Prologue: Where the Rose Petals Fall

Aki was recovering from the injuries she received while at the Arcadia Movement since the Dark Signer's attack. She didn't understand what Misty had meant when she had dueled her and there was no way to ask Sayer now since he was dead as far as she knew.

If it hadn't been for Yusei and his determination she wouldn't be alive. He was also the reason she was able to reconcile with her parents after all the trauma each of them faced due to her powers. But, ever since the attack and her recovery process she had these horrible nightmares. Like something was pulling her to Satellite.

She never spoke of this dream to anyone and she wanted answers. She didn't dare tell her parents nor did she think to ask Yusei about it. She decided it was best if she kept it to herself. She had to find a solution to the mystery on her own. She had agreed to meet Rex Goodwin only because she knew if she went to Satellite she would find the answers she was seeking about her dream.

It was upon entering Satellite that the feeling became more intense. She felt a shiver down her spine that she didn't know how to explain. She brushed it off like it was nothing and went to bed shortly after their dinner with Martha and the kids. The dream started up again as she was in a deep sleep.

She found herself inside an old building near what looked like the old arc reactor just as Rex had described. She stood there confused as she touched the glass feeling the immense raw energy from within. She suddenly sensed a presence behind her and turned around rather quickly. The presence was rather intimidating and felt very strong as it began to walk towards her. Everything in her told her to run, but her body wouldn't move.

Once the being was upon her she could sense it was a man. He gently cupped her face as he whispered into her ear. "Do you want to know what it feels like to be bitten by spider fangs?" She froze as she felt his lips on hers and then she woke up gasping for air. She didn't scream as she felt the intense shiver down her spine again. She wasn't sure what that meant but it felt all too real.

She suddenly noticed the feeling was much stronger. She got dressed only to discover that there was a man talking to Yusei and the others. He must be a Dark Signer. She thought this to herself as they locked eyes. It was then the shiver felt the most unbearable. She followed Yusei and watched him duel this Dark Signer who called himself Roman. The duel was a tragic one as Roman had bailed out halfway through the duel to trade places with Rally.

Once the duel had ended this was when the Signers and Dark Signers met face to face. She watched as they all left and followed the Signers at a safe distance. This was when she stopped in her tracks as she felt the pull again. Someone or something was calling her name. She waited until Yusei and the others were out of her line of sight as she then turned in the direction Roman and the others left in.

She walked for quite some time, before coming across a big hole in the ground which she guessed was the old arc reactor. She went in to investigate and came across it feeling that intense energy again. Her hand touched the glass just like in her dream.

"You shouldn't be here, Black Rose."

She whirled around as she saw that the presence she had sensed in her dreams had been Roman all along. "I came here to find answers. I had a dream about this place and about you. I want to know what it means." She stood her ground as everything in her told her to run just like in her dream.

Roman came towards her as he had been having feelings that she might come. He wasn't sure why she would need to be here. He got close enough to cup her face as he felt something take over. All the Dark Signers had needs and it had been years since he desired anyone.

Roman was shocked to hear this and began to wonder if this was who he thought this was… after almost 20 years did she come back to him reincarnated as Aki. He had to know and he set her on what was left of the desk nearby.

"We might have Aki dear. Years ago." Roman whispered. "The venom should be working now."

She went into the bathroom and silently cried. She had to know why she wanted Roman so badly. Why did she want him by her side? She decided she would find her answers tomorrow and she would learn the truth of what the connection was to her and Roman.
