0.2. Petunia's Year Two at Hogwarts

Chapter Starts.
Abraxus Malfoy somehow didn't suffered of Dragon pox and survived to see his only son's fourth year at Hogwarts. He was one of the few persons who has joined Voldemort not much known at the time. Although he keeps everything secret from his family at present. But soon plans to recruit his wife and a bit later his son to the followers of Voldemort called Deatheaters.
Petunia's POV:
A whole month has passed after the day I came back home . Today I received a letter from Lucius . It says that he is going to USA with his family for two weeks. He is not very happy about the trip though as they are there for his father's work. He says that he misses our flying lessons. Same here. I replied that I am gonna visit Diagon alley a week before start of term.
Lily always asks me about Hogwarts , Lucius, Hogwarts, Quidditch, Hogwarts and how do I feel while performing a spell. She is kinda annoying but cute too. It has been one whole week from we last met Sev. Lils is worried but I think He and his family must have gone for a vacation.
In the evening we finally met Sev , he says that he went for vacation. I was glad to hear that until I accidentally touched his shoulder. He screamed lightly and I was sure that he has been abused again. He was reluctant to accept but later accept that his father have been beating him from his belt lately. This is why he didn't meet us the whole week. I was so angry that I took my wand and left for Sev's house but then I realised that I don't his address!! I have been friends with him for years and I don't know where he lives. And also that I can't perform magic outside the school. So I returned. Then we again started talking about Hogwarts stuff.
Only one and a half week left for my 2nd year. I am very excited for it . I have already finished all my homework and also studied a bit in advance with a book which Lucius gave me as a birthday present as he knows that I love reading.
Today Sev told that his father has lost his job and he is regularly beating him and his mother . I again suggested to complain but he refrains from it. He says that his mother still loves him and deep inside he does too. We comforted him the whole day and even invited him for dinner but he said that his mother must have already prepared it. Speaking of his mother, she does not practice magic anymore, I think because of his muggle husband. I hope things get better for Sev.
We were off to diagon alley only me and Dad as Lily is sick and mum is there too take care of her. She was very disappointed as she cannot visit Diagon alley.
"Dad I will wait here for you , you can just go and exchange the currency from Gringotts." I decided to explore Diagon alley rather than wasting my half hour in Goblin's bank. I don't like them for some reason .
'Oh my is he Lucius?' I thought seeing him at Madam Malkin's shop. He saw me and waved his hand. I waved back too. " Hi Petunia I thought you will be here somewhere and look I have found you" he said. " Yes I didn't expected to meet you here today." I replied. "Well when I read your letter I thought it will be nice to meet you here " he said smiling. Then we talked about how our summer was , and that the Quidditch world cup was held in Bulgaria and all that stuff. He says that even I can tryout for Quidditch team. 'He just said that to make me happy' I thought. Then he asked that will I be using school owl again or a new one. " Well I am getting a new owl today " I replied as I convinced daddy to buy me one . "That's great" he said . He asked about my parents, I said that Dad is in Gringotts. After almost half an hour we bid goodbye for now. When he left I saw my dad watching me. I was at Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlour as Lucius took me there for an icecream treat. I think he saw me with Lucius. " He seems nice but if he hurts you he will pay the price" said dad. " It's not like that daddy he is just my friend" I replied. " That is seen very well on your face" said dad. I saw in glass pane , I was blushing. Was this half an hour a date or something? I was lost in thoughts and before I could tell we were back at home.
I bid mum, dad and Lily farewell as I was waving my hand while the Hogwarts express was leaving the station. Then I again sat in compartment this time with Myra and Alice though. They were my best friends. Now it was difficult to talk but I finally told Alice that how I am using her family's name in front of the Slytherins and told him everything about Lucius. And I accepted the fact that yes I like him a bit. But have no idea how he feel though. Alice has no problem as long I intend to tell the truth at some point. And then we reached Hogwarts. This time we reached the castle in carriages which were moving by themselves. But then an older girl said that they are pulled by some invisible creatures called theatrals.
Then the sorting ceremony beagn. The first years were looking nervous. I remembered when I was like them too. After the feast , we were off to bed. Then the classes began , I was still the best in Transfiguration, pretty good in potions and decent in others too. The subjects were getting a bit tougher though and professors were giving us a lot more homework. The first week passed so fast that I didn't even had time to write to Lily. I will write her soon. Now it was weekend. I was just walking around when I found Lucius near the field sitting alone and seemed depressed. I just sat beside him and said nothing. He saw me but said nothing. After a while he spoke that he was upset as his father was always forcing him stuff. He was mad at him. Then he explained how his father always controls his life. He wanted to be a normal child but he can't as he is the only heir of Ancient and noble house of Malfoy and will one day become the head of house. I comforted him and asked him if he was being abused as I knew one with similar daddy issues. But he shooked his head. I realised that he is being mentally abused but can't do anything as his one wrong move will make him outcast in his own family. After a while we left for our common room and agreed to meet again tomorrow for another flying lesson.
I was again lost in thoughts. I realised that in pureblood families like Lucius's it is common to control life of their children. The son is being controlled by his own father who forcefully makes a particular mindset for the son which later becomes his own way of thinking. Then as the son has finally adopted the pureblood mindset he repeats the same with his son and same goes on for generations. In this way Lucius will become like his father someday and will do the same with his children. It was horrible to imagine him like that. But I was helpless and so was Lucius. I can't do anything for him. In these thoughts I drifted into an uncomfortable sleep.
Next day as it was Sunday , I woke up late and went to great hall with Myra. Myra left soon as she didn't do her Homework yesterday even when I told her to do so. Then it was time to meet Lucius. We met again at the Quidditch field. After the lesson I just sat on the field. He did the same. " Your father can only change your heart if you allow him to do so. " I said . He nodded. " I don't know if you will like it or not but I don't see Halfbloods and Muggleborns less than us , I think they are too wizards and witches just like us. " He seemed a bit surprised but said that it is okay to have my own opinion. I Nodded in agreement. Then we changed topics and he again asked me to tryout for the team. " Okay I will try" I said but don't know why ..." But I can't make it". " I will teach you everything" he said . Then we met whenever we got time and he trained me for tryouts. He says that I can tryout for chaser. Weeks passed like that and then finally it was day of tryouts.
I was crying alone at the library after I was unable to make for team. I just got nervous and didn't even scored one goal and just ran into first place I thought - the library. It was after a while when Lucius came there. " I failed you " I said. " No it's just okay , you can try for next year. " He said. Before I could notice I was hugging him , sobbing in his robes and muttering " I ...got ...nervous... ". He returned the hug after few seconds must be under element of surprise as it was the first time we did so. After a minute we pulled apart. " Sorry for your robes.. they got wet" I said . " It's not a problem, they are washable " he said . I chuckled a bit and so did he and soon we were laughing. Then we returned to our common rooms.
It was after that day , whenever I got free time, I just go to Library or find Lucius. We started spending more time from then. I liked it. Soon the time passed and I was back at home for the Christmas break. Lucius stayed at school as his family was out for something. I missed school very much this year and I think it is because of Lucius. Lils says that I should ask him out myself before any other girl does that. I was disappointed at the thought of it. But in my heart I was sure that even if some girl asks him out he would deny.
Again I was back to Hogwarts. Classes resumed and so does my daily schedule- take classes, do study , meet Lucius , occasionally write to Lils or Sev and rest of stuff.
The year was passing fast and within no time it was time for exams. Then I saw less of Lucius. I was relieved when it was the last exam . It was History of Magic. It is kind of boring but I like History. And now as exams were over, I thought now I could meet Lucius and found him too near the Quidditch field. Then we spent whole day talking and we finally departed to our common rooms. Days passed and again it was last day of our school. I was unable to meet Lucius don't know where he was . Must be with his friends, I comforted myself.
The same day in evening ,I was walking through corridor near girls bathroom when I saw a group of girls talking. I heard some of them , an older Slytherin girl was talking about Lucius and how she likes him. My heart sank .Was Lucius with her for the whole day. But I can't do anything as it was already time for curfew.
Narrator's Point of view:
Slytherin has won the house cup announced the headmaster. Slytherins were applauding. Although one boy was not . It was Lucius Malfoy. He was upset as now he will be back again with his father. He doesn't hate him but don't like the fact that he controls his life. His mother too never supports him. The boy is afraid of his own parents. If it wasn't the girl he met last year at the owlery, by this time he must have lost the battle of his own thinking vs his family beliefs. The boy has changed. He is no longer arrogant and mean to any muggleborn. He don't speak to them though but at least he is not bullying them. He still hates Gryffindor though that is his personal opinion and no one can change that.
Things are changing. Yesterday Daily Prophet gave the news " Mike Tilman a ministry employee missing from a week" It was the sixth incident this month involving such thing. Someone is kidnapping them. All of the missing people are reported to be muggleborns. This going from past 2 years but the numbers have been significantly increased.Ministry says that some Pureblood family may be behind it but who ? The summer of 1970 has began.
Petunia's POV:
I was sitting in the compartment with my friends but I was lost in thoughts when suddenly the door slid open and there was standing Lucius Malfoy. He asked me if I can come talk to him for a few minutes.
" My father visited me yesterday. He is with Voldemort." Said Lucius." Who is Voldemort? " I asked." He is a very Dark wizard who is now recruiting an army to control the wizarding world and even muggle world." He replied." So you mean your dad wants you to be part of army? " I asked " Yes eventually when I will be of age. But for now he wants me to be prepared for it. So he is gonna teach me dark arts this summer. " He said . " I don't want to do it but I have no option , even mum is with him ." He continued. " You just do what your father says but no need to accept his ideology. You have your own heart. And I know that you are not evil. Just be the same. " I told him. He seemed deeply touched by this. " I will , I have decided that I will defy him not completely but yes , I will never accept his ideology." he said. Then suddenly I had a thought " Why are you telling me this ?" I asked. " Because You are important for me. It has been you that I didn't fall for my father's ideology. It is because..I like you." He replied kissing me on cheek. I was dumbstruck. He likes me, I knew that deep inside. But before I could answer him, he left. I was still speechless and stood at same position rubbing the spot where he kissed me on cheek. It was after 15 minutes I realised that it was not a dream. Then I just sat back in my compartment and kept smiling the whole journey but didn't said a word. And now I was back to Kingscross. Lils is waiting for me. But I was so lost that I just stood there. So it was Lils who ran and hugged me this time. When we reached home I told Lils that Lucius likes me.
A/n: The chapter is over. Yes in canon Abraxus died way before but in this universe he did not. And also it is 1970 going on so soon Voldemort will reveal himself and do his attacks publically and finally become 'The one who must not be named.' I hope you like it feel free to ask questions.
