Chapter 48

The rest of June passed by pretty quickly. Rory spent a good number of days at her office uptown. She was hoping not to have to come back until after vacation. She and Logan met several times with their accountants and financial advisers. Tori was spending a lot of time with Lorelai in Stars Hollow. Rory gave Kenzie the rest of June and all of July off. Sara would be coming in twice a week just to make sure everything is okay at the house.

It was Sunday night. The Huntzburger-Gilmore had a wonderful weekend. The three of them went to the zoo, had a picnic, swam in the pool, and just had fun all weekend. Logan had just got back from dropping Tori off at Lorelai. She would stay with her until Wednesday. The day they leave for the Vineyard.

Rory was running around, trying to get clothes washed, packed, making lists of things to buy when they got to the island. Logan rented a car for them to have for the month so they could fly in.

"Hey, Slow down," Logan said. Grabbing her by the wrist.

"If you want clean boxers, you better let me put the clothes in the dryer." She told him.

He let go of her hand. "Yes, finish the laundry. I don't want dirty boxers." Logan laughed.

She stopped and smiled at him. "Let me finish this load and I will stop for the night." She told him. He smiled back at her as he pulled his ringing phone from her pocket.

"Hello," Logan said, answering the phone.

"Logan," Honor said. She sounded in a panic.

"Honor, calm down. What is wrong?"

"Are you alone?" Honor asked.

"Rory is in the laundry room. What is it?" Logan was getting frustrated with Honor. She was always dramatic. You never know when there is a real problem.

"Rory doesn't have a dress." Honor whispered.

"Okay," Logan whispered. "Why are we whispering?"

"Logan," Honor continued. "She doesn't have a wedding dress."

"Oh," Logan said. "Well, what do you suggest?"

"Maybe the girls could all meet us in Boston to help her find a dress for the engagement party. We will convince her it has to be white. Oh, Logan, will she be mad she didn't get a proper dress to be married in?" Honor asked.

"No, she will be fine." Logan said. "She is not materialist. She won't care."

"I sure hope not." Honor told him.

He discounted the call as Rory entered the room.

"One more thing and I can sit and enjoy a movie." She told him.

Before she knew it, Frank and Logan were loading the SUV with the luggage.

"Ace, how much longer? I told the pilot 12-12:30 take off." he said looking at his watch.

"I'm just straightening up. We are waiting on Lorelai." She said, She then looked at her watch. It was 11:45. "I'll call her." she fished her phone out of her pocket.

"Never mind." Logan said as Lorelai's jeep pulled in the gate.

It wasn't long before you could hear Tori making her way into the house. "Mommy," She yelled.

"I'm right here, no need to yell." Rory said.

"Are we going to the yard?" Tori asked. "Can I go swimming when I get there? Did you pack my mermaid swimsuit? I don't need my pubble jumpers. I can swim now." She told her.

"Puddle jumpers" Rory corrected her. "I packed them just in case you wanted to rest awhile." She looked at Lorelai. "You would think she never gets to swim at home."

"I know, She wanted to swim last night at the spa." Lorelia said.

"Did y'all swim last night?" Rory asked. Things have been a little weird between them since Tori's birthday.

"No, Luke bribed her with ice cream." She said, She was looking out the front door. It was still open as Logan loaded the last of the bags. "So Frank's taking you to the airport?"

Rory sighed. "Yes he is. Would you like for me to make arrangements with him to pick you and Luke up and take you to the airport when you fly over for the 4th and the engagement party?"

"Uh, No," Lorelia said. "I don't think I could talk Luke into it. I almost didn't talk him into letting Logan fly us over."

"Now, If it's going to cause a problem, you can fly commercial or you can drive." Rory said. Logan has just walked in the door. He missed most of the conversation, but sounds like Rory had it under control.

"Are you going to be okay flying with Dad and Jennifer? Gigi may come too." Rory asked.

"Yes, Luke nor I have a problem with Chris and Jennifer and you know I love Gigi." Lorelai said.

Logan touched his watch, looking at Rory. She nodded. "Mom, the plane is waiting." She hugged her.

"Okay, Okay, I'm going. Mumkin, come give me a kiss before you leave." Lorelai said. Tori ran to her and hugged her. "Be good for Mommy and I will see you in a few weeks." She let go of her and Logan led her to the car to be put in. "Call me when you land?"

"Yes, I will and I will talk with you again before the plans are finalized for the 4th." Rory told her.

Rory and Tori were settling in on the plane while Logan and Frank loaded the plane. While Rory was getting her tablet out, Tori was setting hers up to watch a movie. The flight over would be about 45 minutes, but they had to wait for their time to take off, then they would have to wait for a gate when they got to the Vineyard. They will be at the house in less than an hour and a half.

"Daddy," Tori said. When Logan boarded the plane. "How long will it take?"

"Just a hop and a skip." He told her. He sat down across the aisle from Rory and Tori. Tori had the window seat. "I know we are going to be there for a month, but you do know there is a washer and dryer?" Logan asked Rory.

"Hush you." She said, "You live with two girls now. Lots of luggage is expected. We don't know what we will feel like wearing until we wake up."

"Yeah," Tori told him. "We you girls. We need to look pretty."

"Yes, Yes you do." Logan said. "Have I told my girls that I love them today?"

As soon as they could unbuckle, Rory unbuckled and her and Logan moved to the table.

"See what you think of this." Rory said, handing him her tablet.

"Well, I have a few questions." He said. She nodded. "Is Emily going to be comfortable out in the pool house with mom?"

"Well, I will talk to her about it. I will explain that it is just for sleeping. She would be in the main house the rest of the time." Rory told him.

He nodded. "What about Gigi and Matthew? Is Chris okay with that?"

"He is renting them an apartment next semester. Besides, the boys will be up there. Those beds are too small for two people." She said,

"I can remember sleeping on a twin size bed with you a time or two. We made it work." He said. Winking at her.
