Chapter 9
Uzumakis meeting the Uchiha Matriarch

When the Kato family woke up the following morning, they knew it would be hectic since they would move to their tou-san house. But first they got ready for the day then after washing up. The family had a large breakfast since they packed and cleaned the place. Their mother left after eating breakfast to start her new job at the Uchiha Matriarch home to help care for the babies. Rin's sensei also informed them that their Genin squad had requested a mission to help the Kato family move their belongings to their new home in the Uchiha compound. When afternoon came around, Rin's team showed up ready to help out their team member.
"Ensui-sensei, I see that you received Uchiha-sama's mission request. I want our team to help me move my family's belongings to our new home," Rin told her sensei, who looked bored.
"Yes, that's correct. It seems this mission is going to take all day. How troublesome. So what will you want us to do then, Rin-chan?" Ensui-sensei said, wanting to know the best strategy to finish the work earlier.
"My sister and I packed many of our belongings in boxes. I'll be able to go with the team to show them the new place. Afterward, Ensui-sensei, I'll stay behind with my sister to keep packing while you guys take our belongings to the new place. If we had storage scrolls, we could bring the furniture easier." Rin told her sensei the best way to approach their mission.
"Okay, we can move the boxes to the new home whenever you are ready. Man, this is going to be some troublesome work for today. I'm sure Keko and Hiro will not mind this mission since it will be easy," Ensui-sensei said, sighing.
"Well, it can't help. Hopefully, those two will not laze around when the work becomes difficult. Otherwise, I'm going to give both of them a beating," Rin commented as she cracked her knocks to emphasize that she would deal great pain to her teammates.
When Rin's team showed up, the boys decided to look around her place while their sensei talked to Rin about what to do. They saw her little sister boxing items up in the living room. Keko and Hiro walked down the hall as Keko looked for the bathroom. At the same time, Hiro was leaning against the wall when something caught his eye in the room before him, and he went to look at the item. Surprisingly, he found a bra and panties lying on the floor. Hiro was about to pick them up when Keko startled him, giving the wrong image of him being a pervert. He had a bad feeling about this and it would not end well for both boys if they didn't head back with their sensei.
"I knew it!" Keko said in a harsh whisper. "You're also a pervert; we have something else in common, Hiro. I just never knew you had an eye on our teammate. Well, then again, I don't blame you. Rin was one of the cutest kunoichis in our class at the time. So, are you planning on taking her panties as a prize to remember this day? Keko said with a wry grin, giving Hiro a wink.
"Are you freaking insane!" Hiro began to freak out, and he held the items in his hands. "I was just walking by when I saw something lying on the floor. I decided to look when I found them on the floor. I would pick them up and move them on the bed. I don't want her to catch me holding her private belongings; otherwise, we are going to catch one hell of a beating for being perverts." Hiro replied, answering Keko's question.
Suddenly, they heard someone walking towards them, and they began to panic. Hiro threw the evidence elsewhere. He turned around quickly to see who it was when they saw Rin's little sister. The only thing running through both boys' minds was for their teammate's little sister not to have the wrong idea about them. A scowl came across her pretty little face when she kept looking back and forth at them before she spoke.
"What is a pair of perverts doing in my nee-chan room? I never knew my nee-chan teammates were perverts, a bunch of perverts as well. I guess she was right about boys," Aika said to the two boys, who had stupefied faces.
"No, wait. You are getting the wrong idea, kid. From what I saw, we were walking around your place since we had never been here before and looked around to see that your family was moving." Hiro gave a believable explanation to the little girl.
"Whatever it seems, you two perverts don't have a clue why you are here then. It would be best if you went see your sensei to get started with your mission; he will have all the answers you need. And by the way, I'm telling my nee-chan you were in her room. Good luck, perverts!" She walked away, leaving two boys who lost all color on their faces.
When Hiro and Keko regained color, they returned to their sensei and female teammates. At the same time, one hoped that His teammate might be merciful with him. Since he was not the one to pick up the female undergarments, on the other hand, Hiro cursed his curiosity for putting himself in that type of situation. And if his female teammates find out he was the one who picked up her undergarments, things might not end well with him. And then both heard Rin shout at them.
"Where have you two been?" Rin questioned them as she put her hands on her hips and glared at them.
"We have never been to your place before, so we thought we would take a quick look. From what we can see, the place seems packed as if you were moving to a new place or out of the village?" Keko said, only to hear three people sigh in exasperation.
"Uchiha-sama has requested today's mission to help Rin's family move to the Uchiha compound. Uchiha-sama selected Rin's mother to help her raise the Uchiha clan's babies. Our team and Uchiha Izumi's team will be the only two teams at this time to do a certain mission for the Uchiha clan. The Hokage also informed that Uchiha-sama was appointed guardian for Uzumaki Naruto, his godmother since
Uchiha-sama and Uzumaki's mother were good friends. Suppose you see a little boy with blond hair, cerulean blue eyes, and whisker marks. Do not be alarmed by him being around the Uchiha compound if you see him. That also goes for you, Rin; I don't think anyone has told you yet. But I'm sure after you get settled in your new place, Uchiha-sama will also explain things to you and your family." Ensui-sensei finished explaining to the team as they took in all the extra information.
And for the rest of the day they helped Rin and her family to move all their belongings to their home at the Uchiha compound. The rest of the team met Rin's mother for the first time, and they showed the older woman respect just like their mothers. Ensui was extremely happy to see his team finally working like a proper team should since he had been trying to teach them teamwork from the beginning. Hiro and Rin, being the runner-up students for top of the class, respectfully, were placed with the second worst student of their class, who happened to be Keko. At the same time, Hiro got along well with Rin since she was not a fangirl like some of his fellow students.
Keko was just a random person with different mood swings and personality changes. But it only seems to be noticed by Rin and himself. As for their sensei, he was a lazy fellow, giving them suggestions and advice on completing their mission the most efficiently. If we had any questions, he would listen to their concerns or ideas to guide them to a better path in being a ninja. Sometimes, the answers and advice were to their liking, and other times, they couldn't understand the man.
The exciting part of the day was when Rin's little sister, Aika, finally introduced herself. The first thing out of her mouth was, "Hello, perverts!" while waving at them with a smile on her face. The two male teammates froze in their tracks while holding a box when Rin asked her little sister to explain why she called her teammates that; a mischievous grin appeared on her face when she turned to them.
And they knew right there that their teammate's little sister was also a little demon. When she finished explaining what happened to her older sister, she pointed at Hiro with a horrified look on her red face, saying, "Pervert!" and "Pantie thief!" She cursed Rin's little sister to his dismay and cursed his curiosity again. He hoped this would not get around the village in the future, harming his image and reputation.
Ensui couldn't help but smirk at his best student's misfortune. Only to feel a strong killing intent coming from Rin when she finally got her mind together. Hiro morphed from a horrified look to righteous indignation; Rin's eyes looked as they became inflamed, telling both her male teammates to prepare themselves for pain. Since she will give them both a thrashing, they will never forget. While all this was happening, Rin's little sister could only grin at the boy's predicament. She could only hope to watch her nee-chan throttle them perverts.
On the last trip, they brought the belongings and heard a fellow genin call for their female teammate. When she caught up with them, they were having a conversation with one another. When they reach Rin's home, they see that their fellow genin lives beside them. After a few more words they were having in the end, they invited her for dinner since they were neighbors. Once they finished dropping off the boxes, her teams had a long conversation about the type of mission they would be getting in the following months before they left.
Earlier with Izumi
After the massacre, the Hokage had granted leave of absence to Uchiha Izumi of her duties so she would be able to mourn the death of her mother. In a way, Izumi understood why Itachi tried to kill off the clan; it made her feel guilty that she agreed with what he did. The meetings she attended were too radical, and she couldn't understand why the clan didn't try to find a peaceful solution. Both of them were in agreement that the route the Uchiha clan was taking was a dangerous one. The clan head and elders should have tried seeing the bigger picture if a civil war broke out, but still, so many innocent people didn't deserve to die.
Even if Itachi committed this horrible crime against their clan, she still loved him. She was still trying to figure out why he would do such a thing when she realized the answer. She pales at the thought of the Hokage finding out about the Uchiha clan's traitorous actions. Suppose the Hokage passed judgment on them by ordering the elimination of all Uchiha members involved with the coup. Why kill the civilians and children?
It didn't make any sense to Izumi, and she felt that there was more behind it. But what was she supposed to do with these feelings she had? In a way, she was angry about her mother's death, the only person she loved in the Uchiha clan. But being an average Genin with the only advantage of having the [sharingan] might not have enough political power for the Hokage to tell the Uchihas the truth. Izumi hopes that she will run into Itachi and get the answer out of him in the future. Izumi looked determined to get stronger to protect the remaining members of the Uchiha clan. She hoped the Uchiha matriarch would train her with the [sharingan] since she was the last experienced Jonin from the Uchiha clan. Fortunately, she will have someone around her age and Itachi's younger brother to spar with her.
For the last couple of days, Izumi has been working on each of her ninja skills to make herself a well-rounded ninja without the help of her eyes. Itachi told her that, in time, you would find yourself more powerful than you could ever imagine. You only need to practice occasionally with the [sharingan] to learn how to use it properly. Izumi remembers when she was in the academy that Itachi would give her suggestions for improving herself when she first became a kunoichi. That and the night of Kyuubi's attack, when he saved her life, she began to develop feelings towards the stoic teenager.
Because Izumi knew she needed to improve in a lot of areas. But she still needs to figure out what should be her specialization. Regarding taijutsu, Izumi was better than the average genin, switching from the academy style to the Uchiha's interceptor style. As for her ninjutsu, Izumi knew the basic three academy ones; as for her family jutsu, she was still learning the [Katon: Hōsenka no jutsu] because it didn't consume a lot of chakra. Since Izumi didn't have the chakra for the [Katon: Gōkakyū no jutsu], she would improvise with what she could do. As for genjutsu, Izumi could dispel them with her eyes and by destabilizing her chakra. Izumi could do subtle manipulations to confuse her opponents with her eyes, and she could perform the [Magen: Nakakumi no jutsu] to subject her opponent's vision to their greatest fear. She also practices her [shuriken jutsu] while manipulating wire strings for a surprise attack.
Izumi is a beautiful girl with long brown hair that goes to her mid-back and has long bangs framing her face. She has onyx black eyes, with a beauty mark under her right eye. She wears a sleeveless, high-collared purple shirt with the Uchiha symbol on the back, baggy black pants, and a shuriken holster on her right leg. She wears two fingerless gloves that run the length of her arms and black ninja sandals.
At this moment, Izumi was practicing her [Katon: Hōsenka no jutsu], trying to figure out the correct amount of chakra to use. Then, Izumi tried to figure out how many small fireballs she could control before losing them. Izumi repeatly did the jutsu as a trial and error until she learned the jutsu properly. She did this for a while until she was low on chakra and began picking up her tools, which were scattered everywhere. Lucky for her, it only took around thirty minutes to collect her weapons around the training field.
Izumi started to walk back to her house; in the distance, she saw a fellow Genin named Kato Rin, a slim teenage girl below average height with onyx black eyes. She has long, onyx black hair, which curls slightly at the ends, with two bangs framing her face and reaching down to her chest. The most distinctive trait is her white tip highlights. Rin wore a black sleeveless halter neck shirt with a midnight blue sash around her waist, dark grey pants with a shuriken holster around her right thigh, and long fingerless black gloves. She also had bandages wrapped around her wrists and footwear. She wore her forehead protector on her left forearm. When she decided to call to get her attention, she caught up to the small group.
"Rin, hey, how are you doing today? So what are you up to?" Izumi asked her while she caught her breath as the Genin squad stopped.
"Hey, I'm here with my team, moving our possessions to our new home. Uchiha-sama gave our mother a new job to help raise the babies. We needed to live close by so my mother could be summoned. We are going to be renting a house near here. So what about you? What are you up to?" Rin replied while carrying some boxes in her possession.
"O-oh, I see. Well, I was returning home to shower after a long training day. I was busy training one of my fire jutsu and my shuriken jutsu. But I realized one of my biggest weaknesses right now. Until I can improve significantly, I will be sticking with D-rank missions. It is better than going out on a C-rank mission not prepared." Izumi replied to Rin's question while looking at the rest of her squad, who were happy to help their team member while getting paid for the mission.
"Ha, that doesn't surprise me since you were the best kunoichi of our class. But I'm sure you will be able to become a chunin in no time. So what area do you live in, Izumi?" Rin asked, hoping that her friend lived in the same area so they could walk together.
"Naw, my sensei said that it is better to polish my skills before I try to overestimate my abilities. People who overestimate their abilities end up dead in the ninja world. Well, let's say I'm heading in the same direction as you and your team," Izumii said, as Rin nodded in acknowledgment of what her friend said.
"Well, that's nice advice; I can't fault you there with that logic. Maybe later, we could practice with one another and maybe have a friendly spar. What do you say?" Rin asked as the group began to walk for a few minutes until they reached their destination.
"I see, so you became my new neighbor next door, huh? The house on the left is mine, and it's pretty big for someone young like me. But I grew up here, and ever since the massacre when my kaa-san died, I didn't have the heart to move out and sell the place. But I'll be alright; life goes on," Izumi said, making the rest of the group feel uncomfortable.
"Oh, wow, what a small world. We are going to be neighbors then. We live next door. Well, if you ever want to train or maybe hang out, come give me a knock next door then," Rin said as she placed her hand out for a handshake.
"Thanks for the offer; I'll definitely take you up on your offer. One day, we will take a mission together with our teams. Izumi commented as she put her out and shook Rin's hand.
"Okay, then. See you later, Izumi. Maybe you can come over for dinner if you're not busy tonight." Rin inviting her friend to her new place would be nice other than her mother and younger sister.
"Okay, so what time should I come over?" Izumi asked so she could determine whether she had time to take a bath and then go by a homewarming gift.
"I'll see you around six tonight, then Izumi," Rin said, waving goodbye as her team followed her inside her place to drop off the boxes.
Izumi smiled and thought it was about time she started making more friends for the future. Then she smelled something foul and began to smell herself as she made a disgruntled face. Izumi ran inside, slammed the door, and raced to bathe to be ready for dinner tonight. But she still had to go to the shopping district to buy some items for tonight. Izumi didn't want to seem rude for not bringing something to someone's place for the first time they visited.
Outside the Uchiha clan Compound
After thirty minutes, the two Uzumakis their sightseeing as they continued to walk on the road towards Naruto's godmother's home. They kept chatting about random things until they reached the Uchiha compound. Both children walked right in without any problems or hostile looks, and it was a nice change of pace from the usual when people gave him dirty looks to the blond Uzumaki. But the only eerie thing was that the Uchiha compound was like a ghost town, with so many places deserted; they were searching for the Uchiha Matriarch residence, which happens to be Naruto's godmother.
As they slowly made their way through the empty roads, something caught their attention from a distance, so they hurried to see what it was. Both kids hoped to find someone to help them with directions to his godmother's house. Naruto caught on his left on the other side of the road that they were heading out of the compound. Seeing his chance to ask someone, Naruto grabbed Karin's hand and pulled her toward the group of older teenagers. They hoped they could help him and Karin get to the Uchiha Matriarch residence.
Then, all of a sudden, someone placed their hand on the top of Naruto's head, and he shrieked in surprise. Behind him was a beautiful teenage girl giggling at Naruto for getting scared. Izumi would have never thought of catching him off guard to the point of giving the poor boy a heart attack. After all, she was about to buy a dessert for dinner as a welcoming gift for her new neighbors. And to her surprise, Izumi ran into the cute little blond boy and his cute little red-haired friend walking around the Uchiha compound. So she quickly went to find out why they were there till she snuck up on them.
"Hello there, Whiskers. Is there something that I could help you with? By the way, I'm Uchiha Izumi." She said while ruffling his hair. He glared at the older girl for what she did.
Naruto then pouted at the older girl for scaring the hell out of him. On the other hand, Karin covered her face while stifling her giggles. Izumi could only smile at the little boy's antics when she decided to caress his little whiskers. The next thing that happened was truly unexpected: Naruto began to purr. Realizing what had happened, he slapped his hand to his mouth to stop the unexpected sound. The two girls stood there with wide eyes, unable to believe what happened. Then, out of nowhere, Karin did the same thing, having the same results. Then you heard a "Kawaii!" in unison and glumped on the poor boy. Trapped and nowhere to escape, he closed his eyes and waited for his fate. In the end, all you heard was a scream of protest and a lot of whining for them to let him go. When all was said and done, Naruto finally could ask Izumi his question.
"Izumi-chan, where can we find the Uchiha Matriarch's residence? The Hokage asked me to go over there and talk with her about personal matters." Naruto asked politely, and he gave Izumi a wry look.
"Oh, if that's all you wanted to know, you should have told me earlier. We could have been there long ago; the last thing you need to do is to upset Uchiha-sama." Izumi replied to Naruto's question, waving at the kids to follow her.
So then Izumi looked at the sky and guessed how long she had left before going to Rin's home to eat dinner. With all her free time, it had indeed been a long one. After a short walk, they stopped at a nice-looking home that looked bigger than most of the houses in the Uchiha compound. When they reached the gate, they banged to shake the bell to let someone know they were waiting in front of the house.
"Well, I wish you luck. Hopefully, Uchiha-sama will be in a good mood to receive you at her home as visitors," Izumi told the kids, just as a warning of good faith before Sasuke tried to chase them out of there.
"Thank you, Izumi-chan; I hope to see you around. You're such a nice person. I hope I'll have something for you next time we meet." Naruto said as he blushed in embarrassment.
"Ah, you're so cute, Whiskers. I could hug you to death. Have a good evening, you two, and be safe." Izumi said as she headed towards the exit of the Uchiha compound to begin her quest for a gift and dessert.
The door slid open to the appearance of a raven-haired boy with onyx-black eyes. He has fair skin while having a look of indifference on his face. Dress in a dark blue collar long-sleeve shirt with white shorts and blue ninja sandals. At the same time, he was giving both Naruto and Karin an analytical gaze to determine how to handle the situation beforehand.
"What do you want? Isn't it late for you to drop by a stranger's place? You should leave before I get angry since we were about to have dinner." Sasuke said as he became hostile with the two Uzumaki's.
"I am here to see the Uchiha Matriarch since the Hokage sent us here," Naruto replied, trying to appease the boy who looked like he wanted to fight.
"Che, whatever you say, Dobe, I don't have time to argue. Wait here and let me go get my kaa-san." Sasuke slid close to the door, leaving the two Uzumaki to their own devices. They looked at one another, and their first thought of him was "rude."
"What a jerk! They could have had better manners," Karin commented, annoyed at their treatment.
"Well, I don't know about you, but his hair looked like a duck's butt if you think about it. We might have to call him emo-sama." Naruto replied while attempting to act like a pompous prick, and this caused Karin to giggle once again.
Not long after, the sliding door opened to reveal a beautiful woman in her mid-thirties. She was of average height and fair-skinned, just like her son. She had long, straight black hair with some parts of midnight blue, with bangs hanging on either side of her face to roughly frame her cheeks and black eyes. She wore a purple blouse, a black skirt, a light yellow apron, and blue shinobi sandals.
When Mikoto saw who it was, she gave Naruto a small smile to show the young Uzumaki she held no animosity towards him. Then Mikoto saw the person next to him and was shocked to see the representation of a long-dead friend and her husband standing right next to him. It brought back memories of when they were children going to the academy. Once Mikoto was done with her observations, she began to speak.
"Good evening, Naruto-kun. I am glad that you have come. We have a lot to discuss. But why don't you come to dinner with me and my son? He would like to meet someone his age and become friends." The Uchiha Matriarch moved out of the way to welcome them inside.
Naruto and Karin looked at one another uncomfortably. Since they had already eaten dinner earlier, it would be disrespectful to refuse her hospitality since she had invited him over. Naruto and Karin only drop their shoulders in defeat in their compromising position. The only thing they could do was to say.
"Thank you, Uchiha-sama, for the invitation. We are both very grateful," Karin said, slightly bowing while forcing the blond to do the same.
Once they stepped inside the house and took off their sandals. They followed the Uchiha Matriarch to the dinner table and asked them to sit. Mikoto was finishing dinner when she called for Sasuke to come to eat dinner. Five minutes later, he showed up with his hands in his pockets and raised an eyebrow to see both strangers from earlier. He gave an arrogant sniff and took his seat next to his mother.
"Before we start dinner, let me explain something, Sasuke. Earlier we had an important council meeting. There I found out that I was chosen to become Naruto-kun's godmother. That automatically makes me his guardian of him. And by extension, I will also be her guardian since they are from the same clan. Naruto-kun's mother was my good friend when we were growing up. And we dream of both of you becoming friends just like we were when we were little girls. If she were alive, and both your father and I were dead, she would've been your godmother, too, Sasuke. Since Naruto's mother died during the Kyuubi attack, that honor fell upon my hands. Do you understand my son?" Sasuke nodded his head slowly. The last thing he wanted to do was upset his mother in front of guests as she continued to speak. "I don't want you to think that anyone will be replacing you or anything. We will provide a home for him and his cousin." The Uchiha Matriarch was going to continue speaking when Sasuke interrupted her.
"Kaa-san, we don't have any space for them to stay in our home. And the last thing I want is for them to sleep in that room. I couldn't accept that to think of the memories left by that traitor." Sasuke said with a pleading eye to his mother.
"Sasuke-kun, if you would have let me finish explaining everything before you rudely interrupted me." Sasuke's mother smiled sweetly as everyone in the room felt ominous doom. All the children had the same thought running through their minds: mothers are super scary when you anger them.
"As I said, since Naruto-kun has been living in his apartment since he was four, I would let him stay at Shisui's old place. And Karin-chan, having the knowledge of common sense who has grown up with parents, will be able to teach Naruto-kun manners. I would be glad to teach him myself if he chose that route." giving the young blond that sweet smile, making him pale. Tomorrow, we will shop for food, clothes, and other items. I will request a mission for two genin squads to clean the place while we are out shopping. Oh, we are going to have so much fun shopping. I'm all excited as well. It's been a while since I've bought anything for my home. Sasuke-chan, do you want to also come with me, my son? It would make me happy if you did." Sasuke's mother asked him, only for him to sigh in defeat since she was not asking him but subtly commanding him.
"Of course, kaa-san, I'll go as well," Sasuke answered his mother, giving her a forced smile, not wanting to get her angry at him.
"Naruto-kun, I want to ensure you live here at the Uchiha compound. It will be safer than the place you are living at. The villagers won't be able to harass you anymore since we are further away from the village." Mikoto explained to the little Uzumaki to give him some peace of mind.
Once they finished speaking of some issues, they began to eat their food. They ate slowly and quietly while everyone was having their thoughts. When everyone finished eating, they began to help clean up. Once everything was picked up and cleaned up, they noticed it was becoming late; they thanked them for the dinner and good night before leaving the Uchiha Matriarch's home.
"Naruto-kun, why did you seem excited when they said we were moving into that house?" Karin asked as she had a curious look.
"There's no special reason. I heard rumors that this place was special. But you don't have to worry about that, Karin-chan. You will know in due time; that's all you need to know," Naruto replied cryptically, making her raise an eyebrow.
So Naruto grabbed her hand and pulled her with him as they returned to his apartment. Dammit, it's going to be a long night, Naruto thought to himself. Little did he know a person was watching from the shadows, and then they vanished into the night.
Kato Residence
When Rin entered the home, boxes were everywhere, and there was minimal room to walk. Rin called out to see if her little sister was home so they could talk about making dinner for tonight. Rin heard some noise from upstairs; she guessed Aika was in her room. Rin decided to go to her room to get her clothes ready so she could bathe after a long day of moving their possessions. She sat on her bed to rest as she looked around the room she set up. Rin then grabbed her things and walked over to her sister's room as she entered without knocking.
"Aika-chan, can you help get the dinner table ready before kaa-san gets home? It would be nice after a long day that kaa-san can relax. Plus, I invited our neighbor. Her name is Uchiha Izumi, and she is one of the survivors. Izumi is my fellow genin and was one of my former classmates." Rin explained to her sister as she continued to speak. "I'll get some dinner at Ichiraku ramen and be back as quickly as possible. Just make sure that you make a walkway around the house to be able to move around." Rin said as she put her sandals back on to leave.
"Hai, nee-chan. I'll do my best," Aika said, agreeing to her older sister's request.
Half an hour later, the girl's mother came home from caring for the babies. Miyu was tired and ready to relax but remembered that she still had to make dinner for her children. When Miyu entered the kitchen, she saw that they had dinner already and had a bowl of ramen for her as well. Miyu also noticed that they had a guest there eating ramen. Izumi saw Rin's mother for the first time. She stood up from her seat to introduce herself.
"Good evening, Kato-san. I'm Uchiha Izumi. It's nice to meet you. And welcome to the Uchiha compound. I'm your next-door neighbor and thank you for having me here for dinner. I bought some dessert and a doormat as a welcome gift," She said while bowing respectfully at the older woman.
"Good evening, Izumi-chan. I'm Kato Miyu, and I'm glad to meet you. I'm sorry for the mess in the house. Since we just moved in, everything is a mess and disorganized." Rin's mother explained, giving Izumi a tired smile.
Once everyone said itadakima, they began to eat dinner and have minor conversations, getting to know one another and what they like to do in their free time. They had a few good laughs as Aika caught one of Rin's teammates flinging aside her undergarments left on the floor by the door, leaving a blushing Rin fuming in silent anger that someone saw something private of hers. Rin promised herself that she would deliver righteous justice to both her teammates for snooping around her things. Miyu and Izumi couldn't stop laughing at the story Aika told them.
Izumi told them about her day since she was given leave after the massacre. Since early morning, Izumi has been training hard to improve herself and become a better kunoichi. She needs to work on her weaknesses and improve in other areas of her ninja arts. And that was when she ran into Rin and her perverted teammates when they found out that they were neighbors. That is when Rin invited her to dinner.
On the other hand, Rin had a busy day, planning what to do and how to do it. While helping move her belongings and guide her team to their destination. They had a few slip-ups but completed their mission after a long day. And that is how the rest of the dinner went: everyone getting to know one another better and becoming friends while making bonds. When everything was said and done Izumi said her goodbyes and went home. The night ended with them cleaning the mess in the kitchen, and all of them took showers, retiring for the night.
Konoha - Shopping day
The following morning, when Naruto woke up, he fell off the couch. Not aware that he slept on the sofa, he began to remember everything that happened yesterday. Naruto groan as he thought of yesterday's events and how his life is about to change since a Uzumaki clan member was found. Naruto's mother's "will" revealed he had godparents and that he would be living with one of them. Naruto wanted everything to stay the same way, but it seemed like life threw a wrench at him. Before, no one paid attention to him as they let him do what he wanted. Naruto got off the floor and went to his closet to get a pair of clean clothes he had hidden away. When Naruto opened the closet, he got on his hands and knees when he began to pull up the floorboard. Naruto had hidden, there was a wooden box that had emergency clothes, money, an old tanto, a few kunai's, shuriken, and ninja wire he found. He also had smoke bombs, flash bombs, and chili pepper balloons. He kept them in case of emergency if he needed to escape. Naruto packed his things in his boxes so that later they would be easiest to bring back to their new place. When Naruto finished, he grabbed the clothes and went to take a quick shower.
When Naruto finished showering, he began planning what they would do in the morning. Before they had to go to the Uchiha compound to see the Uchiha Matriarch, he had to wake up his cousin Karin first. Hopefully, she wouldn't get mad at him for pulling a prank on her, and he couldn't help himself from frightening her awake from her sleep. They still had to get something to eat for breakfast before they went to the Uchiha compound.
Naruto slammed the door open and yelled, "Karin-chan, it's time to wake up! Don't make me over there and tickle you awake; you hear me!" He shouted, trying to see if that would get her to wake up quicker.
Karin shrieked at the sudden way her cousin woke her up in such a rude manner. Naruto always had an impulse to prank people who couldn't help themselves. Karin gave him a death glare for scaring her out of her skin and not letting her rest properly. Naruto, not knowing how to read the situation, had a good laugh at Karin's expanse. Embarrassed that her cousin scared her to the point she screamed, she vows to pay him back for pranking her in such a wrong way.
"Naruto! That was not a nice way to wake up a lost family member you first met. Most people would consider that a rude gesture to the point of bad manners. I guess I will have to work with you to teach you some manners and common sense since you were an orphan. So don't worry about it and leave it to me. Since we are Uzumakis, we have always had to help each other," Karin said as she grabbed her glasses from the nightstand.
Naruto felt bad after Karin scolded him for pranking her and acting like he didn't have manners. Even though Shisui-sensei did so to the point of making it part of his training. But he had to act like an orphan who grew up in the slums of Konoha without any guidance. Sensei did tell him that a ninja's greatest weapon was deception. That is why he has to play the part of a fool until he gets permission from his sensei to tell her. They ensure she is trustworthy before he can reveal the truth to her. Not long after Naruto finished his thoughts, Karin came out ready. Before they left the apartment, Karin instructed him firmly to clean up after himself before leaving the home. That was an absolute rule. After lecturing Naruto for a few minutes, they finally went to get breakfast.
"Karin-chan, before we see the Uchiha, let's get a quick bite. The last thing we need is to be invited for breakfast if my godmother hears our hungry bellies," Naruto commented as he waited for Karin's response.
"Why yes, I think that would be best. Do you know of a place where we can eat?" Karin said as she waited for her cousin's answer.
Once they arrived, Naruto sent Karin to get him some ramen for takeout since the Hokage never said he could ask someone else to buy it for him. Naruto, being quick-witted, found a loophole in the old man's punishment and refused to go another day without ramen. At the same time, Karin shook her head in amusement at her cousin's antics. Once Naruto gave her his order, she went into the ramen stand, where he waited for Karin to come out so they could eat elsewhere. When Karin came out, she smiled as she passed the food bag to Naruto for him to carry.
On their way to the Uchiha compound, both Uzumakis stopped at a lake, where they made their way to the dock to sit and eat. Karin told Naruto how the village seemed so peaceful and that she felt comfortable there. Naruto smiled, making him look like a fox, and told her he was happy she felt that way. After finishing their food and placing all the trash in the bag, they headed to his godmother's home. And the rest of the way, they just talked and listened to one another stories of their short lives. When they got to the house, they rang the bell again for someone to open the door.
"Good morning, Naruto-kun and Karin-chan. How are you two doing this morning?" The Uchiha Matriarch asked, looking at the kids with a smile while she burped the baby in her arms.
"Good morning, Uchiha-sama; we are doing just fine. Before coming here, we went to eat breakfast at Naruto-kun's favorite Ramen stand. We promise to be here early to go shopping," Karin replied while pushing her glasses up and trying to control one side of her hair since it was always untidy.
"I guess I don't have to ask Kato-san to make something for both of you since you'll already eat. We still have to wait for my son Sasuke to finish eating his food so we can shop for clothes and furniture for your new home. We have to get your kids ready for the new academy year. Since I'm your godmother and guardian, I must watch over you, Naruto-kun. And since Karin-chan is a member of your clan, she would be able to stay with you as well." The Uchiha matriarch said that she stopped paddling the child back when she heard the baby burp before she continued to speak again.
"But first, I have to get all the children in the household ready so we can leave. So come follow me and leave your sandals by the entrance," Mikoto reminded them as she began to walk inside the house. At the same time, the two Uzumaki listened to her request and followed.
When they entered the home, they were amazed to see how lively the house was this early morning. They saw Kato-san taking care of three newborns while two teen girls cared for the rest of the kids. Mikoto told them to sit on the couch and wait for her return before they were ready to leave. Once the Uchiha Matriarch left to get ready, not long after, Sasuke came walking into the living room having one of his eyebrows raised as if asking the question in his mind, "Why the hell you people in my house!"
"Geez, Sasuke, did you forget that your kaa-san was taking us shopping today?" Naruto rebukes the cracky boy, who seems mad at the world.
"A yes, I remember that happening; it must have slipped my mind. I apologize for the rudeness," Sasuke replied, turning his head to the side in embarrassment.
"Yesterday, Uchiha-sama told us we would live in one of the houses here. So, she offered to take us to the store to buy clothes, furniture, and other miscellaneous items for the new place. That is the reason we came back again for the shopping trip." Karin explained this to Sasuke, who nodded in understanding of the situation.
"Sasuke, are you going to enter the academy as well," Naruto asked in hopes of making him his friend a male friend.
"Hn" Was the only thing I heard from Sasuke.
"Huh, what is that supposed to mean, Sasuke? Karin and I are also going to be joining to become ninjas. Doesn't that sound so much fun to you, becoming powerful together? After we return from the shopping trip, Karin and I will be training. Do you wanna join us?" Naruto asked Sasuke as he scratched the back of his head, feeling embarrassed.
"That only if we have time since we are going to be busy getting our new home organizing it," Karin interjected, in case they could not keep the promise.
"Hn!" was going to be Sasuke's only response till he got whacked in the back of his head by a pretty girl with blueish white hair, black eyes, and fair skin around the same age as them. Aika was giving Sasuke a deadpan face, daring him to give another one-word syllable answer again. The only thing he did was scowl at the girl as Sasuke left, rubbing his head as he entered the dining room past the rest of the children and sat furthest away from them. Sasuke ate his breakfast while brooding to get more power and thinking of the best way to kill his brother. At the same time, the rest of the dining room was lively. Sasuke quickly ate breakfast and returned to his room without saying another word. In the meantime, the other three children introduced themselves.
"Hiya! I'm Kato Aika. Nice to meet you. I didn't think there were any other kids my age living here. So, do you wanna play later when I finish helping my kaa-san around the house?" Aika said excitedly at the thought of all the fun things they could do with some new friends.
"Hey there, I'm Uzumaki Karin, and this is my cousin Uzumaki Naruto from the Uzumaki clan; as for your invitation to play later on. We might have to reschedule some other time since we are leaving with Uchiha-sama, who happens to be Naruto-kun's godmother. We will be leaving on a shopping trip to get clothes, ninja tools for the academy, food, and furniture for our home. But if there is time, we will do ninja training later in the evening. So we could get a head start in the academy." Karin said while having an apologetic face.
"Ah, I understand. Maybe later I could join you if you are okay with that?" Aika said while having a hopeful expression on her face.
"We don't see why not since we'll also live here at the Uchiha compound. We could practice taijutsu and weapon throwing," Naruto commented. Still, before he could continue, the Uchiha matriarch appeared with her son Sasuke, ready to go shopping for the day.
"Ah, children, I see that you met one another. I was about to introduce you later today, but this will save us some time. I'm glad you're getting along well and planning to hang out. Aika's mother will be working for me, helping raise the newborn children, and her older sister, Rin, is already a Genin. So, it will be surprising to see them occasionally around the compound." The Uchiha Matriarch said, getting a nod of understanding from the Uzumaki's and Aika.
"Okay, Aika-chan, please return and help your mother with the children. Since we are all ready, we could start to head out to the village shopping district," Mikoto said to the children as they began to put on their sandals before they left the house.
After leaving the Uchiha compound, it took them around half an hour to reach the shopping district. The small group quickly moved through the crowds when they finally made it to the first place they would shop. In front of them was a well-maintained weapon shop. Sasuke's mother wanted to ensure the Uzumaki children would get a stockpile of ninja clothing, weapons, and tools to buy so they could have them on reserves. When she started the academy the following year, Mikoto also bought Aika-chan a complete set of ninja weapons tools and a first aid kit.
"Well, kids, let us all step inside and see what kind of ninja gear and weapons you would like to start to learn when you get older." The Uchiha matriarch showed them a beautiful smile.
"Alright! I'm just happy that I can choose my outfits on my own. But choosing the right weapon for myself might be difficult." Naruto commented out loud, not noticing the wry smiles from Karin and the Uchiha Matriarch were giving him.
On the other hand, Sasuke looked at him with a complicated expression. He thought, "Is he trying to become a ninja or an idiot?" But inside, he was also happy that his mother would buy all the necessary items for him to become a ninja. Sasuke still had conflicting feelings, getting vengeance for the Uchiha clan and going after Itachi to kill him. But his mother sat down and talked with him about private matters he still didn't understand. Sasuke's mother urged him to become the Uchiha's last hope to protect them from all enemies because she loved him and wanted to see him grow up happy.
"Kaa-san, I'm going to look for a new outfit and items on my own, so I'll be okay. I'm sure that Naruto and Karin will need more of your help choosing for them," Sasuke said as he put both his hands in his pockets and looked away in embarrassment.
"Thank you, Sasuke-chan, for being so understanding," Sasuke's mother replied with a smile. At the same time, Naruto and Karin nodded in thanks to him as he walked off.
"Naruto-kun, just to let you know that you won't need a ninja outfit in the first three years of the academy. I will get you three basic weapon kits with a weapon pouch and a kunai holster. And a first aid kit in case of a training accident." Mikoto told the young blond as his excitement vanished, hearing that he would not get his ninja outfit as he had hoped.
When the small group entered the ninja weapon shop, a burly man greeted them. He was well-built and around his forties. He had a scar across his face, and his messy hair was put in a topknot. His appearance was dirty, with black stains all over himself. From the looks of it, he looked like he had just finished working on a weapon not so long ago. He gave everyone a smile before greeting everyone.
"Welcome to Higurashi Shop. I'm Higurashi Kento. I'm sorry about my appearance. I was taking a break from working on a weapon and came to put the shop in order. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask for my assistance. I'll be happy to answer them." Higurashi-san told his customers in the hopes that he could make some sales.
"Thank you for your consideration, Higurashi-san." Mikoto gave a slight bow before speaking again. "Let me introduce myself. I'm Uchiha Mikoto, the clan head of the Uchiha clan. I'm here to get the basic weapons and first aid kits for first-year academy students," Mikoto explained to the shop's owner, who looked at the two Uzumakis.
Kento was shocked to see the Uchiha clan leader at his shop requesting weapons. He knew that the Uchiha clan had the weapon distributor that they had gone to since the massacre and the lack of Uchiha males. It was wise for the Uchiha clan leader not to leave the village during these times. Kento heard rumors that there were few babies and kids that survived—bonding her to the compound to protect what was left of her clan. So this was the perfect opportunity for his shop to get new business and maybe even a new backer ever since the fourth Hokage and his wife passed away. The weapon shop lost about forty percent of its business, making his life and keeping the shop open much more challenging. During that time, he never decided to save money just in case something happened. Learning from his mistake and possibly getting a new opportunity, he hoped to become their clan's weapon shop. Kento quickly bowed in respect when he heard the woman say she was the clan leader of the Uchiha clan.
"My apologies, Uchiha-sama. I didn't recognize who you were. I will go collect everything you just asked for. Is there anything else you will buy today or a particular order? Higurashi-san asked as he waited for his response.
"Yes, I would like four orders of fishnet armor—two for boys and two for girls, please. I want eleven pairs of ninja sandals. Let me get sixteen orders of black training clothing. Let's get a box of white wrappings as well. And a box of ninja wire and eight storage scrolls, please, and I think that will be it." Mikoto replied, smiling at the man; she asked for it in a notebook while he was busy writing everything.
"Okay, then let me get everything together while you keep looking around with the children, Uchiha-sama," Higurashi said as he patiently waited to see if they finished ordering.
"Yes, thank you. If we have any other questions, I'll be sure to let you know," Mikoto said as she turned around and walked away, looking around. He went off to gather everything he had written down.
"Obasan, would it be possible to get tonto and senbon needles and fuinjutsu items to practice our calligraphy since both of us are Uzumaki?" Naruto asked with no shame, while Karin had an apologetic look.
"Naruto, at this moment, you don't need a tonto. But I am happy to get you senbon needles and teach you how to use them. We might have to get calligraphy supplies elsewhere because this is a weapon shop, and they don't carry that type of supplies here, Naruto-kun. Acquiring the proper gear will give kids an advantage when they age and join their genin teams. I want to prepare all of you for your future, at least. Mikoto explained to both Uzumaki children, and they nodded in understanding.
"Kaa-san, can I please get the hidden kunai mechanism?" Sasuke asked, giddy at the chance to have a new tool.
"Sasuke, you don't need it now since your first two years in the academy will be pure academics. Once all four kids enter your third year in the academy, I'll allow any other weapon requests." Sasuke's mother said for Sasuke to only sigh in defeat
"Uchiha-sama, I have your order ready. Since your order was large, I threw in four free storage scrolls for each member you are buying for," Higurashi-san said as he turned around to return to the counter. Everyone else followed him so Sasuke's mother could pay for everything. Four scrolls were waiting for them when they got there on the counter. Then, the owner began to speak.
"Uchiha-sama, here's everything you asked for. So the total amount is going to come out to 178,667 ryo." Higurashi-san said, getting a nod from the Uchiha matriarch as she paid for the items.
Naruto and Karin almost passed out from the amount of ryo they had just spent. But to Uchiha matriarch and Sasuke not so much as they said goodbye before they headed to a clothing shop to get their new clothes. The next few hours, the group went shopping, buying everything Naruto and Karin needed for themselves and their new home. Naruto and Sasuke both began to get tired going from store to store as they followed Sasuke's mother and Karin all day on this shopping trip. Both boys started to argue over their likes and dislikes, getting louder and louder while throwing insults at one another.
Sasuke's mother finally got fed up with the two boys bickering before she chastised them for acting so immature in public. Naruto and Sasuke walked in shame with their heads hung low after being scolded by Sasuke's mother. After their long shopping trip, the group decided to get something to eat; the Uchiha matriarch chose to eat at Yakiniku Q, and Sasuke and Karin seemed happy. Sasuke's mother decided to eat, but Naruto looked dismayed since he had never been allowed to eat anywhere other than the Ichiraku Ramen stand. When the group entered, a waitress quickly greeted them with some enthusiasm.
"Welcome to Yakiniku Q. How many people will be in your group?" The waitress said, smiling at them. Naruto looked a little nervous about getting kicked out because of him.
"It's only going to be us. Thank you for asking." The Uchiha matriarch said as the waitress turned and began to take the group to their table.
Once they reached the empty table, the waitress said she would give them a moment to review the menu. She left them to check on the new customers who came to eat there, too. While the group began to decide what to get, sadly for Naruto, Yakiniku Q didn't serve ramen, leaving him crestfallen. Mikoto and Karin giggled at Naruto's cute antics while Sasuke snorted at the blond's actions. On the other hand, Naruto began to sulk more since he knew everyone sitting was laughing at him.
"Naruto, Karin, I hope that both of you can have fun and get the things you want. I hope that both of you can enjoy living at the Uchiha compound. Maybe you can both build your own compound when you get older. But for now, let's make the best of it and grow as a family." The Uchiha matriarch said, making both kids smile while Sasuke waited silently for the food.
"Yes, thank you very much, Uchiha-sama. Naruto-kun and I appreciate everything you are doing for us. We will make sure to avoid causing you any problems. Karin said, giving the Uchiha Matriarch a bow of her head.
"Obasan I'm already happy to know I have a family member from my clan to be alive. And I finally found out who my mother was. I'm thankful to know someone my mother trusted is still alive to give me, at least, and my cousin a place to live. Naruto said while having a big smile on his face.
"Well, it makes me happy to hear that Naruto-kun. I hope you will become best friends by the time Sasuke, Karin, and you graduate. I hope my Sasuke-chan will not let this tragedy affect him to the point of vengeance. It would lead him down a dark path," Sasuke's mom said as she spoke to the other two kids. Sasuke protested, but his mother knew how he had been feeling lately.
"Kaasan, please don't tell them anything about me. I don't need them to know about the problems I've been having since the incident," Sasuke pleaded with his mother not to share things about him.
"Fine, Sasuke-chan, I won't do anything to upset you." Sasuke's mother kisses him on his forehead, making him blush in embarrassment. When she saw the waitress come out with their food, letting them know they were about to eat.
After an hour at the restaurant, the group finally left Yakiniku Q to return to the Uchiha compound. Naruto and Karin needed to see their new home and clean it before Sasuke's mother removed all the latest furniture from the storage scrolls. So they could begin to fix up the new place. At the same time, the Uchiha matriarch went back to her home to check on the children. Sasuke went to the back of his home to practice his katas and shuriken jutsu. So he could continue to take out his frustration on not being strong enough. He vowed to become as powerful as that man, but only time will tell.
A/N: Hello there my fellow readers and writers I hope you like this chapter even if it turn out a little bit longer than the others but I really had to do a lot of plug and play with my paragraphs since I revamp this story. I hope that everyone wont get concussed with the Rin & Izumi parts as I tried to connect them to part when Naruto and Karin entered the Uchiha compound. Also I wanted to make something clear that Naruto won't get into a relationship till the time skip of this story. It doesn't make sense to have him in a relationship now as a brat. Also I'm going to be writing posting one more chapter before I put a pause for the moment on this story so I could continue to write a chapter for my other stories I started. Also I want to give thanks to NinjaFang1331,Samuel Santillan, KidneyZero for following and reviewing my story thanks guys
