Chapter 1

January, 2022

Intelligent, handsome, hard-working, confident, multibillionaire and let's not forget single. This is how most people would describe Logan Huntzburger. This is not how he would describe himself. His description would be LONELY.

He stood looking out the floor to ceiling window in his office. His office. London, England. When he looked to the right, he could see the corner of the building that held Big Ben, in the far distance straight ahead he could see the London Eye.

He knew people that would kill for this view, but today, Logan would rather be anywhere else. He would rather be where his mind was. His mind. His thoughts. His thoughts were in Hartford Connecticut. That is where his mind has been for five years. Don't get me wrong, Logan was a production member of society. He works too much, drinks a little too much, but he was an attentive husband to his wife. Well in public. That's not to say he was abusive or negligent when not in public, they liked each other. One might even say they loved each other. But no one would say they are in love with each other.

He and Odette married on November 5, 2016. Ironically the same day Luke and Lorelai Danes' official wedding day. He and Odette loved each other, but not like a husband should love a wife. It was mutual. When they got married, along with the prenup their families had them sign, they also had their personal lawyers draw up a contract mapping out the next five years.

To the public, Logan and Odette are the perfect couple, both intelligent, well mannered, confident and Manor born. Yes, they are Trust Fund brats, if you can call a 40-year-old man or woman a brat. They have known each other since birth. Odette attended boarding school with Logan, Finn, Colin, and Stephanie.

Logan and Odette knew the plan. Their parents drilled it into their heads. They dated while in boarding school. Not exclusive. Both knew the plan for them. If they were not marriage by the age of 30 the two of them would have to marry. They have been able to push this off until 2017. Both sets of parents wanted grandchildren. So, being the dutiful children they were, they married. Kicking and screaming, but they married.

The agreement, or contract, Logan and Odette signed separately from the prenup, unbeknownst to their parents, was that after 4 years of marriage they would self-exam and decide where to go from there. The conclusion was divorce.

Today, Logan stood, looking out the window of his London office. This would be his last day of being a resident of London, he would return occasionally, he is the CEO of Huntzburger Publishing Group after all, but he moved his office to Hartford, Connecticut. He still had offices in London, New York, and Atlanta.

There is another contract Logan signed in 2017. Very few people knew about this contract, only his close friends and of course her close friends.

I am sure you are wondering how The Logan Huntzburger, Playboy of the East Coast, got to the point in his life where he would be divorced, lonely, standing, looking out the window of his London office.

Flashback/Prologue

After Honor arrived in Palo Alto, CA, She helped Logan sell the house with the avocado tree and find a condo to move in. She kicked his butt in gear. She was tired of him wallowing in self pity. Rory Gilmore turned him down. She would later find out that Rory didn't say no, she said not now.

After working for 6 months with the company that originally hired him, He took what was left of his trust fund and invested it in his own company, Ace-Ro'gan.

After 3 years, the company partnered with Instagram, selling several Ace-Ro'gan apps to them. When they finally sold the company, his net worth was ½ billion, give or take. He traveled, writing here and there for Huntzburger Publishing Group.

Logan and Honor along with their cousins, have shares and receive dividend checks quarterly from HPG. Each child was given shares at the birth and every birthday since.. This allowed Logan to have voting rights. He gave Mitchum his proxies while he was in Palo Alto.

During his time in Palo Alto, Mitchum and Logan came to an agreement. Logan would eventually come back to HPG to run the company and be the chairman of the board and Mitchum would do all he could to postpone the contract of marriage to Odette.

Logan was taking one last trip before returning to London to start his raise to CEO and his relationship with Odette. He was in Youngs Township, Pennsylvania, near Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. He was covering the Punxsutawney Phil, for one of the smaller papers he sometimes freelanced for. He wanted his last assignment before he returned to HPG to be something to remember.

He attended all the functions surrounding Groundhog day. He was having a ball. He was leaving one of the many pubs he visited when he spotted her on the bus passing by. He did a double take, but didn't see her. He hadn't thought about her as much since he agreed to come back to HPG, maybe he was seeing things.

When he got back to his hotel, he called Colin. "Hey man, what's going on?" Logan asked when Colin answered the phone.

"Nothing much. Same ole same ole." Colin said. "How about you?"

"Just covering Punxsutawney Phil." Logan told him.

"Finn told me you were doing that. He even tried to get me to come with y'all." Colin said.

"You should have. I lost Finn the first day. I haven't seen him since. He sends me text and pictures so I know he is still here somewhere." Logan told him laughing.

They talked for a few more minutes before Logan said. "Man, I need you to check on something for me."

"Sure," Colin said.

"See if you can find out where Ace is and what she has been up to." Logan said.

Before he could finish, Colin broke in "Do you really want to do this to yourself? You just agreed to come back to HPG and marry Odette."

"I know, Man." Logan said. "Just see if you can find her for me."

The next day, Logan was sitting in a coffee shop, filling out the many online forms needed for a smooth transition to HPG, when he saw her again. This time she walked into the coffee shop with a couple of ladies. They were laughing and talking. It was cold and they were bundled up in their winter clothes.

He spotted her before she entered, but the minute she stepped in the door, she knew he was there. The hairs on the back of her neck stood up. She scanned the room until she saw him.

"Logan," She said as she approached his table. He stood up to kiss her on the cheek. She introduced him to her friends. He invited them to sit, she agreed, but the girls went ahead to their table

They talked for a little while until she had to go be with her friends. They exchanged numbers. Logan looking back wondered if that had been the beginning of the end. He hoped not.

A couple of months later. Half a dozen texts, a couple of calls, and he was standing at Heathrow waiting for her to arrive. She was working with a member of Parliament on an autobiography with a side story on differences in Parliament and Congress. She and Logan agreed she would stay in his guest room while she was in London.
