Izuku ran over to All Might, "You OK, All Might? That was close." All Might nodded while Aizawa looked at Izuku with intrigue.

Danny heard Kaminari and Kirishima walk up to him and Kaminari said to Izuku, "Dude, Midoriya, what was that? You swooped in and wasted that rock."

Kirishima added, "I always thought you were more of a puncher. Like Fenton here."

Izuku replied, "I am. Or, I was. It's these new soles. Hatsume suggested them, and I think they'll really up my game. Plus, Iida's been showing me how to use my body better, so my fighting style has changed. I've only just figured out what direction to go in. I still have a lot of work to do. Nothing I'd call an ultimate move yet."

Danny shook his head, "I disagree. That sure looked like an ultimate move."

All Might added, "I feel the same. Based on that kick, I'd say you're further along than you think. So, you should be ready for this test."

Aizawa walked up to All Might, "It's dangerous in here, you should be careful."

All Might sighed, "Yeah, I know. Sorry for the scare, Young Bakugo."

Bakugo replied by exploding, "You watch yourself, All Might."

Izuku asked, "You guys made improvements to your costumes, too?"

Kaminari nodded, "Yeah, I see you've noticed we look pretty awesome."

Kirishima added, "You're not the only one here with a brand new style. We've all been making changes here and there. Now's the time to upgrade, right? Other than Fenton, who upgraded earlier this year."

Danny shrugged, "I guess I had the insight early."

Kaminari said, "My new special gear is gonna blow your mind. It's a serious power boost. Wanna see? Come on, it's totally amazing."

Suddenly Vlad King entered the room with Class 1-B, "That's enough, Class A. Class B is scheduled to use this training room every afternoon."

Kaminari groaned, "Man, crap timing."

Vlad King said, "Eraser, get your kids out of our way."

Aizawa replied, "You're not trying to kick us out early when we have ten whole minutes left, are you?"

Monoma then said, "Hey, did you hear? The license exam has a 50 percent pass rate. That means your entire class might fail."

Monoma started to laugh maniacally and Kaminari asked Kendo, "Wait, is that Monoma's hero costume?"

Kendo answered, "Well, since his Quirk is Copy, he said he didn't need anything too eccentric. Just that."

Kaminari sighed, "This is him toned down?"

Suddenly Monoma stopped laughing. He then said, "But I believe both of our classes will succeed in the license exam." But his voice sounded just like Phantom's.

And Phantom then phased out of Monoma and grinned, "This guy needs some positivity in his life." Everyone giggled as Monoma growled at Phantom, who transformed back to normal.

But then Tokoyami said, "Unfortunately, his earlier observations are correct. If we're taking the same exam, then we'll crush each other. That's the hand fate has dealt us."

Aizawa then said, "And why we won't be at the same location. Our classes applied to different spots."

Vlad King added, "There are two exam days. In June and in September. And the tests are held at three different places. We don't want students from the same place fighting. We split you up. Each school has at most one class at a single location."

Monoma then shouted, "How sad we won't be able to face each other directly." He then laughed maniacally again.

Kirishima sighed, "Man. This guy is nuts."

Kaminari agreed, "Yeah, I think he's officially gone off the deep end."

Danny then gave Monoma a green glowing death stare that shut Monoma up.

Sero said, "All those other schools. Huh. Interesting. I didn't know that was the case. So we'll be facing kids from other places."

Izuku nodded, "Yeah, and on top of that, we're taking the test earlier than most other students."

Aizawa said, "That's true. Very few first years in the country try for a provisional license. In other words, the test will be made up of students who've trained longer than you, and with Quirks you don't know about. Ones that are powerful. The actual content of the exam is a mystery, but you can expect that you're going to have a rough time. Try not to get hung up about that, but keep it in mind."

"Yes, sir," the students replied.

Danny wondered if this would actually be a challenge for him, or a walk in the park.

Later that night, back at the dorms, Mina groaned, "Does this have to be this hard?"

All the girls were hanging out in the common area. Toru said, "Well, it's not called intensive training for nothing."

Momo added, "That's true. But it's strange to think there's only a week before the exam."

Toru asked, "Momo, how's your ultimate move coming?"

Momo answered, "There's something I really wanna do, but my body isn't ready yet. I need time to develop my Quirk and improve my general endurance."

Toru then asked, "How about you, Tsu?"

Tsuyu answered, "I've perfected a move that makes me even more froglike than before. I'm sure even you'd look surprised, Toru."

Toru then asked, "What's your story, Ochaco?"

But Ochaoc didn't reply. So Tsuyu tapped her on the shoulder, "Hey, Ochaco. You seem a little tense."

Ochaco gasped, then answered, "No, it's nothing. Everything's going awesome. I'm just getting started. At least, that's how I'd usually be. The thing is, recently my heart's been all stirred up about something."

Mina shouted, "It's love!"

Ochaco started to freak out, "What did you say? Glove? Shove? Dove? Never seen that one. What's that?"

Mina asked, "So, who is it? Midoriya or Iida? You're always hanging out with those two boys. And I know it's not Fenton, as we all know Momo has eyes for him."

That comment made Momo blush hard, "Mina, hush."

Ochaco said, "You've got it all wrong. That's not it, I swear." She then started to float into the air.

Toru asked, "Which one? Or someone else? Come on, spill!"

Jiro agreed, "Yeah, out with it. You know we're not gonna give up until we know. That worked on Momo."

That made Momo blush even harder.

Ochaoc replied, "I swear, it's no one! Besides, it's not like I even know anything about dating."

Tsuyu said, "It's not good to force an investigation."

Momo agreed, "She's right. More importantly, it's late. We should call it a night."

Mina groaned, "Ugh! No! I wanna hear everything! You can't just spring a hint of romance on us and expect me to go to sleep!"

Ochaco then saw something move outside. She looked out and saw Izuku was practicing his new moves while looking at his notes and mumbling to himself. Ochaco then blushed.

A week later, it was exam day. Class 1-A got on a bus and were driven to the exam site. Everyone stood with their costume briefcases, except Danny since he was technically already wearing his costume.

Jiro groaned, "Ugh, I'm getting kind of nervous."

Kaminari was nervous, "I wonder what they're gonna make us do. Ugh. What if I can't get my license?"

Aizawa then said, "Kaminari. Don't ask if you can. Say you will."

Kaminari nodded, "Right. Sure. I've got this!"

Aizawa then addressed the entire class, "If you can pass this test and get your provisional licenses, then you novice eggs will hatch into chicks. You'll be semi-pros. I expect your best." He then looked directly at Danny, making Danny gulp as he felt he was the center of attention again.

Kaminari said, "All right. I can't wait to be a heroic chicken."

Kirishima added, "Let's call out the usual, you guys. On my mark. Go Plus…"

"Ultra!" a guy from another school shouted behind Kirishima.

A student, named Seiji, who stood next to the student who shouted, Inasa, said, "You know, it's pretty rude to barge into other people's huddles like that, Inasa."

Inasa said, "What? Pardon me. I am so very extremely sorry!" He bowed with his head touching the ground. Class 1-A were shocked.

Kaminari asked, "Who is this guy? I do not trust his enthusiasm."

Jiro said, "Hey, look at their uniforms."

Sero added, "They're from that famous school on the other side of Japan."

Bakugo said, "UA in the east. Shiketsu in the west."

Izuku was internally freaking out as Shiketsu High rivaled UA. Danny had never heard of the school before so he didn't see what the big deal was.

Inasa shouted, "I wanted to say it just once. Plus Ultra! See, I really love UA High School. I am extremely honored to compete against such incredible students. I'm so looking forward to it."

Another student, Camie, noticed blood dripping from Inasa's head. Seiji just said, "Let's go." The three students walked away.

Aizawa then said, "Inasa Yoarashi."

Toru asked, "Do you know that guy, Mr. Aizawa?"

Aizawa answered, "Indeed. He's strong. He's the same year as you all and received the top scores for students admitted through recommendations. But for some unknown reason, he turned down his acceptance to UA and went to Shiketsu."

Izuku asked, "Wait, he's our age?"

Danny looked over at Shoto and realized that Inasa got a higher score than Shoto, so he may be better than Shoto.

Sero then said, "Hold on. Is anyone else here confused? This guy says he loves our school, but he turned down his chance to enroll when it was offered?"

Mina agreed, "Yeah. What a weirdo."

"Maybe," Aizawa said. "But he's the real deal. Just like you, Fenton. Keep an eye on him. He might give you a run for your money."

Danny nodded, "Yes, sir."

Suddenly a female's voice, a hero named Ms. Joke, shouted, "Eraser? I'd know that scowl anywhere! I saw you on TV at the sports festival. But it's been a while since we were this close in person."

Aizawa cringed as Ms. Joke walked over.

Izuku said, "She looks familiar."

Ms. Joke said, "Let's get married."

"No," Aizawa replied.

Ms. Joke laughed, "Ha, ha! You're a real laugh riot, buddy."

Aizawa sighed, "As usual, you're impossible, Joke."

Izuku suddenly realized, "Oh, that's Ms. Joke! The smile hero! Her Quirk is Outburst! She forces people around her to laugh, which affects their ability to think and keeps them from being able to move. Her fights against villains are always full of insanity!"

Danny chuckled, "Interesting."

Ms. Joke said, "Come on, imagine it. If I was your wife, you'd have a future full of constant laughter."

Aizawa replied, "That sounds like an actual nightmare."

Tsuyu commented, "It seems like you two are close."

Ms. Joke replied, "Our agencies were near each other. As young heroes striving to make a difference in the world, a mutual love bloomed."

Aizawa retorted, "No, it didn't."

Ms. Joke said, "I do miss your quick retorts. You're my favorite person to tease, future husband."

Aizawa sighed, "So, Joke, if you're here, then that must mean…."

Ms. Joke interrupted, "That's right. Over here, everyone. This is UA."

Several students walked over and one of them, Shindo, said, "Oh, whoa. It really is Class A!"

A girl next to Shindo, Tatami, added, "Wow, that's so amazing. I've seen them on TV before."

Ms. Joke explained, "Second years from Ketsubutsu Academy. This is class 2. They're my students."

Shindo grabbed Izuku's hands, "Hey, I'm Shindo! Seems like UA's had a lotta trouble this year, musta been tough for you."

Izuku muttered, "Uh, yeah."

Shindo continued, "But even so, you're all still aiming to become pro heroes, despite those hardships. It's wonderful. Hearts full of fortitude! I believe that's what every hero in the world needs to have.'

Izuku muttered, "He's too nice."

Kaminari added, "This charming pretty boy's gonna steal our girls."

Danny whacked Kaminari on the head, "Dude, chill out. And that comment wasn't needed."

Shindo then turned to Bakugo, "And Bakugo, it must've been hard for you, what with that whole kidnapping incident."

Bakugo replied, "Huh?"

Shindo continued, "You have an especially strong will, don't you? Today, I'm going to do my best to learn from you. I really hope you don't mind."

He held his hand out to shake, but Bakugo knocked it away, "Stop pretending. What you're saying doesn't match the look in your eyes."

Danny noticed that Bakugo was right, Shindo had a determined look in his eyes.

Kirishima said, "Hey, man, don't be so rude! Sorry, he's just like that."

Shindo replied, "It's fine. It proves how tough his heart is." He then walked up to Danny, "And I hope to learn a lot from you. Not only did you win the sports festival, but you fought alongside All Might. That's impressive."

Danny bluntly replied, "Thanks, dude." He then gave him a glowing green glare, knowing Shindo was up to something.

Tatami ran up to Shoto, "Hey, Todoroki! Can I have your autograph? You were so cool at the sports festival."

One of her classmates, Itejiro, said, "Seriously? Stop fangirling."

She then ran up to Danny, "Danny Fenton. You are so cool. Can I have your autograph?"

Itejiro grabbed Tatami's arm and dragged her away, "Stop fangirling."

Aizawa then said, "Hey. Get your costumes and head to orientation. There's no time to waste."

Class 1-A replied, "Yes, sir."

As the students were walking towards the building, Jiro said, "It's weird. I always forget we're famous in other schools."

Kaminari added, "Oh, yeah, we're basically celebrities when it comes to hero course students. No pictures, please!"

Danny whacked Kaminari in the head again, "Dude, chill out. Don't let fame get to your head. Stay focused on the task ahead."

Aizawa started to walk away, but Ms. Joke said, "Wait, hold on. Did you not warn your kids, Eraser?" But Aizawa didn't reply.

Everyone changed into their costumes and went into the orientation room. Izuku looked around, "Look at this crowd."

Ochaco added, "There're so many."

Danny, now transformed into Phantom, felt many eyes were looking at him. He turned invisible as he felt uncomfortable.

The head of the exam, Mera, sighed, "OK then. Let's do this exam thing. I'm from the Heroes Public Safety Commission. Name's Mera. My Circadian Rhythm is so screwed up. Ah, man. I've been swamped lately and I haven't gotten much rest. We're too short staffed. I'm so tired. With that confession, I'll now begin orientation."

Izuku was shocked, and thought that someone should give this guy a break.

Mera continued, "So, about the content of this license thing. Basically, 1540 examinees compete in a free-for-all exercise or whatever we're calling it this year."

Sero said, "Seriously? That's not a lot of info."

Mera explained, "See, we've got a lot of pros around, and since Stain was arrested, many people have expressed doubts about the status of heroes in society. But, when you think about it, getting paid makes sense. If you're going to risk your life to save someone, why shouldn't you ask for a reward, huh? That's just the way the world works. God, I could use a coffee. Anyway, whether they're in it for the compensation or out of a sense of duty, we've got too many heroes working together on the streets these days to keep the villains at bay. Honestly, the time between when an incident begins and when it's resolved is ridiculously short. You are all trying to receive your provisional licenses, so you'll be swept up in this tiresome mess yourselves pretty soon. Those of you who don't have the speed, frankly, just won't cut it. Which is why that's what you'll be tested on. The first 100 students to fulfill the requirements will pass today."

Momo started to freak out, "There are over 1500 people taking this test. I thought they said that about half of us would be passing."

Tsuyu added, "This means it's actually less than 10% who'll get a license."

Jiro started to freak out, "Oh, man, I'm getting way more nervous."

Phantom reassured the girls, "Don't worry. I'm sure we will all do well and pass. Just have faith in yourself."

Mera said, "Well, the world can be pretty crappy. I suppose I should say something about luck. So, anyway, here are the basic rules. The examinee will put three of these targets on his or her body. They can go anywhere you want as long as it's an exposed area. So no soles of the feet or armpits. Each of you will also have six of these balls. The targets are programmed to light up whenever they've been touched by the balls. If all three targets light up, you're out. Oh, and the person who lights up your third target will get credit for your defeat. You get through this round by taking down two people. Got it? Good."

Phantom realized that this would be a breeze for him as he can just go intangible so that balls couldn't hit him and he can sneak up and defeat two people easily. But looking around at his classmates, he knew that it would be harder for them. Probably harder than the entrance exam.

Mera continued, "What else? Uh, I guess we'll start passing out the targets and balls. Then, you'll have a few minutes to get situated after we open."

Suddenly the entire room opened up to reveal that they were all in the middle of a huge arena.

Mera said, "I'm sure each of you have different terrains that you like or want to avoid. Use your Quirks well and do your best. Or not. Whatever. Yes, I know, it makes for a great reveal, doesn't it? And for what? So much sleep lost for this. Hopefully some of these kids are fast and we can get this over with. Until then, I'm gonna rest my eyes."

Up in the stands, Ms. Joke was sitting next to Aizawa, "I can't believe you still have 20 students. It's unusual for you not to have expelled someone. You must actually like your class this time."

Aizawa replied, "Not really."

Ms. Joke laughed, "Don't be embarrassed. That's so like you. Please date me."

"Shut up," Aizawa replied.

Ms. Joke said, "But really, you know what's about to happen down there. And yet, you didn't mention a thing to your class."

Everyone got their targets and balls and ran to different parts of the arena.

Izuku said to Class 1-A, "Everyone! Stay close together. We'll fight them as a group."

Everyone agreed, except Bakugo, "Yeah right. This isn't a field trip."

"Idiot," Kirishima said. "Wait up!" He ran after Bakugo.

Shoto then said, "I'm going on my own, too. It's hard for me to use my power safely when a big group's around."

Phantom sighed, "Great, but if that's what they want, fine."

Up in the stands, Ms. Joke said, "Every year, the test is different. But one thing's always the same. It's kind of a tradition during the licensing exam."

Izuku said to Phantom, "I don't think it's a good idea for them to go off on their own, though. Think about it. Everyone already knows what powers we have. Even yours."

Tenya realized, "The sports festival!"

Ms. Joke said, "Most of the students who compete in the licensing exam have pretty equal footing. Except for one school. UA comes in at a severe disadvantage. Because the top school's sports festival is broadcast across the country, showing off not just your students' Quirks, but their weaknesses and fighting styles, too. Kinda funny, isn't it?"

Phantom knew what Izuku was talking about, "I know you're saying that the other schools probably figured out a way to win. This is going to be a battle between schools. Great."

Izuku nodded, "First, it's likely they'll gang up against Quirks they know."

The buzzer sounded and an announcer said, "The first test will now begin."

Ms Joke said to Aizawa, "If you like your class this year, then you should have warned your students all about this. We've seen it time and time again in this exam. UA is immediately crushed."

Down in the arena, several students from Shiketsu High charged in at Class 1-A. Shindo led the charge, "I saw you on TV, Midoriya. That power of yours also destroys your body. Well, I can't say I'm above taking advantage of that!" Several of the students threw their balls at Izuku.

But Izuku used his new move to kick one of the balls back and create a wind so forceful it sent all the balls back the other way.

Everyone else in Class 1-A used their Quirks to block/send back the balls thrown at them. Phantom even put some of his ecto energy into one of the balls and threw it right at one of the students' targets, hitting it.

Aizawa said to Ms. Joke, "So you think we'll be taken out? I don't really see a reason why I should've warned them. I doubt anything would've changed if I had. They're still going to have to overcome this, either way. Real heroes could turn this situation around. Besides, if they become pros, they'll face villains who already know their Quirks. Perhaps at UA, we look a little further ahead than other schools."

Izuku shouted, "We've got this, you guys! Show them what UA can do!"

Phantom added, "Let's show them we aren't to be messed with!"

Everyone else shouted, "Yeah!"
