The camera opened on all-black and elegant-looking bedroom, complete with silk curtains, a ruffled bedspread, and a photo of a fat and grey cat on the back wall. A raven-haired girl wearing a just as black and elegant dress strode into view and took a seat on the bed, folding her hands and giving the camera a polite smile.

"Greetings," she started. "My name is Celestia Ludenberg. I have heard about this competition you were hosting and, if I am being honest, it has piqued my interest. Now, as I'm sure you are wondering: why should you accept me as a competitor?" She laughed, covering her mouth slightly with her freshly manicured hand. "Well, I have played a lot of gambling games and I like to think I've picked up a lot in the skill of trickery, as well as a great poker face. To add onto that—"

A knock at the door off to the side interrupted her, and a jovial voice rang out from the other side. "Taeko! We're going out to eat! Do you want to come with us?"

"Celestia" immediately scowled at the door, making no attempt to open it. "No, Mother," she responded dryly, "I am in the middle of something."

"It would be good for you to spend some time with the family, though. I—"

"No!" Celestia snapped, louder this time.

Her mother made a dejected sound, but footsteps could be heard leaving.

Celestia took a breath and adjusted her tie and muttered, "I can edit that out, right?" before smiling at the camera again. "Excuse moi. I'm afraid I will have to cut this audition a bit short. I truly believe I am a suitable competitor for your show, and hope you will consider choosing me. Thank you for your time."
