Envy stared down his opponent as he took an instant to think about his current circumstances. He was low on power and was about to face Wrath who didn't seem bothered at all by the spikes that were lodged in his body. In fact, his target got into that same stance he always took before he charged. Despite the bravado it may show, Envy could tell that Wrath was on his last legs as well.
The black dust in his left arm was continuously leaking and the blood from his wounds did not slow down in the slightest, indicating that he wasn't healing. The Jealous Sin had considered taunting his opponent to get a reaction out of him to get an idea of what he was thinking but since he came bursting out the second floor of the castle, he had that same stupid fanged grin on his face.
It was quite infuriating to look at, made Envy feel that Wrath wasn't at all bothered or nervous by the situation. As time went on as they fought, it became more and more apparent that Wrath wasn't in his right mind right now. He did not respond to any sort of communication, did not flinch from the incoming attacks he received that even left him injured, and did not react to any of those injuries despite them being grievous.
It was almost as if he had reverted back into the predator that Talib had described him to be so long ago.
The Jealous Sin supposed it didn't matter, if Wrath had no intention of dodging any attacks and taking them in an attempt to get closer to Envy then the naked man would not complain. Envy had debated whether he wanted to use the existing weapons that lay around such as the stakes skewering his opponent's body or create new weapons to engage Wrath up close.
He eventually decided to create six new weapons given that he did not feel confident he could muster a definitive ranged offensive against Wrath who would inevitably bring this conflict to close range. While he could tell Wrath was growing weaker, he did not underestimate the speed the predator had displayed with minimal effort. Using the weapons he had created earlier would force him to bring them all into the throne room from wherever he left them and he didn't feel that he could nail Wrath with ranged attacks.
Pushing those thoughts aside, he heard Wrath push off the wooden ground and cover the distance between the two of them quickly. Two of his short swords crossed in front of him to stop a clawed hand from piercing his chest, the force from the strike had the Jealous Sin being pushed back. Feeling that he could handle the force of the preemptive strike with two arms, Envy swung his two left swords at Wrath's neck and side.
The predator's first attack was a burst of speed with his right arm out to skewer Envy but given that it didn't work and sensing the attack coming, Wrath's leg shot up and kicked his opponent's left shoulder where all his arms originated. The force stopped Envy's retaliation to the predator's first attack while making his upper body give way from the force of the kick. The Jealous Sin however used his momentary loss of balance to swing his two right hands toward Wrath as his left side was pushed by the kick.
Wrath ducked under the swings with his right arm across his opponent's chest still holding onto Envy's blades. With his upper body under Envy's right set of arms, the predator stood up putting his shoulder under the hunter's while at the same time using his right leg to kick out Envy's causing him to lose his footing then pivoting at the waist, throwing Envy to the ground.
Envy felt some air leave his lungs from the impact but that didn't stop him from throwing two short swords at Wrath to buy some time. The predator didn't care to sense the two swords as a threat and let them pierce his chest and was about to stomp on Envy's head once again but was jerked back by a sudden force pushing the swords further into his chest.
The Jealous Sin rolled to his feet while taking a swipe with all of his blades that resulted in Wrath being cut four times at his legs and abdomen. Not flinching in pain, the predator extended his claws to stab into Envy's chest but they instead latched onto a blade that blocked its path. Closing his claws around the blade that stood in his way, Wrath yanked it out of the Jealous Sin's crip and tossed it away while cocking his right leg back and delivering a hard kick that had Envy rolling away.
Not slowing down in the slightest, Wrath quickly covered the distance between them once again and stomped where Envy's head was. He barely missed as his opponent careened his neck to the side watching splinters of wood pick up from the force of the stomp. Extending two of his arms, Envy rolled to his front and stabbed two of his serrated blades into the back of Wrath's knees and attempted to dig them in deeper and rip them out to hinder the predator.
Unfortunately with Wrath still not seemingly reacting to any pain, the predator stabbed his claws deep into Envy's back and blindly grabbed anything he could get a hold of. The naked man felt the excruciating pain of those razor sharp claws digging into his back and an iron grip on the base of his spine and one of his shoulder blades.
Instead of ripping those bones out like he surmised, Wrath leaned back as he violently tossed Envy straight up by using his shoulder blade and spine as handles. The bones structures held, but the nerves around them were crushed thanks to Wrath who didn't seem to care since he caught Envy's body like he was giving someone a bone crushing hug and slammed them both into the ground with the predator on top.
The Jealous Sin looked up just in time to raise an arm to block a heavy punch that shattered the bones in one of his forearms. Not wanting to be crushed by another one of Wrath's heavy punches, Envy focused on the weapons impaled in Wrath and used his other free arms to push the predator away by sending the weapons flying in the opposite direction.
Wrath felt air rush around his body as he was sent flying away but he dug his feet into the throne room floor to stop himself. When he grinded to a halt, the predator rushed forward despite the force pushing against him from the weapons lodged inside his body. Recognizing his enemy would not be deterred with the impaled blades in his body, Envy recalled his weapons to his remaining five hands. His right shoulder protested with every movement of his right arms and his spine cursed for the same when he stood up and braced himself with one of his legs back and five blades at the ready.
Envy had barely a moment before Wrath was on him swinging both of his arms with the intent of shredding him into pieces. He met blow for blow with one of his five arms and could keep pace with the Furious Sin's flurry of strikes with his multiple arms but his blades could not. With each strike, hot sparks would come from the Jealous Sin's serrated blades being chipped away. Wrath's claws also suffered with each strike but the predator didn't seem to care or notice as he only struck faster and harder.
The Jealous Sin pushed himself to keep up with Wrath's attack but it was becoming painfully obvious that he was losing ground. A graze across his cheek had Envy jump back to gain distance between the two of them.
Wrath did not follow immediately as he seemed to take a beat from their exchange, blood flowed bountifully from the various cuts that decorated his right arm. His left arm, composed of black dust, grew thinner and thinner to the point it looked more like an imitation of the bone of an arm instead of the muscle and flesh. The spikes that had previously impaled them had fallen out due to the furious rate that Wrath had attacked Envy and his wounds bled heavily.
The Jealous Sin fared no better as had the same if not more wounds covering his naked body. Envy fought hard to not lose his focus on his opponent as the multitude of different pains assaulted his mind. The serrated blades in a number of his hands were whittled down to the hilt and scattered around the ground in metal shards. His body was abused, cut all over, and had two large rips in his back where one could see his right shoulder and the base of his spine. His nerves directly attached to those bones were ripped out but not enough of his muscles where he couldn't move them. He could still move but the nerves that weren't ripped out painfully reminded him that he was missing flesh and the open air with the addition of the strain he was putting on his body was not welcomed.
However despite the pitiful states of both their bodies, neither of them had any intention of stopping. Envy had a small reserve left he planned on using to revive himself if he could get a mutual fatal strike at Wrath but his sense of self preservation also quieted as he hungered for Wrath's life even more.
The Jealous Sin raised all of his arms and his four extra arms with one being completely useless dissolved into black dust before seeping into his two main arms. Then, all the weapons and metal shards that littered the ground all rushed to the stumped hilts he had in both hands. The blades and shards attached themselves to the hits and formed two large weapons that resembled swords but could be classified as a pointed club with many shards jutting out of them.
With his new weapons now ready and costing the last of the black dust he had, Envy rushed forward this time and slammed down one of them at Wrath.
The predator tracked the attack with his eyes and already his body had a prepared response to it. His claws sharpened as he leaned on the ball of his feet preparing to charge forward, completely ignoring the risk of being killed by the weapon when something jerked in his mind.
Rahim had defeated all the copies and was waiting patiently for Wrath to do what was needed to provide him with a chance to escape. As he waited, he passively watched the predator fight his opponent through Wrath's eyes and knew the predator had lost himself to the ravenous feeling of hunger the avenger had provided for him.
He expected the predator to quickly finish the fight but his opponent proved to be a stubborn sort and it had begun to become worrisome as Wrath completely disregarded attacks that riddled his body with wounds. Rahim had allowed this to go on as a senseless Wrath was easier to control but when he saw that Wrath was about to be crushed by an absurd weapon his opponent had created, Rahim knew that he needed to step in.
Unfortunately, he currently wasn't equipped to take control of his body and with the current one controlling the predator's mind lost to such pure base instinct, it left only one option.
Rahim had been aware that Edward had been knocked unconscious and he kept him in that state to keep Wrath easier to control but with the current situation, some sense might be useful. It wasn't hard to put the young man under, with him unconscious and that copy taking over, Rahim was able to stash Edward in a dark corner of Wrath's soul and cut him off from all stimuli to keep him complacent. It was a helpful technique others had used before to keep rampant soul echoes from causing trouble as the host dealt with something more pressing.
Wrath and by extension the copy from earlier would have much use for this skill, had they learned it from the book Father had gifted them.
The avenger didn't need Edward to be completely awake, just his own sense of self preservation to keep Wrath from throwing his life away. There would be a brief period where the young man's mind would begin to wrestle for control, in that brief period, Rahim would send the last of his tainted rage with a new intent.
With a couple of subtle taps, the young man stirred and already, a change began to occur on the outside.
Instead of charging forward, Wrath dived to the side to avoid the large weapon, his blank frenzied expression faltering as did the hunger. The world around him began to come into focus as he recognized his opponent as more than a source of rage. His body all at once screamed its weakness as he found his legs shaky and unbalanced.
The predator's mind was still muddled but Envy charged again forcing him to play defensively. Staying just out of the Jealous Sin's reach he weaved, dodged and knocked away any blows that came too close. As he did so, his brain started to wake up as thoughts started to flood his mind.
Arendelle burning…
People dead…
Families torn apart…
These images flooded his mind and at the center of it was Envy who continued to charge relentlessly.
The predator started to strike back as more thoughts of destruction continued to flood his mind as his body got lighter.
Cameron and Lena forever separated…
Walter, Gerda, and Kai killed…
Anna and Kristoff burned together…
Elsa being taken to be rap-
Envy felt a particularly hard strike knock his weapon away as Wrath stepped into swinging distance with not a look of gleeful feral hunger, but rather desperate anger. His opponent swung with his claws aimed to swipe off his neck but Envy blocked with his other weapon while once again striking with the weapon that was knocked away. Wrath intercepted that one too with his brittle left arm that almost caved with the heavy impact.
The predator pushed against Envy's weapons with his right arm before sending more strikes at his opponent who responded with his own to either parry or block them. Soon the two started to trade blows one after another, each of them moving faster and faster as time went on. Sparks and blood flew from each attack but both precipitants remained blind to that fact and focused solely on their enemy in front of them.
From anyone watching, they would barely be able to make out the two Sins fighting one another. All they would see were the sparks and arcs of blood that followed each swing with a flash of movement as the two relentlessly clashed and circled one another. The sound of roaring reverberated throughout the throne room as the two Sins poured every last bit of their being into destroying the other.
The two of them were synchronized in their attempts to land that fatal blow on the other, each attack would be blocked, parried, or barely grazed its target while another one was on its way. Envy's large swords began to be whittled down as well while Wrath's left arm became more and more brittle but the two nevertheless continued. Neither of them gave ground, no matter how much they sidestepped or charged neither of them would take a step back, this contest would come to an end now.
Wrath swung his left arm with a heavy haymaker that smashed into Envy's block that made several cracks appear on his weapons and Wrath's left arm finally caved but not before knocking Envy away who tried to regain his footing. The predator rushed after him, the distance between them closing quickly but Envy saw him coming and thrust one of his swords forward to deter his enemy.
The predator had already dashed forward and couldn't dodge out the way of the incoming weapon so he leaned out of it which avoided the event of him being stabbed completely through the stomach but the multitude of shards impaled his side. The Jealous Sin felt Wrath's left shoulder smash into his chest and knock him off his feet, the force propelling them across the throne room. The predator, seeing his chance, cocked his arm back before swinging with everything he could muster in that moment at his opponent's neck.
A cracked large sword came up to block Envy's neck but that didn't deter Wrath who felt his hand smash into the weapon and his claws dug deep into it. Determined to end this now, Wrath pushed beyond his limits and pushed his claws watching more cracks beginning to form on the weapon. Envy, who was far from giving up, tried to move the sword that had impaled Wrath and moved it deeper into the predator's body to bisect him at the waist.
Time slowed down all around them except to the two of them who both struggled to kill the other. Face to face, they could see the will in the other's eyes as their roars grew louder. The pain each of them felt failed to register as all they could focus on was the glimmer of victory that was in their grasp.
Envy let his feelings of revenge spur him forward, the hell he endured thanks to Wrath pushed his sword bit by bit into the predator.
Wrath on the other hand thought of everyone of Arendelle who he had gotten to know: the villagers, the guards, the castle staff, the royal family, all of them were in his mind. He remembered meeting Kristoff, being surprised by Anna's bubbliness, working with the dock workers, politely greeting happy villagers that passed him by, listening to the joyful shouts of the inn dwellers, watching Olaf and Sven play with one another, arguing with Hector, teaching Cameron, instructing the Royal Guard members, learning under Stonewell, being apprehensive in front of Kai and Gerda, and finally; being accepted wholly and completely by Elsa.
He wouldn't let them down, he didn't give a damn he lived or died after this, but he would make sure Envy would hurt none of them.
The predator's feelings forced him to banish all thoughts of failure in his mind and made the image of Envy's head hitting the floor an inevitable fact.
Wrath's roars doubled as he dug deeper into his already empty reserves, when he felt nothing come to his aid he told his mind to find something more and didn't accept no for an answer. He told his arm to push harder, he screamed at those cracks he made to grow larger, he demanded his claws to smash right through that damn weapon and leave Envy headless.
His arm went for broke and gave everything it had.
The cracks yielded to his voice and grew larger.
His claws were emboldened by his soul shuddering roars and broke through their obstacles.
Slice!
Envy's head flew off his body and hit the throne room floor with a wet plop while his headless body's back hit the ground and Wrath landed next to it. The throne room was deathly silent as the war that had engulfed it abated. Envy's face was stuck in shock as his head rolled then stopped with him looking at Wrath who remained unmoving.
He already knew, when he put everything into fighting Wrath that if he died then he would remain dead. As painful as it was to admit it, Envy knew that he would die soon. However, his eyes locked on Wrath who remained unmoving with his large sword halfway through his abdomen and the Jealous Sin smiled.
He will die yes, but he managed to give Wrath the same bleak fate.
Envy was about to laugh if something peculiar didn't happen. A scurrying sound caught his ears as something darted by his head. His eyes tracked the fast moving object and saw that it was a rat given its shape. The rat scurried over to his decapitated body and squeezed itself under his back then disappeared inside.
The Jealous Sin almost dismissed the occurrence when his headless body started to shake and writhe. It continued before coming to stop with a lurch as the rat burst out of his chest, with his stone in its mouth. Envy's eyes widened as he opened his mouth about to scream at the rat but his lack of air from having no lungs made it impossible to speak. He could only gape like a fish as the rat left his body before scurrying over to Wrath's motionless body and squeezed itself, stone and all inside the wound left by his large sword.
Father remained perched against his tree with his eyes closed while Talib rested near the edge of the freezing water he just pulled himself from. He had just ordered Gluttony to retreat but the Voracious Sin had to contend with the remainder of the Arendellian Royal Guard, the Mystic Guard reinforcements, as well as Ahimoth and Lilian which delayed his escape.
Assuming of course he even did get away…
Talib dared not to speak to gauge the anger Father must've felt over this entire invasion failing its one singular purpose especially with the force they had gathered. They should've been able to easily crush the Snow Queen's resistance but she endured and he knew that Coroan reinforcements were on their way.
Despite this Father seemed at peace with the current state of affairs as he remained in his spot.
Until the man in question's eyes opened and he slowly stood up and faced away from the capitol. "It's been a long time, hasn't it, Master?"
Talib turned and assumed Father was speaking to him but his entire body went rigid at the sight of another old man with a cane standing in the shadows of the forest. The man's face was set in a grim scowl as his fingers gripped the head of his cane tightly. The alchemist had not sensed the man approaching, it was as if he appeared out of thin air but the overwhelming presence that oozed out of this man suggested he was something to be feared.
Jorgen said nothing as he bore holes into Asger the Crusher's body, he looked past the shell that existed on the physical plane and focused on the soul or piece of it that belonged to his greatest mistake. He had sensed it when he was speaking to Stonewell and left immediately to see if it was who he thought it was and now he knew it was, he could extract some payback.
"Talib, go to the rendezvous site and wait there for me and my guest. Upon meeting with them, all of you will leave this kingdom and return home." Father did not turn his back on the harbormaster as he spoke, keeping his eyes fixed on the old man, who slanted his eyes over to the alchemist for a half second before returning to his main interest.
Talib debated asking should he not remain here to assist with dealing with this old man but the combined presence of the harbormaster plus the finality of Father's voice had him jogging away. As he stepped past the old man, the two of them made eye contact for a second that lasted an eternity for the alchemist who in that brief second, saw the horrendous torture he'd endure when the old man would catch up to him.
The look caused the alchemist to spur his legs to move faster and hope he could leave Arendelle soon.
Jorgen heard the footsteps behind him get fainter and fainter before focusing all of his attention on the imposing man in front of him. Tossing his cane up before catching it by the shaft, he held it off to the side before black dust enveloped it. The shaft got longer before half it turned into a double edged blade jutting out of the bottom while the head grew into a reaper's blade. It was a one of a kind weapon that had multiple applications as a sword, spear, or scythe but bordered on being too unwieldy as the blade out the bottom could cut into the owner if not careful.
"It's been a long time since I've seen that old thing. I do think Talib got the idea of his weapon from yours." Jorgen again said nothing as he took a hold of his weapon and raised it above his head and prepared to use it. Father did not seem threatened by it and still continued to speak.
"The last couple of decades have been quite the challenge for me given where my body is but I might be on the verge of having a solution to that problem. If it does work I can finally get to work on granting your wish of-"
The wind cried as the reaper's blade flashed and Asger's head flew off his body and hit the ground a moment before his body followed. Mr. Jorgen's top hat fell to the ground as he stepped over the lifeless corpse of the Crusher's body and bent down to retrieve his head to stare at his facial expression. It was still locked in a friendly smile as if he was greeting an old friend that made the harbormaster's blood boil.
Jorgen looked into the head's eyes hoping to see some flicker of fear but only saw his reflection in them.
The face of an old nightmare appeared in the empty reflection of Asger's eyes. Jorgen's head looked as if it had aged several lifetimes in a brief moment. There were no muscles in his face, only pale clothlike skin that both hung off his head and remained stitched to his bones. His eyes were just black voids with no pupils and his mouth had a constant stream of black dust spilling from them.
Realizing he was wasting his time, the harbormaster crushed the head in his hands like an egg and watched black dust as well as blood splatter from the force and he sucked the black dust into his eyes before bending down to collect his hat. Upon donning it, his face returned to normal and his cane shortened back to its non-threatening shape. He huffed and was about to make his way back to Stonewell when his body froze.
The very black dust that coursed through his veins froze and Jorgen found himself unable to move. He struggled and fought against the grip trying to command his body to obey him but he was held fast. He heard the sound of someone laughing in his mind as a familiar voice whispered in his thoughts.
"Well that wasn't very nice. You could've at least spoken to your old apprentice before decapitating them couldn't you?"
The harbormaster gritted his teeth as he ground out a single word.
"Abraham…"
"It's nice to know you still think of me after all these years. As much as I would like this to be a heartfelt reunion, we're both racing against time and I can't have you interfering at this stage. Don't worry, this won't last long, just long enough for things to play out the way I need them to, hope you enjoyed getting that small sliver of my soul, you won't be getting another."
With that, the voice ceased and Jorgen found himself all the same restrained, cursing himself for falling into such a simple trap.
Mary had quite enjoyed the show that Wrath and Envy had given her and when she watched them both drop, she felt it was her time to do what she came for. But first she would need an audience, which was why she was currently staring at Kristoff and Anna from afar. The royal couple had been helping move Arendellian refugees to the nearest fort while the war on their home was beginning to wind down.
Her phantoms had cut off any direct route to Arendelle but now that the invasion was ending, she saw no need for them to do any longer. She had already gathered them up renewing her reserves and created two phantoms who had the ability to fly.
She watched the pair of them swoop down like lightning and snatch the couple up, causing panic with everyone that watched them. What was most interesting was Sven attempting to run after them to catch them, against her namesake, Mary decided to make another phantom that took the reindeer as well.
The woman estimated it would take some time for them to reach their destination, by which time, the real show would begin.
Rahim cursed as Wrath hit the ground and remained unmoving. He had hoped rousing Edward's conscience would make the predator value his life more, not risk it all to put his enemy in the ground for the sake of people he barely knew. The effort was so…human, that it made the avenger sick as he tried to force the predator's body to move despite knowing he didn't have the power to do so.
Envy's body was right there, the stone was right there. If Wrath could just reach over, pluck it from Envy's lifeless corpse and take it for himself, the predator would have a better chance at living…
…and give Rahim the chance to take over given Wrath would have to occupy Envy who would try to take over.
However, the more time passed and Wrath remained unmoving, the darker his soul got. It was becoming painfully clear that the predator was dying and there was nothing the avenger could do.
Rahim wanted to fight, but he logically knew there was nothing he could do. He could flail and scream and panic as a human would, or accept that he was now helpless and no amount of struggle would change that. Sighing, the avenger took a seat on the stairs that led to Wrath's courtyard and waited for the inevitable ending that was his life.
The darkness enveloped him and all at once, all of his senses went blank.
Laboring breaths resounded all around her as Elsa felt herself being carried. Her conscience fought to break through the relaxing fog of non feeling she had found herself in. The breaths and the jostle of her body brought her back to the real world as she opened her eyes and saw that she was being carried down one of the side servant passage ways.
Her groans must've alerted the one carrying her as they stopped and one of them propped her up against a wall. Kai and Gerda's worried faces appeared in front of her as her vision cleared.
"Elsa, are you alright?"
Kai's voice echoed but came into focus as Elsa gave him her sole attention.
Her head still spun and she was completely drained from all that happened but nodded her head. She heard Gerda gasp and give her a loose hug, the events must've had the older woman worried. The blonde then thought of the fact that Kai just called her Elsa instead of her title which showed his worry as well.
Elsa tiredly smiled at the two of them, happy that they were safe from all that was going on. She had known so many people had died today and couldn't bear it if the two of them joined the list of the ones killed today.
The blonde's mind tried to catch up with the last thing it remembered before falling unconscious. She remembered facing that man with the black dust with Marshmallow and watching him being thrown over the castle wall. While she was relieved she had won their confrontation, her mind couldn't get past what she saw when she was trapped in that dome of black dust. The voices that echoed around her sounded both familiar and unfamiliar.
Try as she might, she couldn't remember why it sounded so familiar.
Deciding to push those thoughts away for later, she remembered what she was trying to do before that man had barred her way. She wanted to make sure that the castle staff and civilians evacuated through the garden.
"Kai…the people, did they escape?"
The round man shook his head. "No, they were unable to use the garden escape tunnel because your special guest had some kind of magic and engaged Edward and the trolls. He told us to go back into the castle until he dealt with the man but that was a while ago and the troll Grand Pabbie took everyone to the staff entrances near the perimeter of the castle."
Elsa absorbed this information and guessed that her opponent had left Edward to find her after he told them to run back inside, which left one burning question. If that man could walk away and fight her, what had happened to Edward?
"Kai, what happened to Edward?"
The plump man grimaced as he thought back to the last time he had seen the young man. The well mannered, shy, respectable Edward he had come to like had been skewered and crushed another man's head under his foot like he was stepping on a bug. He was aware the young man had a troubled life but he had never seen such violence before and it was a miracle he managed to keep his breakfast. Judging from the worried expression on Elsa's face, he could tell that she really cared about him, but he didn't know if he was honestly comfortable allowing her to see him.
Gerda watched Kai's facial expression and could guess what was on his mind and understood his hesitance but also knew that for better or worse Elsa should see the good, the bad, and ugly of love.
"The last time we saw him, he was thrown into the castle, likely the throne room. He was fighting some six armed naked man who could make weapons out of thin air. While we were carrying you, we could hear loud clashes and yelling but it had gone silent a few minutes ago. We don't know what happened after that."
Making weapons out of thin air…
Elsa's mind instantly brought up the only person who she knew had an ability like that. It was the same monster that kidnapped her and almost had her raped. Edward was fighting Zavis alone again, the blonde would not let that stand.
With her body, Kai, and Gerda telling her to rest, Elsa forced herself up to her feet and started to make her way to the throne room using the wall as support. The plump man that was like a father to her instantly protested and tried to physically step in her way but the blonde wouldn't have it.
"Before you say anything Kai, yes, I know how reckless and dangerous this is and frankly I. Don't. Care. Edward has always put me first and taken the heavy load if it meant I had some minor relief and I appreciate that but I will not let him do this alone again. I don't want him to protect me all the time from anything just because of the fact that I was lucky enough to be born a Queen. I want us to protect each other and learn to lean on one another when times are tough. He needs to know that he isn't alone and he doesn't have to fight his battles alone, even if he may physically have to, the least I can do is be there for him in case he needs someone."
Kai was stunned at the young woman's outburst while Gerda smiled as she was sure that Stonewell would've liked to know that Elsa had taken his speech about leaning on others to heart.
The blonde prepared to continue forward even if that meant shouldering past Kai when the plump man sighed before looking to Gerda who nodded and grabbed one of her arms and put it over his shoulders to support her and walk toward the throne room. When Elsa gave him a surprised expression, he shrugged.
"I can't argue that what you're saying is right, despite my worries, I'm sure Walter would agree that Edward takes a lot on his shoulders alone to help others. We'll help you get to the throne room but if it's too dangerous then we are leaving, and you can't argue with me on that one. I know you want to help but you can barely stand right now, we'll go to the throne room and one of us will see what is going on before you step in."
Elsa looked ready to argue but Kai surprisingly ignored her and helped her to the throne room with Gerda behind them. It didn't take long for the three to make it there, and Kai passed Elsa off to Gerda before taking a deep breath to gather his courage and peek through the side entrance to the throne room.
The throne room was in shambles as it looked like a tornado had rolled through. The class windows were shattered, some columns were broken and toppled while others had several deep slashes etched into them the same as the floor did.
Amidst the chaos was Edward who was sitting cross legged with his back to the plump man. His left arm was now a stump again and his clothes were even more shredded than before but from what Kai could see he looked alright. The plump man opened the door wider and motioned for Elsa and Gerda as he entered the throne room.
"Edward?"
The young man looked up at the sound of his name and slowly turned to look at Kai with a blank expression on his face. It lasted for half a second before a relieved smile crossed his face.
"Kai, you're alright, I was worried about you. When I told you to run back into the castle, I'd hope you hadn't run into any problems that Talib might've left in store for Elsa."
Seeing the young man's usual pleasant and polite disposition return eased Kai's worries as he stepped forward to stand next to the young man and offer him a hand up. Edward looked at the hand before taking it with his only remaining arm and standing to his full height. The young man looked over to the approaching two women and waved at them with a sheepish grin. The older woman thought he might've been embarrassed by the fact he was essentially shirtless and apprehensive for destroying the throne room.
Her earlier fear of his ominous disposition before greatly lessened as she assumed it was what he was talking about when he said he could bring this whole invasion to an end on his own. She didn't believe him at the time but from what she had seen, perhaps the young man very well could carry out that intention but the way he said it before, it seemed to have a heavy cost he was reluctant to pay. If it caused him even more pain than what she saw when he asked her what he should do, she was glad he didn't go through with it.
"Edward, your concern is well appreciated but all of us are fine, in fact we were more worried about you. You had us quite worried given what we'd seen."
The young man nervously scratched his neck as he chuckled. "I'm sorry about all that, things tend to get messy when I really let myself go. But you don't have to worry, I beat the guy I was fighting and with Hector taking out that monster with Ahimoth and Lilian, this invasion should finally come to an end."
Relief appeared on the faces of Kai and Gerda as they heard that. It had been such a nightmare but now that the end seemed in sight, the two almost collapsed from nerves. Edward laughed a bit at their expressions before he turned his eyes to Elsa who still hadn't said anything. He smiled warmly as he took a step toward the blonde with his one arm extended.
"Elsa…"
He expected her to hobble into his arm given that she was being supported by Gerda…
…he did not expect three chains of ice hooking onto his wrist and ankles.
The young man looked down at his restraints before finally locking eyes with the blonde's narrowed ones.
"I don't know who you are, but you're not Edward. Give him back his body."
The young man raised an eyebrow before his face shifted back into the emotionless one that he had earlier. "His body? I do think you are mistaken, because this body belonged to me long before Wrath took it from me."
The young man gave the most professional bow he could given his current state. "How rude of me to not introduce myself, my name is Rahim, I am the current Wrath the Furious. I would say it's a pleasure to finally meet you, but that feels somewhat redundant given the shared experiences of your body and mine."
Welcome back guys! Look at this, Rahim is back alive :D. Oooh I wonder how things are going to go down now that he is back in own body! Please stay tuned for the next two (maybe 1) chapters that will end the War of Arendelle arc! As always please leave a review or a pm if you need to contact me, I am always around to respond, just not around to actually sit down and knock these out since I'm usually on the go. Have a nice day readers!
