As night descended upon the forest, casting a blanket of darkness over the landscape, Johnny Cage stirred from his unintended slumber. He felt something nudging him.

' What's going on.' He thought as his senses started to return.

With a groan, Johnny opened his eyes, his vision adjusting to the dim moonlight filtering through the trees.

The gentle nudge of the deer's nose against his side roused him, a silent reminder that he had fallen asleep, if only briefly.

' Fuck.' He thought, realizing he must have fallen asleep.

He could feel the throbbing pain in his head, a relentless reminder of the bullet lodged in his temple. His left eye was still obscured by dried blood, making it difficult to see clearly.

The deer, ever-present in its quiet support, nudged him again, urging him to reach his feet.

Johnny mustered a weak smile and reached to pet the deer's soft fur. His touch was gentle despite the pain that radiated through his body.

" Alright... Alright..." Johnny whispered hoarsely to the deer, his voice barely above a whisper, " I'll get up..."

With a deep breath, Johnny pushed himself into a sitting position, his muscles protesting with each movement. The spikes of pain in his head intensified, causing him to wince, but he pushed through the discomfort, his gaze fixed on the path ahead.

Slowly, tentatively, Johnny got to his feet, his legs trembling with the effort. The deer stood by his side, a silent companion in the darkness. Johnny's progress was slow and unsteady with each step, his head pounding with each heartbeat.

As Johnny trudged through the night, his strength waned with each passing moment. Every step felt like a monumental effort, his body weighed down by exhaustion and pain. He coughed, and the metallic taste of blood filled his mouth, a grim reminder of his internal injuries.

Leaning heavily against a nearby tree, Johnny struggled to catch his breath. The night air felt cold against his skin, sending shivers through his weakened form.

But in the distance, he spotted something that sparked a glimmer of hope, a faint glow of headlights illuminating an open road.

A faint smile found its way to Johnny's beaten face. There is hope.

With renewed determination, Johnny pushed himself forward, his eyes fixed on the distant road. The prospect of flagging down a passing car spurred him on, a ray of hope in the darkness surrounding him.

Each step was a struggle, his body protesting with every movement. He kept a hand pressed against his aching stomach, trying to ease the pain that radiated from within. The other hand hung limp by his side, his fingers barely able to curl into a fist.

Reaching the road's edge, Johnny looked both ways, trying to figure out where to go. Since he wasn't sure, the actor picked a random direction and started walking."

" Here we go..." Johnny whispered, hoping that he'd find help.

Johnny didn't know how long he had walked. All he knew was that his legs and feet felt like they would fall off. But he knew a car would pass by eventually.

And he was right.

Out in the distance, Johnny could make out another set of headlights. The actor saw an opportunity to try to get the driver's attention. Johnny raised a weakened hand above his head and waved it back and forth.

" Hey... Hey..." The actor tried to shout. But in reality, his voice was raspy and weak.

The headlights grew closer and closer.

Johnny continues his efforts to get the driver's attention, " Please... I need help..."

But the car doesn't intend to slow down, which causes Johnny's heart to sink.

" Help... Help..." Johnny tried again to no avail.

The car drove past without a glance, leaving Johnny feeling defeated and alone.

" No... No... No..." Johnny's hoarse voice raises in frustration, " Goddammit!"

Johnny's arms drop in defeat. He sank to the ground, his back against a sturdy tree trunk, his eyes half-opened and unfocused, " goddamnit..."

Time seemed to blur as Johnny sat there, his mind drifting in and out of consciousness. The pain in his head intensified, a relentless drumbeat that echoed in his ears. He fought to stay awake and hoped that someone would aid him.

But as the night wore on and the forest's silence enveloped him, Johnny's strength ebbed away, leaving him slumped against the tree, his eyes heavy with fatigue.

This was it. Johnny Cage was about to die alone in these woods.

He whispered a prayer for salvation, his voice barely a whisper in the vast emptiness of the night.

As Johnny's eyelids grew heavier and the battle to stay awake became more complex, he refused to succumb to the darkness that threatened to engulf him.

Just as the actor was about to give up hope, he saw another set of headlights in the distance. These headlights looked much bigger than the last set he saw.

The distant headlights grew brighter, drawing closer with each passing moment. It was a semi-truck, its massive form cutting through the night like a beacon of hope.

Summoning the last reserves of his strength, Johnny tried to push himself from the tree. Unfortunately, his efforts were unsuccessful.

Johnny lifted a weak hand, his fingers trembling as he attempted to catch the driver's attention. "P-p-please... s-see... m-m-me..."

But his efforts were futile. His hand barely left the ground before dropping back down, defeated by exhaustion.

Unbeknownst to Johnny, the deer that had been his silent companion throughout his journey darted onto the open road, its hooves pounding against the pavement.

The semi-truck driver, startled by the deer's sudden appearance, slammed on the brakes, bringing the massive vehicle to a halt with a screech of tires.

The driver emerged from the truck, a mix of confusion and annoyance on his face. " Jesus Christ! What in the hell are you doing?" He shouted at the deer, waving his arms, " Shew! Shew! Get out of the road, you stupid animal!"

But the deer, undeterred, approached the driver with a sense of urgency. It nudged the driver's leg as if trying to convey a message.

" Well, I'll be Damned." The driver, taken aback by the deer's persistence, softened his tone slightly. "What is it, little guy? What startled you?"

The deer glanced back at Johnny, still slumping against the tree at the road's edge. With a determined look, it turned back to the driver and then ran back, beckoning the driver to follow.

Deciding to comply, the driver followed the wild animal. But he never thought of what he might find. The deer had led him to Johnny, who's slumped against a tree. " Jesus, Maryanne Joseph." He was shocked at what he saw.

"Hey, buddy, you okay?" he called out, concern evident in his voice.

Johnny struggled to open his eyes, focusing hazily on the approaching figure.

"Help..." That was the last thing Johnny was able to whisper before his eyes rolled in the back of his head, and his head dropped to his chest, losing consciousness.

" Hey. Hey!" The driver said with a sense of panic in his voice; he gently lifted Johnny's head. He used the other hand to tap the side of Johnny's bloody cheek, trying to rouse him, " Wake up. Come on! Wake up!"

But Johnny remained unresponsive.

Realizing the seriousness of the situation, the driver sprang into action. He lifted Johnny with surprising strength into a fireman's carry. Guiding the unconscious actor towards the semi-truck, the driver carefully guided Johnny into the truck. He laid Johnny down on his bed.

"Hang in there, buddy," he said to Johnny, his tone filled with reassurance. "We'll get you help."

After putting the truck in drive, he glanced at the deer, observing from a safe distance, " Thank you, little guy. You saved a life."

With that, the semi-truck rumbled down the darkened road, carrying Johnny and the deer's silent vigil toward the possibility of salvation.
