Chapter 52

Rory and Honor were scheduled to meet Gigi in Boston Thursday to shop for her engagement dress. She finally gave in when Logan told her he needed a new linen suit. He would call his tailor and she could pick it up in Boston when they went shopping.

That's how she found herself getting into a limo at Logan International Airport. She was expecting Honor and Gigi, but what she found was in addition to them, Lorelai, and Steph. Their plans were to shop at Saks Fifth Avenue. She had looked online, finding they had the best selection. Then lunch. She was so excited. She hoped Lorelai behaved herself.

Honor and Gigi talked about it and decided not to let Lorelai in on the plan for the wedding. The first stop was to find Rory a dress, then if they had time, they would all look for their dresses. Lorelai picked out a dress for Rory to tryon, So did Steph, then Honor and Gigi. After about two hours of trying on dresses, they decided to take a break.

Honor and Steph tried on dresses, while Lorelai and Rory went to look for Lorelai a dress. They walked over to Bergdorf Goodman. She tried on several dresses but Rory vetoed them all. She was picking out dresses that were too short or too flashy. Rory knew Lorelai was doing this on purpose, but Rory decided not to confront her. That is what Lorelai wanted, a confrontation.

Rory just kept vetoing. She figured if Lorelai picked out a dress that was not appropriated, she would not be to blame.

While Lorelai was trying yet another dress, Gigi found Rory. "Hey," Gigi said. "I found your dress."

"Yeah." Rory said, "what makes you think that."

"When I saw it, I just knew it was you. Then I showed it to Honor and Steph. They agreed, Come on. Let's go try it on." Gigi said, pulling at Rory.

"Wait," Rory said. "Lorelai is in the dressing room."

"I'll wait for her. Steph and Honor are in the bridal section of Saks Fifth Avenue." Gigi told her.

When Rory found Honor and Steph, you could see the excitement all over their faces. "Okay, where's the dress?" Rory asked.

"It's in the dressing room ready for you to try on. Alesha is there waiting to help you." Honor said.

By the time Rory walked out, Lorelai and Gigi had joined them. She walked out without looking in the mirror. She waited for their reaction.

"Oh, Rory." Honor said.

"Perfect," Gigi said.

"What she said." Steph said.

Rory hadn't looked in the mirror. She was waiting on Lorelai's reaction. Even though Rory and Loreleai had hit a bump in the road since Logan's return, Rory could still read her mother. She could tell she wanted to like it, but something was holding her back.

"Mom?" Rory asked.

"It looks great on you Kiddo." She said, "But that's a wedding dress."

Gigi, Honor and Steph all started talking at once. "Not necessarily," "No, it looks like a summer cocktail dress." "We can have it hemmed if it is too long."

"Why don't you turn around and look at yourself in the mirror." Alesha said, guiding her to the platform. "Now, what do you think?"

"I like it." Rory said. You could hear a cheer go up.

"If you would like, I can get the seamstress in here to take it up a little in the waist." Alesha said.

While the seamstress was marking the adjustments, Gigi and Honor both headed to Berdorf Goodman to try on dresses. Gigi found a Denim Lace Mini that Steph said she just had to have. Honor found a green scoop neck cocktail that flattered her, but was also respectable for a mom.

When the limo dropped her back at the airport, she was ready to get back to Logan and Tori.

Friday morning, Rory, Logan and Tori took the yacht out. They stayed out most of the day. Logan and Tori swam from the anchored yacht while Rory sunbathed. She wanted to get a tan before her party/wedding.

Saturday morning they woke to rain. Honor and Harper delayed their arrival until Sunday. Gigi also arrived Sunday. She was opening up the house next door that Chris and Lorelai were renting.

Monday morning they hit the ground running. Logan was working most of the time, trying to stay ahead so he would be able to take time off after the wedding. He was also busy renting a yacht big enough to hold the reception. Honor is handling the catering. The party/wedding planner is meeting with Honor Tuesday while Rory and Logan go to Boston to pick up her dress. Honor warned Logan not to look at it. Rory didn't know this was her wedding dress, but Honor convinced her that Logan should be surprised.

While Honor was on the mainland, she bought Harper and Toni matching dresses for the wedding. She let the girls try on the dresses for Rory before the party/wedding.

Thursday afternoon, the family began to arrive. Her parents and Step-parents arrived first. They flew in on the Hayden Jet bringing Emily, Gigi and Matthew. Josh and the boys arrived after lunch bringing Shira with them.

Lane, and her family as well as Paris and her family would be arriving the day of the party. Colin, Steph, Finn and his date would also be arriving Saturday. They would all be spending the night. Logan arranged for himself and Rory to spend the night on the Yacht.

Including the Bride and Groom there would be a total of 30 people. Rory was working on a sleeping chart, putting as many in the loft dorm as they could. They had enough room using both houses and the pool house.
