Chapter 44

Rory was running around trying to get everything set up. The party planner was on the patio attending last minute details. Logan took Tori with him to his office. He said he had to pick up some papers, but really it was just to get Tori out of Rory's way so she and the party planner could finish setting up her birthday party.

Rory stopped at Tori's room. Her baby was 5 years old. Her true love is back in their lives. She is engaged to be married. He wants to get married soon. No big society hoopla. Just something simple. Logan always had good taste in jewelry. Her engagement ring was no exception. Honor told her the setting belonged to her grandmother. Logan took the setting and replaced the band. It was perfect.

She took a deep breath. She had yet to tell Lorelai, or Emily. Emily has been staying with Lorelai. She felt bad not telling Lorelia and Emily. She planned to tell them yesterday, but she didn't make it to the DragonFly like she wanted to. She almost wanted to take it off, but she knew that would not be fair.

She sat down on Tori's bed. She looked around. Her room still looked like a baby's room. She needed to redo it this summer. She smiled thinking about Tori and Harper planning their room at the Vineyard. That reminded her. She needed to pack. They are going to make a day trip to the Vineyard. It won't be long before they will be there for a whole month.

She stood up. She was still smiling thinking about Logan proposing:

He and Tori had been secretitive the last few days. She couldn't figure out what was going on. When Logan got home from work he announced Honor was picking Tori up to spend the night after supper. Then he and Tori ran off to get the chinese food she ordered earlier.

When they returned, she had the table set and ready for them to eat. She even had Tori's overnight bag packed. They came in the kitchen door just whispering.

"Okay," Rory said. "I give up. What is all the whispering about these last couple of days?"

Tori made the motion of zipping her lip and throwing away the key. Rory turned to Logan, who was plating the food.

"Let's eat." Logan said. "Honor will be here soon." He helped Rory to her seat, then Tori.

Rory reached for an egg roll, but Tori grabbed it first. "I wanted that one." Rory told her.

"Too bad." Tori said and smirked. Yes, she looked just like her dad.

"Here Ace, You can have mine." Logan said, putting it on her plate.

"Why didn't they send enough? I know I ordered five. One for each of us and left overs for tomorrow." She told him.

"You two ate the extra egg rolls," She said. "You both know better than to get the take out before you get home. I can't believe you let her eat in your precious car." Rory told Logan. She knows how he is about eating in his car.

Neither would say anything. She could see Tori cutting her eyes at Logan and him shaking his head. "Okay, What's going on."

"I'm sorry Ace, Tori and I have something planned for tomorrow. We will behave now." He told her. She looked at him, then at Tori.

"Tori, Tell me what you did today?" Logan asked.

"I played before lunch, then I swimmed. I wanted Harper to come, but her mommy said no, but I could come to her house tonight." Tori told him.

Logan nodded as he ate his fried rice. He was trying to be casual, but he was watching the egg roll on Rory's plate. It had the ring in it.

"Ace, What about your day?" he asked.

"Well, I played, then I cleaned up, then I swimmed." She said laughing as she picked up the egg roll to take a bite. Tori gasped, Logan was holding his breath, but Rory didn't notice any of that, she just took a bite of her egg roll.

"What is this?" She asked as she pulled a piece of paper out of her mouth. She looked at her egg roll. There was a piece of paper in the middle. She pulled it out and a ring fell out. She looked up at Logan's seat, but he wasn't there, he was on his knee beside her chair.

"Mommy, will you. Will you marry Daddy Logan? Then he can be my daddy." Tori said.

Rory had tears running down her cheeks. She looked back at Logan. "What she said." He told her.

She nodded her head. "Ace, I need to hear you say it." Logan said.

"Yes, Momma, Say it." Tori said. She was so excited.

"Yes, Yes," I will marry you Logan Huntzburger." Rory said as she slid down on the floor next to him. She was hugging him, then Tori joined in.

"Mommy, Mommy," She could hear Tori calling from downstairs. They were home.

"Up here sweetie." She said and met her on the stairs.

"It's time for my party. I changing into my mermaid swimsuit." She told her mom.

"Okay, where is Logan?" She asked. All she heard was mumbling.

Rory found Logan in the kitchen. "Hey babe," He said.

"She is excited. I can't believe my baby is 5." Rory said.

"I say time for another one." Logan said.

"Hey, Let's get married first." She said,

"Any idea when that will be?" He asked. "I mean, that ring on your finger is going to cause lots of questions." He kissed her on the forehead.

"I know, I was thinking maybe I could take it off, just for today." Rory said. She could see the disappointment in his eyes.

"If that is what you want." Logan said.

"No, I will just stand up to her and pray she doesn't make a scene at my baby's party." Rory said. Logan nodded.

"Even if you didn't have that ring, you know Tori is going to tell everyone she is going to be a Huntzburger. She has been practicing saying since Friday when we met with the lawyers about me adopting her." He told her.

"Yeah, I know." she said and turned as the doorbell rang.
