly into Manx' office, he'll just scream and pass out.."
"I take it he's the nervous type?", Kirk asked.
" He's a scaredy kat, Captain.. ", Feral growled.
" Captain, we can help you!", Razor exclaimed. "T-bone and I can search for these Klingons in the Turbokat, I'll use my three dimensional radar!"
"The Turbokat, what's that?", he asked.
" Our pride and joy..", T-bone grinned. "Come outside Captain, and we'll show her to you.."
"Alright, then lead the way..", Kirk nodded. He and his officers then followed the SWAT Kats out of the building, with the others in tow. And when the Captain saw the sleek red and black fighter jet that was parked next to Callie's car, he immediately whistled out loud. Walking over to the Turbokat, Kirk put his hand on the wing, and exclaimed, " Would you look at that Spock, it's an F-18!"
"Correct, Captain..", the Vulcan nodded. " They were used on Earth primarily in the late 20th and early 21st centuries.."
"What a beautiful piece of machinery..", Kirk said, smiling at the SWAT Kats. " My great great grandfather flew one of these jets in the Air Force on old Earth, I have a picture of it on the wall in my quarters. He inspired me to join Starfleet Academy, and eventually become Captain of my own ship.."
"Glad you like her cap, the Turbokat is our baby, we wouldn't know what to do without her..", T-bone grinned.
" I feel the same way about the Enterprise, she's never let me down..", he said. "Say wait just a second, are those what I think they are?"
Pointing at the back of the jet, specifically at Razor's specialty engines, Kirk asked, " Which one of you SWAT Kats designed and built those?"
"You mean my speed of heat engines, Captain?", Razor replied. " Well I designed them of course, and T-bone helped me build them, took us a year, in fact. But they haven't been tested yet, I'm worried that the jet might explode on take off.."
"I told you not to say that!", Callie gasped.
" Sorry Miss Briggs, force of habit..", he sighed.
"Don't worry, it won't..", smiled Kirk. " Am I right, Spock? "
"Yes, Captain..", nodded the Vulcan, as he looked closely at the engines. " They may be a bit crude compared to our engines, but they will function properly.. "
"What do ya mean crude?!", Razor snarled. " It took us a whole year to design and build those engines!"
"And you did a very good job..", nodded Dr. McCoy, who then glared at Spock. " So don't listen to what this walking computer says!"
"I was merely stating a fact..", he said. " Razor's speed of heat engines are not as advanced as the Enterprises' warp engines, but they will still launch the Turbokat at a speed of at least warp three, if not higher.."
"Warp?", questioned the SWAT Kat, unfamiliar with the term.
" We use our warp engines to go faster than the speed of light, top speed is warp seven..", purred M'ress, as she stepped closer to Razor. "So let me be the first to congratulate you, you're the first Kat to develop warp drive. You're not just very handsome, but also extremely intelligent.."
The SWAT Kat stood there stunned as M'ress put her soft arms around him and gently kissed the side of his muzzle. Unable to control himself any longer, Razor put his own arms around M'ress, and kissed her passionately, making her purr in delight. Immediately, a tingling sensation began to flow through her body, which meant one one thing.. this kat was her lifemate. The Lieutenant never had time to find a mate on her home planet, she had joined Starfleet Academy to study becoming a communications officer. How fortunate she was on finally finding a partner, albeit on another world..
"Awww, how sweet..", Callie smiled.
" Well Jim, that's certainly a good way to start planetary relations!", McCoy grinned.
"Indeed it is, Bones..", Kirk nodded.
" So illogical... ", Spock sighed, shaking his head at the sight.
" Excuse me?!", Callie gasped, staring wide eyed at the pointy eared alien. "So what's so illogical about love? It looks like Razor has found his lifemate, it happens to all Kats eventually!"
"Don't pay him any attention, Deputy Mayor..", McCoy sighed. " Spock's people, the Vulcans, have spent their entire lives purging all emotions out of their society, including love!"
"As I have stated to you numerous times before doctor, you are incorrect..", he said. " We Vulcans do have emotions, but we have learned to control them with logic.."
"That doesn't sound very fun..", Callie shrugged. " Then how do you guys find female mates?"
"You don't want to know, Deputy Mayor..", Kirk said, before Spock could answer her. " So let's go see the mayor, I want to speak with him immediately.. "
"Captain, I'll go with Razor in the Turbokat..", mewed M'ress, who still had her arms around the SWAT Kat. " I've never flown in a jet before.. "
"Sure thing beautiful, think you can handle three gs?", he grinned.
" Listen handsome, I've flown halfway across the galaxy in a starship, so I think I can handle your jet..", she whispered, licking his ear, which made Razor shiver from head to toe.
"Then we'll see you at city hall, lieutenant..", said Kirk, who wished he could be so lucky with the Deputy Mayor, who had beautiful hazel green eyes. But now was certainly not the time to use his charms on her, they had to find those Klingons..
