These chapters (33 to 36) were written first and guided the whole story about the diaries of Lily Evans and Magical Null Space. Then we'll get to what happens afterwards and in winter and spring terms 1996.
The previously published '33. Trial' chapter comes after these chapters. Apologies.

34 Chamber of Secrets / 18 December 1995This morning, the students hurried to the heated Library or returned to the warm Common Room for their house. When he left his common room only ten minutes after returning, the portrait that covered the port hole to Gryffindor Tower questioned his destination. Harry Potter smiled and explained that he needed the exercise of a long walk up and down the staircases.
The portrait nodded and fell asleep, saving her magic for the new year. Harry climbed up and up, reaching the seventh floor of the castle and vanishing from the attention of any other portraits who were bored watching the living.

Secrets of the ChamberWhen the founders selected the site for Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, the number of caves in the area had been one of the reasons they chose this location. Caves were often interconnected and provided additional hiding places for the wizards and witches when attacked by angry muggles.
Once the castle was secure and building could continue without as much worry about any attacks by muggles, Salazar Slytherin mapped out the series of caves in the area. There was a natural cave that led from the woodland that would become the Forbidden Forest into a small cavern where a natural spring provided clean water. Diverting the spring's water to the cisterns inside the castle, Slytherin kept the location of the cavern a secret. He used the goblin spell Evanesco to dig out multiple chambers, add grand pillars, statues of himself, and magical doors that opened and closed at his command – in Parseltongue. Eventually, he named the great cave as his Chamber of Secrets. The basilisk he hatched was ordered to protect the castle and its inhabitants from muggles who approached armed for war.
A thousand years later, the chamber was only a legend until a young wizard Tom Marvolo Riddle discovered it and opened it in the early 1940s. After he graduated, Riddle never gave the chamber a second thought – the basilisk was too large to be an effective weapon, and he'd never found any treasure or secret library of scrolls written by his ancestor. After the aborted return by horcrux Tom Riddle in the 1992-1993 school year, Harry Potter avoided any mention of the chamber and never walked passed the girl's loo on the second floor that hid the secret entrance.
But now in late autumn of 1995, Harry Potter used his new Occlumency skills to revise his memories of the Chamber of Secrets – the portions that appeared to be natural compared to the ones carved from the rock with the Evanesco or other gouging spell. In his mind, the young wizard built a complete image of the wizard-carved sections of the chamber.

Improved Finite IncantatemOutside the Room of Requirement, Harry walked back and forth, asking for the Lily Evans Ritual Room. After the third pass, a large double door bearing the Hogwarts' crest appeared. Opening one side, Harry stepped inside and found Dobby and a half dozen house elves waiting for him.
There was an intricate pentagram embedded in the stone floor – Harry believed the metal by Hogwarts was gold. The elves would monitor the spell this time because the Improved Finite Incantatem (IFI) that retrieved the missing order by Umbridge to send the Dementors after Harry in August left the boy unconscious for ten seconds. Dobby was concerned that the larger target – the Chamber of Secrets – would hurt his wizard.
"I was very emotional about calling back the work order, Dobby. I don't think there'll be any problems with calling back the stone. This is just returning the natural stone to the original location. I'm not planning on filling the natural cave."
"Dobby not taking any chances with Mr Harry Potter's pants! Don't want to washie-washie ten times to get clean!" the elf argued.
Nodding to accept Dobby's admonition, Harry moved to the South point of the pentagram and while chanting the IFI spell to remind magic what had been sent to Magical Null Space, he walked clockwise around the pentagram three times. He passed the East point but stopped at the point for North. There he bowed once toward the centre of the magic pentagram. Then he continued, walking passed the West point and returning to the South point again.
There Harry bowed once toward the centre of the pentagram and then began walking again, constantly reminding magic of what had been removed from the natural stone of the earth.
When Harry completed the third pass around the pentagram, he stopped at the South point, bowed once toward the centre and then began walking clockwise. He passed the West point and returned to the North where he bowed, and then continued passed the East point to the south, circling the pentagram. This time, while he walked, he asked magic to return the stone that had been sent to Magical Null Space by the spells centuries before.
When he completed the third pass around the pentagram, Harry felt lightheaded. Dobby and the other elves conjured a chair for the wizard's comfort and Dobby provided a cup of hot chocolate. The elf said, "It soon be food time in Great Halls and Mr Harry Potter must eat enoughs to put Mouths-Moron to shame!"

Proof of Concept #2Only one hour later, Potter left the Room of Requirement and made his way down the many staircases to the Great Hall in time for supper with the dozen students imprisoned at Hogwarts for the winter break. Seated at the neutral Hufflepuff table with the other students, Harry considered the other 'inmates' of his latest prison. The twelve students who had remained were all seventh-year purebloods and half-bloods who required additional revision (and tutoring) to be able to pass their NEWTS next spring. He counted five Slytherin, four Gryffindor, and three Hufflepuff students.
'I guess all the Ravenclaw students believe they'll pass,' he decided before his attention turned to the jail keepers. 'Let's see…there's Warden Dumbledore, Infirmary Matron Poppy Pomphrey, Shotgun Judas Goat McGonagall, Gardener Sprout, and Joker Flitwick. But where is Executioner Snape? Has he escaped the prison.'
He worried for a moment, 'Did the Slytherins stay to try and kill Snape?'
During the meal, there was a slight tremor in the earth. This immediately caught everyone's attention and even Dumbledore appeared to pay attention. But the tremor didn't repeat, and everyone soon forgot that it had occurred.
Potter smiled and thought, 'Proof of concept – second phase complete.'

Author's Note: the tremor resulted when part of the natural cavern collapsed with the added weight of the original stone returned. Or columns added by Salazar Slytherin collapsed. Or the carcass of the basilisk exploded after being compressed under tonnes of stone. Or half of Tom Riddle's soul departed for eternity. Take your pick.
