Inside the store, while the shopkeeper sweeps the area, and while old music was playing on the radio, Mordecai and Viktor were playing chess.
The position they had looked to be equal as Viktor took Mordecai's bishop with his queen. Mordecai was about to ponder about his next move, until he saw what went wrong with Viktor's move. The fact that he even took his bishop with a queen that can be taken back with either of his left or right pawn.
''Wait. What is that?'' Mordecai said, pointing at Viktor's queen with his hands. ''What are you doing?'' Viktor widened his eyes, not expecting Mordecai's reaction.
''I took your bishop.''
''I mean your strategy,'' Mordecai said, as if baffled. ''What strategy are you playing? The Pelagatti Attack? Some half-cocked variation of the Dizzy Whippet Defense?'' Mordecai raised his eyebrow at Viktor, who glared at him. ''…Checkers?''
''Viktor. Takes. Your. Bishop.''
''Where'd you learn to play? In a cave?'' Viktor's blood boiled as he leaned forward in the table. The shopkeeper looked at them with fear. His tail shook as he had cold sweats in his forehead. Does this cat knew better than to piss Viktor off?
''In a trench.''
''Right. In the dirt. That explains every-'' Before Mordecai could finish, Viktor punched him in the face so hard that he fell back on his chair unconscious. Viktor crossed his arms then looked at the shopkeeper, who froze. Viktor growled at him, and the shopkeeper ran away, hoping to survive the encounter.
