Chapter 51
The fireworks were great. After the big show the island put on, the kids, big and small, shot off bottle rockets and sparklers.
Tuesday morning arrived. Honor was up early. She was taking Shira to the airport. They needed to get her out of their hair before she embarrassed the family.
When she returned, everyone was up. Not a lot going on, just lazing around. This was vacation after all. Chris and Luke are meeting with the realtor. Luke wants to be there when they do the inspection. Because the buyer and renter are the same people, the inspection could be set soon. They planned it close to the engagement party so Luke wouldn't have to take any more time off.
Rory walked into the office where Logan, Honor and Gigi were stopped talking when she walked in.
"I'm sorry," She said. "Am I interrupting anything?"
"No, Ace," Logan said.
"We were just discussing the trip to Boston." Gigi said.
"I will pay for my own dress Logan." Rory said. She knew he was telling Honor to take his card and pay for it.
"Fine by me. It's going to be our money when we get married." Logan said.
"Speaking of getting married." Rory said. "Have you thought about setting a date?"
"Yeah, But I want to wait until after the engagement party. I don't want to listen to people that have a conflict on that day and try to change our minds." Logan told her.
"Okay." She said, but she didn't buy it. "Well, I was looking for you to tell you the guys are leaving."
Logan stood up. "Okay," He said, following her out. But not before giving Honor a look saying we will finish this later.
Everyone with the exception of Honor and her family and Logan, Rory and Tori.
Wednesday morning, Honor and Rory took Harper and Tori to day camp at the club. They also arranged for a certified Nanny to bring them home and stay for the remainder of the day.
When they got back to the house. Josh was leaving to go back to the mainland. His time would be spent between the island and mainland for the rest of the month. He didn't have the privilege of working remotely. He had clients to meet.
"Hey," Rory said standing in the office door. We hired a certified nanny to bring them home and stay with kids for the rest of the day. She is CPR certified as well as a certified lifeguard."
Logan looked up from his computer. "Whatever you want. I defer to you and Honor." He said. "What are your plans for the rest of the day?"
"I got a few things to do this morning, but my afternoon is clear." She told him. "You working all day?" She asked.
"I was planning on it. If I work all day today, I can take tomorrow afternoon off and be off all weekend." he told her. "I want us to take Tori on the yacht this weekend."
"Okay, that sounds like fun." She told him.
Honor worked on the engagement party/wedding. While Rory did some work on her book. Joshua and Mitchell spent the morning playing video games.
It was after lunch when they heard the girls come home.
"Did you have fun?" Rory asked Tori
"Yes ma'am, can we go swimming? Ms. Heather said she can watch us in the pool." Tori was excited.
"Yes, but I want to hear about your day." Rory said.
"I had fun," Tori said as she was running up the stairs to change. The boys were already in the pool.
The same conversation was happening in the dining room where Honor had sit up camp.
"Heather, let me introduce you to Logan." Rory said. She walked her to the office.
"Logan," Rory said to get his attention. "This is Heather. She will be watching the kids some this summer."
Logan stood up and kissed Rory on the cheek. "Hey," Logan said and shook her hand. Heather looked to be about 19. "Rory tells me you are a certified lifeguard."
"Yes sir." Heather said. "I have worked summers at the club since my freshman year of highschool. That's when I got my certification. I take a refresher course every year." She started opening her wallet. "I can show you my card."
"No, that's not necessary." Rory said. "I talked to some of the staff at the club. They were not sure you would be working this summer. They said you were in high demand, but everyone else already was scheduled. We are lucky to get her."
"Yeah, I graduated college in May. It was up in the air as to where I would be teaching. I was hired by Edgewood, so I will be staying on the island."
Logan smiled. "This is what you wanted?"
She nodded. "Yes, my boyfriend is a pilot at the airport on the island. He makes the Boston run 3 times a day." Heather told them.
"Good, We are glad to have you." Logan said. "Let me introduce you to the boys, they won't be here the whole month."
Logan took her to the pool and introduced her to them. He told them she was in charge, not to give her any trouble. Rory showed her to the pool house for her to change.
Rory and Honor spend the rest of the day laying out in the sun and looking online for dresses.
