Chapter 20
Rory was able to concentrate the rest of the morning, she was having lunch with Logan, then picking Tori up from school. She called to tell Sara, Logan would be joining them for supper, Sara told her she was making shepherd's pie, yeast rolls and english peas. Chocolate chip cookies for dessert.
Rory loves Sara's chocolate chip cookies. She made them as big as the dinner plate, she knows Sara enjoys spoiling her.
Rory was gathering her messenger bag, along with her coat. She was getting ready to meet Logan for lunch. They had a reservation at Arianna's. They specialized in business lunch.
Kimberly knocked and stepped into Rory's office. "Boss," She said. "Are we going to be seeing more of you in this new year?" She was leaning against the door frame. She was dressed very smartly for a female CEO. She had on a navy blue pants suit baby blue camisole.
"I'm not sure." Rory told her. "Is it a problem? You know I work in the office sometimes, others I work at home."
"No, No problem" Kimberly said back tracking. "I just mean I have seen you twice in the last two weeks after not seeing you since the office Christmas party."
"Just getting a change of scenery." Rory told her. "Unless you have something else to talk with me about, I will be going. I have a lunch meeting."
Kimberly stepped out the door to allow Rory to leave.
When she got to the lobby of the building, instead of going to the underground garage, she stopped and put the address of Arianna's in her phone to see how long it would take her to walk. It was a 10 minute walk. She turned toward the lobby door, put on the coat, pulled up her messenger bag and exited the lobby.
When she got to Arianna's, she told the hostess the reservation was under Huntzburger. Logan was already seated. He had a glass of water and two wine glasses, along with a bottle of wine on the table.
He stood up when he saw her, kissed her on the cheek before pulling her chair out for her. Always the gentleman.
"Wine?" She asked. "Are you trying to get me drunk and take advantage of me?"
"No," He said. "I just want you to relax." She nodded as he poured her a glass of wine.
They enjoyed their lunch. They talked about each other, both learning new things about the other. Several business associates stopped by to speak with Logan.
They had finished the meal, just waiting on Logan's credit card to be returned, two ladies and a man approached the table. Logan remembers seeing them at the table across the room, but he didn't recognize them.
"Rory?" Blonde female asked.
Rory turned to see Louise Grant. "Louise?" Rory said, standing up to hug her old friend.
"I haven't seen you in years," Louise said. "I think the last time you were pregnant."
"Yes, I remember." Rory said. Louise and Madilyn came to Rory's baby shower. "She will be 5 in June. She doesn't like for me to say she is only 4" Rory chucked.
Louise scanned her eyes over Logan. Logan Huntzburger. She heard they dated in college. "Oh, where are my manners?" Louise said. "Rory, this is Cindy Watson, my assistant and her husband John. It's their anniversary. I treated them to lunch."
"Cindy, John, How long have you been married?" Rory asked.
"35 years," Cindy told her.
Rory nodded, "Congratulations…. This is Logan Huntzburger, Logan this is Cindy and John," She nodded toward the couple as Logan shook their hands, "And this is Louise Grant. We went to Chilton together."
Logan reached over and shook her hand also.
After talking with Louise for a few minutes, Logan escorted Rory out the door. "You said you walked, do you need a ride back to your car?" Logan asked. Rory saw the door to the towncar being held open for her. She thought about her feet and the shoes she was wearing. She nodded and got in the car.
Rory picked Tori up from school and they returned home. Tori didn't have uniforms yet, but she liked to get out of her school clothes when she got home. She would rather have on her barbie sweatpants Gigi gave her for Christmas. Rory could blame her. Some days she changed into her sweets, who is she fooling, some days she doesn't even take them off, especially when Kenzi picked Tori up.
About 6 the doorbell rang. Tori answered the door, with Rory right behind her. "Hey Logan." Tori said. "Harper said you are her uncle causa her momma is your sister."
"That's right." Logan said. "Just like Gigi is your aunt because she is your momma's sister." Toti looked like she was processing the information.
"Logan and Honor have the same mommy and daddy. Just like me and Gigi have the same daddy. Grampy Chris." Rory told her.
The look on her face was truly confused now, but she nodded and went back into the living room where she was putting a puzzle together while watching Barbie's Dream House on Netflix.
Rory and Logan joined her. Rory had already put the shepard's pie in the oven, the english peas and salad were ready also.
"Tori," Logan said to get her attention. "Come sit with me and tell me about your day." Rory smiled. He was trying so hard.
Tori sat on the sofa next to Logan and told him about her day, while Rory fixed him a scotch and her a glass of wine. Tori already had a tumbler of juice.
When Rory sat down, Tori was still talking. She told him about Sara putting orange slices in her lunch to share, but she didn't share; she traded them for Joshie's chocolate pudding. Logan was smiling and 'um hum' in the right places. Rory could help but smile at his efforts as well as how good he and Tori got along. Before she goes to bed tonight, she will tell her she and Logan are dating. That way she had the night to process.
After eating and loading the dishwasher, Rory sent Tori up for a bath. Rory excused herself to help Tori.
Logan stayed downstairs. He fixed himself a drink. He found a book laying on the end table. He picked it up and was thumbing through it when Rory returned.
"She will be down in a minute. She is putting her pajamas on and gathering a stuffy to snuggle with while we watch a movie." Rory told him. "Glad you made yourself at home." she nodded toward the wine. "I want you to feel at home here"
Rory grabbed a bottle of water off the drink cart and sat down beside him. He had the remote, "What movie does she want to watch tonight?" he asked.
Rory turned to him. "I want to tell her we are dating. I want you to be able to spend the night sometimes." Rory told him
"Do I need to be here for that?" Logan asked.
Rory laughed, "Not really, but if you want to be a parent, that means you have to be here for the bad stuff too."
Tori came bouncing down the stairs with Ella the pink elephant under her one arm and Roo the kangaroo under the other. She stopped at the bottom of the stairs. "In here or the baseroom? Tori asked. Before they could answer she continued. "Roo and Ella can't agree on what to watch, so we are just going to watch what I want to." Tori said.
"In here" Rory said. She nodded then crawled up on the couch between her parents. Rory went to get the pop corn, while she wiggled around until she got comfortable. She was wrapped in her blanket with both stuffies, curled into Logan.
Logan watched her until she got settled. "So, what did you decide on?" He asked.
Rory returned while Tori was telling Logan that Ella wanted to watch Barbie Dream House again, but Roo wanted to The Jungle Book so she said we are watching Tangled"
"Well," Rory said. "Sounds like you had quite the discussion upstairs. It's a wonder you had time to put your pajamas on."
"Momma," Tori said.
"Logan and I would like to talk to you before the movie." Rory told her. She looked at her momma, then turned to Logan. She was trying to figure out if she was in trouble. Then she nodded..
"You know how you like to watch me put on my makeup, get all dressed up?" Rory asked.
She nodded. "On a date?" Tori asked.
"Yes," Rory said. "When I would go on a date."
"Yeah, Lele or Kenzie would stay with me. Are you going on a date? Can Lele stay? She lets me have ice cream before story time."
Rory smiled at Tori, then looked at Logan. He was trying to smile, but you could see he was nervous. Deep down he knew even if Tori didn't want them to date, he would still get to see her, but he wanted the whole package with Rory.
"Well, Logan and I are going to date." Rory said.
Tori turned and looked up at Logan. "We are not just going on a date, we are going to date a lot. That means he will be spending more time with us, sometimes here at home, sometimes we will go out." Rory told her. She knew this was a lot for her to have to process.
"Will I have to go to a fancy restaurant with you?" she asked, then turned to Logan. "Will I have to wear a party dress? I don't like to wear dresses too much."
"Maybe sometimes, but not all the time. Sometimes Logan and I will go by ourselves, sometime" She looks at Logan. "We will go with Uncle Finn and his date." Rory didn't want to overwhelm her, she wanted to give her time to process. She knows that is important.
"You will date Logan all the time?" she asked.
"He will be the only one I date, but he won't be here all the time. He has to work, visit family, he flys in an airplane sometimes." Rory said.
Tori looked at Logan again. "Do you live with anybody? Your mommy or daddy?" she asked.
"No," Logan said. "I live in an apartment in town. I have an apartment in New York too." He told her.
"You have two homes." She said matter of factly. "I want to see your homes."
"Okay," Logan told her. "We will make plans for you to see my homes"
"Tori," Rory said. "That is all well and good, but I want to know what you think about me and Logan dating."
She shrugged her shoulders. "Why don't he live with us, he can sleep in your bed, like Lele and Papa Luke." Lorelia nor Logan knew what to say to that. "Can we start the movie now?"
Rory nodded, Logan took the remote and found the movie.
Sorry, I got carried away with this chapter and made it a long chapter.
My plans are to continue like this for the next few days, then skip to the end of the school years. I have lots of plans for the summer.
