Chapter 46

The rest of the party was chaotic. Well it is a party for a five year old. Lorelai nor Rory brought up the conversation in the pool house. Everyone was congratulating Rory and Logan. Some of the parents came early for pick up. They got involved in the congratulations. Rory knew the news of her and Logan's engagement would be all over Hartford.

She stepped to where Logan was talking with the guys. "Excuse me boys." Rory said with a smile. "I need my fiance' for a minute." She had her hand on his elbow leading him to the other side of the patio.

"Word is out. Do you think you need to call your mom?" Rory asked.

"No, I will just wait for her to call me. She is still upset after our talk last Sunday." Logan said.

"Honor was asking me about it earlier. She has been avoiding her calls all week." Rory said.

"Well when everyone leaves, maybe Honor and Josh can sit down with us so I can tell her what was discussed." Logan said

"Sounds like a plan. I will let you get back to the guys. Put a shirt on. You will cause one of those moms to have a stroke." She said as she walked off. She would swear she saw his head swell. That's all she needed was for him to have an ego boost.

Rory had not been in the pool like Logan, but she was wearing her black one piece* with a white waist tie cover up.**

Honor and Lane were helping Rory clean up while Gigi and Matthew were getting all the kids out of the pool, dried off, changed and ready for parent pick up. Lorelia and Luke left early. Lorelia tells Rory Luke had to get back to the diner. Emily stayed. They would make a stop on Nantucket before going to the Vineyard.

GIgi and Matthew volunteered to take Tori, Harper and Mitchell to get ice cream. Joshua, being the ripe old age of 12, didn't come to the party. He told his parents he was too old for a baby's party. He stayed home.

Honor, Josh, Rory and Logan sat at the dining room table. Emily was up stairs reading.

"Well," Honor asked.

"When I got there, I entered without ringing the bell. That went over like a lead balloon.

"Mom," Logan said when he found her by the pool.

"Logan, I didn't hear the doorbell," Shira said.

"I know, I didn't ring it." Logan told her.

"Logan, I know I raised you better than to just walk in a person's house." Shira said as she stood up and grabbed her wrap. "Would you like something to drink?" She said as she walked to the drink cart.

"No, thank you." He said holding up his bottle of water. "Mother, I hope you don't believe what you just said. You didn't raise me. I was raised by Martsa. That is until Honor got her license, someone decided I didn't need a nanny. I was 11 years old, my sister had a car so she was no longer around, then my only other person that had anything to do with left. My two best friends spent the summer away." Logan just shook his head. Why was he trying to explain to her? She would never understand how an 11 year old could be devastated.

"Anyway, I didn't come here to talk about my nanny. Can we go to the office?" Logan said. He turned to walk back into the house. He didn't wait for her to answer.

When they got to the office, Logan took a seat behind his father's desk. He sighed. "Mother, I am not out to hurt you or make your life difficult, but I want to discuss building you a House by the pond on the west side of the property. I will even build you a drive so you don't have to come back by the manor."

Shira started to speak, but Logan cut her off. "I will give you the deed to the House, and a living estate agreement. You will be able to live there as long as you want. When you move it will revert back to the estate."

This time she was ready when he paused. "Logan, I will not be leaving the manor. That is my home. That's it. Final." She said and stood up to leave.

"Mother." Logan said. "Can you just listen to me? Let me finish."

"Why, I am not moving." She said,

"The House will be 2000 sq ft. You will have a say on the design, inside and out. All the floors, fixtures, everything." Logan said.

She stopped, turned to him. "Logan, you don't understand, I am not moving."

"SHIRA, Sit down." Logan said. He shook his head. He wanted to look around and see where that had come from. I sounded just like his father.

Shira walked to the sofa in the office and sat down. She had never heard Logan sound like Mitchum.

"I am just going to lay out the facts. You listen, then we can discuss this." Logan said. Shira nodded her head.

"This house, property, everything inside and out belongs to me." Logan said. "You are aware of this. You were married to Mitchum for many years. I know you were young and naive when you signed the prenup. I also know that you and Mitchum had it amended after Elias died. The amendment to the prenup gave a lot more that the original one. I even added to it. I feel that I am being very generous."

Shira didn't say anything. She stared at a spot above Logan's head.

"You can have any funerture that is not family heirloom, that goes for jewelry also." He said. He got up and walked to stand in front of her. "Honor and her family will live in the manor. She will be remodeling." Shira nodded her head. At least she was listening.

"Mom" Logan said as he sat next to her on the sofa, "I need you to find you a lawyer. You can not pay for your lawyer with any of the funds I provide. It will be a conflict of interest. Do you understand?" Logan asked.

Shira stood up, bushed off the front of her wrap, "I am not stupid. I have my own lawyer, he will be contacting you." She said, then walked out the door.

"Well" Josh said

"Yeah," Rory said.

"I talked to her lawyer. Gave him the contact to my lawyer. He is setting up a meeting." Logan said. He turned to Josh. "Honor needs to be represented, I will leave that up to you."

Josh nodded.
