Cont Flashback/Prologue-This should be the last of the flashback.
Chapter 6 December 5, 2016
After much back and forth, between Paris and Colin they had an agreement.
All parties will sign an NDA. The fewer people that knew about this, the better it would be. Logan wanted to include Honor, so he would have someone on this side of the pond, but mostly because he needed her to know. Rory agreed as long as she could resist spending money on the child.
The irony of the situation was not lost on Rory or Logan. She has an appointment today to see Paris. She will be able to hear the heartbeat. She is 10 weeks today. They would be signing the paperwork today to relinquish his rights to the baby.
Rory was cleaning herself up after the ultrasound. "Paris, I am 10 weeks today. How long do you suggest I wait to start telling everyone?" Rory asked.
"I suggest your second trimester." Paris said as she looked at a calendar. "Huh, January 2 should start your second trimester, but I think it will be okay to tell at Christmas. You may get less questions asked. Rory agreed.
The two left together. They are meeting Logan at Colin's office. After talking with Odette, she agreed to cover for him. Finn went to London and flew Logan back on his jet. Logan told everyone that he and Odette were going to view some summer homes in Scotland.
December 22, 2016 Hayden Manor, Hartford Ct.
Rory entered the Manor. She was exchanging gifts with her dad, Jennifer and Gigi. They were having lunch, then she was flying to Nantucket to spend Christmas with Emily, Lorelai and Luke. She was hoping April would be there also. She works in Atlanta at the CDC.
"Rory," Jennifer said as she opened the door to her step-daughter. "Come in, Come in. It is cold out there."
Rory entered, shaking off the snow on her boots before stepping inside. She was wearing a loose Christmas sweater dress, although she didn't have a baby bump, she still wanted to wear something loose until she told everyone.
They enjoyed a nice lunch before opening presents. After the presents were opened, Jennifer was cleaning up the wrapping paper, Christopher and Gigi were trying to set up her new beats with her iphone, when Rory got their attention.
"Hey," Rory said. "I have another present for each of you." Each of them sat down. "I need y'all to open them at the same time. I will answer as many questions as I can after you open."
Christopher looked at her. He had a feeling, but wasn't sure what it meant. He knew his daughter pretty well. It took him several years to get to know her again, but he felt like he knew her. Gigi was excited because she loves getting gifts.
Rory handed the gift bags to each person, "Okay, Open!' She said, She was watching each one as they opened the present. They all pulled out tee-shirts.
"Oh, Rory," Jennifer said. "You shouldn't have, the tea service you gave me was plenty."
Chris pulled his shirt out of the bag. He had a confused look on his face until he heard Gigi squeal.
"Rory, really," I am going to be an Aunt?" Gigi asked. "When" She was already putting on her tee shirt over her sweater. It said, 'Aunt Gigi',
Chris and Jennifer both turned their shirts around. Grampa and Gramma was written on the front of their shirts. "You can choose different names if you want. I just always thought you would be called Grampa, cause Luke will be Grumpa." Rory said laughing. She was trying to judge their reaction.
Jennifer sat there smiling, she was not sure how she was supposed to react. She and Christopher have only been married for 5 years, she was just getting to know Rory. When Chris got his wits about him, he jumped up and hugged her. He congratulated her. "I'm going to get some champagne." He said and started toward the kitchen, only to turn back and hug Rory again.
Gigi had already started asking questions, 'When was she due? Where was she going to live? Could she babysit' "Calm down Gigi." Rory said, smiling. "Wait for Dad to get back so I only have to answer these questions once. Or at least once here."
"I assume you haven't told Lorelai yet?" Chirs asked as he popped the cork in the champagne. Handing Jennifer a glass.
"No," Rory said, shaking her head. "My next stop is Nantucket. Emily, Lorelai and Luke. Prayer will be appreciated." all laughed. The housekeeper followed Chris in with a glass of sparkling white grape juice for Rory and Gigi.
"To Rory!" Chris toasted, "And her baby" The all drank. Chris was smiling, but Rory could tell he was concerned. She could see it in his eyes.
"How do you want to do this? Do you want me to tell you about my pregnancy or would you rather ask questions?" She asked.
Jennifer spoke up first. "I think you should tell us what you want us to know, then we can ask questions." Rory looked around the room and nodded.
She took a deep breath and let it out. She could do this. She has been rehearsing this for weeks now. She knew the story, she just had to tell it and make it believable.
She started off by telling them since Paris had the twins, she wanted a baby. She thought she had plenty of time to find a guy, settle down and have children, but the more she thought about it the more she wanted to do this on her own. She told them that for a year now, she has been visiting Paris' clinic. This was her second try. She is happy. She is going to do this with the help of her family and friends. She was raised by a single mother and she turned out okay. She told them she would appreciate their support, but if not she understood.
"Kiddo, Myself and Jennifer will be here for you. We will be here to help or do whatever you want us to do." Chris said. Jennifer was nodding her head.
"Me too," Gigi was saying. "I get my license in a couple of years, so I can help pick him up. Oh, do you know if it is a girl or a boy?"
"Not yet," Rory said laughing. She couldn't have hoped for a better response. She knew her dad would be behind her.
"I see now why you finally agreed to take this money my grandfather set aside for you.I will also start a trust fund for the baby." Chris said. He was all smiles.
"Yes," Rory said. "But the contract I signed for my book deal should be enough to start with."
This was repeated again the next day in Nantucket. With different results. Emily had questions concerning the sperm donor. Lorelai didn't have any question, or if she did she didn't ask them, she just left the room.
Rory assured Emily that she did her research on the father and all would be okay. Emily wasn't sure, but she was excited to have a great grandchild. She then started about getting the Manor ready for a baby. She insisted she hire her some help.
Rory was looking toward the way that Lorelai went. Emily got up, patted Rory on the leg and whispered. "I want to talk with you before you leave. I want to go ahead and give you what your grandfather left for you." She kissed her on the cheek and walked in the direction of Lorelia.
"Kid," Luke said. "I am happy for you and will be here if you need anything."
Rory and Lorelai were not able to talk for a few days. Rory and Lorelai were not alone for the rest of the day. Every time Rory tried to bring the baby up, Lorelai didn't want to talk. The next day, Lorelai and Luke went fishing on a charter boat.
The third day, Rory was getting ready to leave when they were able to talk. Lorelai told her she just needed to process and she was tickled to be getting a grandbaby, but she wished she would have picked a different way. Lorelai told her she was disappointed in her. She told her she was not sure what was going on, but she didn't think she had been trying to have a baby for a year and she didn't think she had used a sperm donor from Paris. When Rory questioned her, she told her she didn't know, but she didn't believe her.
When Rory left Nantuckett that day, she knew the relationship she had with Lorelai would not be the same. Rory and Lorelai have always been freakishly close for a mother and daughter. When she started Chilton she saw a part of her mother that she didn't know. Then when she started Yale the relationship started to get more cracks . When she left to go on the campaign trail, the relationship cracked some more. With all the traveling, Rory was not able to repair the cracks, then she met Login again in Philadelphia, she could see the crack so much better, the straw that broke her was when she showed her the first draft of the first chapter of her book, and Lorelai forbade her to write the book. This last development would probably be the nail in the coffin.
Throughout Rory's pregnancy, her family was there for her. Jennifer helped her find a housekeeper, then a nanny. Lorelai visited Rory and Rory visited Lorelai, she even went to a couple of appointments with her. Finn checked in on her almost every day. He often brought her latest cravings.
She would see Jess sometimes when she visited Luke and Lorelai, but he was still mad about the books. The book went to the publishers before Rory went into labor.
After having the baby, Rory had more help than she needed. Lorelai seemed to have dropped her crusade to find out the truth. Emily started visiting more. May 22, 2017, Everyone was happy to welcome Victoria Hayden Gilmore. She honored her mother by using the name Victoria and her dad by using the middle name as Hayden. She just wished she could have honored Logan some way or another. She could not thank him enough for agreeing to the contract. She knew it was a hard decision for him to make.
