A My Cousin Vinny Reunion

Wednesday October 25, 1995

It has been over 4 years since the Gambini Rothenstein Trail that rocked Beechum County Alabama. In the end Vincent Laguardi Gambini had prove his cousin William Robert Gambini and his friendly Stanley Rothenstein innocent and District Attorney James Trotter III dropped the charges. Trotter, Judge Chamberlain Haller, and Sheriff Bruce Farley all gave their congrats to Vinny and their apologies to Bill and Stan.

Since that day there have been some changes, Bill and Stan had finished college and Bill was in law school at Emory, Vinny had become a very successful attorney in NYC, and Mrs. Monalisa Gambini, James Trotter III, and Bruce Farley had all gotten jobs with the United States Government. For 2 of them the jobs were in Atlanta, Georgia.

It was a nice and cool fall late afternoon, Jim Trotter III saw a familiar name in an article in the AJC, so he picked up the phone, dialed a number, a familiar voice answered the phone "hello?"

"Well Hello Bill, I hope you are appreciating the James Trotter III scholarship to Emory Law School!

Bill Gambini was flabbergasted "Mr. Trotter! I recognized your name on the scholarship, but I..I must be honest, I never expected to hear your voice again!"

"Well I saw your name in the Atlanta Journey Constitution and thought I would call and say hello, as well as extend an invitation!"

Bill responded "I very rarely turn down an invitation, what is the invitation?"

"Well Bill I just hope you like amusement parks as much as me and my wife and daughters, this upcoming Friday is Government night at Six Flags Over Georgia! Come with me and you will not have to pay for anything!"

"Well shucks Mr. Trotter..." before he could finish Trotter interrupted "call me Jim!" "well okay Jim, I grew up going to Coney Island as well as Six Flags Great Adventure, and I hear that SFOG, just like Coney Island, has a Cyclone Roller Coaster. But is it okay if I invite My Cousin Vinny and Cousin in Law Lisa? it just so happens that they will be in town tomorrow to visit me.

"Trotter laughed with Joy, but of course! we will all go together!"

Bill responded "awesome! and BTW, Vinny just recently won a very big case! Can you pick meet us over at Springdale Park on Ponce De Leon Avenue at 4pm Friday?"

Trotter responded, "we'll be there!"

Friday October 27, 1995

As promised Bill was waiting at Springdale Park for Trotter. His cell phone rang and Trotter said he was pulling up in a shiny 1996 Silver Bronco. When he did he parked the truck and stepped out to shake Bill's hand. "Greetings Bill, Jim Trotter III United States Attorney Northern District of Georgia!"

Bill's eyes widened "WOW! I'd say you got a promotion!"

"Well Bill, as I once told your cousin, I am a happier man putting the guilty man in Jail, and a few years back the President offered me this position, and I could not pass it up.

Another familiar voice came up behind Bill to say hello. "Hello Bill!"

Bill turned around and his eyes widened "OMG Sheriff Farley!" as he extended his hand for a shake and a tight squeeze.

"Please Bill, call me Bruce, and it's NOT Sheriff Farley anymore, it's Warden Farley now."

Bill responded "do you mean that you are not head of the prison where they sent Stan and myself?"

Farley responded, "No. It's a much bigger and more historic penitentiary than that! One that they first opened in January of 1902, and was one of only 3 main federal correctional facilities in the early 20th century. I am head of what has been called throughout the years as the A!"

Bill seemed a little confused at first, "The A?"

Farley responded with "well that's what many have called the United States Penitentiary here in Atlanta Georgia."

Now Bill had a greater understanding "oh yes! of course! I do believe that's where they sent many of the east coast crime bosses over the years including Carlo Ponzi and Al Capone!"

Farley responded "Very Good Bill! Did you know that they brought Capone in by train? and that one of the inmates once ran for President from the inside?

Bill being a lover of history and a history and political science major at UCLA was once again flabbergasted, "Wow Bruce, I sure wish I could go in there and see all that history!"

Farley responded "Well Bill, as much as I would LOVE to take you in and show you around, I'd lose my job."

Bill's attention was then drawn to the shiny approaching sports car. Meanwhile Trotter was telling Farley that he had heard that Vinny had recently won a very big case in court. Farley's attention, like Bill's, was drawn to the sports car, "oh yes Jim, I would say that he most certainly DID!"

By this moment all were focused on the shiny silver 1995 Lamborghini Diablo Convertible with Vincent LaGuardia Gambini in the driver's seat and Agent Monalisa Gambini of the FBI Automotive Crimes Division in the passenger seat. Baby Gambini was home with the grandparents.

Vinny stepped out of the car, hugged Bill, and shook hands with Trotter and Farley. Farley and Trotter were both admiring the car when Vinny said "It's been a while guys, great to see you again." Farley's first words were "Fine job Mr. Gambini, you seem to have become a very successful attorney, and I remember telling you that you could come back and visit us anytime, and I see you that you have. And I also see that you once again have a very fine automobile!"

Vinny responded "Thank you very much Warden Farley, this here is a brand new silver 1995 Lamborghini Diablo Convertible, it has a 5 speed manual V12 engine!"

The look on Trotter's face was a look of impression as well as a big smile, he responded to Gambini's last remark with "Is this thing tubo charged?"

Vinny responded with "Of course, all Italian engines are?"

Trotter laughed, "now I assume that you and Lisa and Bill are ready to go to government night at Six Flags?"

Everyone responded with "Lets do it!"

Trotter was driving his wife Connie and daughters Lane and Rebecca in the Bronco.

Warden Farley was driving his wife Brenda and his son Joel and daughter Michelle in their white 1995 Ford Explorer Limited. He rounded up his son from the park by saying "Okay Joel Let's Roll!"
