Konoha's Retrieval Team
Chapter 2
Shisui Decision
I don't own Naruto
Masashi Kishimoto does!
"Shisui-sensei, I'm back, and I brought lunch," Naruto yelled to get his brother's attention. He went to get some chopsticks from a drawer.
"Ah, good, good. I was starting to get hungry, so what took you so long to return? Did, by chance, something happen to you? I'm going to guess that Anbu caught you doing your prank, right? And I'm sure the Sandaime gave you a long lecture, gahaha." Shisui laughed at Naruto as he bombarded him with question after question, leaving the poor child unable to answer his aniki series of questions, only to make him snicker at the young blond.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa, aniki, you asked too many questions. Please slow it down for me; I'm still a child," Naruto commented with his pouty face as Shisui laughed, forgetting that Naruto was still a young child.
"Alright, alright. So what took you so long to get back home, Naruto-kun?" Shisui asked his question as Naruto ate his rice, making a thinking face.
"After setting up all the traps around the village, I went to Ichiraku's to eat some ramen. While having small talk with Ayame-nee-san and her father, I continued to eat bowl after bowl of delicious ramen until Jiji sent one of his mask friends to let me know that he wanted to speak to me urgently. I told him I would head over right after eating my ramen. But he suddenly picked me up by the shirt and threatened to bring me by force back to jiji office. I decided on a spontaneous moment to prank the Anbu, ruining my ramen moment, when I told him to pay my bill and took off. From what I heard, he had to pay my bill before returning to the old man's office." Naruto explained that as he took a bite of the fish he was eating, Shisui made a pained face, knowing that the Anbu had to pay a large amount of currency.
"Ouch, that must have been brutal on his wallet. So how did you get caught for the Hokage requesting your presence?" Shisui winces at Anbu's misfortune, while Naruto only shrugs without sympathy.
"Shisui-nii-san, I think my reputation as a prankster has finally caught up with me. I guess that's what happens when I'm the only village person who doesn't care about the consequences." Naruto commented as he kept eating his food, and Shisui nodded in agreement.
"So, did the Hokage give you a lecture and send you on your way home?" Shisui asked, pressing for a response. Naruto nodded in affirmation, making Shisui grin while guessing correctly.
"Once I got to Hokage-jiji's office, I took my seat before we began to speak with one another until he brought up the incident. He asked me if I was the Hokage, how I would punish the troublemaker for causing all the chaos in the morning. All I could do was say, "I don't know," as I turned my eyes away from the old man." Naruto explained what happened to Shisui as he winced at the fact that the Hokage already knew and wanted to see what he would say.
"So what happened?" Shisui urges Naruto to continue the story as he drank his water before his mouth dryed.
"Hokage-jiji ended up punishing me, and I'm not allowed to eat ramen at Ichiraku's for a week. I have to go to his clan compound to do whatever chores he asks me to do, and I have to keep his grandson company occasionally. He will also be making me practice calligraphy until he sees otherwise. I'm still unsure why I had to learn to do that, but I guess I had no choice. After the old man finished punishing me, the Anbu I pranked appeared and began to report to Hokage-jiji, explaining why he was late to get to the office. We talked about some more things, but I had already forgotten. He mentioned joining the academy next week to become a ninja, so I got excited and said yes, and maybe I'll be able to make friends at last. Then, I will work hard to become one of the most powerful ninjas in the Hidden Leaf. I even danced a little, excited to make the Hokage laugh at my silliness." Naruto recalled his time with the Hokage and explained what had happened to Shisui.
"Did you get a chance to see the traps go off by chance? Shisui asked out of curiosity as he ate a dango while Naruto sipped his tea.
"No, I was going to hide on top of a roof and watch, but my stomach betrayed me, so I went to Ichiraku's to eat breakfast," Naruto responded as he kept eating his food, while Shisui grinned, knowing for a fact that he wanted to watch his traps go off.
"That explains how the Anbu could easily find you since you are a ramen addict, Naruto-chan." Shisui began to guffaw at his statement. All Naruto could do was give him a deadpan stare.
"So anyways, sensei, what have you been up to?" Naruto asked as he finished eating and began to clean up after eating, while Shisui just sipped his tea before answering.
"I have been reading whatever material you bring and meditating on creating a new jutsu; otherwise, nothing much. And just before you arrived, I was beginning to get hungry; lucky for me, you came on time. So here we are, having a small talk during our day. Once you clean up, we will have you work on your stamina training." Shisui said as he got up, made a shadow clone watch over Naruto, and instructed him on what to do next.
"Yes, Shisui-sensei!" Naruto yelled, looking excited to finally be able to go out and train with his aniki. Shisui only smiled at the young blond's enthusiasm.
"Let me know when you are ready so that I can send you a [Kage Bunshin]. If anything or anyone comes near, I will dispel it," Shisui commented as he lay down to wait.
While Shisui waited for Naruto, he had many things running through his mind since Naruto had saved him. Then again, people from Konohagakure are too blinded by hate to even use a child as their scapegoat to recognize Yondaime's legacy. Shisui began to think that he was cheated of a chance to be a Jonin sensei since he trained Itachi. He could have also gotten an apprentice. Shisui would have been able to guide and teach them just like he did with Itachi, just without all the stoicism and seriousness. But he knew in his heart that it would have made him extremely happy to pass down his knowledge to a worthy pupil, and now he had found someone he owed his life.
Since he was a former Anbu and a young one at that, he was skilled in different shinobi arts and didn't use his sharingan constantly like most people from his clan. Shisui was a rare Uchiha, born once every decade; he is an outgoing, playful person without the usual Uchiha attitude. Shisui loves his clan and wishes for some of their aspects to be different, but he also has a passion for his village, something that most of his older clan members don't approve of. But Shisui being Shisui, didn't care much what the old farts had to say so long he didn't dishonor the clan while displaying his accomplishment giving the superiority of the Uchiha clan. They let him do what he wished as long as he didn't get out of hand with the antics. Luckily for him, he was also a prodigy.
The Konoha's council gave Shisui an S-rank mission to use his [Mangekyou Sharingan] on the Uchiha council to stop the coupe. Unfortunately, Shimura Danzo, who happens to be the Anbu commander, betrayed him. The last thing he expected was the man to steal his [Sharingan] eyes outright. Fortunate or not, he could escape with only one eye, but it was better than death. He knew with all his heart that he had to get away before the Root Anbu killed him, and then Danzo would have both his eyes, making him a dangerous person who could become Hokage. And with his war hawk way would start the fourth shinobi war to put the whole Elemental Nations under his control while being the Hokage, how he always dreamt of for peace.
Shisui hoped to fake his death as he fell into the river so he could escape by swimming out of the village; unfortunately for him, the debris from the explosion hit him in the back of the head, knocking him out. And when he regained consciousness while having his right eye closed, he realized that he was still alive. Shisui was surprised to be saved by the village's jinchuriki, who happened to be Uzumaki Naruto. They were in a hideout close to the Uchiha compound that Naruto found by accident and could drag him in through the new tunnel Naruto dug up after many months. That's when Shisui decided to make Naruto his apprentice to teach him hope to become a proper shinobi in the future.
Meanwhile, Shisui was thinking of what type of work he would have Naruto working on as he wrote it down on paper—running and dodging to build stamina, finding a taijutsu style, and practicing the kata's and chakra control exercises. Shisui also wants to find out early what Naruto's elemental affinity is and get him started as soon as he is ready for the training, just like the Uchiha clan does. He would have to retrieve some from Konoha's library or maybe even the Uchiha clan's library. Also, he needed Naruto to gain the speed required to perform the [Zanzo Bunshin] since Shisui never taught the jutsu to anyone. That's when he got the excellent idea for Naruto to buy some weights; he got a chance to wear them every day, which would help him when he graduates from the academy.
Shisui will have Naruto work hard to improve his chakra control. Since he has enormous amounts, it would only be possible for him to have perfect control of the academy exercise. By helping him with this problem for the next four years, he should be average at most minor and above average at most, but it would help him in the long run. Then, he would have to see his specialization, tracking team, capture and interrogation team, or the assault team. It would significantly deepen the sense of efficiency he would get to be taught by that latter, and Naruto wouldn't be discriminated against. Hopefully, the Hokage will try to look for Naruto's best interests and tell him about his true heritage.
During Shisui's time in the academy, the instructors had most students work on their chakra control more effectively. But of course, he found another purpose for the chakra control exercise: to calm down the rowdy bunch of students and make them stay still. And to see if they can follow directions, something that most children struggle with. Shisui snickers to himself, thinking of the fond memories of his academy years; he would have to find a way to get a hold of general school material for him to be able to study here.
He was snapped out of his thoughts when Naruto was finally ready to head out to the forest to train; Shisui turned to look at Naruto to see how healthy he looked now. Compared to the first time he met him, he never knew teaching him how to hunt and track would have helped him so much. Having him find his food, edible plants, and freshwater would make such a big difference in his little brother's figure life.
(Flashback)
I slowly started to get my conscience back as I felt pain run throughout my entire body, mainly at the back of my head and right eye socket. I could also think that I had a mild headache, maybe even a concussion, but I kept my good eye close as I let sense to see if I was in any danger. I could feel that I wasn't tied down and still had control of my chakra, meaning that the person who helped me was not a shinobi. Then I felt someone with a small hand begin to clean my face; as I first guessed, it was either a girl or a young child, but at least they were trying to be very gentle around my missing eye. Then I felt someone place a cloth where my eye used to be as they began to wrap what felt like bandages around my face. It took several tries leading to believe this was a child who was trying their best with the situation.
Once the child finished cleaning and patching me up, I lay on the futon, trying to remember everything that happened. Not wanting to scare whoever helped me play the part, I pretended to be still asleep; I tried to understand the person's intentions. After what felt like forever, I decided to open one good eye to see my surroundings. My vision was a little blurry at first, but slowly, my vision began to return to normal again. I moved my head to look over to my left side and saw a little boy with spiky, yellow-blond hair and azure blue eyes staring back at me with wide eyes. Right away, I knew who this little boy was since I remember helping eliminate a few citizens for beating on the boy when he was younger. I began to guess I was receiving good karma for him, the little boy when he needed it most of the time, but sometimes it makes me wonder if humans act just as evilly as demons.
"H-hello, I-I'm Uzumaki Naruto, and w-we are in m-my secret home not far from the village. So, h-how are y-you feeling, mister?" Naruto asked as he nervously looked at the younger teenager in curiosity and some hidden fear behind the depth of his blue eyes.
"Hello there, little boy. By any chance, do you have any water I could have to drink, please?" Shisui asked as he coughed to clear his voice, which sounded raspy after being unconscious for who knows how long.
"Ahh, yes, no problem. I'll be right back," Naruto replied excitedly as he quickly left the room.
Shisui could only sigh in relief that the moment he didn't have to worry about any of Danzo's men hadn't yet found him. But he was worried that the Anbu detail that looked after the little blond child would end up discovering him, and then he would have to deal with a new can of worms. Something he didn't want to deal with while he was in this weakened state. Naruto didn't take long to return the water pouch to the stranger, who thanked him as he drank every drop. When Shisui finally finished drinking the water, he returned the pouch to Naruto.
"Thank you, little boy. I'm very grateful and sorry I forgot your name; I still don't have all my senses back yet," Shisui commented, giving a sheepish smile of embarrassment as the little Uzumaki made a pouty face.
The man knew who he was and the burden he carried; sadly, the only one who didn't know of their burden was Naruto. But the villagers' hate for him was so great that he was the village's scapegoat since they had nowhere to release their anger. Shisui started to ponder how it had gotten so bad that it almost seemed like someone was waiting for little Naruto to fall into despair. Constantly being around people who mistreated him and hated him would push him little by little into isolation, and not long after, his little mind would break. This could lead to a much bigger problem if the Sandaime doesn't give him the support that he would need for his mental health. This all smells of a plot by Shimura Danzo that has been in motion since Naruto was announced as the village's jinchuriki when he was born. He knows that the man is hungry for power, and to become Hokage himself has been his only goal from what he can remember.
Shisui was sure that Danzo had to be involved with the villagers finding out about Naruto's status as a jinchuriki and also for all the unnatural hatred of a whole village towards a child. Since the man operated from the shadows, he knew firsthand that he would go as far as to kill a Konoha shinobi for his own selfish goals. Everyone in Root knows their master desires to become the Hokage, and to make every village in the Elemental Nations kneel to Konoha's might. But first, he had to gather more information before deciding what to do next since he might still be in danger. The last thing he wanted to do was to put the little blond child in danger because of him, and worse since they were outside the village, it would be easy for Danzo's force to capture him and make him disappear. He was snapped out of his thoughts when he heard someone calling for him.
"Hey, mister, are you alright? You seem like you were out of it," Naruto asked as he tilted his head in curiosity, expecting the stranger to look at him with a smile.
"Yeah, Naruto-chan, I'm alright. I'm trying to remember what happened to me. So, where are your parents, if you don't mind me asking?" Shisui replied as the little blond face saddened upon hearing the man's question.
There was a moment where the two stayed silent as the blond thought about what to tell the man. Naruto had many things running through his mind, but he could tell the man didn't know him since he didn't have a hateful look in his eye. Naruto decided to tell the man that since he had nothing to lose if anything, this might help him release some of his frustration from his little chest. At the same time, Shisui only watched Naruto to see a series of emotions shown through his azure blue eyes. Once, Shisui made up his mind before speaking to Naruto, who only looked at him with the tilt of his head to the side.
"I'm an orphan; that's what Hokage-jiji told me. He said that my parents were killed in the Kyuubi attack when I was born. I have often asked him if he would tell me their name, but he always avoided the question. I know I'm a child and don't understand much, but I could hear the villagers always speak badly about me. I could see and feel their hate and disgust toward me, but I don't understand why; it's like all the adults know the reason but can't say." Naruto replied with a downcast look in his eyes. Shisui could only close one good eye and send silent sympathy to the little blond child.
Shisui loves his clan, and he understood that some of them weren't very good people, but to go living without knowing your true heritage is damn near cruel in his mind. Lucky for him, he was in the Anbu and was able to gather enough information in the past to learn some of Konoha's S-rank secrets. He didn't understand why the Hokage didn't give more support to the son of his predecessor; if he were the boy's father, he would take it like a slap to his face at the plane disrespect. The Sandaime could have told him who his mother, who happens to be the red-hot-blooded Habanero, was a name that brought fear to most enemies' hearts. Such a sad way for a person to live their life without knowing their true heritage, he thought that a was sad way to live and it amazed him he could survive on his own.
"Naruto-chan, what are your likes and dislikes? What are your hobbies? And your dream for the future?" Shisui asked as he waited for Naruto to reply; he narrowed his eyes in a fox-like way and fell into deep thought.
"I like to eat ramen and talk to Hokage-jiji, Teuchi-jiji, and his daughter Ayame-nee-chan. I don't like being ignored and left to fend for myself. My hobbies are pranking everyone and anyone and playing ninja. My dream is to become the strongest ninja in the village. So that the people of this village could acknowledge my existence." Naruto replied, answering all of the stranger's questions, finding it odd that he would ask such simple questions.
Shisui closed his one good eye, though, for a moment, thinking long and hard about what to do. After deliberating with himself, he took the boy under his wing and taught him everything he knew, making him his apprentice. He would teach him how to be a true shinobi, but unlike Root Anbu, who has no emotions, he would teach him his best to control his emotions suited to the situation. It would be too early in his life to change Naruto's mind into a real ninja completely. It is his way, at least, to give thanks for saving his life. Shisui would be his prominent brother figure and his sensei from the shadows to guide him in the right direction because he had a gut feeling the village and the academy instructors would try to sabotage his schooling, something he knew he couldn't allow.
"Ok, Naruto-chan, I made a decision." Shisui paused in suspense before he continued to speak again.
"To tell you the truth about what happened to me and the consequences of being betrayed when you let your guard down with people you trust. I'm not saying never to trust a person but to develop your instincts once you know you are in danger and can protect yourself instantly. And I will explain that life as a Shinobi is not all fun and games because it is a life-and-death situation. You don't have to worry about it now since you are still a child, but I'll do my best to explain, and if you don't understand, don't worry about it. But first, you'll be my eyes and ears for the village; try to listen to rumors; sometimes, you could find out information from that." Shisui explained to his new apprentice calmly and thoughtfully, making Naruto narrow his eyes in suspision.
"Y-yeah, I could do that for you, but how do I know you're not trying to endanger the village? You still haven't introduced yourself?" Naruto said as he waited for the stranger to answer his question.
"Fair enough, my name is Uchiha Shisui. I'm seventeen years old, and I guess you could say I'm a former Anbu now. The Anbu commander betrayed me by trying to take my eyes and kill me in the process, and I was barely able to get away from him before he took one of my eyes. During my escape and all the chaos, I came up with a quick plan to fake my death, but I guess some debris hit me, and I fell into the Naka River, where you found me. The man who is after me is very dangerous and holds a lot of political power in Konoha, so it would be impossible to prove to the Hokage that he attacked me. But maybe the best thing would be for me to stay in the village and protect it from the shadows, but first, I need to recover before I can think of a plan. So now that you know, will you help me with Naruto-chan?" As he explained everything to Naruto, he went as far as to ask for his help, shocking the little Uzumaki.
"It's nice to meet you, Uchiha Shisui, and yes, I'm willing to help you. So, how long will you stay here in my hideout?" Naruto responded out of curiosity. He had never had someone talk to him so kindly, only the Hokage, the ramen stand owner, and his daughter.
"To be honest, I don't even know. But if you allow me to stay here, I could become a big brother figure and your secret sensei; I'll be able to help you grow up properly by teaching you everything you need to learn, just like a family." Shisui said, feeling good about his decision and what he would do to make this little boy a good person and a protector from the shadow.
Shisui froze when he saw tears fall from the corner of Naruto's eyes, and then he realized that his words invertedly touched the one desire every lonely kid would want: a family. And by saying he would teach him to become a ninja, saying that he would become his big brother, and telling him that he would do his best to protect him from the shadows. Naruto just began to sob since he never had anyone attempt to reach out to him and help him like all the other orphans; to him, it was like a dream come true. Naruto always wanted to be acknowledged and to know that there was a reason to live, the fact that he helped someone who bad people were hunting him so he could stay alive. That same person turned out to be one of those top-secret ninjas that watch over him. And to pay him back for his kindness, he will be staying with him for the foreseeable future, something he never thought would happen in his short amount of time alive.
"T-thank y-you Uchiha Shisui, y-you made m-me the h-happiest little b-boy in Konoha. W-will it b-be o-okay to call y-you a-aniki from t-time to time?" Naruto asked, bashfully, while he wiped his tears away from his little chubby face.
"You welcome Naruto-chan. For now, it shouldn't be a problem, but when I begin to train you in the ninja arts, I will expect you to call me Shisui-sensei or sensei," Shisui replied as he ruffled Naruto hair as he beamed back at him with a foxy-grin.
(Flashback End)
When Naruto and Shisui's [Kage Bunshin] came out of their hideout, they looked around Shisui, then placed a hand on Naruto's head when they vanished in a [Shunshin]. When they appeared, they were at training ground thirty-six, as they appeared at a clearing by a lake, then Shisui [Shunshin] away for a moment and reappeared at equal distances, making a square having four rocks marking the spots. In the meantime, Naruto just watched his sensei clear up and fix the area for him to train; he started to realize that he was about to go through an extreme and painful time until his little body matured. He then saw his sensei bring many little rocks and start to make a pile of them, and Naruto began to have a bad feeling about what his sensei would use them for. Shisui appeared next to Naruto with a goofy grin a few minutes later, as the little blond child fell in surprise at his sudden appearance.
"Naruto-chan, during my time in the academy, we were in the Third Shinobi War, so many of us were taught differently compared to now. We didn't have an age limit when we needed to graduate from the academy. We must have enough skill and jutsu to survive outside the village during the war. That meant we had to wall climb, water walk, learn jutsu, and learn good teamwork. Then we had to learn how to defend ourselves from bandits, mercenaries, and missing-nins." Shisui pauses to let his words sink into Naruto's tiny brain as he continues to speak once again.
"For now, we will build your stamina; I want you to run till the sun reaches above your head. Afterward, I'll teach you the academy's basic stands; once we finish, I'll teach you how to throw kunai and shurikens onto a tree. But I will leave you alone since I still need to gather the ninja tools we need for you." Shisui explained as he gave a cocky grin to the little Uzumaki, who nodded his head excitedly.
"Ok, I could do that for now, sensei. What happens if someone finds me here on my own? What should I tell them?" Naruto asked an excellent question as Shisui touched his chin in thought.
"If they ask you what you do in the training ground, just tell them the truth. You're getting a head start in your ninja career by working out and building your stamina. If they tell you that you should be there and to go back to the village, listen to them; the last thing is for you to get into trouble with them." Shisui advised as he got a nod from the little Uzumaki, then Shisui saluted and vanished in a [Shunshin], leaving an afterimage behind.
For the next few hours, Naruto ran around the marked area his sensei made for him; after the first hour, he was beginning to get tired, but he did his best to continue till the sun was above his head. He heard a crow "caw" near a tree, alerting Naruto that his sensei were watching him from afar while running; he was told to finish, not wanting to give up his goal. Naruto always knew he had a lot of energy, which made him unable to sit or stay still; he guessed that his sensei knew this. Since he was young, he knew the best way to deal with that problem was to make him run and waste that energy. Naruto was beginning to get thirsty as he ran when he decided to look up at the sky. When he saw that the sun was above his head, he finally stopped and went to sit by a tree to rest.
Not long after, when Shisui arrived, he brought back some more water for Naruto and a light lunch before they began to work on a taijutsu style. He told Naruto to relax and enjoy his food, and he explained at the same time how they would work on the katas so he could begin to memorize them, which could become second nature to him without thinking about it. Shisui also told Naruto that afterward, he would teach him how to do chakra control exercises by doing tree climbing, which excited Naruto. So, for the next three hours, Shisui taught Naruto taijutsu katas, who slowly began to learn the moves. Shisui smiled at how good of a student the little Uzumaki was. Shisui began to teach him how to walk on a tree by having Naruto lie on the ground and channel his chakra on his feet. He explained that channeling too much will erupt and push you away; if you channel too little, you will not be able to walk or slip from the tree. When they finished the training, both returned to the hide to take a bath; after a long day, they would make dinner before calling it a day.
Months later at the Uchiha Compound
A few months passed when Uchiha Shisui disappeared and was presumed dead, and then he never reported back to the Uchiha clan. His younger cousin, Uchiha Itachi, later reported that he was in a battle with unknown Anbu members who were trying to kill him. From what Itachi saw, Shisui's last act was to protect the secrets of his clan; he triggered the explosive tags and blew his body apart. Witnessing his favorite cousin blowing himself up made the young Uchiha feel an indescribable pain that his [Sharingan] morphed into the [Mangekyou Sharingan]. From that point on, Itachi knew what he needed to do to weed out the evil that was consuming his clan, and he placed a heavy burden on himself to protect the one person he honestly couldn't hurt to make himself the enemy of all Konoha.
Uchiha Itachi was the youngest Anbu captain in Konoha's history. He was tasked with becoming a double agent to spy in case the Uchiha clan decided to do a coup d'etat. This was a similar mission that Uchiha Shisui had, but he could never execute his plan with his untimely death. Itachi hoped to sway his father's ambitious plan that might doom the Uchiha clan by creating a civil war, leaving Konoha at the mercy of the rest of the Elemental Nations. But in the end, after many talks, they agreed all because of the Uchiha elders who wanted more power for the clan, leaving no choice for him to accept an S-rank mission of eliminating the entire clan for the village's sake.
One night, Shisui came out to get fresh air while disguised after getting news from his summon that Itachi had a secret mission tonight. He had a bad feeling about it, so he decided to sneak into the Uchiha compound through a hidden tunnel that his grandfather, Uchiha Kagami, had made. It was secretly created in case of an emergency if the clan was ever in danger and they needed to escape, as he remembered long ago what happened to the Uzumaki clan. So, Shisui secretly returned to his family's old home, where he could collect his possessions. Their home was in the perfect location near the walled compound since it was peaceful. When his father passed away on a mission, and a few years later, his mother became ill and suddenly passed away when Shisui was on a long-term mission, it hit the young Uchiha hard when he returned to the village.
Shisui finished rifling through his old home, collecting the necessary items he needed, when he began to hear the commotion outside the house; a chill went down his spine when he opened the door. Shisui was able to listen to his clan members dying in the process when he came determined to save some of the children at least so the clan wouldn't die out. He wanted to go out and stop all the senseless killing, but he knew there was no time; he would become the more immediate threat to Danzo's machinations, so Shisui had to save as many of the children as possible. Shisui became worried about his auntie Mikoto and cousin Sasuke because he didn't want to see them get killed, so he vanished in a [Shunshin.] Moments later, Shisui appeared in their backyard close to the family dojo, hiding in the shadows from being seen or detected.
When Shisui saw his aunt Mikoto quickly make her way to the family dojo. He promptly went to intercept her by performing a [Shunshin], catching her off guard before she could react to the attack, and was knocked out. Shisui quickly picked up his aunt, and [Shunshin] went back to his family home to hide her away just in case someone tried to kill her as well. After dropping his aunt off at his family home, he [Shunshin] went around his area to see if he could hide and save as many children as possible. He also placed a sleeping genjutsu to keep them from making any noise. He decided to head back to his family home, not wanting to get caught by Danzo Root operatives. When Shisui arrived, he placed a wide area of genjutsu in his family home, where he left his aunt to rest before leaving the compound through the secret tunnel.
When Shisui returned to the hideout, Naruto slept peacefully without care since this was the only safe place. He then felt guilty that he could not find Sasuke since Shisui knew that he was essential to Itachi and his aunt, who was the youngest child. He hoped he would be safe and that nothing would happen to young Sasuke and the other children, so he placed genjutsu and hid from sight. He just hoped that the damage done by Itachi and that old Warhawk wouldn't ruin the Uchiha clan in the future since he felt that Danzo had a plan for the Uchiha clan; lucky for him, he was able to at least save the clan with his aunt being still alive Shisui thought.
The following day, the Anbu discovered that there was a massacre at the Uchiha clan compound, killing almost everyone, with only a few who survived. They found the Uchiha Matriarch was unconscious at an abandoned home that belonged to her nephew. They found her youngest son, Sasuke, unconscious outside the Uchiha compound; he was attacked psychologically by a powerful genjutsu. But the medics say he would recover in time with the proper treatment to help him cope with the trauma since he was so young. The last thing they needed was to have an unstable Uchiha growing up, becoming a flight risk.
Another survivor of the Uchiha clan was a young genin called Uchiha Izumi, and she was out on a last-minute mission with her team. It seemed that going on the mission saved her life, and when she heard about the massacre, her mother being one of the victims, she was devastated. Izumi had never imagined that the one person she loved and wanted to be acknowledged to catch up to would commit such a horrible crime. That left her an orphan without any parents, as she mourned for her mother and everyone in the Uchiha clan who lost their lives. Izumi knew she had to be strong and move forward, which meant being a ninja who had to endure.
There were a total of six sleeping babies that survived the massacre, either by being placed in a genjutsu to keep them asleep or an area genjutsu to hide them. And by being covered in blood, making it look like the children were dead as they slept. Then there was the story of the two half-blood Uchiha sisters, Rin and Aika, who live with their mother outside the compound and are thirteen and seven years old. No one knew of the existence of the small family since the couple who were indeed in love chose to keep it secret from the clan. The father's name is Uchiha Kenji; knowing how strict the clan was, he didn't want the clan to discriminate against his family since his daughters were half Uchiha.
The Uchiha clan stated it was not indeed allowed to marry or have sexual relations with a non-member of the clan. That was frowned upon to have a relationship with someone outside the clan, and even worse if you had children with non-clan members tainting their pure Uchiha blood. However, this was only allowed because their numbers were becoming too low, and they didn't want the Hyuga clan to have more members than them. But they didn't believe in having a branch family since it would only weaken the clan, something that the Hyuga had not realized yet, and that is the reason their family was divided, making them weak in the Uchiha's eyes. However, the Uchiha clan would still not fully acknowledge or give priority to half-blooded members.
The only reason the Sandaime Hokage discovered this secret was by pure accident, having the wife of one of his shinobi demanding news of her husband, a Uchiha, if he was still alive. After introducing herself as Kato Miyu, explaining to the Hokage that they were married in secret outside the village, and giving him the proof of the marriage certificate, he nodded and explained the situation to her. After listening to the village leader about the horrific crime that was committed by one of their clan members, she knew well that her husband was one of the poor, unfortunate people who was killed. She was devastated after learning the truth, and it would be sad when she went back to her home to explain everything to her daughters. The Sandaime explained to Miyu that the Uchiha Matriarch was the only real adult to survive the massacre and held power over all the clan earnings and possession status. When the meeting was over, and she silently left the village leader's office, the Sandaime Hokage could only sigh in frustration with this tragedy.
Then, the Hokage that night had to think about a lot of the situation that was happening with the Uchiha clan and how he could fix it before any more tragedy happened to one of the founding clans of the village. All he wanted to do was get rid of all the traitors from the clan and keep the children, older adults, and anyone who was a civilian without a [Sharingan] to live. But something must have happened for his order not to be followed, and he would have to find out from Itachi what happened. The Sandaime had suspicions about who might have been involved in changing his orders without caring for anyone, and if his suspicions were true, he would have to punish the man for thinking he was above the Hokage. Now, he has to fix all the trouble that man has caused indirectly, weaken Konoha's force by eighty-three point-five percent, and fix the inner strife in the village.
The paperwork will be a nightmare for all this trouble, as the Hokage thought, distraught, losing all the power of the Uchiha clan members. He has two female kunoichis from the Uchiha clan who are genin; if you count the Uchiha matriarch to join the ninja forces, she would have a powerful jonin. But sadly, that would be impossible since she had to take on the Uchiha clan's financial situation and how they would raise the next generation of Uchiha, this time with a female head till her youngest son came of age. Fortunately for them, the Uchiha clan was so wealthy they might be able to afford just raising the kids and not involving themselves in the shinobi matters until their numbers grow. Only time will tell at the end of her decision since she had so many babies she needed to raise.
The Sandaime was thinking about what was best for the village and the clan while smoking his pipe, thinking long and hard after long, exhausting days ahead. He decided to speak to the Uchiha Matriarch and explain the situation with the two half-blooded Uchiha and their mother, who is not a Uchiha herself. Suppose she can accept this and is willing to overlook some of the clan laws. Then, the small family would be able to move into the Uchiha compound into their dead husband's home. That would give them one extra adult able to help with the children. With two teenage girls who can also help during their off time, everything would be okay if they are not training.
Further down the list of things to do, he would summon the shinobi council to an emergency meeting to discuss the massacre of the Uchiha clan and the possible ramifications this would have on the village. To keep the image of Konoha being the strongest, the Hokage will push the rest of the shinobi forces to take on more missions to compensate for losing the Uchiha clan's power. And even after the Kyuubi attack and the Yondaime Hokage's loss, Konoha has always endured the loss they keep getting. And what are they supposed to do now without the military police force, which will no longer be available until the foreseeable future, when the children of the Uchiha clan are all grown up? Once everyone discusses everything and all opinions are heard, the shinobi council ends; he has a severe meeting with one of his advisors, Shimura Danzo, and takes action against the Uchiha clan. Yes, it would be an extremely long day with a lot of paperwork, thought the elderly Hokage as he worked throughout the night.
A/N: Hello fellow writers and readers the chapter was re-edited and Beta by EvIlDemon who happens to be my son. I hope you have enjoyed the chapter cause I finally was satisfied with it after the fifth try. The good thing I have a full picture of where I want this story to go. I don't want to follow canon and since this fanfiction we have to create our version of it, I think. If anyone has a question PM. I would appreciate reviews to get a better feel of the story.
