Chapter 39
Rory and Tori refused to let Logan see the clothes they picked out for the sunset cruise. They even refused to let him see what they picked out for him. When they got home, Logan was still in the office working so the two girls went swimming.
Logan joined them just before sunset. It had started cooling off. Logan lit the heaters on the deck before ordering pizza. They enjoyed the pizza in front of the fireplace while putting a puzzle together.
This is the life they should have had. This is beyond the life that he hoped for when he proposed to Rory on her graduation day. All things happen for a reason. He looked over at Tori, who had her head in Rory's lap with the hem of Rory's sweater clutched in her hand. Rory's head was leaning on his shoulder. The TV was playing 'Paw Patrol' in the background. He hated to wake Rory. She was sleeping so peacefully, but it was time to get Tori to bed.
The next morning, Logan woke to something sticking in his ribs. He went to move when he realized it was Tori's elbow. Her head was next to his on his pillow, but her feet were on Rory's legs. She was getting so tall. How she got in that position he didn't know.
He eased out of the bed, trying not to wake either of them. He grabbed his shorts and a tee shirt, heading to his office to finish up a few things from yesterday.
It wasn't long before he heard Rory coming down the stairs. She must have smelled the coffee he made. When he looked up again, she was standing in the doorway.
"Hey you," He said. She smiled at him before sitting on the couch in his office.
"Hey, Sorry about the munchkin in bed with us. It was lighting across the bay and she got scared." Rory told him.
"That's not a problem." He said. "I called the maid service. They will come in tomorrow to close the house up. Leave anything you want in the closet. It will be less for you to pack. We will probably make another trip here next month. You can bring more stuff then too." She nodded.
"The maid service will put fresh sheets on the bed, washing any clothes left in the hamper. Leave instructions on the white board in the laundry room of any special care." He said leaning back in his office chair.
"Usually when we are here on and off for the month, the maid service opens the house, grocery shops, things like that. I have them scheduled for twice a week during July. The 4th will be the exception. If you want them to come more just let me know." He continued. He made a list of things about staying on the island for a month, that he wanted to talk with her about.
"Logan, I am very capable of taking care and cleaning up." She told him.
"I know Ace, but you will be working some too. I want you to be able to rest." He said. "Oh, I almost forgot." He handed her a brochure. "These are the day camps and schedules at the club. They usually fill up pretty quick. Talk to Honor. Harper can stay with us some while Honor shuffles the boys to and from camps."
Rory was looking at the brochure, nodding her head. "They have a nanny service too." She said,
"Yeah, talk to Honor. She's used them several times, especially to watch the kids in the pool. They are all lifeguard certified." He said. She nodded again. He thought of everything.
"How long have you had this vision of us like this in your head?" She asked. He just smirked.
Logan worked most of the day, while his girls played in the pool, read and watched movies. Rory was able to get Tori to take a nap so she would be rested for the sunset cruise.
It wasn't long before Logan and Tori were waiting in the living room on Rory to come downstairs for the cruise. He already had the luggage loaded in the car. When they went shopping, Rory bought Logan a new crisp Tom Ford shirt to go with his khaki chinos and his blue blazer.
Tori was wearing a pink Ralph Lauren Girls stretch Cotton Mesh Polo Dress with a pair of L'amour Shoes white Kayla Open Toe Sandals. She was trying her best to sit like a lady. Her Grandma Emily taught her how to cross her legs at the ankle.
Rory came down the stairs in her Everyday Ritual Regina Gauze Cover SunDress in Teal along with her Manolo Blahnik Solisa Metallic Ankle-Strap Sandals. She was carrying a Cult Gaia Nala Mini Shell Metallic Clutch.
Wow, his baby was hot.
Logan pulled up to the loading dock for the cruise. He gave the keys to the velvet. He in return gave him a ticket. Their luggage would be waiting for them when they disembarked in Nantucket.
Tori was amazed. She just stood there beside her mom, holding her hand. The boat was big. Tori's blue eyes were big. When the car pulled away, Tori noticed Logan didn't have their luggage.
"Where our car go?" Tori asked. "Where my Barber case?" She looked at Logan. He was supposed to take care of stuff like that. He is the daddy.
"To start with, When did you get a car?" Rory asked. Tori looked at her. She didn't understand.
"Babe, she may be a little young for your humor." He said to Rory. "Half Pint," He turned to address his daughter. "Our car is going back to the place that let us use it. Our luggage, including your Barbie case, is being loaded on ship. We will get it when we get off the ship in Nantucket."
Tori listened. She looked toward where the car went, then to the big boat. "Okay." she said.
Logan was smiling big. He noticed how Tori took what he said at face value. She trusted him. He noticed the couples watching them. When they got to the gate, he handed in their tickets. The hostess looked at the tickets. "This way Mr. Huntzburger." They followed her to their table. They were sitting next to a big window in the dining room. "My name is Shenie." She told them as she showed them their table. Your server will be Clyde tonight. He will be with you momentarily. I Hope you and your family enjoy your time with us."
Tori was looking around. Logan and Rory were already looking at the menu.
