Chapter 24

She woke to the smell of homemade soup. This meant Sara was making homemade soup, which sounded so good. She got to use the restroom, splashing some water on her face after finishing the necessities. She then moved to her bed and straightened it up. She grabbed her phone only to see she had several texts, a couple of missed calls and a few voice mails. She sighed.

Text from Logan: L: thought you were going to call me after you talked with Lorelai.

L: Ace, you need to call me. It has been an hour since you called your mother. I am worried.

L: Sorry to keep bothering you, but my secretary just gave me a message to call the DragonFly to speak with Lorelai.

L: Okay, I called your house and Sara said you were napping. I feel better now. Just call when you can.

Missed call: Logan, Lorelai, Lane and Luke.

VM from Lorelai: 'Rory, I have thought about your situation. I don't want you to go to New York with Logan. It is not a good idea. You and Tori can just stay at the DragonFly this weekend. We will make it a fun weekend. Call me when you get this.'

VM from Lorelai: 'Rory, call me. Do you want me to book you the suite, or would you rather stay in the cottage out back? I think a suite will be better, but wanted to see what you would prefer. Just call me when you get this.'

VM from Lane: 'Hey, just ran into your mother on the square. She invited us to eat with y'all Friday. Did your plans change? You mentioned you and Tori would probably go with Logan this weekend.I didn't say anything about your plans for New York. I haven't talked to you since Wednesday. Just call and let me know.

VM from Luke's phone: 'Hey, I'm at Luke's, he wants to know what you and Tori want for supper Friday night. He was thinking of steaks, but wanted to get your input. I am calling Lane to see if her and Zach and the boys want to join us for supper Friday night. Call me and Let me know.'

She was sitting on the sofa in the living room. She needed to address this. She dialed the phone and waited while it rang.

"Hey," Rory said. "My plans have not changed. I don't know what her problem is. She thinks she can just make plans and I will go along with them."

"I was wondering. I know when we talked Wednesday you were pretty sure you were going, but I didn't know if you changed your mind."

"She called three times, one on Luke's phone. I guess she thought I would answer him. Which I probably would have, but I was taking a nap after talking to her. She gave me a headache." Rory said, pulling the phone away from her ear. "Hey Lane, I gotta go, Dad's calling."

"Dad," Rory said, answering the phone. She put it on speaker so she could text Lane.

"Hey," Chris said. "Wanta tell me what is going on?"

R: Don't say anything about talking with me or my plans to go with Logan to Lorelia.

"I bet I can guess what happened." Rory said. Lane: No problem. Have fun. "Mom called. She told you all about the trip with Logan. Did she tell you she invited me and Tori to come to Stars Hollow this weekend? She is even letting us stay in at the DragonFly, She invited Lane and her family to eat with us. Luke is preparing steak."

"Rory, sweetheart, slow down," Chris said. "Don't get upset. You know how your mother is. You have two choices. 1, call her back and tell her you are not coming this weekend or 2, ignore her until you get back. This first could put a damper on your weekend and the second, could also put a damper because you will be dreading calling her when you get back. Think about it. I will back your decision."

"I know," She said. "Thanks for listening. Keep me informed on what she is saying about this."

"I will Kiddo," Chris said, "I will talk with you later. Love you!"

She received a text while she was talking with Chris. Lane: I bet you forget it was Valentine weekend. I bet he has something planned.

She shook her head. R: We will have Tori with us.

Lane: Yeah, but he will figure a way around it.

She nodded her head. R: Yeah, wish me luck.

Lane: Luck.

She dialed Logan's cell number and waited for him to answer. "Hey" he said.

"Hey, I needed a nap after talking to Lorelai." She told him.

"Yeah, Sara said you laid down for a while. Sorry I called the house but I thought maybe you left your phone in the bedroom or the office." He said.

"It's not a problem." She said, "Lorelai had a fit when she found out we were going with you this weekend."

"Well, you knew she would." He said. "Was it worse than you thought?"

"Not the conversation, but the aftermath." She told him. "While I was napping I got 2 vms from Lorelai and one from Luke's phone."

"Oh, No," He said.

She told him about the voice mails Lorelai made. She then told him about the conversation with Lane. He was laughing by the time she finished. She didn't think it was funny. She started to tell him that, but then she thought about it and yes, it was funny. She started laughing.

Kenzi picked Tori up and took her for ice cream. This gave Rory more time to pack. Her and Sara both were doing laundry after lunch.

She picked up the phone to call Logan. "Hello," Logan answered.

"Hey are you busy?" she asked.

"I need a break," He said.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to disturb you." She told him

"Ace, Don't worry about it." He told her. "I am just going over some numbers, If I am in a meeting I won't answer my cell. You can call the office if it can't wait and they will get me out of the meeting."

She didn't say anything.

"Ace?" He said. "You called me."

"Yeah," She said. "I know we are going to a manatee, Saturday. I am packing for that, but what other plans do you have?"

"I don't know," He said. "What would you like to do?"

"Logan," She said. "I know you. I know that you know this is Valentine's weekend. Do I need to remind you that Tori will be with us?"

"No, I know that Tori will be with us" He said.

"So I can just pack jeans, leggings and sweats?" she asked.

"Sure," He said.

She shook her head. She could feel the smirk on his face. He had a plan.

"Okay, I will pack accordingly." She said,

"You do that Ace," He said.

"Bye Logan," She said.

"I will call you tonight." He told her and hung up the phone.

Picked it back up and dialed. He waited for it to stop ringing. "Hey, Everything still a go for Saturday night?"

"Yes, Logan, When have I let you down?" Honor asked.

"Never sis." He said.

"Just remember, you agree to take all the kids next weekend." She reminded him.

"Yes, I remember." He said.
