Chapter 21
After they put Tori to bed, they went back down stairs. Logan fixed himself another drink, it was still early, only 8:30.
"So, I guess we need to talk." Rory said. Logan nodded. He knew they needed to talk, he just wasn't sure in what order they needed to talk.
"So, she thinks I should live here." Logan said. He cut his eyes up at Rory. She was smiling.
"Let's work up to that one." She said, He nodded.
"Do you want to set a night a week to eat with us?" Rory asked.
"Well, I should have a better idea of my schedule in the next few weeks." He told her. "Like I told Lorelai, I plan to work out of the Hartford office, but I anticipate having to be in New York at least once a week."
She nodded. "Okay, for now we'll play it by ear." He nodded.
"They called today about my car." Logan told her. "It will be ready this week."
"Okay, I am sure you are looking forward to having something bigger to drive." She said,
"Yeah," He said, but hesitated before saying, "I was thinking we could take the copter to Manhattan Friday morning. I could pick up my car and we could just make a weekend of it." Rory started to speak, but Logan continued. "I could get tickets to an early showing of one of the kids shows and we could take Tori."
"We would stay at the penthouse?" she asked
He nodded. "I was….." He sighed, he didn't know how to go about this part, but maybe just head on. "Maybe we can pick out some furniture for a room for Tori."
"You want to make one of the rooms in your penthouse for Tori?" She asked.
"Yeah," He said. "I'm hoping this will not be a one time visit. I hope you and Tori will visit me often, even one day, look at this as your home too."
Rory didn't say anything. "I also would like your input on redecorating also."
"Logan, where do you see us this time next year?" She asked. "I need you to be honest with me please."
Logan thought for a moment. "This time next year, at the least, I hope we are living together."
Rory nodded. "Tori's birthday is the beginning of summer." Logan said. "I want us to spend the month of July at the vineyard." Rory nodded. "So you agree."
"Logan, I am not agreeing to anything. I nodded to encourage to go on, at this point, I have no objections, but I have questions, but I want you to continue first."
"Okay." He said. "The month of July is vacation time. I will have to work for the island, maybe have to fly to Manhattan a few times, but I want to spend the whole month there with you and Tori. I want to be able to sleep in my bed with you. Harper has a room with bunk beds. She and Tori can share."
"Will Honor be coming?" She asked.
"Not for the whole month." He said "She and the kids will visit a weekend here and there. The boys attend several camps, so she can't spend the whole month."
"You said vacation," she said, he nodded. "Will Shira be coming?"
This is the part that he dreaded. "Shira will make an appearance the week of the 4th. But, But" Logan said, holding his hand up. "This property belongs to me now. I put Honor in charge of renovation. She included the pool house in the renovations." He snickered. "Her plan was for her and Josh to stay out there when the parents are on the island, but it ended up being where we put the parents so we could have peace, so she will be staying there."
"Well, We spend a week at the beginning of summer and a week at the end of summer with Grandma on Nantucket." She told him, "We schedule it so that we have been there for several days before Mom and Luke get there, then we leave after they have been there for several days. It stretches out our visits, and insures me that I don't have to referee the whole time I am there. Grandma bought the house next door, so she thinks she has a compound. Lorelia and Luke stay there. Tori stays with them some."
"Okay, we can work around that. Will you have to go to the office anytime this summer?" he asked.
"I will work around the time I am here. I like to make an appearance several times a month,so we will see." She told him.
They both sat there for a while, not saying anything. Both in their own heads.
"So does this mean we are working toward the goal of moving in together." She asked.
He thought for a second before answering. "Yes, but my goal is to be your husband and Tori's Dad."
"I could put you on the birth certificate now, no one has to know." She told him.
"Wouldn't they put my name on the birth certificate if I adopt her.?" He asked.
"You want to adopt your own daughter?" She asked.
"No, Yeah, I would shout it from the highest roof if it wasn't for damaging Tori for life. I don't want her to be known as the child I abandoned. I don't want her questioned how she feels about being abandoned by Logan Huntzburger." He said. He had stood up now.
"So you don't want to ever tell her? What happens if she finds out? She will hate us for not telling her. I mean when she is older, I think she should know." She told him.
"When she is old enough to know, we will tell her, but I don't want it public knowledge." He said.
"Okay, I see what you are saying." She told him.
They both became silent again.
"Can we go back to the original question?" Logan asked
She looked at him confused. "Will you and Tori fly with me this weekend to Manhattan to get my car?" He asked.
"I'm pretty sure we can do that. Let me check our schedule. I will let you know."
So Rogan is going to Manhattan to stay in the HPG apartment. Tori is coming along. How will this play out? Any suggestions? Let me know. I want to please my readers. I want to give you what you want.
