Chapter 5 - Cont Flashback/Prologue

Logan and Odette had not left for London yet. Honor's son's birthday was on Thanksgiving this year. It was decided his birthday party would be the weekend after Thanksgiving, so Logan and Odette were staying in Honor and Josh's guest house until the party. Logan would be working from the Hartford office.

After Rory left Paris' office Monday, she called Finn. "Finn, Hey how are you? I see you survived Thanksgiving. Did you get to see your family?" They chit-chatted for a while, then she asked him to lunch at her house Wednesday. Of course he had questions, she just told him she needed his help with something. Finn agreed to lunch without too many more questions. Finn was always willing to help. Especially Rory.

Wednesday, November 2016 Hartford Ct. Gilmore Manor

Paris and Lane were already there. Lane brought burgers from Luke's. The three girls were talking when the doorbell rang.

Finn was excited to see Rory, "Love," He said, hugging her tight. "Something smells good." but when he entered the dining room and saw Paris and Lane, he got worried. He took a good look at Rory. Was she sick? He sat down weirdly. Lane passed him a burger and fries. Paris asked him what he wanted to drink.

"Gin and Tonic?" Finn asked. He had a feeling he was going to need it. Rory handed him a water bottle. She smiled at him.

After listening to the girls talk. Asking questions where necessary, Finn agreed to contact Logan to set up a meeting between him and Rory. Rory told him she would fly to him if needed.

When Finn contacted Logan, he didn't realize he was still in the States. After many questions Finn didn't answer, Logan agreed to meet with Rory. Friday morning.

Rory and Logan met at the Gilmore Manor. Finn picked him up at Honor's and dropped him off at Rory's. Finn didn't go in. He told Logan he would be back soon, to call him if he needed to leave before he got back.

Logan entered the Manor when she opened the door. "Ace, not that I don't want to see you, because I do, but I thought you wanted to stop….Well whatever we were doing." Logan told her.

She led him into the living room. Paris was sitting in the chair with her laptop in her lap. This put Logan's senses on sharp notice. "Ace?" he said.

She motioned for him to sit. Paris got up with her laptop. "I'll be in your office when you get ready for me."

"Rory?" Logan said. "What is going on?" He was about to stand back up, but she sat down beside him. She took his hand in hers. The contact causes Logan to take a deep breath.

"I have something to tell you, but I need you to hear me." She said, He nodded. "The night of my surprise party," she sighed. She had a smile on her face, so did he. "You left me a souvenir." She put her hand on her stomach.

Logan looked from her face, to her stomach. He stood up. Then he sat down. The smile on his face went from shock, to worry, then back to a smile.

"Before you say anything, I am fine and so is the baby." She told him. "I just found out Sunday, confirmed with Paris on Monday. Finn, Paris, Lane and now you are the only one that knows. Yes, I am keeping it." Logan still had not spoken. "Stay right here. Process what I have told you. I am going to get Paris." Logan had a confused look on his face. Rory was watching him closely. "We have a plan and want to run it by you." Logan nodded. She was sure he was in shock.

When she stood up, the doorbell rang. She opened the door, it was Finn. She told him she told Logan and he was sitting on the couch processing. Finn went to sit with him.

When she returned with Paris, the three of them explained what they had discussed. Logan didn't like the idea. He wanted to be a part of this baby's life, but when Rory explained to him her reasons, he reluctantly agreed.

"Logan, do you want to go home and talk with Odette? Find out how she feels about this." Rory told him.

"Or," Paris said. "Don't tell her, let her believe the sperm donor plan."

Rory rolled her eyes, "As I have told you, I don't want anything from you. I don't want my child to be called a scandal as I was. I will not have an abortion. I can tell everyone that my biological clock was ticking and I decided to use Paris' service to have a child." Rory signed.

"Logan, If you were to leave Odette, it would cause a scandal. I don't want that. I also don't want our child to be your dirty little secret. I don't want to worry about if his or her picture ends up in some magazine as your love child. I hate that I am asking you to sign your parental rights away, but I don't know any other way."

"I don't want you to be denied knowing your child. Please don't tell anyone else. Paris and Lane know, but I don't intend for anyone else to know. " Rory told him.

"How will you support this child? I know you are writing a book, but there is private school. College. I'm not saying I want a spoiled child, but I want my child, rather I have any contact or not, I want him to have the things he wants." Logan told her. "Let me set up an account. I can get Colin to handle it and it can go through him." Logan was standing now. Rory looked worried.

"Christopher has been after me for several years to accept the trust that was set up when I was born. He didn't discover this until his grandfather, my great-grandfather passed away." Rory told him.

"I talked with Christopher. I am meeting him Monday to sign the papers. With this trust and the one Trix set up for me, I wouldn't need child support. I will have enough for private school and college." She told him.

"Besides, Grandpa left me Gilmore International Insurance. I have let Dad handle it. He has a manager in place. I can start drawing a dividend check each quarter. It is going into an account right now. I haven't touched it. See, I will be okay, so will my child."

Logan grimaced at 'my child' "Okay," He told her. "I know your mother wouldn't let Emily buy you Chilton socks like everyone else had, I just don't want our child to suffer." Rory nodded.

"I am going to be this baby's uncle." Finn said proudly. "Maybe even his Godfather."

Rory and Logan both just looked at him. "If she needs anything I can't get, I will let you know." Finn told him. They all nodded.

"I'll act as Rory's lawyer, I am licensed to practice law in Connecticut and New York."

"Talk to Colin. Have him draw up the papers" Rory said.

"Email them to me." Paris said. Handing Logan a business card. "I will get with Rory when they come in. We will make any changes we think need to be made. The four of us will get together and sign them."

Logan nodded. "We are not leaving until Sunday night. That will not be enough time for Colin and Paris to get everything together." He said. He hesitated. "I'm not sure I can stay any longer without drawing suspension…."

"No, If need be, I will make a trip to you." She said, "I can always say I am tying up loose ends."

"Paris, will it be safe for her to travel?" Logan asked. "Ace, I don't want anything to happen to you or this baby. You have got to promise me you will contact me if you need anything. I mean anything."

"Logan," She said, "It's not going to work if I contact you."

"I'll be around." Finn said. "I will set up an email account and send you pictures from it. You will need to do the same." Finn looked at Logan, then Rory. They both nodded their heads.

Rory stood up, causing Paris and Finn to stand. "I guess that's it," Rory said.

"Yeah," Logan said., standing up.

"Logan, I need you to write up a profile. A description of sorts, heritage, medical problems in the family." Paris told him. He nodded.

Logan and Finn got to the door, Logan turned around. "Odette, Should I tell her?" He asked. "I don't like lying to her, she could help run interference, maybe give me a chance to at least see the baby."

Rory nodded.
