Hey guys, Just a heads up. My mom is having surgery today, my two brothers are taking care of her. I am staying with my 82 year old dad. I will try to write a lot while I am here. So you may be lucky and get several chapters today and tonight. Reviews help me write. Just saying.
Chapter 13
After Tori was born, Rory tried to continue the Friday night dinner tradition. Only once a month, and open house. All of her friends are invited. Drinks start at 6, eating at 7, usually take out, large variety, kid friendly.
Rory made sure that Logan was aware, but she told him Lorelai and Luke would probably be there. The good thing about that is Friday Night Dinners are kid friendly. No fusing, no fighting, no arguing, at least not in front of the kids.
Rory was nervous about this Friday night dinner. She went to Stars Hollow after she dropped Tori off at school. She wanted Lorelia to know that Logan was back.
"Hey Michele" Rory said as she approached the reception desk.
"Little Lorelai." Michele said in his condescending way. He likes Rory and Tori, but he has to keep up the pretense. "Your mother is around somewhere. She doesn't tell me where she is, like it is not my business. What if a guest wants to talk to her? Whatever" He waved his hand toward the kitchen.
"Mom, Skooki," Rory said as she entered the kitchen.
Lorelia turned around, "Was I expecting you?" She asked.
Rory shook her head. "No, just want to get some good coffee from Luke's. Thought I would stop by and see if you would like to join me."
Lorelia looked at her watch. "I got a meeting in 15 minutes. I don't have time to go and get back." Lorelai said. "I'm sorry."
"Do you have time to talk to me over coffee in the dining room?" She asked, pointing to the dining room.
"Sure," Lorelai said. "Grab a cup" pointing to the coffee.
Rory knew she didn't have a lot of time, so she thought she would just cut to the chase.
When Lorelia sat down, Rory took a sip of her coffee. "Are you and Luke coming to Friday night dinner tonight?" She asked
"Yes, I was hoping to bring her back with us. You know the 'Love Shine' festival is tomorrow?" Lorelai said.
Rory nodded. "I need to give you a heads up." Rory said. Lorelai nodded for her to continue. "Finn is bringing Logan." Rory took a sip of coffee so she could judge Lorelia's reaction.
"Ok, Why would that be a problem?" She asked.
"It is not a problem. I just didn't want to be surprised." Rory said. "He is back in Hartford and New York, so you may be seeing him more." She took another sip. Lorelai was good and masking her facial reaction, as good as the next, but Rory knew her and was hoping she could see past it.
Rory waited for Lorelai to finish drinking her coffee. She wanted her to say something.
"Are y'all dating?" she asked.
There it is. "We are getting to know each other again." She told her. Lorelia nodded.
The bell over the door dinged , Lorelai looked past Rory to the front. "That would be my meeting." She said and smiled. "I will see you tonight. Tory can come back with us?" she asked. Rory nodded.
Lorelai left Rory sitting at the table drinking her coffee.
Rory did some writing before lunch. Sara the housekeeper was straighter up. After lunch she meets Logan for coffee before she picks up Tori.
"So," Rory said after he sat down. "I talked to Lorelai"
"Yeah?" He said. She nodded. "What should I expect?"
"You know Lorelai." She said, "No one knows what to expect. She asked if we were dating. I told her we were getting to know each other again." He nodded.
"I think we need to stick to getting to know each other." She told him. "I guess I am saying don't give Tori any extra attention." He had a confused look on his face.
"What I am trying to say is, don't overdo it with attention to me, but pay more attention to me than Tori." She said,
He nodded. "But, if I was to approach this like Tori was not my child, I would still give her attention if I wanted to date you. I would know that you and Tori are a package deal." He said.
She sighed. "I know. I am sure at some point she will know, but I just don't want that to be now."
"I'll figure it out." He said.
"She is going with Mom after dinner tonight. The 'Love' festival is going on in the Hollow tomorrow. Would you like to take me?" She asked.
"Are you, Rory Gilmore, asking me on a date?" he teased.
"No, Well, Yes," She stumbled. "It will give you a chance to see your daughter and have time with her mother."
He took her land, brought to his lips and kissed it. "I think that is a wonderful idea. What time should I pick you up?" He smirked, or should I just bring clothes with me tonight?"
She swatted his hand. "Too soon" She said, but the smile on her face told the whole story.
