Chapter 12

Finn and Logan pulled into the parking lot of Tori's gymnastics class. Logan was nervous. Tori has met him several times, but this would be different. He would be meeting her knowing there is a chance to get to know her.

"Finn, tell me more about what she likes. What do y'all talk about on your way to eat? What does she like to eat.?" Logan asked as they walked to the front of the building.

"Logan, Man, Chill." Finn said. "We are early, we should be able to see the last few minutes of class. She will change her clothes, then she will meet us here." Finn motioned toward the chairs that were almost full with other parents and nannies.

They both took a seat. Logan was straining trying to find her. When he did he smiled. He watches her while Finn tells him they usually talk about her day at school. What she has been up to since he last saw her and what she would like to eat.

When class was over, Tori ran to where Finn and Logan were standing. "Hey Uncle Finn. I saw you when you came in. Did you see me?" Tori asked. She was spinning around and talking. Finn was laughing.

"Yes, Little Love, I saw you." He said. "Go change, Logan is with me and we are meeting your mom."

She stopped spinning and looked at Logan, "Hey" she said. "I remember you. You are Uncle Finn's mate. You come with him to the park sometimes." Logan grinned. She has been around Finn too long using mate instead of Finn

"Hey, Yes I do." He told her. "I enjoyed watching you today. Looks like you were having fun."

She nodded. "Scoot," Finn told her. Ms. Tammy is waiting to help you change." He said pointing at the door. She ran off to Ms. Tammy. The smile on Logan's face was something to see.

Finn helped her in the car. She crawled into the booster seat and buckled herself up. Finn reached back when he was in the driver's seat and checked to make sure she was buckled in.

As they pulled out on the road, Finn glanced at Logan and nodded. "Hey. Tori," Logan started. "Tell me about your day. What did you do at school?"

"I colored, then played. It rained so we went to the gym. Ms Jessi let us play basketball." She told him.

"Is that all?" Finn asked. "Are you and Kelly best mates again?"

"Yeah" She said with a sigh, "But I want to be BFF with Cathy."

"Do you know Harper?" Logan asked. "That's my niece."

"What is a niece?" she asked.

"You are Gigi's niece." Finn told her, "because Gigi is your mom's sister." Tori nodded, like she was processing. Logan remembers seeing Rory do that.

"Honor, Harper's mom is my sister." Logan told her.

"You know Ms. Honor?" she asked. "I like her. Harper comes to my house all the time."

They kept the conversation going, with Finn's help until they pulled into the parking lot of the inside playground.

"Yea" She squealed when she realized where they were. "I like to eat here." She was unbuckling her seat belt.

"Wait on us," Finn told her.

She ran to Rory as soon as they got inside the building. When Finn and Logan caught up, Rory already stripped Tori off her coat and Tori was going a mile at minute telling her about her day. Finn and Logan sat down. Rory nodded to both of them.

"Momma, this is Logan. He is Uncle Finn's mate." She told her.

"I know sweety." Rory told her. "He is my friend too."

Tori looked at her mom confused before saying "Uncle Finn, let's go order so we can play." She grabbed Finn's hand and led him to the concession stand. Logan and Rory were laughing.

"Well, I guess if we want to eat, we better follow them." Rory said

Tori and Finn kept them entertained while they ate. When they finished, Finn and Tori went to the playground.

Logan and Rory were watching them when Logan said. "I told you I wanted to go on a date with you." Rory nodded. "I also want to set aside time, at least once a week, for you to tell me about her. What I have missed in the last 5 years."

"Okay," She said. "I will get her baby book and photo album. That should help jar my memories. I will bring them along next time." He nodded.

"Right now," He said. "I want to know why Lorelai was not happy with the book." Logan asked. "Ace, you are an excellent writer. I can't imagine you writing a bad book."

Rory put her head down. She would not look him in the face. "She didn't like the way I wrote her in the book." She told him. He looked at her, waiting for an explanation.

"I wrote how she always had to have her way. Remember when I dropped out of Yale. Remember we went months without speaking to each other. She only welcomed me back home when I returned to Yale." She stated. He nodded.

"Well, I can look back on it now and see that is not the only thing that had to be her way. Hindsight is 20/20. I can see how childish she was. I know I alway kidded about me raising Lorelai instead of Lorelai raising me. That wasn't a joke. Do you know how many times I had to make her mad to make her leave me alone so I could study?"

"Well Ace, I know you take your studying seriously, maybe too seriously sometimes." Logan said. She just glared at him. "But I can see where your mother bothering you when you need to study. It could be aggravating." He was not trying to save himself.

"Anyway, she didn't like the way I wrote her. She even threatened to sue." Rory laughed, "That was after Dad gave me access to my accounts."

"She wouldn't really sue you, would she?" Logan asked.

She shrugged her shoulders. "I had a contract with Retting and Company Publishing. I had to buy my contract and return the advance money. I hadn't spent it. I was saving it for the renovation of the Hartford Manor."

"Wow," Logan said.

"Yeah," She said. "When Dad found out, he offered to pay for the renovations, but Grandma found out, she paid for it. They didn't want me to touch my money. I couldn't spend all my money if I tried."

"School is expensive." He told her. "I know she is in a private preschool. I know it cost a pretty penny. Honor made sure I knew how much it was costing when she enrolled Harper."

"What did she want you to do? Send me the money?" She asked.

"I'm not sure, I just reminded her you had access to an account Finn set up if you needed something." Logan said.

"Well, Honor took Harper and Tori shopping. She bought both girls' uniforms, socks, shoes, backpacks, jackets and coats." Rory told him. "I tried to give her the money for it, but she just told me Mitchum was paying for his girls to go to school. Then we both just laughed." she told him.

"I bet she sent the bill to him." Logan was chuckling. "Yeah, Honor would do something like that."

They both stopped talking when Finn and Tori came running over. It wasn't long before they left. Tori and Rory in her car. Finn and Logan in Finn's.

Logan was pleased with how today had turned out. He would have liked to spend more time with Tori, but baby steps.
