Back again let's dive on in
Chp 8 : F-U-N FUN
After the putrid carnage fiascoothiongs were now getting back to normal, Fairy tails master began to hold fairy tails yearly flower viewing party. Everybody was estatic all except Gajeel who was confused.
"What's the big deal with all this for a bunch of flowers?" The iron dragon noticed Juvia was looking rather blue(Huh zing). "What's your deal?"
Juvia cried tears of sadness while she sunk into a corner. "My beloved gray has left me alone." The water mage then unleashed a torrent of water hitting Gajeel. "Does he not care for my feelings at all!"
"Hey tone it down a bit will ya." Gajeel grunted.
Nab fairy tails resident mage who can't pick a job walks over. "He's a part of team Natsu so it can't be helped."
"And those three rookies haven't seen them around in a while." Said Gajeel.
"You mean Carla Zodie and Wendy, they also went with them, they brought them here to the guild so they feel obligated to show them the ropes here." Nab mentioned.
…
"S…So…cccold." Wendy whimpered as she shivered.
"I told you to bring a jacket." Zodie pointed out as he was walking close to Wendy with one of wings sprouting out wrapping Wendy to keep her warm." Zodie wore a long purple and black coat. Wendy wasn't the only one though Lucy didn't have a coat either so she kept herself boxed up inside horologium, one of her spirits which was a grandfather clock. Happy and Carla had fur so they were fine while Natsu Gray and Erza weren't affected.
The group trudged through the icy tundras walking through caves where they encountered vulcans, Erza Natsu and Gray took them down with ease while the rest stayed behind and watched. Lucy went on to explain the events of tomorrow dubbed Rainbow sakura; mainly to Wendy who was inside horologium. "Since we're all first timers, let's have fun together."
Suddenly the clock spirit disappeared leaving the girls exposed. Wendy raced over to Zodie clinging to him for warmth prompting him to sprout his wings around her. Natsu suddenly got a whiff of something off in the distance. "Ah I can smell it, it's definitely the herb."
"Have you actually ever smelled the herb before?" Carla asked, sounding uncertain.
"Nope but I got a gut feeling." Natu raced off towards the smell with Happy behind him making the rest of the group sigh.
Zodie took out a sheet of paper with the picture of the herb he then used his phoenix eye sight to look off in the distance and it was indeed the plant they were looking for. "He's telling the truth, the herbs are identical to the one in the picture."
Natsu made it to the designated spot and began picking away at the herbs. But his objective was interrupted with a large shadow casting over him making him look up.
"ROOOOOOOOAR." It was a creature called a blizzard vern the mountain variant of a wyvern that was white with gray scales. The rest of the group showed up.
"Oh man, it looks like a scale face doesn't want to share its lunch." Said Happy.
"Yeah if I recall blizardvyerns are herbivores and these herbs here are it's favorite food." Zodie said.
Gray began generating some ice into his hand. "Let's not let this thing keep our reward money, plus its scales can be sold for a good price on the market."
Erza then requiped into her lightning empress armor(Again you saw the anime yall know what it looks like). "This could get messy, you five stand back."
"No way we want in on the action too." Happy said.
"Very well we'll distract the beast while you five grab the herbs." Erza ordered.
"Yes mam." Wendy nodded.
While Gray Natsu and Erza all came at the beast their attacks were being repelled by the winged behemoth they ended nearly hitting Lucy and the others much to the blondes dismay. "Why did Erza have to give us the dangerous part of the job?" Lucy muttered under her breath. "Ok screw this i'm going in." Lucy leaped up and sprinted towards the herb and was able to acquire one, "Oh hell yeah I rock." This however did not go unnoticed to the blizzard vern who turned around and flew towards her at top speed. The celestial mage began running away screaming, "Some one help meeee!"
"Lucy, hang on." Zodie sprouted his wings and flew in, lifting Lucy up bridal style and flying away from the scaly beast. The Phoenix child flew away as fast as he could but the wyvern was too fast and was gaining on them.
"Zodie Wendy hang on, ice make saucer." Gray unleashed a disk of flying ice toward the beast but deflected it with its wing hitting Natsu.
"Hey what the hell, Frosty pulling cheap shots on me now." Yelled Natsu getting into Gray's face. They were too busy bickering; they didn't see the jolt of electricity coming toward them.
"Both of you enough they need our help, Zodie lead it back to us!"
Zodie did as ordered but he had an idea. "Lucy, hang on." The phoenix child turned and faced the oncoming beast and flapped his wings as hard as he could, kicking up heaping amounts of snow right into its eye before he flew out of its way.
"Ready you two." Erza charged up a bolt of electricity and fired at the beast along with Natu;s stream of fire and Gray's shards of ice striking the dragon-like creature down. Zodie safely landed and set Lucy down.
"Wow Zodie, that was awesome." Started Happy. "You must be wicked strong if you can lift Lucy, she's as heavy as a hippo."
This made Lucy mad, making her kick the blue feline.
"Well looks like we're done here, let's round these up and hey, we can even take some for bingo prizes tomorrow."
"That's not a good idea. They wilt when they are in a warm environment for too long." Said Zodie, earning him looks. "This was in the handbook. Did no one read through it?"
It was now the day of fairy tales highly anticipated flower viewing party. And nobody was more excited than Lucy herself. (Author's note, Lucy wont be sick). She had brought cookies for everybody to enjoy; well almost everyone unfortunately for their resident phoenix slayer he had caught a cold. Wendy and Carla were currently standing in his room with Zodie in pajamas under the covers. Wendy had performed her healing spell on him but he wouldn't be healed the next day.
"There's plenty of food in your fridge so you won't go hungry and Lucy made you these cookies, I'm really sorry about this." Wendy said. "You want us to stay with you?"
"No no, you girls go have fun, perhaps you can show me what's happening with your communication lacrima."
"That's a great idea that way you won't miss anything."
"Then we'd better get a move on child so we don't miss anything." Carla spoke up.
With That the girls made their leave to the park. Natsu nearly ate the whole batch but he was reprimanded by Erza. As the rest of the guild sat under the cherry blossom tree, from atop a platform Mira requested everyone's attention.
"So Zodie's sick huh poor kid." Said Natsu.
"Yes and he won't get better till tomorrow." Said Carla.
"So we came prepared." Wendy took her communication lacrima and Zodie's face appeared.
"Hey guy's."
"Oh Zodie, sorry you can't be here in person." Said Lucy.
"It's all good, this is as good as it's gonna get." Then the master got everyone's attention.
"Alright everyone, time for our annual bingo competition." She took out a bingo sheet and master makarov walked up next to her.
"This year's line up of prizes are worth your wild, so give it your all!"
"What're the rules?" Asked Wendy.
Happy walked up to them. "It's simple on the score card you have to punch the numbers out to make holes, the caller will call out a number and we have to punch out the said number, if you get five in a row then it's a bingo."
"So it's like a game of chance wow so this can be anybody's game."
"Ok if everyone is ready let's go for the first spin." Makarov activated the lacrima causing the device to spin rapidly before landing on a number.
"24"
"Yeah baby I'm in the lead." Cheered Cana.
"5"
"Manly." Elfman howled. Gray was freaking out because he hadn't gotten a single number so far while Wendy already had two.
Lucy had shot up from her seat. "Bingo." Mira rang a bell. "Perfect out first winner."
Lucy ran up to the front with glitter in her eyes. "OMG OMG OMG, so what do I win?" Mira giggled and brought out a metal cage which held a gribble which the cait shelter trio recognized.
"Your very own gribble isn't it just the cutest?" Mira asked.
Lucy began to shudder from sheer disappointment. "But my apartment doesn't allow animals!" She cried curling up into a ball.
"Mira alright then next number."
"68"
"Yeah I got bingo." Cana stood up victoriously while Natsu barked angrily. "This is a load of bull. I don't have one lousy number, hey ice boy trade with me."
"Not in your life hot head." Gray said.
"Hell you call me popsicle head." The two broke out into a fight which made them hit the communication lacrima impairing Zodies vision.
"Hey guy's, guys, turn it around, I can't see anything!" Erza kindly grabbed the lacrima and faced it the right way then went over to reprimand Natsu and Gray on their behavior.
"Knock it off you chuckleheads, you're making me lose my concentration and mama needs herself a prize dammit!" Said Erza.
"115"
"Bingoooooooooo." Erza Levy Juvia and Elfman shouted.
"Well that's the first four all at once." Makaroc said, holding his chin. "Let's have a tie breaker Mira."
The white head took out two tickets. "The prize will be a trip to akane resort for three days and two nights."
"Akane resort oh hell yeah I'll get it as a gift for my sister." Said Elfman.
"Two nights alone with my icy hunk it's too good to be true." Juvia began blushing as steam came from her ears.
"Perfect another chance to show off my talents!" Said Erza with a fire in her eyes, determined to win.
Little while later at sunset.
"You know I wont say I'm surprised that Erza won that whole thing." Said Gray.
Juvia began to cling to Gray's arm as she cried. "Gray my darling please forgive me!" The ice wizards' sweat dropped.
Titania did an impressive sword display making them dance around in a beautiful way. Elfman was just flashing his muscle which got a huge complaint from the moms of little children, along with angry fathers and boyfriends whos's daughters and girlfriends were swooning over his manly muscles. Levy decided to sit out because she couldn't come close to a draw when taking on Erza in a talent match.
Night time at Zodies home
"And one of the dad's actually complimented Elfman on his muscles, then he took his shirt off and began to flex along with him." Said Wendy as she told Zodie about the talent competition. The phoenix child couldn't hold back a laugh. "And also Erza got these for us." The sky maiden handed her friend a ticket to akane resort.
"No way!"
"Yeah she felt bad about the whole fog incident so she wanted to make it up to us."
"That's nice of her I can't wait, anyway it's getting late you two oughta head home."
"Well actually." Wendy ran into the hallway and brought out a sleeping bag and her own pajamas. "We decided to bunk with you tonight, you had to stay here all by yourself and you're much better now so the least we can do is keep you company."
"Like old times." Said Carla.
"Thanks guy's." For the rest of the night the kids stayed up talking and reminiscing about their past lives back in cait shelter and their previous adventures with fairy tail.
Part 2: Race
At south gate park all fairy tail members arrived, appearing in front of Makorov along with Mira and Jason; the popular reporter for sorcerer weekly.
"Cool, it's that time of the year folks! Fairy tail's annual grand race, me Jason will be your commentator. "Here's our champion Jet, the titleholder for our grand event, rumor has it that this race is his compensation for being weak hence the phantom lord attack."
"Hey man, not cool!" Jet barked.
"Chillax flash it's only a rumor."
"Hope speedies are ready to lose that title because this year is gonna be salamander." Said Natsu.
"Talkin big is only gonna make ya lose moron." Gajeel remarked.
"Yeah well this moron has a secret weapon."
"This is exciting. I wonder where we'll be running to." Said Wendy.
"Won't matter, I can just fly and win this." Said Zodie.
"I'm pretty sure that's cheating." Said Carla.
"First I read about last year's event and plenty of folks used flying magic, second Carla you gotta agree with me those tiny legs of yours won't really get you anywhere quick enough." The phoenix child said.
Lucy had just watched Cana downed a whole barrel of booze. "Oh man everyone is really revved up for this."
"Yeah nobody wants to end up in last place because then Makorov put them through a pretty intense punishment. Happy said.
"I'm sorry WHAT!" Said Zodie Wendy and Lucy in unison.
"All right everyone, quiet down."
Everyone gave the master their attention who was standing on a wooden platform.
"As a Fairy Tail wizard mages are built by strength, as well as the conditioning of the body. You'll need to utilize them for this year's competition, the rules are simple, you will travel to Mt. Ivor where you'll receive wyvern scales. Your goal is to get one and make it back here. Quitting is not an option."
"Seems easy I can fly up there no problem and be back." Said Zodie smuggly.
"As for rule two the use of flying magic is strictly prohibited." Zodie Happy and Evergreen didn't quite like the sound of that.
"Or not, that's ok good thing I already carbo load before the race." Zodie said.
"And lastly whoever is unfortunate enough to come in last will face the most horrendous punishment game i've devised." Zodie, Wendy, Lucy Gajeel and Lucy all had freaked out looks on their faces.
"I swear the old man only put this shindig on just to punish us." Macao complained.
"Don't be a sissy, if just one person is punished then don't come in dead last." Gajeel said.
"Okay okay okay let's get this race underway, runners line up." Jason yelled.
All members lined up at the starting line, Jet grew a smug grin on his face. "Hey newbies watch my blazing start."
"I wouldn't get too excited guy's, you'll see what I mean soon." Levy said.
"READY." Master fired a blast of magic. "GO!"
"Lightening staaaaaaart!" Jet then blasted off leaving everyone in the dust.
"See what I mean." Said Levy. Everyone else started running and Natsu was in second place using his fire as a speed booster. The caitshelter trio began their jog leaving Lucy and Levy behind. "Crap Lulu we'd better haul ass!"
"Looks like were each eachother rivals today best of luck ladies." Said Zodie as he ran ahead; with Zodie being more fit.
"Y…yeah to you as well." Said Wendy.
"Oh wow and to nobody's surprise Jet is in the lead ." Yelped Jason. "And right behind him is Natsu in second, Mira. What do you have to say about the current situation?"
"Um well for starters Jet's so fast we can't even see him." All the lacrima visions could see were dust being kicked up by the speedster.
"Ah yeah checkered flag here I come." As Jet was speeding his way through when something shot from out of the ground kicking up sand. "What the hell!" Now emerged right in front of him was a massive creature with hooved feet, horns and long, pointy gray-furred ears. Sporting ragged fit clothing. "What is this thing?"
"Uh oh, it looks like we have a guest at our party." Commented Jason. Master began to smirk. "Oh yeah I forgot to mention I implemented some obstacle courses in this year's race, just to make things more interesting, say hello to the sand beast."
The said creature then puts its hands together and stir up a massive sand storm. "Ah crap the old man aint pulling his punches this year!" Said Natsu who came to a stop.
"Ah man I can't see anything." Whined Zodie.
Wendy had caught up to him. "I got this everyone, sky dragon rooooooaar." Wendy unleashed a stream of wind that was nearly strong enough to blow the storm away leaving enough for the guild to get through.
"Thanks Wendy I think everybody owes you one." Zodie said.
Now with the sand storm cleared Jet resumed his spot in first place. Everyone was hindering one another with the use of their magic, Gray using his spells to make an ice floor so others will fall. Fried used his enchantments to trap people, he tried to do it with Erza but the red head left him surrounded by multiple swords. Zodie was nowhere to be seen; he figured he could use his invisibility to hide and surprise attack people.
Back at the guild the commentators noticed there was movement from Mt. Ivor.
"Alright alright folks we got movement going on on Mt. Ivor with Jet in the lead to nobody's surprise."
"Okay, the first scale is mine." Before Jet could set a foot on the summit a large rock came rolling down towards him. "Oh crap." He swiftly moved out the way. A lacrima drone had Makorov's laughter come from it. "Obstacle two let's see you kids make it up to the summit while facing massive rocks." Natsu eventually came to a stop after running out fire then moving out of the way; all he could do now was dodge since he didn't have enough power.
"Oh man, the ole timer has finally lost it." Suddenly another boulder came towards him which caught him by surprise. Luckily Gajeel came in and bashed the rock with his club spell. "Wow metal head, you just saved me."
"Yeah don't get used to it , I wanted to hit you instead, but I'm not one for cheap shots." Said the iron dragon as he made his way up.
"Oh man this is crazy." Whining Happy, a massive boulder cam barreling towards Happy, the blue cat shuddered out of fear when Zodie came in and scooped him up and got him out of the way and continued up the slope till he reached the top.
"You alright, Happy?"
"Yeah all good thanks man." Zodie climbed up to the top and grabbed a wyvern scale for himself and Happy. "Oh Zodie thanks."
"No prob, good luck and be careful." Zodie began his descent back down the slope.
Back with Wendy and Carla now holding their own Wyvern scales had made it down the slope and were on their way back to the finish line. "This was crazy, a wild sand storm, massive boulders. I'm scared the worst has yet to come." Said Carla.
"Hopefully it has. I just hope Zodie's okay."
"Alright alright alright folks here we are in the second half! Let's check on our contestants!" The lacrima cameras began their tracking. "First off, we have Gajeel and Erza neck in neck along with others right behind them. But the question is where in the world Jet is, our cameras can't find him anywhere."
"Perhaps he's just too fast for our lacrima to track him." Said Mira.
With Zodie the phoenix child was a tad bit behind Erza and Gajeel Wendy and Carla caught up to him. "Hey girls how y'all doing?"
"May not be in the lead but we're in a good position to not come in last." Answered Carla.
"Ive been using my magic to put ourselves ahead of everyone else." Said Wendy.
Suddenly their talk was interrupted when a speedy gust flew past them. "What the hell." Said Zodie.
It was Jet who was lagging behind; turns out he took a cue from the hare and decided to nap. As he ran something blew from under him and it sent him backwards into a tree. "Wowwy wow! Who could've seen this coming, Makorov sir care to explain."
The short elderly man gave off a menahcil grin. "My last surprise that those knuckle heads will have to go through is a minefield; underneath are explosive lacrima, not enough power to kill you but just enough to knock you back."
"Oh come on, this is insane." Lucy whined. Natsu Gray Erza and Gajeel along with jet who had recovered were all neck in neck gunning for first place, making sure to not to trip off any mines.
"Oh man how am I gonna get through this?" Zodie thought. A jolt of memorization struck him in the back of his head, he had seen a similar scenario. "That's it, I need a board." The phoenix child looked around and then happened to notice a stray wooden board leaning against a tree. He began to use it to dig up the lacrima mines and gather them in a pile. This didn't go unnoticed to Cana.
"Hey uh kid whatcha doing there." Asked the resident liquor wizard.
"Something dangerous and very stupid." The phoenix slayer then leaped onto the pile of lacrima mines while on top of the board before he skyrocketed in the air and flew over the contestants.
"Wow mama! Zodie Mcknight is moving through the air like a rocket, he's not even using his magic, cool!" Said Jason.
Erza Jet Gajeel Natsu who were neck in neck as they noticed Zodie right above them. "I ain't losing this to a kid!" Bellowed the iron dragon.
"I wont lose my title!" Said Jet.
As the phoenix slayer came closer to the ground he slammed the board onto the ground creating a massive explosion behind him pushing Erza Natsu Gray Gajeel and Jet back forcing them to fall over. With all his strength Zodie sprinted as fast as he could nearing the finish line. Right as he was about to, Happy came plummeting down towards him and hitting the boy in the face making them both come in first.
"I…I don't believe it, new comer Zodie Mcknight and Happy have both tied for first place!" Jason yelled in excitement.
Natsu and the group were so shocked they didn't even notice Wendy and Carla running through making it in second and third place. "And here we have Wendy Marvell and her cat in second and third place!"
"What!" Natsu and Gray croaked, Erza Gajeel and especially Jet did the same thing. "Hey come on we need to haul ass!" Said Jet. But they were too late, the crowd ran over them like a massive stampede, Erza snuck across saving herself from falling in last place.
"Oh my it looks like it's not one, not two but four wizards who'll be playing the punishment game!" Said Jason.
"WHAT ARE YOU KIDDING ME!" All four men yelled. Makarov had a smug grin on his face. "Ooh this turned out well for me." Said the oldman.
"H…hey gramps any chance we can do a tie breaker." Asked Gray. Earning him a smack to the head. "No, just like in life you don't get do overs!"
"Urgh screw it! Give us whatcha got gramps." Said Natsu.
The old man pulled out a sorcerer's weekly magazine in front of them. "A sorcerer weekly magazine." Said Gray confused.
"You four numbskulls will do a super-embarrassing photo shoot for the next two weeks! And not only that but it'll be on the cover along with a one week interview!"
The guys paled out. Zodie couldn't help himself but to giggle. Jason came up to the four men. "Now if you gentlemen come with me I can get your measurements." This made the four runaway with the reporter running after them.
Happy flew up to Makorov. "Hey master, being the champion is great and all but what's our reward?" Asked the blue feline.
"You've already got a prize, being first and obtaining the title as champion. That's plenty of reward for a young lad." Said the old man.
"I…I don't get anything!" Happy fell onto Zodies shoulder with comical tears running down his face.
The phoenix gave the cat a reassuring pat. "Hey Haps if you'd like I can buy you a pretty large hunk of salmon, I happen to know a guy."
The blue feline did a one-eighty and began to hug the child out of admiration. "Oh thank you so much Zodie, take me to the goodie!" This caused Wendy and the others to laugh.
And done yogaratw607 thanks for the idea as a filler. I'm thinking of having a story where Zodie and Wendy attend Udenia academy school dance, to begin their relationship. I'd like to hear some ideas for that. Guest I've heard your request and I am one to give the fans what they want most of the time. Till next time peace.
