Chapter 29
Rory got out of the shower and checked the time. She still had time to dry her hair and curl it. She had been thinking all day about what she should wear. She decided on her Christmas dress. It was red with a sweetheart dress hit her just below the knee. She would pair it with a pair of black booties.
When her makeup was done and her hair curled, she stood at the mirror in her pink Victoria's Secret bra and panties set. She nodded her head. Yeah, this is going to be a good night.
She moved to her closet to get her Christmas dress, but what she found was a red Valentino Garavani Bow-Applique Fit-&-Flare Crepe Couture Mini Dress hanging on the wall. It had a note attached. WEAR ME She shook her head. She didn't know why she was surprised. She should have expected it. This was something Logan would do. She sighed. It looks too short, but she would wear it for him.
She was touching up her lip gloss when she heard the doorbell. She opened the door to Logan. He was wearing a Ralph Lauren Black, tailored suit, with a crisp white shirt and a red tie. He was also wearing his Ace of Hearts cufflinks Rory bought him years ago.
"Well don't you look nice. Must have a hot date." She told him.
"The hottest." He said and kissed her.
"Let me grab my clutch and we can be on our way." She told him. He put his hand on the small of her back and led her to his 911 Porsche. When they got to the gate, before pulling out onto the highway, Logan pulled a blind fold out of the glove compartment.
"No," She said.
"Please," He said. "I promise it won't be for long."
She sighed and put it on. "It better not mess up my hair." She said, He just chuckled.
They talked about Tori and his Valentine gift. She told him about her asking if she loved him. She was so distracted talking that she didn't realize they had stopped.
"Ace, just sit still and I will open the door for you." He told her.
He opened the door and helped her stand up. When she was steady, Logan pulled the blindfold off.
When her eyes adjusted she saw a beautiful wooden gazebo with fairy lights strung up all around. As he led her to the gazebo, she could see it had a table set with candles and two place settings. When she stepped up on the steps, she could see the heaters all around. There was soft music coming from the overhead speaker.
Logan took her hand "Would you like to dance?" She nodded. He held her in his arms and they danced. She wasn't sure how long they danced until she started to smell food. She opened her eyes to see the wait staff placing salads on the table.
"Logan," She said.
"Are you ready to eat?" he asked. She nodded. He led her over to her chair and pulled it out for her.
When sat down, she looked around for the first time. She noticed a pond off to the right of them. "Logan, where are we? This is so beautiful." She said,
"You wouldn't believe it if I told you." He said.
"Try me," she said.
"We are on the backside of the Huntzburger estate. If you look back over this way, you can see the Manor." He told her.
"We are in your backyard?" she asked.
"Yes. Do you approve?" he asked.
"Oh, Yeah." She told him.
They enjoyed their meal. They danced while waiting for dessert. When dessert was served, they sat down and shared a piece of blueberry cheesecake. They were feeding it to each other.
Logan put down his fork and took her hand. "Ace, I have loved you since I was 20 years old. I messed up when I walked away from you at your graduation. I messed up again, when I agreed to let you and Tori go. Both times, it was what was best, but I will not walk away again." He pulled out a ring box and Rory's eyes got big.
"Don't panic," He said, opening the box. "I am not proposing, but I am going to give you a ring. This ring is my promise to always be her for you and Tori. This ring is a promise that someday, I will propose, someday, we will be a family."
He held the ring up for her to see. It was white gold, with a beautiful pearl in the center of a bed of diamonds. "This is Tori's birthstone.. When you wear this, I want to remember my promises to you and Tori."
Rory had tears running down her cheeks, She held her hand out for him to put it on. It was the most beautiful thing she had ever seen except for their child.
She stood up and he hugged her. They stood there in a hug for a long time.
"Let's go home," she said.
"Sounds go to me.." He said
They walked back to the Porsche, hand in hand, both smiling so bright.
